Nope. Havn't gotten it yet. Besides, I don't have a Wi-Fi hub to hook up to.

Split, a "friend code" is a part of a little system Nintendo likes to use to keep little kids safe and drive older kids insane. To be able to hook up to another DS online and battle/race/whatever against that other person, you must first enter their friend code for that game into your DS. Don't worry, all Wi-Fi enabled games come with an instruction booklet.

Lol, don't worry, I slept. =P I played 11 hours of the game on Sunday, though.

Anywho, I decided to play a little bit Tuesday night so I could beat the Elite Four, and I did. I've done several post-game things: I transferred some Pokemon from my FireRed, I caught three Legendaries, and I did some more stuff.

I'm gonna get a wireless router soon so that I can trade with people worldwide. =D And play with people with my other DS games and my Wii games.

gold version? what genertation are you from, i gave mine up when i found out i could not steal my little brother's pokemon on silver and the other olds games, and put them on ruby or saphire. which is stupid.

Why in god's name would you need to use Gold version to transfer your data to Ruby/Sapphire when you could easily spend $40 more to use FR/LG? <_< That's a marketing ploy for you.

But besides that, it was kinda nesiscary (sp? D:). Ruby/Sapphire are much more advanced than Gold/Silver/Crystal. It's an entirely new system, and the technology to allow backwards compatibility to that kind of extent hasn't been around 'till now. There was always Pokemon Colloseum on top of that for any G/S/C pokemon that weren't in Ruby/Sapphire, though of course you either have to have a friend with it, or pay the extra cash to buy the game. It all boils down to how badly you want it though.

i have colisium, i just wish i could have transfered my stuff from gold and silver, thats all.

but i do think it would be cool if the next edition took a page from gold/silver, and had you travel to mutilpe regions to earn more badges. other wise, whre is the continued challenge. who needs another 100 pokemon to collect, when could could battle gym leaders from all the regons. that would prove you are the best trainer.

I'd like every generation to add more Pokemon, but it was awesome on Gold/Silver/Crystal that one could travel to both Johto and Kanto. It would be nice if the next generation could do that, but it's way too early to be thinking about it. =P

Me and three friends got tired of watching everybody play Diamond and Pearl. So we're starting a joint effort to beat the first two generations of games. Red, Blue, Silver, and Gold. I started Red again yesterday and its way more fun than I remember. Nostalgia is awesome.

you sould be able to play original game boy and game boy color games on the DS. the can be played on the GBA after all.

I thought it would be like that for me, but going in it with friends makes it more bearable. I'd still rather be the guy playing Silver or Gold, too bad I don't have those games.

It doesn't really matter which one you get. If you like Dialga (Diamond's legendary) more than Palkia (Pearl's legendary), then get Diamond. Both versions basically get the same Pokemon, but there are two major differences:

1. Each version has a couple version-exclusive Pokemon.
2. For some Pokemon, the rate they're found is different in each version.

As for starters, it depends on personal preference. I got Chimchar because I've always enjoyed the Fire type starters more than the others.

Oh, by the way, you can't do anything with the GB games on the DS. You just have to depend on the GBA games and Wi-Fi to get every Pokemon. <_<

until i get a DS, i cant really say which game or which critter. how far into the game untill you can trade, specificly trading from the GBA games. i want to get a charmander onto mine as early as posibale to use.

You won't be able to transfer Pokemon from the GBA games until you've defeated the Pokemon League and received the National Dex (Which you get after seeing all 50 Sinn'oh Pokemon). After that, you can transfer.

You REALLY need to stop doing that. Acting all high and mighty gets annoying, and fast. Besides, I wouldn't be so quick to judge other people when there's people out there, like me, who have more than one crew of lvl 100's. The only difference probably being that I used cheats to get rare candies, and in turn level'd my guys up one at a time with the macho brace.

Now as for the names and looks of the new guys, It's becoming harder and harder to believe that they were all made up at the same time. I can see Gold/Silver's being created at the same time as Red/Blue's, but I just can't picture a flaming ape and yellow mouse side by side. That being said, some of the new names are pretty ghay. I mean, Palkia? WTF? That sounds like some cheap E.D./anti-cholesterol/whatever tablet advertised on TV.

And yes, it was stated even before it came out that the DS would not be able to play anything earlier than Advanced games. So GBC and the origional are out of the question.

