I really agree with you. I to was pretty disapointed when I heard that Snake was in Brawl. But perhaps he'll be the only 3rd party char in there. Nintendo did had meetings with other 3rd party companies but that doesnt says anything. Really the only 3rd party character I'd wanna see is Geno from Mario RPG who is currently still owned by Square.

As an alternative, I think Nintendo should offer third-party characters maybe updated online; you could download additional characters, and this way, those that want to remain faithful to Nintendo's line-up can continue to play, whereas those people who want their 3rd party characters would be willing to go the extra distance to get them.

Nawh. This would change alot in the gameplay which would ruin the good aspects of Smash Bros I think. And downloading costs money so I'd much rather have them all in the game at once.

The idea could certainly hold for other things, though. Maybe new event stages, or the ability to download new appearances for your characters, trophies, etc.

I don't think Nintendo said WiiConnect24 might not exist. They feel it is very important to have this feature. And also, if you don't want stuff being downloaded to your Wii( <_< ) all you have to do is unplug the console.

Downloading new appearances for new character sounds like a good idea, as does downloading trophies.

I'd prefer to have Solid Snake as the only guest character in the game. SSBB has always been purely Nintendo, and I want it to stay that way. n.n

A better way to make the download new characters idea is to make them "hidden". To put them in the database, but not allow the player to have access to it until it is bought. If it is free, then you download an "enabler" that will allow access to the character. Same for costumes. Seeing as the costumes are a lot smaller in comparison to a whole new character altogether, it would be easier to have them in the database, but hidden until access is obtained.

Fire Emblem was a legend, in Japan. Most of my friends never even heard of it until Smash Bros. Everyone I knew had atleast an idea of Golden Sun before they heard of Fire Emblem, even though most don't play RPG's.

Also, Me111, Fire Emblem was an ongoing popular series. There was thus a reason to include Marth and Roy, because they would at least be representative of the franchise. However, it would be difficult to do the same with GS because, even if the characters were included, it only has two games for people to be familiar with, and only on the GBA. It's a far stretch to say that the Golden Sun series would be revived, but instead, people would be aware of it.

Pits inclusion really surprised me. I had heard of him but the game he was in was on the NES. I didn't think Nintendo would take a character who'd been in one game so long ago and put him in. I'm sure they've got a good plan for how he, and the other new characters will play.

Pit didn't surprise me. I refer to the old but famous NES games as Nintendo Legends. Pit is one of these. Heck, they even influenced The Legend of Zelda's Pegasus Boots, Light Arrows, and Mirror Shield.

We also have to take into consideration how many games the characters have been in that were released for a Nitnendo system. I'm not talking about handhelds, but true systems. Like Sora, for example. He isn't gonna be in SSBB, as good a character he might be. He's had more Sony Titles than Nintendo. Sonic started out as a Sega Title. They had to switch to Nintendo after Sega got out of the picture. I think It's a no for Sonic.

On the bright side, I think he's gonna be quite the addition in terms of speed. Him + the F-Zero stage in Adventure mode = H4X. He's probably gonna have enough speed to make Marth cry and get skid marks all over his cape.

Sonic was created by Sega and because Sega failed at making consoles they just made some more games for Nintendo. They would pick Sony or Microsoft any day of the week if they just could. :P

Snake was included because Kojima insisted (or rather, begged) Nintendo to do so. It just so happens that Snake began on a Nintendo platform.

Well actually Kojima begged Nintendo while they where creating Melee. Nintendo refused this because they where in the middle of creating Melee. Sakurai and Kojima were old friends, and Sakurai felt a little sorry for not having Snake in Melee so they'd add him in Brawl.

Nintendogs was a game they advertised thoroughly on release (and was also extremely popular on release), and now they are leaving it alone other than making what looks to be a brief cameo in SSBB. No, they aren't pushing it too far, talk to me after you own a DS and actually play the game.

They haven't forgotten us, they're developing TP which is specifically aimed at us veteran Zelda gamers. Although I'll admit that lately games like MC and New Super Mario have been fairly easy. I guess they're catering towards the new generation of young gamers that have come in.

You know, considering this is the original GameBoy, those graphics aren't half bad.

The original release of Pokemon (outside of Japan) were the Red and Blue versions, followed by the special Yellow version. In Japan, Red and Green were released first, together, followed by Blue, and then the Yellow version.

Regardless, going back to Super Smash Brothers (hey, how about that? It's the actual topic we're supposed to be on :P), Mars Djinni is correct about which Pokemon would appear in the next game. The "Advanced" series of Pokemon introduced with the GBA games would be the next group of Pokemon to be included, since people are already familiar with them.

At best, we can expect one or two special or legendary pokemon from the fourth series of Pokemon (the DS games) to promote them.

