Is it weird to go shopping for clothes with your parents?...
I just don't know... Most people shop on their own.
    I'd like to know so..

P.S. I'm rather serious about this so could you leave it here rather then common room?

I think it's strange that you make a topic like this and make it so serious.

Generally I do go shopping with my mother because I'm not bothered to organize some sort of social outting when I just want to go to a store to pick up a game or get some clothes, and if I go with my parents I get to go where I want to go in a car, which is much faster than a bike of course.

The only time it bothers me so much is when it's the mall and some people from my school see me. My school is THAT kind of school, you see...

To be honest it doesn't bother me at all, until I go into a games shop. Then it feels, the moment I step through the door, that I've stepped into some mad place in which it really bothers me. I guess it's because they don't know too much about games. (Though my mum knows a fair bit more than she used to.) Apart from that, nope it doesn't bother me.

I agree with Wind Dude. It's certainly not bad to shop for clothes with your parents. After all, who's got a nice shiny credit card for you to use? :P

But in all seriousness, what usually happens is that they take me to the mall, I pick my own selections, and my parents just give their suggestions about it. I personally am not too serious when it comes to clothing, so even if my parents don't like a particular selection, I just figure why bother them and I just put it back.

And besides, parents themselves can often make surprisingly good choices or suggestions for you.

That's happened to me before. I've been looking for clothes before and my parents have just suggested something and I'll think 'That's exactly what I want.'

But they pay for stuff, I pick it out. Its a good system.

I very rarely even buy my own clothes. My parent's always insist on me going with them to get some new clothes, but I can't be bothered so they get it without me. And what they get is most of the time really good, just what I'd want.

But I think it's better if you just go with a friend, my friend's often call me to go with them so I can tell them what I think.

My sister's a year and a half older, and definately one of the more popular people among her peirs, so usually when I go to the mall to get clothes, my sister gives her opinion, and my mom buys it. My mom even usualy pays for at least most of, if not all of my video games, because when we go to Portland (Oregon), she gives my sister and I $60 to spend.

It's not weird at all. Although... I'm a girl so, shopping for certain girly stuff with my dad = LOL, NO.

But then again shopping with my mom is pretty annoying... She wants me to wear all the crap that the other girls are wearing, etc.

Dad is more practical and rational.

                    It's rare that I go shopping though, mom has a store and always brings me clothes >>;

But you know what's REALLY awful?

That means I'll have to go with my dad next year to pick out a tux for me to wear... for the prom.

                          Oh dear.

Then again, it's just a tux. They all look mostly the same, anwyay.

Bah, guys have it easy. They just need a tux. Any one will do. Girls, noooo, we need to trawl around looking at frickin' dresses and bags and ****ing matching shoes... and THEN my friend got annoyed at me because we were in the same dress. I HATE IT ALL. I hate dresses, and I hate those stupid little shoes and bags. HATHATEHATEHATE.

                              ... rant over.

Don't laugh, i'm serious. The guys don't care too much (though NO dress = hotter ), but it's the girls who are most critical.
Plus everyone has their own personal standards and expectations.

And who says the tux doesn't matter :o. Some of us care about how we look you know. Need to choose the perfect, cooler looking tux than the other boring people :P.
We do get it easy with shoes and bags though ;)

Yes, you are quite right Neon. Girls do it just to be more popular amongst their gender. They shouldn't be popular if they look good, but if they're good hearted. I really do think that way.

I didn't dress up to impress anyone. I did it because I had to.

You can't really turn up at the prom in a Metallica t-shirt and ripped jeans. You'd get kicked out.

I usually shop online, I only go out shopping when I can't get it online. But I have to take my mom along and she's a friggin' rodent, running around like crazy looking at everything she sees to lay it back down a minute later because she doesn't really like it.

I went to my friend's graduation dance a couple of months ago and we met another girl who graduated about 3 years ago :o She was wearing shoes that looked like... ballet shoes, sort of. They didn't have the silly hard thing on the tip or anything though, and they had no heels at all. She was wearing them precisely cause she hates the usual prom shoes and that thing usually lasts from 8pm - 3 am and even 5 am here.
