The reason I made the opacity high for the rain is because the point was to give the feeling it was raining very heavy. The grid was meant to be that opaque since any lower and believe me you could barely see it at all.

Well, besides that, I think the rain effect is too strong and choppy. While it's decently smooth, it's still noticeable. But of course, that shoots up file size, and, well, ya. But try lowering opacity at least on the rain and see if you can't smooth it up.

Linear: Rough crop, bland background, and the text should be more elegant. Try smoothing the edges of the crop by smudging them a bit (or blurring, I prefer to smudge) and make a more dynamic background. Don't forget to change the text to a more elegant look (the courier/ocr-a font doesn't fit well).