The original release of Pokemon (outside of Japan) were the Red and Blue versions, followed by the special Yellow version. In Japan, Red and Green were released first, together, followed by Blue, and then the Yellow version.

Regardless, going back to Super Smash Brothers (hey, how about that? It's the actual topic we're supposed to be on :P), Mars Djinni is correct about which Pokemon would appear in the next game. The "Advanced" series of Pokemon introduced with the GBA games would be the next group of Pokemon to be included, since people are already familiar with them.

At best, we can expect one or two special or legendary pokemon from the fourth series of Pokemon (the DS games) to promote them.

How about Blaziken as a playable character? Without doubt there are gonna be new characters from the Pokemon franchice. I think Blaziken does makes a change for that role. Also Lucario or something could be there to as a replacement for Mewtwo perhaps?

As for Kyogre in the Pokeballs I could see him doing some kinda rain attack. You are unable to jump an get 2% damage each time you get hit. Also Kyogre send some lightningbolt attack around the stage. If you get hit you'll get 18% damage more. ;) I like that idea.

What's Kyogre gonna do? Drop on the deck and flop like a fish? It would only make sense on a water map.

Pssht. In the Pokemon games you can use Kyogre (and other water-type Pokemon) wherever you want, even on land. He'd be immobile, yes, but he could serve as an unsurpassable obstacle as well as doing things like DDK mentioned.

The Pokemon battlefield is a theoretical plain, the Super Smash games are completely 3D. I think they'd be able to come up with something better than an unsurpassable obstacle.

Personally, I think it would be really cool if when Kyogre appeared, Rain Dance was summoned, just as DiddyKong suggested. It would damage other characters (think of how the Unkown appear in Melee; something similar to that, except with raindrops).

....Or kyogre could lay flat in one place and shoot out a long high powered stream of water, that's reallly big, can go through walls,and is electrically charged. And you can't get out of it, and it does 5+ damage a second. And at the end of the attack, he sends an electrical attack (thunder) down the stream of water and electricutes anyone stuck in the high powered stream of water, doing 50+ damage.

Groudon could use earthquake on the whole screen, or cause lava to shoot up from the ground...or both...

Kyogre floats. Rain dance is a good suggestion. As for Groudon, I'd say an immense volcano eruption complete with distracting screen-shake. For Rayquaza, Let it use outrage and cause a maelstrom of firebolts be blasted all over the place.

Toasty, during SSBM, the Metal series Pokemon made a debut. The Color series made a debut in SSB.

As for a Pokemon stage, Cave of origins would be nice, randomly becoming either a lava pool or a lake.

A stage for Star Fox would be the Aparoid homeworld. Just as that bullet thing cashes into the Peach's castle stage, occaisonally, the Great Fox will crash upon the middle of the aparoid world, destroying center stage and causing an explosion. Arwings and Aparoid ships would also strike players randomly. Either that, or SFA's Aparoid infected Sauria with charging dinosaurs like Onett's cars.

Playing as Rayqauza? Man thats impossible. You see, its impossible of grabbing legdes, jumping (because it flies all the time) and what about rolling, air dodging, grabing and others of those stuff. Rayqauza is unable to be a playable character. He's however a good addition for the Pokeball and I agree with MD that Outrage would be its attack.

As for Groudon, from up close he would do a earthqauke like attack. Much like Venusaur from Melee. But even while hes making eartqaukes, he'll uses Eruption and lets fiery boulders fall out of the sky all over the stage. Would be hard as hell to dodge in stages as Battlefield.

Mewtwo was chosen out of popularity. Pikachu was the official mascot of Pokemon. Jiggly was something Nintendo thought to be a fun addition. Freaky enough, they were right. (In my brother's case...) Pichu was added because if Pikachu wouldn't get the Aww-it's-so-goshdarn-ADORABLE factor, then Pichu would. It also is a good adition to kick off the Metal series.

Now, I don't see Rayquaza being insanely popular, a mascot for Pokemon, a fun addition as opposed to a one-sided addition, nor a drop-dead adorable character. I also don't see Rayqaza as recognizable to non-Pokemon fans.

The most likey characters that will get the axe are Pichu and Dr.Mario. Pichu is because it's just a pre-evolved Pikachu which didnt turned out to be a good characters due to short range and low power (however Mewtwo is considered being worse). Dr.Mario just because he's the least unique clone, just because he's Mario in a doctor's outfit. However don't count on much seeing Game and Watch or Mewtwo return either.

Well it depends on how you look at it; the systems are so different in Halo - Metroid.

Example: In the Metroid universe a Missile does not kill you in one hit, but in the Halo universe you die in one hit from a missile.

Master Chief will never be in this game because he uses real weapons. And real weapons is always something that the SSB franchise has stayed away from.

