Pretty standard response, Oblivion. Everyone I know with an Xbox has it, sometimes they only have that game.
Or that Deadrising seem's to be popular.

And I doubt that you want to play Halo 3 co-op with your little brother, m i rite?
But you're the one buying, I'm just forcing opinions on you. That, and I want more people to talk about how awesome BioShock is on this forum.

£260 for the xbox with Forza 2 and 2 controllers
£12 for DOA 4
£35 for Halo
£20 for overlord
Total: 337, but I payed for DoA with money I earned, and Halo and overlord are xmas presents.

Kutaragi: Genius!
Microsoft
Employee: Well, it's in the shape of a box... and kids seem to like the letter X these days, so, why don't we call it the Xbox?
Gates: Genius!
Nintendo
*everybody's smoking pot* Whee.... tee hee...
Iwata: Whee! It's genius. Except we'll spell it Wii instead! Hehehe... Wii!
I don't think any of the names are particularly great.
And the Wii is the sexiest looking. The 360 looks funny and clunky, the PS3 is huge and looks like a grill.

Where's your precious console now? :( This wouldn't be a bad idea if your 360 died a horrible, paintful,
And Slomz, I agree that the "Wii" could've been better named, but I think that it makes the console sound better than if it was named the "Revolution". I mean, the latter would've made it sound just like an oridnary gameing system. The Wii (although a bit....odd) on the other hand, sounds different.
The Playstation sounds generic, but it's not a bad name. It's a name that carries a legacy of repetitive sequels, and more sequels of those sequels. ;)
The Xbox is.....well let's just say it sounded cool when it was new.

Halo is a derivative and merely average shooter. It's not bad, but there are loads of shooters that do everything Halo does, and better. Crysis is a better shooter. COD4 is a better shooter. The original Halo was great, but each got a little worse.
I'll sum it up and say that I personally dislike Halo because there are better shooters out there that aren't getting enough love that I consider to be better games. But at least people are starting to realize this with the release of COD4.

Halo 1 was OK. Halo 2 was when the seeds of a ****ty game were planted. Halo 3 is a horrible game. The reason it's so popular is because most teenagers that have never played a lot of video games before see Halo, and say "I want to shoot that guy too!", and it goes on from there.
Popularity =/= Good Game
CoD4 is also a very generic game too. The only good thing about it is online play, bu that gets old fast.

It's too repetitive. Theres virtually no plot told, you just start shooting aliens, and in one level of Halo 2 you're the aliens shooting the humans...nice explaining of wtf is going on by Bungie. The weapons aren't balanced well. The controls are awful. Was gonna say a few other things but I forgot what they were...I'll just leave it at that.
That is why Halo is 'bad'.
#62

If you didnt skip the cutscenes, the story would be explained. Yes, it's a bad plot but they do explain it.
The weapons aren't balanced well, but they tried to fix them in H3. Tried.

