Oh, and you guys are not going to come 2nd this generation. Sorry 'bout that.

Careful. They could be the Meta.
And not first either. Let's clear up that hole so he can't say that.
Edit: While I'm at it I was just at Future Shop for about 45 minutes looking at flat screen 1080Ps and there was someone in the PS3 section looking for a game. He was still there when I left.

You know, it suddenly strikes me too. Nintendo is going after the casual market as its main focus, no doubt about that, but then I wonder about all the major titles Wii has gotten. Zelda (GameCube port it may be), Mario, Metroid, Smash, Kart... those are some of Nintendo's AAA and most cherished franchises, and we've already seen more than solid entries in all of them.
I suppose this "gap" in the hardcore market was inevitable, both as a result of switching resources to developing casual games and because we've already gotten so many hardcore games.
My guess is, Nintendo has plenty of games it is working on (as Iwata mentioned) by EAD, its main and strongest development team. But it's simply been too soon since the release of Super Mario Galaxy, Twilight Princess, Smash, etc. for them to have had the time to create new hardcore titles, at least not so soon.
So in the meanwhile, they use the time to develop these casual titles - unfortunate as it is for us - because they also happen to sell well and can keep the company going.

EDIT: Also, unsurprisingly, Miyamoto confirmed a Zelda for Wii is being worked on. IGN also mentioned:
At GDC 2007, Eiji Aonuma gave a presentation on The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. At that time, he showed a brief snippet of an experimentation the Zelda team conducted -- it was Twilight Princess running in the first-person view. We asked Miyamoto if such a fundamental change could await players of Wii's next Zelda adventure.

I'm disappointed with the fact that Nintendo's still making the Wii too casual, or at least looking like it is. No ToS: Dawn of a New World or The Conduit mentions, to say the least. Still, I can't believe that a Grand Theft Auto game is coming to the DS.
Fallout 3 just looks amazing. I can't wait to see more videos on it.

I'm going to take a wild guess and say that was directed at Zeypher or someone else?
I had a dream last night where I was in the movie "Mr. and Mrs. Smith," and half of it was at a fair place thing, and then They were shooting at eachother in the house, and then the FBI came, and I was like "Don't worry, I'll handle this" and I told the FBI that I was lying, and then two kinda hot FBI agents handcuffed me, and then for some reason I couldn't stand up straight, so they were laughing and trying to carry me to a van, and then all of a sudden I was in Starwars: Battlefront 2, and the three of us were in turrets shooting things.
It was pretty wierd.

LOL! So true, so true.
But at the risk of falling into the pattern, Sonic Unleashed is based on an entirely new engine, and you can see it from the trailer. Insanely frantic and quick, this is exactly what Sonic 3D should be. Looks fantastic.
I'm a little hesitant about the nighttime/werewolf segments however, though I'll refrain judgment until I see gameplay from that.
EDIT: I can't find a link, but apparently Nintendo is hosting a private, closed conference at 5pm PST (8pm EST). Brawl was revealed in a similar fashion two years ago.

