I use Pikachu and Pichu now more than ever. They are good charaters but I use Pichu more because it looks so cute!

yes pichu certainly has the cute factor - i have a friend who uses pikachu all the time with his green hat costume (irish pika) and everytime he kills someone he celebrates, pauses the game and zooms in on it - this usually results in him getting three on oned but its annoying even still...

I like...Zelda, Pikachu (O.o I dont use him as much anymore), and...Link sometimes, and when I like to goof around, I use any character randomly.

Has anyone ever tried using Marth and Roy against eachother and using the same exact moves eachother? It's a made up gamed me and a friend of mine created called "Mirror".
~.^;; Since Marth and Roy have a bit (Or...do) have the same similarity in the game, I use them against each other.

(But one time a bomb appeared in front of us, and made us fly off the screen)

I have had that happen to me and my sis once. It was a all out Kirby battle we were both blown away at the same time and we both had one life. Funny thing is I died just a fraction of a second before my sis did and I still won imagine that?

I have played a new game with my mates... It's called Pika Pokémon Party! One player MUST be Pikachu, the others are Pichu. The Pichu players must get Pokeballs and attack Pikachu with it. The Pikachu can't grab the balls, BUT he can attack the other players and the Pichu may not. It must be a handicapped battle otherwise the Pikachu player won't gets a change. Give the Pikachu Handicap 9 and the Pichu's 5. Play it with 0.5 damage rato.

No, Roy has the strongest move in the game, thats why it takes away 10 hp from himself, and that move makes the target in Homerun derby go really far.

the other difference is that hey do damage with different parts of their sword (marth with the tip - roy with the middle) has anyone perfected the many varietes of combo they can do?i dont mean the four ones you get when you do sideways and B straight, i mean when you press sideways and B then up and B to get different results? You can charge up then let go before it reaches the end, so it will do a lot of damage, but not very much, and you won't be damaged.

Well Marth is OK. But I like Mario or Peach more than him.

Flare Blade is a kick-ass move...
Especially against my n00b friends and CPUs.

Flare Blade is powerfull, but you need too many time to load! In a fight againts a lvl 9 CPU you can NEVER use it! Even a lvl 1 CPU uses a weak attack when you finally loaded the move! So I think that attack stinks!

you know yoshis down and A (when he's in the air - the drill thing) you jump right next to the sandbag and do it immediately so that as you're going up you're dealing damage and as you're going down you deal it too. This means you do about 30% every time and you get it in about 4 times...

Just because its nearly impossible to pull of doesn't mean it sucks...
I just press B (no charging) to knock back an opponent...Useful in tense battles...

IF you want to KO your opponent quick, use Bowser, Ganondorf or DK. Your foe is much lighter and weaker than normal and they just let them blow away.

Fox is bad! Too light... If a heavy weight suceeds to attack you, Fox is almost KO. And I think that Fox's recover moves are not that great. :agitated:

If you know how to use fox properly then he can recover pretty quickly. Hes not as light as some people in the game. If hes at %120 damage then it's easy to blast him off but who says you can give me that much damage :P

Marth and Fox are OK... But I don't really like them, Young Link is more my type and if I use a light character I use Pichu or Pikachu. I can easy give Fox damage... I almost know much strategies of him and most of them are with that B -> attack which if a very annoying attack! Just dodge it and grab him then you'll KO him!

it amazes me that you guys thing that one mistake will result in a KO...this is melee!! i've been so close to winning a game before only for the random and unfair to happen. For example - i like to have fun with it ok? so i was on one life and so was my rival...he was on 120% damage though and i was on 0%...i picked up an electrode as fox and was gonna sideways and B at him with it so i would blow us both up...the a mini mushroom landed on me just before i couls thus making me drop the electrode and cancelling my move...the electrode blew up and cos i was mini i got shot to hell straight away....was funny though ^-^

Even the slightest second could change wether you win or lose...
Fox has a great recovery move, since its range isn't bad and you can control the direction...
Though, one slight tilt could cause you to fly somehere else...=D

its also most infuuriating when mario whacks you with his cape and you continue in a totally different direction (usually to your doom). I appreciate that this can happen with any chaacter but for me it seems to happen most with Fox cos people get more of a warning...