As for Samus/Master Chief, I think Samus would win just because of the Morph Ball. That's really an underrated advantage.

I think it'd be an even match. Master Chief has lower stamina IMO ( he only has an energy sheild that can be taken down quikly in certain situations ) but A very wide range of weapons. Samus has higher stamina ( all those energy tanks oughtta' keep her alive for a good while ), but fewer weapons ( though the missles might be a little more deadly ).

As for Brawl, apparently (according to smashbrawl.com) we might but might not get WiFi for Brawl.

Oh gawd, I remember when I was playing MKDS online. It was TERRIBLE.

The actual playing online part was fun, but MKDS is a very fast-paced game in all aspects. You can navigate the menus fast. The map loads are fast. The action is fast (and furious =P). Connecting to NWFC and getting someone to play against IS TERRIBLY SLOW and ruined the experience!

I really, REALLY hope that Nintendo ditches the "match-making" system for Wii. It might be that the DS can't support an internet lobby system for when players create and start a game, or maybe they just don't know how to do it. But they better figure it out for when they get the Wii out. (aw geez)

Well, I personally would rather play with friends in real life rather than online; but yes, Wi-Fi will still be something I'll look forward to as well.

All right then. Best characters are easily Marth and Falco. I had my doubts about Sheik, but I've been practicing with her (yes, I'm going to say she's a her... err, that sounded weird :P ), and I've gotten nearly as good with her.

With Marth and Falco, I can take on a team of two level 9 CPU opponents each.

My technique deals a lot with aerial attacks i.e. I jump quite often.

That's how I fare with Marth, too. I do a lot of skidding and wavedashing to annoy my opponent, though. Faking does get the worst out of them. From there, I can chain-throw if light enough or just juggle 'em with the double-slash aerial.

Let's hope Marth doesn't change other than his clothing. I'd miss doing that.

I never have been able to wavedash successfully in battle.....v.v But at least know how. But what I don't get, is what is really so great about it? So you slide a little bit on the stage....whoop de doo.....All I can see it being useful for is wavedashing backwards off of a ledge to keep an opponent from recovering.

Anyway. I've never played MGS, but if the creator is making the stage, it has to be good.

Fair enough. But still, they won't be released at the same time for a very simple reason:

At E3, Nintendo presented a demo of Super Mario Galaxy. It was also extremely polished, with the gameplay mechanics working very well with the Wii controller, and it even had what might be considered "next-gen" graphics to boot.

Or the other option is for Nintendo to delay release of Galaxy until the holidays, but doing that would leave the Wii without a major first-party title in early 2007 (which is exactly what happened to the GameCube).

Sakurai revealed a trailer of Super Smash Brothers: Brawl. He stated, however, that despite what the trailer showed, the game isn't even in a playable form yet, not to mention the fact that development on Brawl only began last October, whereas Miyamoto has been working on Galaxy for possibly two years now.

There's just no way that Brawl could be released in March when Super Mario Galaxy is released. Not unless, Sakurai and his mysterious new development team have some incredible talent, and even then, they'd have to work around the clock.

I agree as well. SSB is very different from Halo in the simple fact that the more players there are, the more the screen has to unzoom to show all the characters. With six players, it could get very hard to tell which character is yours!

Well, for SSBB yeah, but what about a multiplayer Metroid? You could go around on a level and try to kill your opponent a set number of times, and you might be able to pick up different beams. It's just an example, but Nintendo could use a more massive game like that. They harldy have any good (if any at all)FPS's for their systems!

Well, that game is called Metroid Prime: Hunters. But yeah, it's not a really massive multiplayer game and one of my dream games for the Wii is a Hunters 2, with many more players fighting at once. That would be awesome! Though they probably will make it eventually.

As for SSBB, I believe we all agree it should be kept at 4 players max.

You know, I wonder if Nintendo would want to follow the ways of past rumors for SSB:M and put Sonic in there. I'm starting to wonder what would his move set be?

I can imagine a stage dedicated to Sonic... where there are loops and turns; the other characters might have trouble scaling the obstacles, but Sonic can easily run through them all :)

Although, that would make the stage unbalanaced in Sonic's favor. Ah well.

Yeah, the stages aren't really unbalanced in their character's favour, they're more just a representation of the games they starred in.

Maybe there could be like flat ground above the loops where you could fight....

They should at least make a stage related to GS. Like the top of Mars or Venus lighthouse. After a while, the lighthouse lights up, and something happens accordingly, like it splits in half or something. That'd be cool.

I really think there is no question whether Sonic will be playable. Many people want to see him, Sega and Nintendo would be even closer, he is perfect for this kind of game and he is a classic character, just like Mario and Link. But I STILL don't want to see him or any other damn third party characters!!
