I play quite well with swift characters, mainly Marth and Falco, both of whom also have a form of a special counter technique. Highly useful.

No, I haven't unlocked everything. And something very bad happened: all the data in my memory card for SSBM got erased completely. Now, I had to start all over. I have no idea how it happened, but my data was erased...

Bah, I have all the characters, and I only have three (I think) more stages to unlock. (Past Stages: Dream Land, Past Stages: Kongo Jungle, and Special Stages: Final Destination) I doubt I'll ever get them unlocked though, because I still suck at this game. :)

I have all the stages, characters etc. unlocked with the exception of some trophies. I currently have 283.

That having been asked, I am not sure if I have all the bonuses... how exactly do you throw the hammer?

No, not the hammer head. I was referring to the entire hammer as a whole, when the character beings to swing it very quickly. You are able to throw it then, but it is very difficult to.

Well he would be easy if he got like 300HP (the normal way to fight him) but imagine that he would be in a normal Melee (with the %s) you wouldnt be able to kill him cuz you cant blow him of the screen. ;)

I've gone to 500+ damage in a real battle against my friend before. Funny how simple taps of the a button can send you flying of the stage. It was quite funny because he was fox and kept using his gun to do damage to me. To bad you don't stagger with Fox's gun but you can tap faster.

Whenever I take on my most difficult challenges with the CPU, I make sure that my opposition are all different characters, even with my own character. It makes it more challenging and allows for more varied and unique strategy.

That was sooo freaking anooying I can tell ya! Although I did won I had a hard time. When Mewtwo grabs you, your doomed. So I was just shooting missles and my friend kept on charging the Charge Shot. Then he died.... Bye bye perfect strategy... XD

To get Giga Bowser you would need an Action Replay for Gamecube. Using it you can also use Master Hand, Crazy Hand and I think the Wireframes.

Yes, C.F. is a rip-off of Gannon. Not the otherway arounf. Cuz Gannon can pwn C.F. anyday of the week. Except maybe Tuesday.

What would you think about customizing your own character like Sonic Battle. It looks like what ever you want, yet you can change the attacks to whatever of the characters you have. Say for a B attack (asuming it will be :rolleyes: you would have Link's arrow, Left/Right B=Samus's missle etc. etc. Same with A(?) attacks. And smash, and whatever.

Anwho, best tactic with Young Link ever. I'm playin as Young Link against a Lv. 9 Gannondorf. I decided to use a Wind Waker tactic. Get him to high damage, wait till he stars to attack, put up shield, roll to the other side of him, jump and use the down in the air move. Makes him go flying. Best...attack...ever.

I think instead of G&W they should have put in wario, but they already have like lets see...mario, luigi, peach, bowser, dr. mario...kk...5 mario themed guys. Perhaps ditch dr. mario since hes worthless. As for customizing your own characters. I feel you should be able to just like, do what you do in rpg's and stuff. Buy different cloths for them and weapons and customize your attacks power etc. But, i think that it should be its own category of gameplay. Like have Melee, Custom Melee kind of thing.

And Wario would be a good character, same strenght as Captain Falcon or somewhat stronger and slow.

New weapons for Link, Fox and Samus seems cool to. But isnt that a little unfair? I mean, DK, Mewtwo, Pichu and alot more chars dont have any weapons. (Well okay Donkey Kong has a Coconut Gun but I dont think it will suit in SSB)

And there are alot of other characters who can be added in this game.
They should get rid of the clones like Dr. Mario, but the ones like Luigi and Pichu are good because they are difrent from Mario and Pikachu some more. Make Mewtwo stronger, I mean he has the lowest offence in SSBM which is suposed to be godly and gove Ganondorf his own moveset and not that lame Captain Falcon moveset...

Yeah re-design Fox is a good idea. In Star Fox Assault he looks better than in SSBM. And make Fox some stronger, heavier and slower. He isn't so very fast in Star Fox Adventures and in Star Fox Assault... :smile:

Oh yeah that's true ofcoarse... And I was thinking about these weapons for characters without weapons:

Bowser: Some gloves with sharp steel claws.
Donkey Kong: A boxing glove :P
Captain Falcon: Uhm... just a glove or something...
Pikachu and Pichu: Upgraded Electric attacks.
Jigglypuff: Bracelets.
Mewtwo: Some headband which raises the power of mind.

Good idea Lifeform.
If they add that weapon mode give Samus new missles, beams and suits.
The beginning Samus is then fairly weak but later she will become stronger.

Every game has atleast 2 charecters in SSBM so I think they should add 1 more charecter from Donkey Kong and Metroid, and they should add in Dark Link from Ocarina of Time. That was a cool mini-boss.

