Ya... maybe because Ness isn't a that great character. He has many weaknesses and hes kinda slow. His best move would be PSI Fire or PSI Flash. I am kinda disapointed in Nintendo making him a bit lagging. They could atleast give him his own PSI... :P

Ewwww Bowser is lame! DK is a better choise cause he's fast and strong, has some good B attack and he's a heavy weight. I think he's better than C.Falcon in stats.

The only bonus for DK is his size. He is so big it's hard to blast him off the stage but that can also work against you. He can get caught in many combos which can get annoying.

No Bowser is not! He is the lamest char for doing that job! He will get combo'ed by every one! No my friend, use Bowser only in a 1 agains 1 match versus Ness. Oh yeah and fight in a level like Final Destination. You will even beated by everyone on a level like Rainbow Road.

He's pretty good at 4 player matches but he's way too huge to stand a chance, unless you dodge a lot, but where's that going to get you?

My choice should be Pikachu. He's fast and has some powerfull combos. You must dodge as much as you can but his smashes hit everybody who stands in your way.

i think in 4 ways anything can happen - depends how good your tactics are. Unless you're hated by the other 3 players and they all go for you...

In 4 ways, i usually chase the most able opponent around the arena and leave the other two for each other. Thus you get some pretty cool scenarios in that the two good players will have few lives as they've been taking each other out - allows the others a chance to win.

Worst Taunt - Mario: the worlds biggest bobomb target. He's so so easy when he taunts that i tend to go out of my way to attack him.

Jigglypuff is a good character I think. She has many good and variation of moves. Her Rollout is kinda tricky and you need practice with it but it's a good move! I like it better than Yoshi's Egg Roll...

On the Great Fox stage, when your near the engine under the big fin of the plane have you ever notice that there is a hole under it. Well, I found out that if you can hit someone into the hole with enough force they will fall out under the plane and die for sure.

Do you guys think its possible to get good with any character, or do you think that some people are only capable with some characters. Links in with the fighting style of various people. Do you adapt it to fit the character or do you find a character to suit you?

Marth is pretty good, but his attacks cause just a little too less damage, while roy, with a slight decrease in speed, has much more powerful attacks. And i just can't use fox. (stupid edges moving over so the Fox Phantom thing kills me)

Link can't go into melee that fast. He's one of the slower characters. And Fox's ranged attack doesn't slow people down at all it just does damage. I guess thats just one of the ways they balance the whole thing out. I can see where you're coming from though but wouldnt Pikachu or Pichu be a better exampl as they are both fast and have a ranged attack which can stop people.

I don't mean fast in attack way. I think dodging (rolling and side-step) is very fast. For example, Link is throwing his boomerang at DK and DK runs to attack Link. Suddenly Link is behind him, totally pwning DK. I am fast with Link. That is maybe it.

That's true - don't you also find that its only ever the ice climbers that bother to charge up their smash moves. I don't think any cpu opponent in the game apart from them actually does anything like that.

I hate the Ice climbers. Reason why? My sister always uses them. There smash move are powerful and if you dodge one of their attacks the other manages to hit you. There pests made just for the game.

You would be correct. The attack is very effective against the sandbag. Could you tell me how you were able to get that distance using Ganondorf? The guy seems to strong to contain the sandbag on the platform.

You're aware that GL is working in metres and ED is working in feet right? You probably have about the same scores in reality but they changed the measurements. If you did know this then my apologies^^;

Ahh, of course. My procedure for Ganondorf is from memory, so sorry for any inaccurate details.

GANONDORF: Grab the bat. Jump and use the "Down + B" maneuver (a downward/diagonal kick). Follow through with two "Up + A" smashes (no more than twice, as you will either run out of time or strike the Sandbag far too hard). Then, use a "Right + A" smash with the bat.

That's it. It sounds simple, but I should note that the key lays with the two "Up + A" smash moves. You MUST TIME THEM CORRECTLY! You cannot use both to their full strength, as you will run out of time that way. So it simply becomes trial and error... hitting the Sandbag with different levels of strength and such.

I'll give a better procedure soon. Hope this helps.

Use the B attack instead. It hit farther if the Sandbag is damaged enough. And GL hits about 3 times longer than ED if it would be correct.

Use Roy's B move at full power once you do enough damge to Sandbag. With Ganondorf and CF, I hit Sandbag in the air once I hit it enough, and use their B move while it's still in the air.