Lol, one of the main reasons I got Diamonds is because I like diamonds more than pearls. XD

Two or three days ago, I traded with two people Wi-Fi and got the three 2nd generation starters (Chikorita, Cyndaquil, Totodile). I've gotten Chikorita to Bayleef, Cyndaquil to Typhlosion, and Totodile to Croconaw. =D

Yea think I will do Diamond, although the monster on Pearl looks heaps tougher.
Also might start as Turtwig. I like the look of the other two starter's but their evolved forms look crappy. Plus I did Bulbasaur in Pokemon Blue.

Yea Ebay would be your best bet, can pick them up really cheap and with games sometimes.
If not just do the normal thing and go to EB, pretty cheap nowadays.

Question here. They've changed the way moves work. How are they different? Would blizzard still be effective againest grass and water againest fire or what?

Yes, the type matchups are all exactly the same as always. The thing that's changed is the way the moves are organized into Physical and Special attacks. Here's what I mean:

Before, moves were Physical or Special based on the type. For example, all Fire-type attacks were Special attacks, all Normal-type attacks were Physical attacks, etc. Now, all moves are Physical and Special based on whether the move is making physical contact or not. This means that moves like Flame Wheel and Spark are now Physical attacks and moves like Hyper Beam are now Special attacks.

By the way, Physical attacks run on the Attack stat and Special attacks run on the Special Attack stat.

i was just at the pokemon website and i saw pictures ofsome of the new pokemon. is it just me or does it seem that more and more of the new pokemon are getting to be cutesy wutesy with each generation. except for the legendaries, do any of the other pokemon actaly look tough or strong, aside from maybe the starter pokemon, which almost always look bad ass at their final evolution.

Split, if you have to ask that question, you phail at life. You can pick one up at any non-commercial store (that means no Wal-Mart esque stores) like GameStop or Babbages for instance. Updating on my Pokemon Red situtation, I beat the game and am waiting for the other three to catch up. My lineup is pretty unique and pretty awesome.

Okay, your team is pretty good, but it's far from unique. You're using the final eveolve form of a starter, the most powerful Pokemon in the game, Gyarados and Dragonite(Dragonair for now, but I'm sure you'll evolve him). Many people use them, for good reason of course, but they aren't unique Pokemon. I'm surprised and impressed by Chansey though, I don't think a lot of people use it, but I find having a legendray Pokemon in your main team quite cheap.

I was mostly pointing out the Chansey with the "unique" statement. I realize that using legendary pokemon is a wussy move, but I don't have anything better, so whatever. Chansey is pretty sweet though because it knows Double Team and Substitute. Then when I've made a clone and can't be hit, I hit them hard with Blizzard and Solarbeam. That's my uniqueness in a nutshell.

Both attacks are powerful, and because of their types, they cover a wide variety of types and can be very useful in a battle. However, I'd also suggest switching out solar beam for earthquake because 1)Solar beam takes a little while to charge, 2) Earthquake covers many types as well, 3) Earthquake is a very strong move, and 4) Earthquake can be used more often. Blizzard will take care of the flying, water, poison, and any other type that's resistant to ground type attacks, so having blizzard + earthquke could turn out better than solar beam + blizzard. Though I'm not sure if earthquake was in the Red/Blue versions.

if you have Sunny Day, it allows you to use Solar Beam without charging for a turn. i just don't recall if Sunny Day is in Red and Blue.

Besides, earthquake has twicw as much PP, and it can attack every turn without "assistance."

But I do believe you can get more than one erthquake, and even so, Machoke can be a pretty strong fighter, and even better if evolved into Machamp.

No, Sunny Day was introduced in Gold/Silver.

I'm on a role with trades. I traded two Elekids with Electirizers (Which, for me, are very easy to get), one for a Milotic and one for a Celebi. I love the fact that people desperately need Pokemon that I can get with minimal effort. :P

Several Pokemon make better use of earthquake than Machamp, though. Give it to a strong Ground typw to get the Same Type Attack Bonus.

It did affect Solar Beam in Gold and Silver, same for Thunder always hitting in the rain.

By far the best Earthquake user is Groudon, who was simply the best in R/S/E. But I doubt any of you wouldn't guess that. :P Btw, for good movesets and EV builds you should check around www.smogon.com. It's a very helpful site.
