Animal crossing has a market so why cant this?
And this wouldn't be mundane, this would have a bitchin' plot full of political intrigue and spies infiltrating the US and blowin' up monuments n shit to prepare them for counter-invasion.
There'd be a bunch of rogue countries that just fight both sides (India heads the rogue states with spain as a close follow-up). Say the US invaded the Fawklands, Chile and Brazil would launch a counter attack against Mexico (half of which has been annexed to the US, the other half an anarchistic rogue faction) as an ultimatum for the Fawklands.
The United American Front (as the US would now be known) would let loose their hidden nuclear arsenal in Hawaii and Easter Island, creating a nuclear-dead zone along the north-border of Brazil, preventing them from mobilising.
Panama Canal would be closed and militarised by UAF, breaking crucial trade routes for Europe. Ireland would be the guinea pig for a UAF secret orbital weapon, leaving most of the country devastated. Russia would take to space on behalf of the UK and have bitchin' space battles with UAF Dreadnought class space stations, breaking out a secret space facility been worked on in Siberia since the Cold War.
North Africa and the Middle East would (now the African-Arab Territories or AAT) would have a giant rift in them, creating a civil war amongst the super state. One one side, those in favour of European Liberation Front (International threat-response agency on behalf of European invasion from elsewhere), who vote in the Pan-national congress in favour of joining, and the secular independents who are strongly opposed.
China backs the ELF and so intervenes in the AAT on behalf of the supporters, whilst southern African states, the African Republic (AR) backs the independents, seeing it as a massive potential territory grab. AR is a rogue state itself, whilst China, now the far dominant economic superpower of the world cannot pledge direct support to the ELF as they are fighting a fronted war with India; the annexation and subsequent rebellion of Bangladesh has only complicated matters.
China and Russia are also on uneasy terms as Russia has attempted to invade mongolia many times in previous few decades but failed due to Chinese intervention. Many thought it would lead to WWIII but it never quite escalated to such international levels.
France, Germany, the British Republic (monarchy deposed in 2023) and EEC (Eastern European Collaboration consisting of 16 smaller states all run independantly but in international politics, they join in the EEC) are still initially reeling from the all-out attack from UAF, with Ireland devastated, North france turned into an American enclave and Scotland under siege are fighting a fast-losing resistance. Italy is under pressure from the AR and Spain to join the rogues, but refuses to go either way.
Australia has mobilised into the pacific, to attack the UAF west-coast; an area left largely unguarded due to Japan's neutrality. Australia has also deployed support to the EU, but the civil war between AAT sections has destroyed the Suez canal, and declared a no-fly zone between Israel and Libya. This leaves the options of going around the South African Peninsula, which would take too long to respond and by then the BR would have been fully-taken over, or through Iraq and Iran, which are neutral in the AAT war but could switch at any moment.
Thailand, Korea (North was reoccupied by the south in 2014) and Japan are now working in an economic and technological community of the EAC, East Asian Collaboration, though have remained neutral in the conflict so far. Japan have sympathies with the EU following World War 3, when the Peoples Republic of China mounted an offensive against East Asia. This was quelled by a joint Russian-UK(at the time)-Indian pact, preventing an advance. Japan have also been developing experimental warfare technology; the majority in the prototyping process. It's assumed that once these classified projects reach mass-manufacture, they will pick a side (DEFINITELY NOT UBERMECHS).
Meanwhile, the moon colonies (Russia, US and China) are having their own problems, with Russia activating Lunar weaponry to aid the space-battle, with China attempting to restrain them due to the high resource cost and Earth-Luna space blockades preventing any renewal of said resources. The US colony has been isolated and cut off, as joint Russian and Chinese troops overran it by force, looting it of valuables and weaponry, leaving it only with essential power supplies.
You play as 4 different characters throughout the game; a pro-EU AAT rebellion commander, attempting to hold the Egyptian Citadel at the heart of the empire in order to secure a ceasefire in AAT territories. A 'choice' system decides if you surrender to the Independant Loyalists or if you fight for the EU; choices will impact the game later.
The next would be a Japanese spy in placed in Los Angeles, the UAF technological hub to move across to Washington. You deploy experimental EAC tech, such as cloak shields and large scale EMP devices. Missions include destroying west coast communication networks based in LA, sabotaging the Hoover Dam to essentially disable most of the western UAF territories, and destroying the Washington monument to signal the start of the counter-attack from the Eastern Nations.
The next character would be a Russian space pilot who mounts several attacks on key US space facilities, ultimately destroying/taking over (your choice again) their orbital bombardment systems. You'd make trips the the moon colonies and suppress any US insurrections, and use political choices to either overrule or comply with the Chinese, in regards to the Lunar-weaponry.
The final character would be a BR general, who is co-ordinating the counter invasion following the destroying of the Washington Monument of the UAF. This would have both Civ and FPS gameplay elements; re-establishing trade-routes with allies (this is where your choices come into play; if you've made enemies then you will have less resources available to you. Conversely, if you have made controversial choices (Moon weaponry overruling etc) then you may have less resources available/ even have countries entirely withdraw support.
Once you've established what you deem necessary to mount a counter invasion, you take control of a few crucial FPS battles; the Battle of Staten Island to secure New York; the sacking of New Orleans to secure the East Coast hub, the ultimatum of Mexican Territories (either liberate and have them join you or destroy them), the taking of Chicago (Canada becomes a choice here; free them from UAF oppressors and make them join you, free them to do what they like, or destroy them) and finally, the push on Washington, where you storm the Capitol Building and the White House to depose the dictator/president.
I think it would be a fucking awesome game IMO.

Not having a world superpower is paramount to anarchy on a global level (not that all countries revert to anarchy, but the relations between them will be anarchic). Not really, China are far more self-sufficient than the US. Yeah there's a lot of mutual reliance but if the world economy went down the shitter, China would recover far faster. It's exports are RIDICULOUS in scale.

Many smaller businesses are choosing to produce products here in the states since they have such little control over the quality of their products when they're produced in China. That's because the Chinese manufacturers cater to the bigger companies, and the smaller guys get the short end of the stick. This poor quality control makes it more financially feasible to produce products in the states, since the businesses have much better control over the quality of their products.
Basically, products from smaller companies that are produced in the States are of higher quality than the products of equally-sized businesses producing products in China. However, bigger corporations (like Apple) will benefit from the cheaper cost of Chinese labor since the manufacturing companies there are more willing to comply with the bigger company's requests (since it's getting them a lot of cash).