You know how they change colours and stuff? How about other than that, you can change the total appearance. Like can have his boots/gloves/weapon switched, samus can switch suits (not just colour), Young link can put on masks, Marth and Roy can switch swords, change appearance to fit class changes, etc. It makes sense to use the better processor of Revolution to its fullest potential.

That sounds like Soul Calibur if you ask me...switching swords, costumes and transformations. The Masks thing and the swords thing wouldn't work, because of sword length and attack styles, but I could see different characters that did something like that in particular, say, a character who's B down attack switched between swords, and a character who's four directional B attacks transformed him into the four transformations of Link in Majora's Mask(Deku, Goron, Zora, Diety).

I kick butt with Luigi. I remain practically undefeated (my sister gets me with Roy once in a while). I can also use Marth and Fox, but I'm a little rusty.

In other words, the way people who won't practice with Link use him. Link rules. He can kill anything. Dare I say I'm actually gettin better with him then Samus. (I just passes out from lack of breath so I might regret this post in the morning.)

Slow? Maybe against Roy and Marth, but not against Ganondorf or Bowser with the beam sword. It also takes experience with Link to be quick enough to predict when your moves will strike and how you will move. And yes, I consider Marth and Roy cheaply higher advantage characters, but that may just be since I haven't gone deep enugh into the game yet.

Anywho, if you didn't read my strategy with Young Link/ Link, I ain't postin it again. Its should be on the previous page. If you practice it, it works against anything. (YES. I tested it on Crazy Hand, Master Hand AND Giga Bowser.)

I have said this before people but I'll say it again.
Fox is the best character in the game along with sheik because they have the best attacks the can flow together.

Marth and Roy are great as well but I find Marth faster and more agile then Roy. Though Roy is more powerful and his counter move is more effective then Marth's counter attack.

Mario is the best player to counter another players attack in the game and is up there with Fox and Shiek on the list of my favorite characters. His moves are quite powerful as well.

The cheapest character is C. Falcon for he is much to fast for his size and his attacks are way to powerful. Though he is a bit heavy and his jumps are quite small. Still, that can become an advantage because it is hard to hit him off the screen going upward because he is so heavy.

The worst PLAYERS in the game in my opinion is Jigglypuff and Mr. game and watch. Roy up and B move can instantly kill Jigglypuff no matter how much damage she has as long as you hit her in the right position. Mr. GW is weak and his powerful attacks all depend on luck of the number that you get. His only powerful attack is his over and A smash attack.

Thats my SSMB lesson for you all.

I definitely like how Marth is faster than Roy. It gives me an edge against my sister. Luigi is my favourite though because he has strong midair attacks. I also like his green missile because when he launches it kills and his fire punch (up+B ) destroys. He is also quick, he jumps high, and his throw is quite strong. I think very highly of him.

Luigi is a very nice character to play with, but one thing about him that occasionally sets me back is when he slides after he stops moving. Also, Marth is more versatile than Roy. Even though Roy's more powerful, Marth is faster and attacks more quickly, which makes a lot of difference. He's not that bad in terms of power either.

This man understands the advantages of Marth. There is no need to get so close to your opponent since the tip of Marth's blade does the most damage. That means you can have some space from you and your opponent and still deal some damage.

i looked at my SSBM data the other data, and i've been playing 202 hours.

Link is favourite, he's very powerful, equipped for short range and long combat, great at beating up one person and crowds, his jumps is quite good and his speed is reasonable.

My least favourite is Game and Watch, however you look at him one word describea him and here's a clue it rhymes with wit and means poo.

Jigglypuff is lethal with rest which i've mastered and Ganondorf is agood old fashion powerhouse.

Jump (X or Y), and before your character has visibly left the ground, perform an air dodge diagonally down (R or L + Analog Stick, either diagonally right or diagonally left.

Try it out. Luigi and Marth both have the most noticeable Wavedashes; you'll recognize the character "sliding" and smoke will appear.

It is admittedly very difficult, and I have yet to master it. But if any of you manage it, see how effective it is in battle.

Interesting, I've never heard of such a technique. I have yet to master the art of catching objects thrown at me, but I think I'll try this wavedashing for awhile.

The wavedashing's useful for multiple attacks that chase the opponent off. Marth and Roy's B + Left/Right attack could easily be avoided with wavedashing, for example. My brother used it against me, but I still won.

Lol, yeah, I'm not the best with Mewtwo, but he's cool to use. I'm the best with Yoshi. The only way I've been beaten when I'm Yoshi is if I accidently commit suicide like five times in a match. Other than that I almost have a perfect record.

