I think they should just make a GC version that has the option of being played on the Wii with extras. That would be my descision if I had a say in it. It would keep GC owners who have been waiting for this for a while, but it would also please Wii owners, since there would be added features.

Anyway, me and my brother have got a whole floor of our house for ourselves. In our shared sitting room we have a big TV, on which we'll put the Wii IF we get it. IF we get a Wii we'll be getting it around the time that SSBB releases and will get TP along with that.

1. Go out and rent Karaoke Revolution Party.
2. Set up your eye toy.
3. Get piss drunk.
4. Get a friend.
5. Sing the night away.
And then in the morning you can watch tapes of yourself singing and be so embarassed you won't want to show your face.
As for room space, you really don't need that much. It's not like you'll be running back and forth. Wii Sports will be the game that will judge if you have enough room.

Please, Please, PLEASE DON'T talk about spoilers outside this topic! I won't be checking this topic anymore for that very reason. I want this game to be perfect for me, I don't want to know ANY spoilers. This is very important for me. This is the official TP topic, so there is actually no reason for you to speak about the game outside this topic(and any others that may be about TP). Remember, talking about spoilers outside the official topic will just ruin the game for many, such as myself.
Thanks.

I guess the controls won't be perfected for awhile yet. People need time to get used to them first. It's like when Super Mario 64 DS came out, people complained about the touch screen controls, but now in newer games they're a lot better. Perhaps TP could have been held back so the controls were more familar, but the sales of the Wii would have been affected then.
#282
Posted 26 November 2006 - 02:47 AM
And I figured out why I couldn't find the controller. To play the Wii demos, you have to ask for the Wiimote at the desk since it's wireless, and attatching it with a cord would severely affect gameplay. Solution? Keep the Wiimote behind the counter, and exchange it for their driver's liscence. That way, people won't try to steal it because they need their driver's liscence. It's invaluable.

Also the controls are good. It took me some time to get used to moving the wii remote to attack but it comes naturally now.
And for those who havn't heard, there's a rumour going around that there' Zelda coming for the Wii that has been in development for almost a year. I see no reason why it couldn't be true, Zelda is a massive title for Nintendo, and they also spend a long time working on them, so I wouldn't be surprised if they show a short teaser trailer at the next e3

x) I just finished the Snow Temple a couple of horus ago ._. kind of odd/cool to have a house for a dungeon...I felt like I was playing Resident Evil all over again...maybe because it's a house and you have dogs of snow/ice jumping at you outside.
So far my favorite is the Desert Temple... XD I enjoy spinning...looks just like a beyblade! Watch it spin! .__.;
o.O Using the Wii remote is fun... ._. instead of my fondling it...I think I should go ahead and actually go back to playing it.

Right now I am in the Gordon Mines looking for the keys that the elders have so I can fuse them into a big key and enter the room to fight the bersek Gordon. I got the first Key and now I am looking for the second Elder but I can't find him? HELP PLZ? Right not I have the traditional Hyruleian Shield that doesn't burn, four hearts, the boomerang and Iron Boots. What should I do and where can I find more "peice of hearts"?

Question #1: Why did Midna destroy the Twilight mirror? I thought she loved/liked Link. She even said she would see him later or it would be nice to see him again? What's up with that?
Question #2: Why did Zant appear in a vision/memory just when Ganondof was about to die? It's like he came back to signal his death when he cracked his neck. Zant was being used so I see no reason for Ganondof to think about him just before he dies. Again, what's up with that?
Question #3: I know sequels are rare in the Zelda series but is anyone else thinking there will be a sequel to this game? Ganondof did say it wasn't over and that shadow and light would always struggle to maintain power or something to that extent. Midna also said she would like to see Link again but than broke the mirror? This leads me to believe there might be another way to get to the Twilight realm. Is there a sequel in the works?
Thanks for answering my questions