XBox live involves me paying money so i can have a **** waving competition with utter pricks correct?
#72
Posted 27 April 2008 - 04:35 PM
No, xbox live is the highlight of xbox 360, providing it's multiplayer games you buy. If you dont buy multiplayers, dont buy live because you'll waste your money.
I wouldn't reccommend dynasty warriors on 360 because it's more generic than Halo. Ninety Nine Nights is quite good for a beat 'em up, much better than DW.
RENT CREED. I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH. Creed is definately not worth shelling out £30 on, but for a rent you cant go wrong. It's more fun than a barrel of flaming monkeys on crack, but there's no replay value whatsoever, but the single player mode is godly. Rent it, you wont be dissapointed.
Quote
Fixed.
Gears is only worth a rent as well. The online is just poor, the single player is pretty fun with mates but like creed, once you've done it once there's no reason to go back and do it again.
Blue Dragon, just no. It's just...no, dont waste your money.
Lost Odyssey= Big yes. Haven't actually played it but it's the next game i'm buying and i've yet to see a bad review.
Dead or Alive 4 is the hardcore of the beat 'em ups. Got it used for a tenner, worth every penny. Great for when mates are around ( not for the boobfest strangely enough)
Bioshock is probably the best game you listed, but again, unfortunately it's a 1 trick pony like Gears and Creed. You'll complete it and never play it again. Worth a rent.
Eternal Sonata looks pretty sweet to me, there's a demo on live that you can try out.
Brings me to another point; most of the time there's demos on live you can download to try a game out before you buy it which is very useful so you dont end up wasting money on games you find out you hate.
ORANGE BOX IS AN ESSENTIAL 360 PURCHASE. Having a 360 without Orange Box is like having a girl without tits. No need to explain, it's ****ing awesome.
You MIGHT like Crackdown, dont count on it though. Like the opposite of GTA, with superpowers. You're a supercop who can run really fast and jump 30 feet in the air, and you have to take down gangs. Goes pretty cheap on ebay and there's a demo as well.
Oblivion; not heard a single negative review about it but never tried it. Tom's played it though and says it's awesome though i'll leave that for you to decide.
You might like Enchanted arms also, it's kinda Fire Emblem style. Never tried it though so dont hold me to it.
RROD is the only hardware issue you have to worry about, and if you do get it, yes it's a pain in the arse cuz it renders your 360 unplayable, but you can send your 360 into M$ and you'll get a replacement in about a month.
Few tips; never move your 360 while it's turned on and has a disk in it because it will scratch the disk and make it unplayable.
Dont buy live over credit card because it's really, really difficult to unsubscribe. Always buy the cards.
Live Arcade is legendary; you can download movies, arcade games, game expansions, demos and more for quite cheap but uses a crappy point system instead of money so keep that in mind.
Brings me to another point; you might like some of the arcade games on offer ( CASTLEVANIA, B!TCH!).
Uh, make sure you get the Premium. Dont get Arcade because it has no harddrive and is crap. Dont get Elite because it's a waste; the only difference is the colour and harddrive space, but with the Premium you get 20GB which is enough anyway ( i havent even used half).
Thats about it, if you do get one, tell me your gamertag and i'll add you.

Bull****, that fact was made up by some PS3 fanboy or something. It's less than 10%. It's much more less of a problem now with falcon chips in pretty much all of the consoles ( anything made after august 07 has the falcon chip in it). So the risk is much less. You only hear stories from people who have had 360s from launch now, so you're quite safe.

But yeah, if you're a fan of DW dont let me stop you. I've never actually played the one on 360, i'm just basing it on reviews.
Try the N3 demo as well, because it's like DW, but shinier and bigger swords.

Orange Box. Probably the first FPS EVER that puts storyline before gameplay. However, the gameplay is still top notch and it's probably the best thing i've ever bought in my life. It's worth getting Gold just to play Team Fortress 2.

