I hate the Jecht fight. Seriously it's so annoying. Go around collecting a bunch of spheres whilst bumping into icicles, before enjoying YET ANOTHER CUTSCENE. Then, when you finally arrive at the fight, Jecht has two stupid rocks that take off any bad ailments and heal him at the same time. Seriously, I just hate this fight so much. I know exactly what to do, and it just doesn't work.

I never had any trouble with that fight. Probably because I put it off for so long doing sidequests and such.

Gambits are one thing I haven't invested much in.

In a typical random battle, you don't need much; just a healing command followed by an attacking command. Of course, once you start getting more gambits and a longer command list, you can start to pull off some more interesting strategies.

Yeah, everybody has the cure, then attack gambits.

The Augments really help though.

Between FFX, FFX-2 and FFXII, X wins hands down.

There's also FFXI, but you can't play that on the Slim for hardware reasons.

I actually had the most fun with X-2, but X brings back the most memories. XII was just there. It was awesome in the beginning, but slowly faded as I progressed.

As long as you love FF, all three are must buy imo.

I'd suggest X, and just X alone. It had a great storyline and it was fun to play. I didn't really enjoy the class system in X-2, it just seemed like an idea they pulled from their own buttocks. The storyline wasn't too shabby, but not enough to grip me.

Avoid XII, at all costs. 'nuff said.

I still hate Jecht. Slow seems to miss the two rocks about 75% of the time, and Armour Break only seems to be used just before a rock removes it from him. Plus even if you get past the first form, he takes out his sword and just kills you. He got two turns in a row. It's just not fair.

XII is easily the best of the PS2 games, X is very good but has some annoying flaws (Why is it so damn linear!?). X-2 has great gameplay but everything sucks hard

There was a letter in the Official Playstation 2 Magazine about how Square focuses too much on FF and not enough on their other games. I thought it might have come from you Laharl. :)

Really Laharl? So far I've found FFXII to be little more than just random story points and constant levelling.

XII's political plot was amazing and i loved it focused on the entire group over rather than the usual fap idol main character with a big sword.

The gameplay and battle system is the most enjoyable and refreshing thing by SQEX for years. Traditionalists can go philate the barrel of a shotgun.

Its long, its challenging and the soundtrack is good

i'm bore so a direct comparison of the three PS2 games will done of the things i deem important in an FF

I'm surprised you can discern any sort of decent plotline from between the lines of royal drivel. There is pretty much zero character development throughout the entire game, so much so that they have to throw in a bad joke every now and then to remind you of their humanity.

The battle system would have been good if it weren't so flawed, such as the gambits being far too basic and the fact that you'll never use half of the abilities you obtain.

Long and challenging = stretched-out and requiring assloads of training.

Oh, and FFX pwns any soundtrack.

i take it you havent fought the last few marks then, as the complexity of your gambits becomes insane, or would you prefer retarded computer AI instead?

i was a curious player i had **** loads of fun going to areas i shouldnt and exploring, gaining lots of levels without even noticing, also playing with your front party only makes you alot stronger level wise

I'm reading through a transcript right now and I still can't figure what they're on about. Whenever they bring up the subject of Vayne I'm completely lost. I didn't sign up for this. When I play an RPG I don't want politics, I want storylines.

I liked FFXII's plot, but the main characters (with the exception of Ashe and the Captainwho'snameIcan'tremember) didn't feel too linked with it. Vaan's only real link was the fact that his brother was killed by the Empire, which isn't the most the original idea ever. The politics of the story helped to make it feel like things were occuring outside of the role you played as the character.
Overall though, my experience was pretty poor with FFXII, for similar reasons that Split made. I guess I'm one of those traditionalists that Laharl went on about.

I hated XII. The sub-par story, huge lack of character development, and horrible battle system pretty much prevented me from ever finishing it. My opinion, of course.

If XIII is really having the ATB system, then thank God. I was really hoping that SE wouldn't use XII's battle system in this game, too.
