This is how I think

If you want to have a better performance and presentation, get a PS3

If you want a game to be more fun, get a 360. Sure, GTA online would be fun on PS3, but it's oh so much more satisfying to RPG a 10 year old whiney kid out of a helicopter and do motorbike jousting.

Same goes for most online games on both systems; TF2 is much more fun on 360 because more people are playing (though now it's officially dead because nobody plays it anymore *tear*)

Rebounding health does take the challenge away from shooters but then again when you had a numeric value it meant that you could be shot by a tank and not die due to the sparseness of health packs and the like. Neither are realistic, and there's no happy medium for difficulty.

Crysis did "rebounding health" fairly well. It made sense in the way it was presented (suit modes and all) and you can't take one billion shots either.

No game can have completely realistic health. I mean, if you did you'd walk into a health pack and spend 10 minutes applying bandages and morphine injections. And even then, shot placement is so unrealistic. I cant think of a single game where you're shot in the leg so you have to limp, or shot in the hand so you cant hold with it.

Yeah that's pretty good, but it doesn't do anything about it. I can understand the whole not limping stuff in HL2 with the suit and Halo with the armour, but in Call of Duty where you're pretty much wearing cloth there's no excuse.

The only game that comes to mind for me with even remotely realistic health is MGS3, where you had to apply bandages and things for serious wounds, and if you were bleeding your health would drain slowly.

There's a reason we play video games I guess. Take you away from reality.

I want a frikken game where they would make realistic health and consequences... like arms in a cast n **** like that... get shot, you have to dig for that bullet, or pay the hospital to do it for you. Although that would mean for easy mode, they have to make npc's miss allot lol. Imagine you in a fight with a guy holdin a machette... makes your heart race knowing you can lose an arm... cuz thats how it is in real life... scares the **** outta you...
oh, and you cant have multiple save spots for a single character.. like pokemon, so if you die, you.. pretty much screwed. would also be awesome if it was made open ended. you can be things like a drug dealer, up to police officers... when children see the death rates of the crime ppl... lets see them copy that like GTA.

Worst idea ever. Pokemon is aimed at younger kids. Would you like to be the one telling a 10 year old they just lost a fight and now get to start all over again?

So far Fallout 3 looks like a bad FPS with bad RPG elements. It might be fun anyway, but they're trying too hard to please everybody:

1) Old Fallout fans who want their turn-based battle system. (the V.A.T.S. thing, or where he targets certain areas himself if you're not in the know) V.A.T.S. looks kind of annoying so far. I was sick of the slow-mo by the third time.

2) The new generation of FPS console kiddies. He said you could get through the game by talking to people, sneaking past things, etc... yet he only showed the combat. I think I'm looking at Oblivion with guns here. No way in hell the shooting is going to be as good as COD4. People will be disappointed.

It's looking meh on both fronts, so all in all people will likely be disappointed. And I don't see how Bethesda is going to balance using character's weapon's skill in the V.A.T.S. against actual real-time combat.

Until it redeems itself or gets modded the **** out of, I'll play FFVII for my RPG fix and Far Cry 2 or Crysis for my sandbox FPSness thankyaverymuch. =/

Actually to my knowledge, a lot of 360/PS3 games have that split - 360 games tend to be more stable, have a higher framerate, and generally run smoother, while PS3 versions of those same games tend to have higher graphics, higher resolution/polygon count, with a slightly lower framerate.

True. I still think GTA on the DS will fail, unless they do it like the PSP games, which means basically the same old GTA with different missions.

Nintendo seems to be relying on the novelty of the DS and the Wii, when in reality it has long passed. For the true gamers atleast.

Actually, I would imagine Sony would highlight the fact that Final Fantasy XIII Versus is still exclusive (I believe).

Or it would be better not to mention it at all, yes.

The only RPG-related megaton announcement I can imagine from Sony to counter Microsoft is the long rumoured FFVII remake.

So a few year's from now, we'll have better quality hardcore titles!

The irony is, after all the complaints that Nintendo were simply relying on the big names to get through, the conference was poor because there was no big name games.
They could have talked about the Wario game. Big enough to be recognised, but unique enough to not be considered as simply reusing the same idea.

@Me111: That's a good point you bring up. And it also doesn't make sense. During the conference, everyone who was up, Reggie, Iwata, the crazy woman, kept talking about focusing on only a "few" games - "we have a ton of ideas coming up, but at this conference right now we are only going to focus on these three" (paraphrased), and they keep emphasizing that.

Why not at least announce other titles? Why not show videos of all the titles, and then focus on whichever the hell they want?


EDIT: Dipset, if I remember correctly, E3 2005 was considered very very weak for Sony.

I don't get this, I just don't get it... I get what Me111 is saying, maybe Nintendo is afraid that revealing a hardcore title or previewing a title like Mad World/Conduit will completely remove focus from the casual games? Maybe they think we'd only be blabbering about those titles and not give a damn about Wii Music?

If that's true, then it might actually be a decent strategy IF - and only if - Nintendo pulls through in the next few days and does a Brawl-esque reveal.

Even though it was revealed when E3 was over, the hype and explosion that came after it carried it for months to come. The hardcore press will do its job and the fans will get excited regardless of when the game is revealed.
