Sig: I always prefer centered sigs, but that's not that big of a problem. Yours matches your avie (perhaps too much?), AND you advertised in it. Kind of cheating, but still good. 9.5/10

Set: I like sets that match, but I also like sets that have unique avies and sigs. They should match in theme, and perhaps not in every way. That's just my opinion though, and the quality of your avie and sig is incredible. 9.5/10

^ The red-white-and-blue doesn't fit it at all. It's nothing special. Just border effects. I can do that on MS Paint. The sig is grainy and I personally think that 100 x 50 avatars don't work too well. Though they go together, them being from the same game, they aren't the best. 5.5/10

It's good for a first try, but it could be better. You should use a slightly different and larger text, and the avatar could be a bit more different than a shrunken part of the sig. It's clear though, and it has good texture. Pretty good for a first. 6/10

FireWorks is a no no for set making in my opinion. >.> It's more suited for web site making, to position and add effects and stuff on the navigation and such.

I just looked up Macromedia FreeHand, it seemed like it's more suited for Web Page making as well, but it has some nice feature for illustrating. So I guess it'll work nicely as a graphic designing tool for ADs, Banners, and sets. (A Tablet would go nicely with this program, FreeHand right? =p)

Most borders are black. If your set is black aleady, you might want to space it out with a white border in between.

Easiest way to do it is to draw with the Line tool around the outermost edges of the object in MS Paint. Hold down shift while you do so to keep the like straight.

Most borders are black. If your set is black aleady, you might want to space it out with a white border in between.

Easiest way to do it is to draw with the Line tool around the outermost edges of the object in MS Paint. Hold down shift while you do so to keep the like straight.

Yeah, that's what I usually do with mine, but I spend a bit of extra time putting a fade from white to color in the white band of it. But it only seems to look good if your sig/avie has color.

Now that I'm back home, I should probably start working on something new in my little spare time. And Somia, yeah, I agree, the emblem is a bit rough, but it was the best thing I could find. I tried to smooth it out a bit, but that's really hard whe you're trying to keep it from looking fake. ;)

Peirs, try to at least crop it and add a border, and if your browser doesn't support PNG's, at least try windows bitmap, 32 bit. As for size, it usually looks best if the height is less than half of the width. These things would help.

I spend most of my time on a peice zoomed in triming and detailing. It takes a while, but it makes it look better when it blends together.

I would get photoshop, but photo studio 5 works very similarly, and I really don't want to spend money on something like that. It would be nice to have, but unless it was 20 bucks, or I got it as a gift, I'm not so sure I'd be inclined to get it.

Try a Black and white border. It works best for darker sigs. Use the line tool to make a four pixle thick whit line on the outer edge, then a two pixle wide black line on the outer edge. It should look like this:
