I can't see Peirs in Brawl with any kind of weapon. None suit his style. He's more of the kind of person that would fight with his cold, hard, hands. If any character from GS were in the game, they'd most likely weild the weapon that is in their art. Peirs has no weapon, so no weapon is weilded, Ivan has a staff, so he would use his staff to fight.

Let me start by saying that Marth has no pants in FE 1.

He's the guy that kicked off the series fo Fire Emblem, though. Maybe Roy would be replaced instead, since his job, sending FE to sail outside Japan, is finished. Ike does have a lot of power, given that Aether works, so he could replace Roy, if not Marth. Or, both of them can be taken out in the place of Black knight and Ike.

I don't want Marth to go, as much as it'd be great to have Ike in there. He's been my favourite Character to use, and I've gotten quite good with him...

Same with me. However, I believe Ike will replace Marth for two reasons;

- Marth began the Fire Emblem series; Ike is continuing it, with Path of Radiance for GameCube, and a sequel already set for Wii
- A more obvious one, but Ike has more of a 'blue' theme going, and makes sense to replace Marth, who is similar in that way

Dude, they have to throw out more characters than that for more reasons than one. First, so that no clones are in Brawl and secondly so that there is more room to add new characters. I agree whole-heartedly about kicking Dr. Mario, but you must have forgotten Pichu! Also, the Ice Climbers should be chucked out, except it would be sad not to have a fighter with two characters in one anymore. Maybe they can be replaced by Olimar and Louie from Pikmin 2.

I think, if a Pikmin character is a possibility, it would be Captain Olimar alone. If the Ice Climbers are removed, they probably won't be replaced because there is no pair quite as popular as them.

No Ike wont replace Marth I think. Marth was put in Melee because he was suggested by many fans. Nintendo rather wanted to include Sigurd but they didnt in the last version. Marth stared the very first FE game and thus is the most important character of the Fire Emblem franchice. Also the castle level with the flags appears to be a Fire Emblem stage. And most likely its the one from FE1 as said by smashboards.

Roy was putted into Melee for advertisement. I think he's gonna be removed, or replaced by either Ike or Sothe. I dunno if Ike will make a comeback in Fire Emblem Wii, but Im sure Nintendo will make Sothe the main character. Either one of them will make it, not both I think.

I agree with you with the removal or Doc and Game and Watch. Krystal? Perhaps. I dont see her coming in that fast but she does have a good chance. BUT the character with the highest chances is King DeDeDe. Sakurai himself said he planned that character for Smash64 and Melee but didnt had enough time... And he would make a exelent heavyweight character. The second most wanted/likely charcter is Diddy Kong & Dixie Kong as a Ice Climber-like duo. Sakurai went crazy when he heard that idea. I agree that the Ice Climbers are actually very good fighters. I never learned to play with them very well, but every time I use them I have many more KO's than with most other characters.

I don't want to see DeDeDe. Meta Knight is in the game, what do we need another(not as cool) Kirby character for? I think it would be better if they keep that space open for a second character from F-Zero or Metroid.

Hmmm yeah I agree with you DeDeDe isnt much of a cool character. Yet he's very much wanted by the Japanese fans. Also I think those characters Wikipedia mentioned make a pretty good change to, Im not all behind Sonic but Isaac, Olimar and Blaziken would really make my day.

Also Nintendo mentioned they are aiming for 40 characters, which means... No more then 40. But seeing we already have 26 (counting Sheik) this will mean atleast I think 20 more cuz some characters of the previous games (well I think only Melee, the others are way to classic) are gonna be removed.

No they never confirmed 40 characters they only said they are trying to aim for around 40 characters. But seeing as they had trouble designing the 26 characters for Melee I expect to see around 34~37 characters. And because they already have a hard time designing even the 26 characters from Melee dont expect much changes from the characters as Donkey Kong and Yoshi.

Donkey Kong and Yoshi don't need to be changed. The characters that DO need changing are Mewtwo(to make him a muuuuuch better fighter) and any of the clones that remain.
40 characters is too much! I think about 35 is ok. They should throw out at least 5 fighters from Melee, which would make 15 new characters.