You know, it's kind of like one of those things were you just don't ask. Midna did love Link (just like Ilia, as an eternal friend, maybe even something more than that), but she knew things just couldn't be like that, and that there was no way their worlds could coexist if they continued to go between them. It was one of those "She did what she had to, no matter how much it hurt her to do it" things, when she destroyed the mirror, and broke the bridge between the two worlds.
Echo_djinn, on Jan 13 2007, 04:49 PM, said:
Zant was the body that Ganondorf had been housed in. Ganondorf could only revive himself as long as Zant was alive, and Zant could only revive himself as long as Ganondorf was alive. Remember how just before the vision, he was saying it wouldn't end here? He thought that he could just revive himself, but when he tried, he realized that Zant was dead, and he couldn't do anything, hence why he was then left to die there, as he was too weak to continue struggling.
Echo_djinn, on Jan 13 2007, 04:49 PM, said:
Well yeah, Ganondorf always says that kind of stuff, he really never gives up. And you see him later in Windwaker and whatnot. So, no, there are no direct sequels in the works, and the Twilight Realm will not always be known as the Twilight Realm (it was the Dark World in A Link to the Past). Don't expect to see direct connections in a direct sequel, but you will see more Zelda games, and many will reference to TP.
I myself beat the game on Friday. I fell victim to the Cannon Room Glitch (NEVER SAVE IN THE CANNON ROOM!!!) so I had to buy an SD card to download someone else's file in order to complete the game. I finally did though, and I really liked the ending. MORE SPOILERS AHOY. Most people disliked aspects of it because they didn't "get it" since there were a ton of references. The only part I disliked was the Ganon battle. I'll quote from another topic on another board, since it was a long post...
Blink, on Jan 14 2007, 11:55 AM, said:
I don't think there was a single aspect of the Zant battle that wasn't referring to Majora's Mask. Zant was Ganondorf's puppet, Zant seemed completely insane, there was the whole giant ball of energy that was symbolic of the moon crushing Termina (or so I think...), Zant went to battle in four different zones from earlier on in the game, just like the four sections inside the moon, and Zant's final form resembled that of the Garos (the ninja guys from Ikana Canyon) combined with Majora's Incarnation. I could go into greater detail, but I think anyone who's beaten Majora's Mask would understand these right off the bat.
Hyrule Castle was a perfect mix between Ocarina's HC and A Link to the Past's HC. The music fit to a T, it was abandoned yet powerful, and climbing the stairs was another OoT flashback. A little dated of a way to approach the final boss nowdays, but it fit because you KNEW where it was really coming from...if you played OoT. I actually got stumped when the stairs completely disappeared, I didn't realize you COULD clawshot the lanterns. When you finally fought Ganondorf, the scar on his chest was a great reference to the adult Ocarina ending, when you see Ganondorf clutching his chest and coughing up blood. I'm sure to anyone else, it would just be "a scar", but to me, it felt like I was seeing the results of what I'd done years ago. xD
The final boss battles were really cool, the Zelda one was dramatic and fresh, the Ganon one was the most Persian feeling boss battle I've ever played (but it was cool to attack the gem on his head again, yet another Ocarina reference), the horseback one felt like a Windwaker reference in a new setting, as to keep things diverse, and the last battle just felt perfect. I have no idea where he got that sword, since he's supposed to have a trident (I swear, his weapon changes every game), but it still seemed to work out.
My main disappointment was that the fighting was too easy. I beat every boss on my first run (mind you, those runs took forever), and the only time I ever had to repeat something because I was felled in battle was because I died the first time I fought the boss (the three knights) in the Cave of Ordeals. I actually beat them the second time, when I remembered that I had the seemingly useless but ultimately totally useful Golden Armor (that works really well when fighting the ice creatures in there). So yeah, combat was disappointing, but it was really cool to actually feel it in your arms that you had just swung your sword a whole freaking ton, and you really WANTED to be finished fighting these guys, and just defeat them already.
So, yes. I write a lot nowadays. xD
Hope that answers your questions Echo. What do you guys think of the references and whatnot?