Huh. I had something to say about Animal Crossing but I completely forgot what it was.
So I'll just say this instead:
*Real holidays are back, including Christmas, Halloween, and a new carnival.
*Multiplayer is easier, allows microphone and USB keyboard.
*Visit people's cities even when they're not playing, can mail/send items to friends directly through post office without visiting.
*New furntiure and wallpaper and other items will be added to the game through regular content updates using WiiConnect24.
*Take a bus, driven by Kapp'n, to the new city area with fashion boutique (owned by Gracie and employing a new Able Sister), auction house, salon, theater, Happy Room Academy, and more.
*Clothes can be precision-edited, meaning you can draw one pattern for the front, the back, and each sleeve instead of just applying one single design to the whole thing.
*Pointer controls are available, and vastly improved user interface includes features like a quick-switch for items without having to go into inventory.
*Animals are no longer stuck inside when you have friends visiting, they'll now wander outside freely.
*All four players can be in a house at once, and you can move furniture even when you have people visiting in your house. (not sure how I feel about this)
*New giant furniture pieces (e.g. a wrestling mat about 5x5 squares)
*Much higher texture res, faces are no longer blurry masses.
*Camera can be zoomed in and out even while outdoors, and you can switch between ACGC and WW camera styles.
*Camera and screenshot function, can share/send/mail photos and post them on the town bulletin boards.
*Varied topography, ACGC cliffs are back.
*Fish are in 3D.
*Improved animations, details, effects, etc. Less immediate but still noticeable visual changes. Characters animate more fluidly, ears bounce on villagers as they move, other small touches.
*Option to use Mii faces instead of standard villager faces for the player character.
*More furniture, items, villagers, conversations, etc., more of all the basics.
*ABILITY TO MOVE ITEMS AND CHARACTERS FROM DS TO WII.
So yeah. I'm pretty hyped.

Damn WD you got there first! Still she's a bit weird isn't she. And she seems to be a self confessed newbie.
She also seems to dodge a few questions, like the one about the hardcore fanbase and the harddrive issues. Even so I don't want to write her off straight away, it was clear that Nintendo were in the midst of a transition between the last bunch of big name titles and the next ones, and it's difficult to build up enthusiam with some of the titles on offer.

SM: Frankly, some of the so-called "franchise games" are quite difficult for nongamers to play, so making accessible games for these players is key. With Zelda, we have to consider how to make it accessible for new gamers to pick up and play and enjoy just as hardcore gamers have. For example, we've got the Touch Generations series. Now, we're not necessarily going to make our "franchise" games in that style, but we'll take what we know and have learned -- the philosophy behind those games -- and incorporate it into franchise games. That's a philosophy that's very strong at Nintendo.
GGGGGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGE!!!
What makes Nintendo even think so-called "casual gamers" are even gamers or interested in games? Let alone their franchises? God damn you, Nintendo, god damn you.

So while attending an E3 event like this, they might be given the impression that Nintendo is no longer focusing on the games that appeal to the core gamer, in fact we’re still working on many of those titles, but it’s just not the type of event where we’ll be showcasing that anymore.

Ever since it was reduced drastically however (the "E3 Media & Business Summit"), it really hasn't had that same strength or merit for any developer.
That leaves the Tokyo Game Show and the new E for All as the annual game conventions that had the style and sensation of the old E3.

She needs to whacking shut up. Periphreals DO NOT make the console. They're more like sugar-coatings. And Nintendo is doing a half assed job of catering to the hardcore fans. It's absolutely pathetic.
Her view is so heavily biased that it's not even funny. The reason why she thinks Nintendo is so great is because she only has enough skill to play casual games. The people who Nintendo should be catering to, the people who have been buying their products for years, don't care about a game being easy to pick up and play.
Nintendo's just been in it for the money lately, and it's sickening.

Plus, FFXIII is now comming out for it, and I always wanted to try more of the FF franchise (I've only ever played FFIII, and it was the DS remak. I loved it though). Other than that, Borderlands is hopefully going to be awesome.

Anyway, Sony can suck my duck, and I'm not selling my Wii.
Once I get a job (and build up some cash to fall back on for maintaining/fueling my car) I'm going to buy a 360. FFXIII, MGS4, and maybe one or two other games were my only reasons for getting a PS3. I'll get a PS2 instead. But I'm till going to get a 360 as soon as I can.

If you're cheap you can just buy the 20GB model and then swap in a bigger drive.

I'm telling you, everything the 360 does, the PS3 can and usually does do better.

The PS3 makes games look prettier. The 360 makes games run smoother.

I don't own a 360, so I can't name every exclusive off the top of my head. I believe Brderlands is, though, and it's probably going to sell really well.
And Zeph, the 360 is looking better than the Wii at the moment. The Wii's only got a few good titles ou, and only a few that are expected to come out soon.