Melee had 11 additional characters over the previous game (excluding Sheik).

Assuming 11 new characters are added to Brawl (including the five already revealed), that would result in 34 characters.

That also includes that only "one or two" more 3rd party characters are added, as Sakurai himself stated.

I don't mind having a lot of characters (around 35-40), but only as long as there aren't clones. The only thing the clones offered was the same moveset, but with either faster and weaker attacks, or slower and stronger attacks. I prefer quicker myself.

Clones were annoying. When I first unlocked Gannondorf I assumed he would have his own moveset. I was so disappointed when he was just Captain Falcoln in green skin. Clones are something I wouldn't want to see in Brawl, assuming I get it.

If anything, Captain Falcon will stay and Ganondorf will go, most likely being replaced by another Zelda villain. Captain Falcon is the only F-Zero character in SSB and I doubt he will leave.

From watching the TV show (I was 10 years old!), Metaknight is Kirby's shadowy accomplice. He 'trains' Kirby but disappears for long periods of time. He is not so much of an enemy, but more of an enigma, not good or bad.

Oh, and please don't pay attention to the crappy Kirby cartoon. MetaKnight is Kirby's enemy. Actually, he could be more of a rival since he is quite honorable, even giving Kirby a sword before vattling him. But he tried to conquer the world once though, so he could be called a real villain. I'm not sure if Dedede or MetaKnight is the main villain of the Kirby games though.

And to answer Diddy's question about making Pikachu and Kirby more powerful than they were in Melee, I don't think there is any need. They are both very good if played well, though Kirby maybe could have been a bit stronger.

Well Kirby in Melee is even considered one of the worst characters, just above Mewtwo, Pichu and Bowser. Pikachu is somewhat around middle tier. Still I think this is kinda unfair because they where the the two best characters in Smash64 (and so was Ness). Atleast they could improve their aerial moves.

The tiers which I talk about are really nothing more then online "scoreboards" of how well a character is doing at tournaments. And because tournaments are only for the "experts" this means that Fox would have alot more potential then lets say... Kirby. But this doesnt means that everyone plays Fox better then Kirby. As for you, you play better with Luigi and Ganondorf then you do with Fox. Still Fox does has more potential... Errr kinda crappy explenation but I hope you'll understand. <_<;

Actually, I look at the tier thing far more realisticaly than other people. I don't play very well with Ganondorf, but I can see he's one of the best fighters in the game. I play very well with Ness, but realisticaly I don't think he is top-tier.

I just tried Falco and Fox. Pretty impressive for a lack of experience using them. They are really great characters. Top Tier indeed.

Side note: I mastered Marth's Wavedash and SHFFL! Hope that doesn't change with Brawl's controls.

Wavedashing is making a small jump, then quickly dodging diagonally, if done right, it should look like your character is gliding, and it is faster than regular dashing and gives a lot of edge for quick combos. Luigi gets the best benefit, since his goes the farthest.

SHFFLing is "Short-Hop-Fast-Falling-LCancelling"

The way I understand it, it's when you do all of the said strategies moves to speed up combos. Short hopping is a small jump by tapping the jump buttons lightly. Fast falling is quickening a fall to get back on your feet by pressing down on the control stick. L cancelling is cancelling out a move by shielding to stop lagging (bringing the sword back to original place.

Those tiers aply only to one-on-one battles? Then it's not strange that Ganondorf isn't top-tier, since he's awful for one-on-one matches, but excelent for melees. And I think, realisticaly, that Link should be at least high-tier...

Those tiers aply only to one-on-one battles? Then it's not strange that Ganondorf isn't top-tier, since he's awful for one-on-one matches, but excelent for melees. And I think, realisticaly, that Link should be at least high-tier...

And no Link shouldnt be higher then that. He has too much lag after his moves, thats really the only thing that hurts him. Also note that even though Ganondorf is placed lower then lets say Samus they are around the same potential. The real diffrences lay between the tiers themself.

