For the past several months, possibly up to a year, Camelot has been working on a new PC online golf game. It will be released in Japan, and coverage can be found at IGN: http://wii.ign.com/a...2/722509p1.html.

However, I must warn people not to jump to conclusions. There has been no official word from Nintendo that Camelot is no longer a second-party developer, and Camelot itself has not yet released any statement about its future relationship with Nintendo. Despite the title of IGN's article, nothing is confirmed, and the Japanese press is still confused and is trying to ascertain what Camelot's current plans are for future games.

Camelot has gone on record in the past, saying that they would be creating an RPG on Nintendo's next console (the Wii), and have not yet said anything to hint that that project may have been cancelled. Although Camelot is a small studio, it appears the golf game could have reused alot of assets from the Gamecube version of Mario Golf, so it is conceivable that half (or more) of the Camelot team are working on another project simultaneously.

To summarize what I'm trying to say: don't jump to conclusions until Camelot themselves say that there won't be any other games from them.

UPDATE: After doing some more research, I have found that the source of the rumor that Camelot and Nintendo have split was a mistranslation of a German website that first reported about the new game. Camelot has said that they have delayed/postponed development of a game for a Nintendo system for now while they focus on this golf game, but that they have not ruled out returning to a Nintendo project in the future. So that means more waiting for us...

Well, that's good news. I'd be less pessimistic if we hear more about the RPG for the Wii. Particularily since IGN says the game will be release "TBA 2006", and the year 2006 is almost over.

Guess it's not actually coming out this year.

Wind Dude, keep in mind that those release dates on the websites are only revised when new news comes out, so the last time any news about that rumored game was released, it was assumed to be released in 2006 (presumably a launch title for the Wii). So eventually it will get updated.

That's exactly my point. 2006 is coming to a close, we should hear some news soon. Hopefully.

I should say, thank you for clearing that up Max. I had personally just about lost hope...

And yes, unless Camelot dramatically surprises us, any release for a Nintendo platform would certainly not come this year.

Well, that's good news. For a while I thought they were going to leave Nintendo. This still leaves hope for a GS3.

At least it looks like they're still working together.

I too have to thank Max, because I am one of those people who have understood this news in the wrong way. I am very happy that it isn't certain that Camelot is leaving Nintendo, but why aren't they making I Love Golf! for the Wii? Maybe because of Wii Sports... But do they really think that making an online golf game for the PC is a smarter move than finishing that RPG for Wii? Once again, who knows...

There's already Pangya, which is a golf game, for the Wii.

The golf game is being released in conjuction with a new online PC game service in Japan. Just look at the screenshot, and see how it seems to be built solely for the PC.

It's August, we're 3/4 of the way through, it's not over yet. If we were in November or later I'd agree, but c'mon man, we're just 75% in.

Nintendo doesn't participate at the Tokyo Game Show. Well, they don't have a booth or anything, but last year, Satoru Iwata revealed the Wii controller during his speech.

There is also the Leipzig Game Convention later this August. IGN claims that Nintendo will reveal five new, never before seen Wii titles to the public.

Hope we do have GS3! It could be set several years later or something, maybe this time though, Alex returns and you must defeat him (seriously Alex almost looks like a Woman with the long hair which I thought he was before), or maybe someone else.