Sheba, trust me, there's no way around the glitch. The save file actually has all four bottles. It has 14 hearts, and a good couple bugs. Half the poes, yeah, but it's better than playing another 30 hours of the same exact Zelda just to progress into the last 20%.
See if you know anyone with an SD card. You only need it temporarily, to move your save file off the console and move the gamefaqs save file onto the console.

I don't know about the demo version, but for me the aiming with the Wii remote was not only smooth and natural, but it was probably the best part of the control scheme for the Wii. If you ever get the game (or for WD, who already has it), I strongly recommend just going with it - it works phenomenally well once you get the hang of it (which is pretty soon) and it also makes simple, intuitive sense.

I beat the temple with all Wiimote aiming except for when I used Z targetting. It is nice, but the fairy cursor really ruins the immersion factor. Call me eccentric, I just don't like it. I can easily beat Iza's river rafting minigame with traditional aiming, so I'm all right.

And I love the item from that dungeon. It's really fun, and different than the other items from all of the Zeldas. I hope it's used some more in the future.
Now that I've beaten the fourth temple, I'm taking a break from dungeons and have just been screwing around in the game doing whatever odd thing I could see. Tried out fishing. It's fun with the Wii controls but the water in TP is far too reflective to be... conducive to fishing. I can't see any fish! The undetailed water from OoT would be better in this case. :P So if any of you have any tips on where exactly to expect fish, that'd be awesome sauce. I've only been able to catch Hylian Bass and Ordon Catfish.

POTENTIAL SPOILERS GALORE if you haven't beaten the game. So just skip this whole post, because I'm not gonna bother spoiler-tagging the whole thing.
Things I didn't like about the game:
- Too easy. Fighting was too easy, bosses were too easy, dungeons were too easy... for me at least. Not everyone will find it easy I guess, but I seem to remember Nintendo saying that this aimed at hardcore Zelda fans but ultimately, the game was still easy.
- Auto-block. This is only in the Wii version. It isn't a big deal, but it still made me D: a little.
- Horse-back combat was only used, I think, three times in the game. Boo.
- The wolf form was barely used in the second half of the game.
- And while we're on barely used things, half of the items you find are still barely used much like previous Zelda games, with the exception of the Clawshot and if you're like me, the Hero's Bow.
- The Overworld, while huge, left me feeling somehow empty. I don't know, it is huge, but I feel like it just wasn't really used.
- The Overworld battle music tends to come in late. The dramatic battle music tends to come in after and only after I kill an enemy.
- Shield attack/spin attack controls. I could pull out my spin attack MOST of the time, but not always. Shield attacks were terrible though. You have to hold the nunchuck at a specific angle, and when the shield attack DID work Link would go crazy with his shield for some reason, even though I swear that I'm holding my left hand still.
- The game practically THRUSTS money in your hand.
- Magic Armor.
- Very long. I clocked about 65 hours in the game. I'm not entirely sure how, but I did. Maybe the times I left the game on in the pause screen did some of those hours, but it's still long.
- Horse-back combat. Yeah.
- Wolf Link was pretty cool. It's a great idea, shame it was mostly used in the first half of the game.
- The Overworld theme music. Absolutely love it, and I like how it changes depending on if you're moving or standing still or riding on Epona.
- The hidden moves are awesome. Even if fighting is as easy as it's ever been, it's still a lot more fun than just having three moves. Four if you count WW's parry move. (Swing sword, jump attack, spin attack, parry in WW)
- Art style. TP isn't the most high-tech in graphical terms, but it made impressive use of bloom lighting and it's just great to look at sometimes.
- It's a Zelda game.

