Protagonist

Isaac

Isaac is a Venus Adept from the village of Vale and the main character of Golden Sun. His father was killed in the Great Storm, three years before the events of the game. At the beginning of the game, he is told by the Wise One that he must prevent the four Elemental Lighthouses from being lit.

Garet

Garet is a Mars Adept and a childhood friend of Isaac. In the game, he serves somewhat as the "strong but stupid" sidekick. He was with Isaac when the Wise One gave him his mission, and decided to travel with him to stop the lighting of the lighthouses.

Ivan

Ivan is a Jupiter Adept who was born in Contigo but was adopted by Lord Hammet of Kalay and has lived their for most of his life. In Golden Sun, Isaac and Garet meet Ivan in Vault, where they help him recover the Shaman's rod and he reads their minds and finds out about their quest. At first he wants to rescue Lord Hammet from Lunpa, but when he is unable to enter, he decides to aid Isaac and Garet on their quest instead.

Mia

Mia was the healer in the Imil Sanctum and met Isaac and Garet in the Mercury Lighthouse, which she was worried was about to be lit. The four failed to stop the lighting of the lighthouse, so Mia decides to travel with Isaac to stop the other three lighthouses from being lit.

Imil Mercury

Alex is a mysterious Mercury Adept from Imil who travelled with Saturos, Menardi, and Felix on their quest to light the lighthouses. His motives for joining the quest are unknown. At the beginning of the first game, he splits up with Felix and goes on his own, but the two meet again in Champa, where he introduces them to Karst and Agatio, and again in Jupiter Lighthouse.

Saturos

Prox Mars

Saturos was a Mars Adept from Prox and one of the only two survivors (along with Menardi) of the expedition into Sol Sanctum that caused the Great Storm. The two of them were the primary villains for the first game and were defeated on Venus Lighthouse at the end of the game.

Felix

Felix is Jenna's older brother who was thought to have been killed in the Great Storm. Later it is revealed that he was saved by Saturos and Mernardi and has been traveling with them ever since. It is unknown exactly why he stays with them, except for the fact that they saved his life. He follows them as almost an apprentice, learning from them and their ideas.

Lord Hammet is a rich merchant who practically founded Kalay. He took in Ivan as a son, but when the Sham an's rod was stolen, he left him and rushed north towards Lunpa. He was taken for ransom there, and left his wife to run Kalay.

Kyle

Kyle is Isaac's father, thought to have been killed in the Great Storm.

Dora

Vale None

Dora is Isaac's mother. The loss of her husband, Kyle, hit her hard, and when Isaac leaves on his quest, she has a hard time coping.

Babi

Tolbi None

Babi is the ruler of Tolbi. He is over one hundred years old because he stole a life prolonging draught from Lemuria. He is running out, however, and tasks you with getting him some more. He reveals that one of his purposes for building the lighthouse was to see if he could penetrate the ocean around Lemuria.

Master Hama is a Jupiter adept who dwells next to the Lamakin Desert. She seems to know quite a bit about Ivan, and teaches him Reveal.

Dodonpa

The ruler of Lunpa, he is a wicked thief who has no morals whatsoever. His grandfather, Lunpa, and his father, Donpa, were both noble and well loved. He has shut off the town from all outsiders, and is holding Lord Hammet for ransom with no intention of letting him go.

Nyumpa is the master of Fuchin Temple. He will notice you if you use mind read on him, and he will give you access to Fuchin Falls Cave.

Laurel

Laurel is a tree spirit that resides next to Tret. She tries to calm him during his rage against the villagers.

Kay is Garet's sister. She gets mad at him a lot.

Lady McCoy is the irritating wife of Lord McCoy. She demands a new palace, which drives Lord McCoy to send men to chop down the sacred tree.

Ouranos

Ouranos is a traveling warrior who hopes to compete in the Colosso event in Tolbi. He and his brother, Sean, help defend the ship against sea monsters.

Donpa

Donpa is the son of Lunpa, the noble thief who founded his hometown. His own son, however, is wicked and Donpa cannot control him.

Great Healer

The Great Healer is the main priest in Vale. He is the one who sent Isaac on his quest and has had conversations with the Wise One.

Kaja is the head of the oarsmen and the first mate on the Tolbi bound ship. He asks you to defend the ship against monsters.

Faran is the chief of Lalivero. He adopted Sheba when she fell out of the sky, and when Babi took her to make the people of Lalivero build the Lighthouse, he was very angry.