Quick article from Wikipedia if you're interested.
Wikipedia - Xbox 360 technical problems said:
The Xbox 360 scratched disc problem received little media coverage in 2006; however, in February 2007, the Dutch television program Kassa investigated several complaints from Dutch customers about circular scratches made in their Xbox 360 discs. Some of these customers claimed that their discs became unreadable. Kassa investigation traced the problem to a design defect in which the Xbox 360 optical lens was not restrained sufficiently. In asserting that Microsoft or at least its chain of suppliers were aware of this problem, Kassa noted that Microsoft's "TSST" versions of the Samsung DVD-drive lack rubber cushions around the optical lens while identical Samsung drives sold for PCs did have these rubber cushions. Kassa also noted that the affected Xbox 360s all seem to have been produced towards the end of 2006.
Kassa’s April 2007 investigation
During the February 2007 investigation report, Kassa stated that either not all Xbox 360s without protective pads would spontaneously scratch discs, or that the complaints were from Xbox 360 users who had moved their Xbox during use, or who used an unstable setup. Here, Kassa's February 2007 investigation left open the question of whether consumers contributed to the rounded scratch problem by moving their Xbox 360 (TSST version) during the playing of a disc. This resulted in Kassa receiving an additional 1,000 complaints over the subsequent two months, with many customers denying the Xbox had moved when the scratching occurred, or that it had been placed in an unstable position.
Prompted by consumer reaction to their February 2007 report, Kassa performed several tests with Xbox 360s from customers who claimed their Xbox had the problem. Kassa stabilized these Xboxs and positioned them at a location remote from contact by anyone. The results of the laboratory conditions test revealed that one of the nine tested Xbox 360s had spontaneously scratched a disc after five hours of gaming. The Xbox also were tested standing upright, and the test revealed that three of the nine tested Xbox 360s significantly scratched discs. The complete investigation, with all the relevant details of the tests, was made ready to be aired in April 14, 2007. The videos (also with English subtitles) can be found here: [49] Weeks before it aired, however, Kassa solicited input from Microsoft Netherlands.
One day before the airing of the April 14, 2007 show, Kassa received a response from Microsoft Netherlands stating that "as a result of regular use it is possible that scratches on discs can arise", and that Microsoft Netherlands "would seek a solution for the Dutch customers with this problem". Additionally, Microsoft released the following statement ten days after the show, on April 24, 2007:

The point still stands. There's no point in risking it.
Another tip; disks are more likely to get scratched if the console stands upright.

Nope, you dont have to pay for another 360. It's got 3 year RROD warranty, so if your 360 gets RROD, send it in and you'll get a replacement in about a month. They're far, far less likely now though.

However, Zeypher, this is the Xbox 360 discussion so arguing about Xbox 360 sucking or what ever it is the argument is about is pointless - you will not change the minds of Xbox fans in their own forum :P
I will break down my opinion of the various systems and why I think Xbox 360 is the best console to get right now. I have a Xbox 360, a Wii and I plan to get a PS3. I think each system has things which make it great.
If I have made an error anywhere, please feel free to correct me.
Xbox 360:
- Xbox Live is far superior to PSN and Wii online, although not free.
- Xbox Live Arcade titles. Remakes and originals, in HD, some for free.
- Xbox Originals - Halo 1, Banjo and Kazooie, etc
- Demos. I have approx. 26 demos for various games I would never buy but don't mind playing now and then (DoA 4, Fight Night, etc)
- Movies. You can buy movies in HD, directly to your console's HDD.
- Friends List, with in-game chat, out-of-game chat, instant messaging, web cam chat, profiles.
- Xbox Live Arcade titles. Remakes and originals, in HD, some for free.
- Achievements. Neat, although not really useful for anything other than bragging rights and goals to reach. Can sometimes be used as an indicator of how good someone is at a particular game.
- More games available, more exclusives, AFAIK.
- DVD player, optional HD DVD addon (although useless now)
- True HD experience
- Free online.
- Built in wireless
- Blu Ray Player.
- True HD experience
- Some awesome exclusives.
- Awesome exclusive titles like Final Fantasy, MGS and Grand Turismo
Wii:
- Free online
- Built in Wireless
- The VC is awesome. Many old titles that I would love to play again.
- Awesome exclusives, much larger than that of the PS3 - Mario (Kart, Super, etc), Metroid, Zelda, Donkey Kong, Pokemon, etc
- Cheaper initial price than the PS3 or Xbox 360, but lacks things like HD, DVD/Blu Ray. Controllers are expensive as heck.
- Innovative design with the Wii-mote and such. Fun system.

You made a minor error in your XBox Originals area...Banjo Kazooie was originally a N64 game, so technically it's not an XBox Original...but I'm sure M$ has used another one of their cheap tricks =\
BTW, Nintendo, Rare, and M$ were negotiating a way to get GoldenEye 007 on both consoles without a ton of lawsuits. Pretty much a win-win situation.