Hmm Sheik's main offence is the Fair (stands for Forward-Air), if you predict your bro is gonna use that move, use the Fsmash. This is Marth's main anti-air move and it's very usefull. Also a fthrow, followed by a Fsmash will work well.

My experiences with, and against each player is like this: My friends older brother uses Sheik, and when I was unstoppable in this game, he nearly beat me (one life left, 150% damage). I started out using Kirby, I kicked ass hard. Could be touched, K.O'd everybody. Took on three lvl.8's by myself. Then Roy came, I changed to him. Same with kirby, but faster K.O.'s until my friend tried using Marth, and like his brother did to me with Sheik, he did to me with Marth, but I still won. Barely. This was before I got rusty. I can be beaten on a regular basis now, and my friends shove it in my face. :( I now started using Fox, and I'm better than ever. For some people, strength is power. For some, speed is. I'm best with speed, so Fox was almost a perfect match. Roy was best for me in my prime because my skill in the game made up for Roy's lack of speed, and Roy's power was like a bulldozer for me. I got rusty, and I needed someone faster, so Fox fit my style. If that helped anyone, great. If not, oh well.

No there are no team tiers... However Peach and Jigglypuff are always good team partners. :(

I hate to say it but... Training agains CPU's doesnt prove anything really. And since you started playing as Fox, learn to WD and SHFFL.

I thought I was helping myself by beating up CPU's with Roy. It really doesn't help much, in fact it probably doesn't help at all. User-controlled players are obviously more unpredictable and make for a more challenging fight, even if they are less experienced.

It DOES help, since certain CPU's are quite strong and quick playing, even though real players are more of a challenge of course. A few weeks ago I turned Melee on to see if I've still got what it takes. I chose Falco and three teamed up lvl 9 CPU's to fight against. I won. 'nough said. :blink:

I only use fighting computers to test out little things, for training, my brother's a big help. For CPU's, I'd test out dash dancing, for instance. Computers don't have fingers, so they are sure to execute the moves well. I also analyze how a computer fights, so I can inlude some of that into my style. Their actually guniea pigs to me as opposed to punching bags.

I hate why some CPU's are so stupid. For instance, Ganondorf never ever uses his Wizard's Foot( down+B ). That's an awesome move! And when Kirby swallows an enemy he'll only use the new attack he gained, which is real dumb. The worse thing is, when he swallows Jigglypuff he'll only use the Rollout attack, but uncharged, so it won't do anyone ANY damage! Idiots!

That's what I've done a few times. For instance, when I used Roy, I would train against a lvl. 9 Marth, and I noticed the main reason he did so much damage to me was because he would use that mid-air spin move thing (while in the air, press the "z" button without a direction) from time to time. I believe that when someone gets REALLy good at smash bros., like I was a long time ago, that their skill makes up for a characters slow movement, but since that character also has stronger attacks (i.e. Gannondorf, Roy, etc.), then they can become a VERY strong player. As I got rusty though, I slowed down a bit, so I wasn't as effective with Roy, and I finally went with Fox. But you also would do good to play with a character who you've grown accustomed to. Like for you, it would be Marth. Since you are skilled, but you choose the faster character, you are now twice as fast, and in SSB, I've found that it's speed tha wins the game, not strength. But if you're playing against people who are worse than you, I'd go with strength. It's fun to send them flying across the screen with one blow. :blink:

Amen. In Adventure, All-Star and whatver the other one is, all the C-Stick does is control the camera. So if you have to rely on the C-Stick for smash moves, you're gonna be annoyed in Very Hard difficulty.

Cmon man the C-stick isnt cheating. Its just a way to preform Smashes without charging. And to be honest, it doesnt gives too much effort to use a smash on the 'normal' way. The only time I charge smashes is when I edgeguard. But then again, I play DK and I dont use smashes too much. :blink:

What I'm trying to mean is that with the C-stick it's just right there. You just smack it and it's there. I don't mean that the quick smash is cheap, it's just that I've trained myself to make a faster smash equivalent to it, but since I smash using Smash A, there's more of a chance I can go out of rhythm and make a mistake. With teh C-stick, it's perfect everytime. I jsut feel at an advantage, yet disadvantage if you know what I mean.