I got 400 meter with Mewtwo. All I did was Smash Up Smash Charge Smash Up Smash Up Charge Smash Up Smash Up, jump, meteor attack, Confusion and then while Sandbag is in the air quickly hit him with the bat!

This is my stategy with Roy: use Up+A, starting in the middle, two or three times, then use his fully charged B move. I got over 1,300 m. with that.

That is the simplest method to use Roy in the Home Run Derby. I managed to achieve 1500+ meters... I do believe I struck the Sandbag once or twice with Roy's dancing blade technique ("Side + B"), then following through with the charged up Smash attacks.

Note that not all of them can be charged up fully, due to the time constraint. I believe the last one should be, then following through with a fully charged Flare Blade.

I always found that the (up and A) method with Roy worked for me. You get more distance on the sand bag if you hit it while it's in the air, and i think i managed about three hits before thwacking it into the horizon. Not sure how far it got but i was pleased ^^;

I never used any other characters besides Yoshi and Pichu. I didn't feel the need to try and beat my old record once I got hold of the Yoshi stage. Though I do tend to play against the wire frames in Cruel Melee when I am bored.

I dont think i ever tried with Falcon. I got that score with Marth. I once remember getting 8 with JigglyPuff and was laughing for ages due to the sheer shamefullness of the wire frames in having such difficulty with a sleepy pink balloon.

It'd be much better if they actually did damage to each other. Once you've been knocked off the arena its quite a challenge to get back as they mass at the side and put up a wall of attacks in order to prevent you getting back. If those attacks caused them to hit each other, it would be easier...but then that would defeat the point^^

That match is very floaty though - you get much more height there than you do anywhere else, and it can be harder to plan attacks, especially if most of your manouvres involve being airborn (like mine x.x;:D

Ahh, forgive me, but I have a request of everyone. I recall much earlier in this topic that someone posted a specific method, for the Home Run Derby, to use Roy with. If I recall correctly, MysticWarrior responded, to his success, an astounding 1700+ meters. Considering my highest score was 1508 meters, with Roy, I am very curious about this method... I have already attempted searching for it, but alas, to no avail. If anybody finds this procedure, or is able to duplicate it, I would be most grateful. Thanks.

That having been said, Marth is far more agile than Roy, and he is now my best character, with Falco/Fox and Link following.

Agreed! I used to use Roy but swapped over to Marth as i believe that to be the natural progression in the game. I have Fox as my backup and aside from that probably Mewtwo (dont ask). I love Link but i just cant use him as he's too slow.

Indeed. I function best with the swiftest characters, which is why I too turned to Marth, over Roy. As for Link, it is true that he is slow, but his long-range item techniques easily make up for that; as an alternative, consider Young Link, who is faster but of course has a decrease in strength.

Young Link, interestingly, has the unique ability to strike multiple times with the Spin Attack, on the ground. Link's Spin Attack will strike you away, but Young Link's, in a sense, traps the character...

And he has Fire Arrows. Joy.

I thought that depending on how you timed it, Adult Links up and B did the same thing as Young Links? It can hit people away instantly, but i thik if they're right next to you it holds them in for that final powerful stroke.

Link's Spin Attack is better. Young Link's Fire arrows do suck. The only cooly yooly thingy is that it's fire... They are weaker than Link's and have a shorter range. Yeah I said Link was slow but he has some good things I realise just now when I am tyoping this message! :wacko: But YOung Link is better cuz he just IS! He's younger and his pose isn't *** like (sorry for Link's pose lovers....) and yeah he can do the jump on the wall. Oh yeah and YL's Air Down A sometimes has a meteor like effect thats when you see fire on your foe when you attacked him with it.

Well, [Young] Link is quite slow, regardless, and I account for this by using their weapon techniques. For example, if I am in the air (generally), I prepare my Bow/Arrow to shoot it at full strength. This technique works very well with Marth or Roy, by charging up their respective blades (holding B) in the air.

And yeah i agree, i usualy charge up Marths B attacks in the air, but i don't tend to go the full way and charge them totally. I use it more of a "landing area clearance" method so that i dont get dived on as i land.

Well, since Marth's blade charges up pretty quickly, I can usually release it with full effect. But I see what you are saying; Marth's "B + Up" technique leaves him vulnerable when he lands down, so charging up in the air is an alternate strategy.

Also note that Marth's charged-sword technique can break through shields.

I have only been able to carry out the single combo (always "B + Side"). I am particularly fond of the last strike, for when you press "B + Down", Marth/Roy will jab the foe three times, very quickly, and it is pretty useful. However, I have yet to master that.