Anyways XBLA rocks, while I prefer VC because it has old Nintendo games (Better than most of the crap on Wii right now), but still the fact you can get newer more advanced games with many extra features on XBLA and not on the Wii is...
Seriously imagine MK64 or smash bros 64 with online play. If they were on 360 they would be guarenteed that.

Dead or Alive 4

Lost Odyssey
Eternal Sonata
Gears of War

If i'm going to be totally honest, 360 has the best game selection out there right now. Even if you dont like the games, you can still appreciate that they are good titles. The PS3 atm is just 360 ports. The Wii is just S.H.I.T. and 360 has some really good solid titles; Mass Effect, Halo (Laharl will disagree purely because its popular :B ), Crackdown, Lost Planet. You may think i'm being honest, but can you honestly name a good PS3 exclusive thats out at the moment?
And with the Wii, there is only crappy film games or a miserable brand-identity effort created to suck up money, or just an excuse to wave your arms about. The only Wii title i've been genuinely impressed with is Twilight Princess. The rest of them are pretty weak IMO.
#144
Posted 08 May 2008 - 08:58 AM
Heavenly Sword, Resistance, Ninja Gaiden, Uncharted, Ratchet and Clank, Motorstorm.
The bolded ones I've played, and are all awesome. And omg, the upcoming exclusives are even better. *drools*
Oh, and the PS3 passed the 360 in hardware sales in Europe last week ^.^ (despite being on the market a year earlier lmao!!!)
Imo the 360 exclusives are the worst of the lot. PS3/Wii > 360.

At any rate, while I don't myself own a 360, even I recognize that it has the most solid and well-rounded game library of any of the current-gen consoles. Especially now that it's "broken through" many of the former Sony/PS3 exclusives (Devil May Cry, Grand Theft Auto, Assassin's Creed...), it's easily the most established console.

I enjoy my Wii and my PS3 very much, and even if there aren't THAT many exclusives worth buying, there are alot on the horizen. Plus, my PS2 died last year, so I can once again play all my old games.
I just feel no need to buy a 360. Alot of their exclusives are shooters, most of which are no different from any shooter, ever.

He has a point actually. In the 2 or 3 months that I had a 360 (I bought it specifically for Perfect Dark and Kameo) I was pretty disappointed with Rare's new found lack of effort. Kameo was an ok game - I'd give it about 75%. PD was awful - multi player options that were awesome in the first one had been removed - WHY!? I'd give it 70% at best.
Now, in Rare's heyday they would be scoring about 90%. Nintendo only let them go because they were too slow at making games anyway. It takes them about 6 years per game x.x Always has. Probably cos they're based in Twicross more than they are in Miami.

Nintendo trys to perfect products also, but Microsoft, omg... They always release an unfinished product. Do you know Microsoft was angry Take Two delayed GTA4? If it went Microsoft way, it would have been released last year, and would probably have not gotten stellar reviews.
My goodness. I HATE Microsoft's games division. Awful. Thankfully they are unable to buy success in this market (but then, they paid TT lots of money to release GTA4 on the 360 o.o). Sony EARNED their way btw.

You know, you're a very interesting person. I could bet all my money that if Banjo 3 was being released for Wii you would say it's a crap and kiddy Nintendo game. However, because it'll be on 360 you're ecstatic about it.
As for me, I have both of the N64 Banjo games and I loved them. It had its many flaws(too easy and short, in some ways too similar to Mario 64...) but they were great. So yeah, I wish I could play Banjo 3, especially since they're apparently changing the gameplay so radically. Or maybe they're not, perhaps that's just how they're advertising teh product... You know, that makes alot of sense. It's the kind of platformer game Caael would rag on.
I have found something interesting myself. Lately, I've looekd through my old Nintendo Power's, and the Code Cop(who squashes gaming rumours) said that the Banjo Threeie referance at the end of Banjo Twoie was jsut a rumour, and there would be no B3. Well look now stupid code cop.