Directional Influence. Marth is constantly aerial attacking, so he needs the extra DI boost if out of sync. Marth's smashes and tilt attacks have to be accurate down to the point (literally), chain throwing and juggling needs to be fluid.

I also use the control stick to jump. I NEVER use the X and Y buttons. I'm not quite sure, but in the first Super Smash Bros. the only way to jump was by pressing the control stick up right? I played the game a long time ago, a bit before I got my GameCube and Melee, and I think I just got used to jumping like that in the first title. Everyone I know who has never played the first game uses the X and/or Y buttons to jump in Melee, including my brother.

I need to concentrate on controlling Yoshi's other ariel moves. I've gotten pretty good with the meteor smash. Plus I need to find a way to react faster coming out of the egg shield. Also all my friends team up against me and for some reason when I'm Yoshi its harder to fight off multiple enemies.

That is so very true. That's why I was so good when I first got SSBM ( I played eight hours straight every day. :D ) I've edgegaurded a few times before. A really good way to do that is to WD backwards of the ledge. You'll automatically grab the edge. One thing that's bad though, is that someone who's trying to grab the ledge can do an up B attack to knock you off and grab the ledge at the same time. And in the SSBM tutorial, it suggests that you "finish off" your enemy by jumping out and attacking him while he's falling. DON'T DO THAT. It allows them to jump again and do an up B to recover. Only do this if you're certain they will recover. But I'm sure most of you already new this.

And too all of you who call the C-Stick "cheap", here's a little something from MLG (Major League Gaming).

It's hard to do, but if you manage to hit him well he'll go down at the speed of light which'll make it really hard for him to recover.

Actually I have a real hard time air juggling if I dont use the C-stick. It makes SHFFLing much less stressy.

And yeah those are called Meteor Smashes. Actually alot more characters have it. DK's Fair is a meteor, Marth's Dair, Ganondorfs Dair and Mewtwo's Dair are meteors to.

Hmmm no its not. A meteor is a move from the air that is extremly good for edgeguarding. If your hit by a meteor smash, you'll get sended down to the ground at very high speed, much like a meteor. :D Link's Dair spikes the foe, aka it sends them flying into the sky. However sometimes if hit right, Young Link's Dair can be a meteor. But I suck at playing Y.Link so I cant go in details there. :P

I alwas thought it was a smash attack that sent somone off screen and K.O.'d them. I think I've only done a few of those before, if any. -_- One way you can counter, is mid-air dodgeing it. But that leaves you open for attack if you hit the ground, or if you're still on the stage, and if you aren't on the stage, you're screwed. It's a thought though.

I managed a few times to KO an enemy with Falco with his down A areial attack. His drill kick thingy. It's such a great feeling when the enemy plunges at the speed of light into the nothingness beneath us.

Falco is surprisingly quick in the execution of his jump. Using his aerial attacks is a huge advantage over an opponent, because you don't realize how fast he's coming at you.

I prefer Fox myself, but I'm not sure why. I still use roy from time to time though, and in the first week I played the game, and then for a month after that, I made so many K.O.'s, falls, and whatnot, that it's taken me more than a year to even get close to that when I switched to Roy. But I also didn't play everyday for 8 hours straight. More like twice a week for a couple hours. And there hasn't been any character with more play time on my game than Kirby either.

The character with the highest play time in my game is Ganondorf, because of my brother. When we unlocked him he became crazy about the green guy and he wouldn't choose any other fighter for a LONG LONG time. Which is stupid, 'cause it's boring.
The character with the most KO's is... yes, Ganondorf. Same reason as above, combined with his mad destructive KOing power. He has about 2000 KO's more than the second best ranking character, Link.

I don't play much anymore, but when I first started, I ALWAYS used kirby. My friends got so mad at me beating them, and being able to fly back to the stage, that they said I was cheating whenever I used him. ;) Then I started using Roy afterwards, and he now has 1400 after a year of playing, while kirby got that high after a few months.

