Well I'm assuming it will stop by end of 2008 so that's why I said 1999-2008.

No, the Gamecube was starting to decline heavily in sales, mostly because of it's poor 3rd party support, but the X-Box might've lived another half year or so.
What's really funny though, is that the PS2 was the least powerful system of it's generation, yet it sold more than the other two combined. And now the Wii is the weakest, yet it's got the best sales (I think. At the very lest, it's selling more per month than the other two. The 360 was released quite a while before either the PS3 or Wii).

Judgeing by that, a more powerful system is NOT the way to go. All you want is JUST enouhg horsepower to get the job done. Any more is wasted cash.

Not really. I think the 360 was in the works for longer than the other two. But yeah, it surprised me too when I found out. The GC came in second in terms of performance. And how good the graphics in a game are, are dependant on how good the artists are.