First charge up your Shadow Ball and wait till your enemy comes. When he comes side dogde, grab him, throw him down do some down kicks then let him attack you and throw away the Shadow Ball. Mewtwo is like the most defencely character in SSBM btw.

Woohoo, my first post in about a month. . .

Since I joined smashboards and played at MLG Philly, I've been practicing really hard. I can play comfortably with Roy (my main), Marth, Ganon, C. Falcon, Ice Climbers, and Sheik. My Falco isn't to bad, but I'm not to good at pillaring or short hopping my laser too well (I always do it to high).

It helps that I have a few friends who are still good ;P.

I don't really use any characters more than another ( with the exception of Link ). The worst thing is playing a game with a character then going on Super Smash Bros ( using the same character ) and getting the two sets of controls mixed up!

Yeah it was the first game i got for the Gamecube...I'm best with Link, Shiek, Ganondorf, Captain Falcon, Kirby, Roy, Marth, Fox, Falco, and sometimes the big guys(DK and Bowser) My fav stages are Hyrule Temple and Termina Bay by far...me and my friend always go to Termina Bay and throw each other to the top of that middle part(forgot what to call it) and then we would bounce off it and fall to our doom...

Final Destination and Battlefield are great for simple battles that showcase the player's skills. Other than that, yeah it's pretty basic. I think, now we know that the GCN cycle is coming to an end, that SSBM will go down as the best multiplayer game for this system.

Yup SSBM was the best multiplayer game for the Game Cube!
Also it's have been my favorite game since it has been released. It was a good idea of Nintendo to release the new SSB at the same day as they release thier Revolution.

Releasing it at the same time as the Revolution is a great marketing plan, but an even better one would be making it a pack-in. Then it would really sell and people would recognize the improvements right away and not have to buy a game at another time.

Exactly. I play there all the time. There is nothing to hide behind, so many people usually always go: "Nah. I don't like it." They only say that, cause they know they can only win by hiding by obstacles, otherwise, they know their ass is gonna get kicked.

Same with Time and Stock. Time is for the weak. You can keep running away in Time matches and win. In stock, your gonna have to do something. In Stock, your gonna have to face me one way or another.

Time is indeed for cowards. When I played the original SSB with my friend I was DK he Fox. He grabed a Pokéball (items apear at battles until you unlock Item Switch) so he killed me and ran...

Stock seperates the men from the boys. It's too easy to get a cheap win in time. I like to play coin too, though. The craziness of collecting the coins makes it fun.

For basic style development, and extra "blade sharpening" I do Bonus. If I don't see KO Artist, Offensive Artist, and Brawler, I know I didn't do soemthing right.

Items: Anything Mario releated

He just runs and throws Bomb-Ombs and such. I just try to fight them while they just keep on attacking thier team mate. Also it's fun when Peach attacks when she's large with the Hammer. My friend was just recklessy running around the stage like that with only attacking me. XD

When you're playing it alone, it's really easy because the CPU is so dumb with items. It's very fun with other human characters, try it next time a friend comes over.

When you jump, when your feet touch the ground (NOT when you land), press L and the control stick towards the ground. When done correctly, you'll slide across the ground (try it with Luigi to see it).

DK's Up B is somewhat diffrent since you are supossed to make many hits with that. Link's up B gives around 22% with only 1 hit and DK's Up B can move around the screen.

Yeah but his full charged double > smash is much stronger I think. It's not really a finishing move but it inflicts alot of damage and its a good move as you begin the fight.

Still that move takes a lot more time to bring out than the down a move. Not many a moves are as powerful as that one. The only other A move I like to use is Marth/Roy's double A slash in the air. That one is sweet.

Yeah but that move takes alot of timing. I like Marth's ones better since it has more range. And another strong A move is Mewtwo's Side Air attack. I love that move!

If anyone wants a reasonably fun challenge, play a Samus vs Samus (lvl9) time game on Jungle Japes (or whatever it's called, the SSBM DK level at sunset with cranky in his little hut). It quickly turns into a meteor smash fest, trying to meteor each other down between the platforms :lol:.

I find it funny, everyone asks me what my strategy is, and the more I think about, I don't have a definate technique, I kinda combine multiple techniques. Defense, Offensive, and Item chucking. It annoys everyone I play against.

I mostly use Yoshi, so I blend techniques to form an ultimate technique which has never failed me. Only time I lose is when I've killed my self too much cause I was just screwing around.

Marth is not a defensive character. Atleast, not how I use him. I use Marth in the 100% offence. Mewtwo is the character if you wanna play defensely. That's why most people don't know how to play him.