Personally, if I made a Tier list for SSBM, kirb would be in the top section, along with Marth, Mheik, Roy, and Samus. My friends use the other three (not Roy or Kirby), and they're pretty good with them. Good enough to give me a good fight, and that's sayong something. They hardly ever play the game.

Yeah Kirby is a good teamplayer with a powerhouse character as Ganon or DK. Anyways my highest KO's are with DK, and he has around 5300 with Mewtwo being second with around 4800 and thirth comes Pikachu with around 1500. XD

You cant beat the game with all the characters, event matches have set characters, and if its particularly hard, then i'll go train with the character in a similar scenario. ( I remember the one with dark link- I was link versus a level 9 link with a black tunic. Really helped.)

Have to admit, that's a good job there. Personally, I think Vaati would make a good addition to the game. He, and Krystal for Star Fox, but that's another story.

But star fox is very limited. It's mainly in ships, and adding Krystal is good and all, but they'd have to make up moves for her. The staff from Star fox adventures isnt a bad idea but they should think of adding more ' new' characters, like snake, than adding more to a set.

I think Vaati would be a good addition to Brawl. I remeber him as being very difficult to beat. I wouldn't mind being able to transform into one of the forms he takes as the final boss. That would be pretty cool in the game.

Dont forget that Fox's moves are all made up. Only his Blaster comes from Star Fox.
Krystal's moveset would be easy to make, im not wanting to make one now cuz Im tired but the B moves can all be taken from SFA. The neutral B being a sorta fireball, >B being the Ice blast. As a down B I can see the Earthquake and as a Up B the Staff Booster which is very similair to Fox's up B. Her A moves are most like the swordsmen, moves with the staff. Her air moves could be similair to Fox's and Falco's.

And that Vaati pick is very nicely done. It was hard to believe it was fake, but after a close look you can see it is. Still I'd like to see Vaati in Brawl. It would be strange though since Vaati has no connection to Twilight Princess Link at all... =/

Who knows, Vaati may be in Twilight Princess. Don't forget Nintendo said they're planning "more than you can ever, ever, ever expect". I would really like both Ganondorf and Vaati in Twilight Princess, as I would for Brawl.

As for another StarFox character, I would rather have Wolf than Krystal. Having more villains is always cool, and he's just a better character.

Almost every new character in melee was a clone of a previous character. Falco- slower more powerful version of fox, same with C. Falcon and Gannondorf. Tis why i'm more looking forward to snake and pit, who have new and original moves.

New fighters with original moves in Melee were: Zelda and Sheik, Peach, Bowser, Ice Climbers, Marth, Mr. Game & Watch and Mewtwo. That's quite a lot actually, but I agree that there were way too many clones! The best thing that could happen to Brawl is if it had no clones. Unfortunately, that seems a bit impossible since there will be around 40 fighters...

There where many clones yeah but they where last minute additions because they had no more time left for other characters. They where gonna give Ganon his sword, he still had it in the beta version but he didn't used it. In the last version they just cutted the sword. So... Expect atleast Ganon to have his own moves in Brawl. :D

Gannondorf, Diddy. Thats a point, Gannondorf should be able to change into gannon if hes like taken over 200% damage or summin.

And then what? Does someone will let you live that long to get 200%? And even if Ganondorf should change into Ganon... He'd be finished soon because Ganon is much bigger and slower then Ganondorf.

Ganondorf changing into Ganon = no good.

What I'd ratehr have for Ganondorf's super attack is some sorta illusion attack. In the Wind Waker when you fought Phantom Ganon you could see it. Ganondorf creates 4 clones of himself, surrounds one enemy and slashes into him/her with his big ass sword.

Ahh, there are so many possibilties for Super Smash attacks... Though I can't think of any good ones at the moment.
Oh, and Caael, you can call Ganondorf Ganon. I remember some people in Wind Waker calling him Ganon, and don't forget about the Ganon's Castle in OoT. It's a sort of nickname.

