Current Affairs, Console Gaming and Computer Gaming.

You can thank GoldenLegacy for suggesting this to Max and I. I feel this will help encourage posts and create more concentration in each specific forum.

With these new forums, new rules are also spawned:

    1. While the title "Other Games" implies you can discuss all games, you need to select the correct category and subforum. The Console and Handheld Gaming forum is for things like the PS2, GameCube, Xbox (360), DS, PSP, etc. Things like Counter-Strike: Source for the PC, WoW, and games for Unix variants (includin Linux, Solaris, BSD, etc) go into the Computer Gaming forum.

If you wish to discuss general gaming, like "Which is better, Counter-Strike for the PC or Xbox", you can put that in the general forum.

Keep in mind, for the first little while, a lot of posts are going to be moved at Moderator Discretion - meaning you may not agree with the move. If this is the case, PM the Moderator Team and tell them why you feel differently. If you do not do this, your topic will not be moved and you will not be heard from when you want to make an appeal.

    2. The Current Affairs forum is for world news (War in Iraq, Lebanon/Isreal War, etc), politic news (Elections, etc), and just news in general (Did you know (link to news story and discussion)).

With these new rules, I think we can spark some activity in those forums.

    Thank you.

NOTE: For the next couple of days, moderators will be moving topics to their respective (new) forums. Please check all new forums for your topic before making a topic in the help forum or PM'ing the staff.

Good News: We finally get a Current Affairs forum.

Bad News: We split the Other Games forum and create subforums at GSSF.

Personally, I have always found subforums just to be a hassle, and I question the "need" to make this move, but I won't complain too much because I got what I wanted in the end.

On noes!!! The sprites aren't dancing anymore!!!!

I also agree with SoT when it comes to sub forums in the "Other Games" forum. Since this place isn't really that active I think it would be more convenient to just have four sub forums. One for Microsoft, one for Sony, one for Nintendo, one PC games. The PSP can tie in with the Sony board and the DS can tie in with the Nintendo board.

I don't think so because this place isn't all that active anyways. I mean sure, when we just had the "Other games" board where you could discuss about any game/system it got a little bit messy but no so much that it was a serious problem. Well at least on in my eyes.

Having so many sub-forums makes me worry that some places will become seriously inactive and inevitably useless since mostly everyone here talks about Nintendo and will be posting in the Nintendo forum.

:) Yeah, really, I don't understand what you're trying to say Echo djinn.

Anyway, I think it's ok like this, and if it were to be changed even more it might all just become too complicated.

I don't like this at all. The only change i think we needed in this forum was to MERGE the common room and general discussion sections. Subforums just overcomplicates everything. What was wrong with just discussing ALL games in the game forum? OH NOES! COMPUTER GAMES IN THE SAME FORUM AS MY GAMECUBE GAMES! WHATEVER WILL I DO! QQ

I'm with Neon. Two forums for the games is ridiculas, whats wrong with discussing the new rpg for the 360 while talking about the new fps for the computer?

The current affairs section is nice but overall I think it does over complicate things.

The Game forum was dominated by topics for consoles, and specifically for Nintendo consoles. By separating the two, the intention is to encourage people to post more topics about Computer Gaming.

The same with the Current Affairs board. It encourages people to post about current events happening all over the world.

Computer topics were completely drowned out; if you'd visit more often, you'd realize that.

Being quite the PC gamer myself, the fact that computer game disucssion was ignored... it always annoyed me.

You just say that because you don't go for computer games since you have a lower-end computer. I'm being blunt, not offensive.

At least 40% of our active users go for computer games as well as console games. Think about other members.

Even if you don't like the change now, you'll get used to it and probably like it later. It's not like we're doing something directly bad or harmful to the forums.

Fine. All I'm saying is, this move was unnecessary, it's not good for the forums, but it's not bad for it either. I think this was just a change for the sake of change and that's all.

Technically something did "change" a couple weeks ago when you know what happened. I just thought that would be enough.

My bad, when I read this I thought the forum was going to be seperated into 6 sub forums for each system I put in bold. Now that I looked into the board I can see my error. My bad.

That would fall under Console Gaming, obviously.

That would've narrowed it further, though. I like what it is right now, the perfect name for that forum.

Brawl which isn't even out yet and is already flooded with crap. There was nothing wrong with the game forums before and it was stupid to **** around with it. As they say "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".

The forums are currently being redesigned/reorganized, so I simply ask for your patience. I know that might be a hard concept for some of you, but it really isn't a big deal to make an extra click or two.

You don't expect me to check the date of every topic I post just so I don't bump it. I didn't get a chance to voice my opinion and now I have, I think that's plenty of reason to bump a topic even if it's a century old.