Yeah, i owned the game for about 4 months before realising that existed!! I accidentally pulled it off one time and my friends and I were really excited, so much so that we spent the next hour working out how it was done. But i gave up in the end as in fairness, although it looks cool, it doesnt make all that much difference to the normal version.

I believe there are 28 stages in total. To get Flat World (Mr. Game and Watch's stage)... naturally, it is one of the last stages you get, and you must have Mr. Game and Watch unlocked, at the very least. To unlock that character, you must have played 1000 vs. matches, or play through either Classic or Adventure mode with all the other 24 characters.

I also happen to like the variety of colors for Kirby, in particular the green one, which is just cute. Ever have a Kirby swallow up Mr. Game and Watch? He becomes... odd. He turns all black, almost like a silhouette.

THE funniest thing happened this morning. This is what you get for playing with level 3 CPUs.

Peach has a high amount of damage. She set a motion sensor bomb and stayed close to it, but not too close. She threw a pokeball that unleashed Scizor. Scizor turns around and BAM! It hits the MSB, and sends peach flying out the side.

Scizor is definetly the strongest pokemon in SSBM. If he hits you twice, you are gone.

Mew, like Celebi, simply lingers for a moment and then floats away. It is a rare occurence that is rewarded with a new "Special" moment in that log... err, you know what I'm talking about, hopefully... where things such as new characters and new stages are appear, and when they were achieved and such.

I like Lugia the most of the Pokémon in the Poké Balls. If it hits you, your almost dead even at low damage. If you survive, RUN!! Cause it will shoot Aeroblast at you and if you hitten buy that you'll surely die. Even if your not hitten by the wings you will get let's say 120% damage.

Lugia's Aeroblast does only a little more than 55-60% damage. 120%...yeah right. That'd be a pretty cheap pokemon.

Even though it does little damage, it has great strength. The home run bat does little damage, but has too much strength.

Zxor, 55-60% isn't little, it's actually a lot. Home Run Bat is an automatic KO, unless something really dumb happens, so it doesn't matter how much damage it does. The Beam Sword and the Parasol are my favorite weapons. The Home Run Bat is way too cheap as a weapon, so I don't play with it.

The Umbrella is SO powerful if you use smash attack, aand it helps you not die, so it is a really good weapon.

It's fun using the Parasol for floating around. It also hits enemies higher than the others. The Beam Sword is a more agile weapon though, and is pretty much equally as powerful.

Well, it's all the same once you swing it. It's definitely much better looking in SSBM than in SSB. The fan is more powerful in SSBM, as throwing it does the most damage than swinging it.

Well, kinda. Not really one of the best, but good enough. It's fun to use because it's super fast. I like to keep tapping A and see my character keep swinging the fan at high speeds.

I find the fan very difficult to control by tapping A repeatedly. I usually end up throwing it at my foes. The Home Run Bat, of course, does extremely high damage (usually KO'ing a foe), but if you are unable to score a hit, throwing it also does decent damage.

Furthermore, I know this may have been asked previously, but how do you throw the hammer? I am not referring to the head, but the whole object; I believe this unlocks a special trophy if done successfully.

XDD that is the eternal plaguing question Riad. I have tried everything to get the hammer to be thrown. I thought it just got you one of the bonus awards but..I cant remember exactly. I would love to know myself but i really dont think you can...

It would be pretty amazing if you were able to throw a hammer. It doesn't matter, as grabbing the hammer's head when it falls off and throwing it is good enough for me.

The hammer is fun to use, but renders everything but single-jumping obsolete. One of my favorite Event Matches is the one where CF has to race across the F-Zero track to get to the finish line while avoiding F-Zero machines as well.

I really like hyrule temple. Its the largest stage, and if you turn the items off, it's a great place to show your skills.

Are you talking about hitting the enemy from one side to the other? Of course you won't hit him/her off in one hit from that location. Hit the enemy off the edge when you're close to it, and if you're not, hit him/her up in the air.

The "underground" portion of Hyrule Temple is a ridiculously annoying place. Your opponent(s) may have very high damage, but every smash attack will strike them hard, but only so they "bounce" of the walls. It gets really difficult to KO any character.

The Hyrule Temple theme is by far one of my favourites ;)

Yeah, I know what you mean. We mostly said everything about this game. The main character? What do you mean. Do you which character the game focuses on? IF so, then I would say Mario because all the characters attributes we based after Mario and his moves.