No, not that I know of. I think gannon is the eviler form of Gannondorf or something. But I'm pretty sure they're not the same exact person.

Ganon was the main villain of the Zelda series until Ocarina of Time. In that game they sort of showed that Ganondorf is Ganon towards the end of the game. I'm not going to go into all of the details SoT, since you may want to play the game one day and I don't want to ruin it for you.

Nothing about Brawl at the conference. :D I didn't really expect them to show off any new characters, but I thought they would at least have a trailer showing a few new arenas and/or items.

Which team character would you guys most like to see in Brawl? Would you want the Ice Climbers again, or something different? It seems it'll be Diddy and Dixie in the end, which is ok, but I would rather have Diddy alone. The best team, if you ask me, is Olimar and Louie from Pikmin. That would be awesome!

But however Olimar could use Pikmins in his moves....

Deoxys would be cool yeah, but he's just a Mewtwo with no backstory or importance in the Pokemon series at all. Lucario would be better imo.

That would be quite good to have olimar and louie. Each B move could be a different pikmin. I really REALLY would like the ice climbers to go, but its not gonna happen, so. I'd rather like Waluigi too, they need more bad guy people.

Hey, Deoxys has got a movie to himself, he's one of the most powerful Pokes(and one of the coolest, if I do say so myself) and he could have an awesome moveset! Me and my brother came up with what Deoxys could be based around.
He would have one very powerful attcking B move, one defencive B move, one super fast move and one B attack that's sort of all-rounded. He would start the battle in his normal, well-rounded mode, one of his four different modes from the Pokemon games. When he uses the super strong B attack he would transform into his attacking mode. That would mean that his A attacks would become a lot more powerful, but his speed and defence would fall. He would stay like this until you use a different B technique. If you used his defencive B move he would transform, of course, into his defence mode. His resiliance to A attacks would rise greatly, but his A attack power and overall speed would decrease. Once again, he would remain like this until you used another B attack. You get the picture concerning his speed move.
Anyway, I hope you understood that.

Oh, and Waluigi... No. Just... No.

I remember a while ago, someone suggested to Sakurai of a Diddy Kong/Dixie Kong combination, like the Ice Climbers, and he loved the idea.

Gawd help me if they put that idea in the game, I dont want another ice climbers. They could make it a zelda, like in DKC, where you can change into the other character. That would be more effective, as the iceclimbers didnt work too well in my opinion.

I would also like to see Diddy by himself in the game, and the Ice Climbers would be the best tandem in Nintendo history. However Olimar and Louie would make a good team as well. I'm torn, but in the end, it won't matter because I never use 'team' characters anyway.

Yeah, if they want to make clones, just put em' in teams. There's no point in having just a slower but stronger vice versa version of a character. Maybe they should have it so they just make every chara individual.

Or just a combination of the two. When Diddy is in front his moves have more prority then Dixie's. And they would never be a clone of DK. I hope you all do understand that. :blink: *loads shotgun*

You know, heres a funny idea. Say that extra 3rd party character was a team character, say Sonic and Tails? Would be interesting. Up+B Could let Tails hold on to Sonic and fly him up as his tails act like blades. Just an idea to throw at you guys.

That could actually work pretty well.

As for Deoxys, he should only come out of a Poke'ball. A lot of people don't like Blaziken that much, but face it, he'd make a great fighter. His body is shaped like a human, and that shape is the best in fighting games because it is the most versatile. Besides that, he's a fighting/fire type, and his blaze kick would look pretty cool.

But adding more pokemon wouldnt neccisarily be a good thing. I dont think they should go any further than Mewtwo. Besides, Blaziken isnt such a poke-sterotype such as Pika and Jiggly.

Bah Pokemon haters... I to don't like the series as I used to, yet I think atleast one more Pokemon should be added to Brawl. Pichu should be cut though. =/ And Mewtwo needs to be totally upgraded.

That's funny, I don't remember there being a 'well-rounded' mode. Let's see...there's attack mode, defence mode, speed mode...oh.