The bad:
One of the most linear games I've ever played.
Barely anything to do outside of dungeons, even less than OoT. I don't like playing one dungeon right after the other, so I always attempted to do other things after beating a dungeon. However, after awhile of searching for stuff to do in Hyrule, I would get bored and frustrated and continue to the next dungeon.
Fishing in the Fishing Hole, from the boat, is annoying, unrewarding and incredibly boring.
The Wolf is underused, unimaginative and boring.
Temple of Time was pathetic from beginning to end. Easy, short and boring with an unimaginative boss.
TOO MANY OoT references! I'm really pissed off about it, over half of the music was taken from Ocarina!
There are other things, but these are the most important.
The good:
Lots of excellent and very imaginative dungeons and bosses.
The game was more difficult than I expected it to be after reading the reviews.
Bunch of new and really awesome items, plus hidden skills which are great.
Horse-back combat.
Incredible facial expressions.
Chock-full of fresh and truly awesome ideas.
Again, there are more, but these are the most important.
So in the end, it was an excellent game, but not as good as I expected. The point of the game was to make a bigger Zelda than Ocarina of Time. This is Nintendo: 'Zomg, Ocarina had a gigantic Hyrule Field, so lets make an even bigger one even if there's no reason for us to do so! Oh, and Ocarina had eight dungeons, so lets make NINE dungeons this time!' However, OoT had four mini-dungeons whilst TP had none, so Ocarina is still a longer game.
Oh, and I'm also completely in love with the Hyrule Field music. So many times did I ride through Hyrule just to listen to it. =D

Playing through OoT now... just beat the Goron Temple. I dread the Water Temple... I played OoT a little bit as a ROM as some of you might remember me saying, stopped playing shortly after the Water Temple because using the ROM to hack cheats was too tempting. =/
Anyway, OoT's a great game but I find myself missing TP as I play it. It's not so much the terrible graphics, more because OoT's controls are God-awful. Link turns way too sharply and it's damn near impossible to make him walk. I can see why people hold OoT as the Holy Grail of gaming, though I think TP is superior in many ways.
And how can you say TP doesn't have enough to do between dungeons? There are whole story segments that don't involve dungeons!

The Great Fairies are at the
Of course TP is superior in many ways, it came out ten years after OoT. But for it's time, Ocarina was WAY better than TP.
Yeah whole story segments in between dungeons. Great. You can beat each of them within 15 minutes. And plus, in the second half, the game doesn't even have these segments. Especially towards the very end of the game: when you finish the

I was talking about OoT, playing it on the Virtual Console. When I was playing it as a ROM I'd use a PC gamepad that was basically a rip-off of Sony's DualShock. It was a little better in that I could optimize the gamepad's settings to make it less sensitive.
But when I actually play it on my Wii Link still controls horribly. It's really not a big deal, but I still wonder why it was done this way.

Here's a tip: Look at the rooms you haven't been to from your map. See if you can get to those rooms. If the doors are unreachable or if it's locked, then try to see if you can get to any other unvisited rooms and IF you can't, then the keys you're looking for are in a room you've already been to. Compasses are your friends for looking for chests. Really, Zelda games aren't that hard. You just need lateral thinking.
What are we going to do with you, Toasty? ;)

That's not it. This is the final dungeon, and there's only one small room between you and each boss. I just can't seem to get past the lava to get to the scorpion guy in the lava room, or get the gondola thiy to move past halfway through the room in the grass room.

have to agree that 2D Zelda is A LOT harder, Link to the Past, Link's Awakening and the Oracle games were way harder than the 3D incarnations of the series, OoT was tricky first time but finishing it gives the experience and skill to totally remove the difficulty from the 3D games. Even Master Quest was patheticaly easy....

I figured that out, but then I got bored. I'll try again later. Still have absolutely NO clue on how to get to the grass boss though.

Really? I found it pretty difficult... And I consider myself good at games, seeing as Echoes wasn't all that hard for me.

Hmm, Minish Cap harder than OoT and TP? That's surprising. I remember MC being easier than TP in my opinion, though it's a been around a year since I've played MC.

I don't know about that, I found Minish Cap easy. I beat it in a day or two. And LttP was't that hard either, took me a week or so. But I'll agree that the Oracle games were hard, just not among the hardest games.
