That was the concept behind force feedback, and just look how pissed people got when they took it out of Sixaxis. If graphics didn't matter, we'd never have switched to the disc format.

Actually I think I'd agree with Laharl on this one (about FF at least). FFXII had pretty great graphics (for PS2) yet I always felt the core gameplay was weak. Same with FFIII on DS. Perhaps they do focus too much on graphics.

FFIII just didn't do it for me ey. Graphic's weren't all that great either, even compared to Revenant Wings and FFIV.

Gameplay wise:
FFIII: Average
Revenant Wings: Average/ borderline poor.
FFIV: Briliant.

Graphics wise:
FFIII: Meh. Nothing special.
Revenant Wings: Pretty bloody good.
FFIV: Brilliant.

The FFI remake on the PSP was... okay I guess. Graphics were certainly improved, but still held that retro charm I reckon..

Its an obvious trend in video games these days. Companies are pressured to make games pretty, so there is more focus on graphics than mechanics. Sure their are good games that play well and look good, but look at Fable II, freaking ten hours for a RPG? Thats ****ing horse ****.

And sure, you can keep spell names and whatnot the same, but that doesn't mean you should base the plot off of the storyline from another game, let alon one from your own franchise (unless it's like FFXIII and FFXIII Versus, for example, or if it's a sequel).

My point is that they need to spend more time on storytelling and less time on graphics.


At least, that's what I'm lead to believe by what I've seen/heard/read. I've only ever played FFIII =/ (which I thoroughly enjoyed, btw).

Wasting moves does make an impact because there is alot more focus in comboing the right moves. So using straight attacks won`t do you much good, because you get more moves each turn than you normally would, making each one a little weaker.

I think I got the jist of it just watching him input commands. I think it would be something like say you have 3 action points for Lightning one turn. You use attack(1), fire(2), which makes it stronger than say attack attack attack. You gotta combo your commands. Or like attack attack cure. Or shit like that. I was under the impression that the PS3's architecture (much like the PS2's) utilized high-bandwidth with low latencies and smaller amounts of RAM versus low bandwidth, high latencies, and large amounts of RAM (like in computers) to increases and optimize performance.

Battle System:
- The battle system is not as seamless as in Final Fantasy XII, but the transition is fast enough to feel like a seamless system
- The monsters have varied weights, it is more difficulty to finish larger beasts than smaller weaker ones
- The camera can be moved freely in the battles, it also moves automatically when you perform certain commands
- You can chain attacks in sequences, the more attacks you connect, the more damage is directed at the player
- Chain Break occurs when you chain several attacks together, enemy suffers more damage when this happens
- Mixing chains, lifts and breaks is important in boss battles
- At the end of the battle, player receives stars based on your performance

Character:
- Lightning is a sword fighter who look menacing, but also feminine and not too masculine
- Snow originally has a childish nature, but the idea was dropped. Now he is more like a big brother
- Vanilla is a lively girl, cheerful and have a positive attitude
- Sazh also has positive attitude, but have an inner demon, which he needs to face later in the game

Because it's monopolizing a commodity. I could be wrong, but last I checked, you can't have a monopoly over a popular product. That's one reason why AMD was allowed to copy Intel's x86 architecture.

It's because usually a monopoly is bad for end consumers. I mean, I'm probably wrong too, but if Sony can charge other people for their technology, then Sony can make their stuff way cheaper than everyone else, at equal or better quality. Basically making it pointless for other companies to even try and sell a product.

In the end, consumers are left at the mercy of Sony whenever it comes to Blu-Ray, as Sony will be able to charge whatever the hell they want. And people will buy it because eventually all new movies and whatnot will only be available in Blu-Ray, and obviously only Blu-Ray players will be able to play them.

That`s what happens in every industry..

Without Sony I`d be willing to bet that Blu-Ray would not have become the dominent format, so don`t they kind of have a right to make money off it? Microsoft doesn`t have to switch to Blu-Ray. No movie companies have to switch to Blu-Ray. Sony just put out a new format, and if you want to use it, tough ****, pay up. Because they could of --in the first place-- just put the kibosh on it and then Microsoft or Universal, for example, would never get the chance to use it.

I don't mind more than one disc. You're talking about a minute of inconvience, unless you're stupid and lose one of the discs. The only major problem is if one of the discs gets scratched. I had Lost Odyssey on four discs with no problem.
And doesn't installing onto the hard drive take up a lot of room? The reason I haven't gotten any of the games on demand is because of the space it takes up.

ff11 took up like 12gb on space on my ps3, im guessing installing the entire 14 will be moreso.

Epic fail, I thought we were talking about FF14. It's still gonna suck when you want to do the mass amount of side quests that FF games tend to offer, and when you wanna backtrack at all.

Considering that this game is likely to be HUGE, I wouldn't doubt something like an entire continent being devoted to each disc. As long as the storyline is linear and the sidequests are relatively isolated, it shouldn't be too much of an issue.

On a serious note, I hear there's gonna be a grid system similar to FFX's sphere grid. I hope it's closer to that than the system they used in FFXII, where every character could learn to use every weapon. It made the game dull.

The sphere grid was a kickass balance between classed gameplay and character flexibility. I liked having my time mage swordsman and blue mage dragoon. It gave you a reason to switch them in and out as the battle unfolded, instead of just cycling them around like pawns in FFXII.