It does get annoying after a while, doesn't it. You have to use a very light character to beat a power guy though. DK is only good against un-experienced players. Is there anyone here, that prefers DK over any character? I doubt it.

I like to use DK. He's great agains Kirby or Yoshi. A fast character like Fox is a though opponent for him. But he's good. IMO he's better than Link.

Mediocre Selection of moves

Great Advantages:

Strong
Hard to knock out (not really)

Not to mention his taunt... :D
DK is great...Its just that I've never faced an opponent that was actually good with him...

Ness is a great character...
PK thunder is good airborne technique, while Pk fire is good for stopping a guy in his tracks...
Smash moves are great, and dodge is fast...

I like his PK Fire but it is a short range attack. Hes an ok player. I like fast people like Fox and Marth so maybe thats why I don't like him.

I was never good with Ness really. Even though Ness is good in getting back on the stage and all, Ness is a bit of weak character to me. I like using Zelda, even though she isn't very fast in her princess form, she's fast when she's shiek. Go figure.

Ness is lame, hjs yoyo smashes are weak and the bat smash is easy to block, PK Fire is a good attack nut PK Thunder not! It's just a little beam which you only can control... You can't KO someone with that! And PK Flash always fails agains good opponents. Hijs best move is PSI Magnet, I love that attack.

No Sheik is just fast, she is definently NOT powerfull!!! In power she stinks! But she is very good at speed and air attacks. She is not my favorite character because she runs to fast, is quite light and she's wak in my opion. I am more a Pokémon dude ;) Well much because I like to fight with Pikachu/Pichu and my favorite is Mewtwo. Then comes DK, then Yoshi and then Jigglypuff.

Look Ness's move take to long PK Flash or thunder or whatever(Its the green sparks) is just to slow. Plus when you hit him his attack doesn't do damage it just fades away. Sheik is weak with her smash move but put speed into it and she is dangerous. Her moves are quick so sooner or later she will knock you off the stage plus she can transform into Zelda who has more power so I see Shiek as a great player.

Well I did, I do always a style in the fight. A Mushroom Match with Mario, Luigi, Peach and Yoshi or Bowser. But I like more a Pokémon battle between Mewtwo, Pikachu, Jigglpuff and Pichu. I set Pokéball at high and the lives on 99. I can't stand long battles so it's handicapped.
I use Mewtwo and battle the others and win of course! :)

Just press B and any side at the same time...
(Ex: Samu's Homing Missile turns into a fast, yet powerful missile...)

Link uses his grappling hook to latch on to the edge like Samus uses her laser rope thingy.
Link and Young Link are probably the only characters who can do a double Smash Attack.

The Ice Climbers are hard to use. It's annoying that you have to have Popo in or else you lose a point. If Popo is knocked off screen and Nana is still on, you still get a K.O. 2 is twice the power, as only Popo gives only half the power.

Yeah I agree... Mewtwo should be more powerfull than he is in SSBM. Although his throws are the best in the game, he needs a very powerfull attack, away with the Shadow Ball and give him a attack that does 40 damage or something. And he needs a healing move and he needs to be heavier.

I don't like C.F. The way he acts... His clothes, poor jumps, too fast to control (and Sheik isn't the second fast person, it's Fox then comes Pichu.) and I don't like his moves. And ever saw him in the white/pink outfit? :blink: If not, don't do!

Look C.F. and Fox are pretty close in speed. Infact I think that C.F and Fox are tie when it comes to speed.

Fox is better IMO becuase he's not cheap with his stats...
He has nice variety of moves yet he's speedy...
On the other hand CF has extrodinary stats and unbelievable moves...
Any newbie can use CF and kill a vet...

Captain Falcon is just a lame character who every newbi can use! Link is the same but you can have tactic with him. Captain Falcon is just a racer. And his moves like Falcon Punch... So unbelievable! He has a slow dodge too I think... Pretty weird for the fastest character around. I think it is weird too that Fox and Captain Falcon (drivers of a plane and racecar) are the fastest characters! Their verciles are fast, but why are they too? I mean look at Bowser in Mario Kart, he's one of the fastest character and in SSBM he's just a slow turtle dragon!

Anyways Luigi is not a bad character. Stat based he's better than Mario. Higher weight, higher jumps but less powerfull in my eyes... Dr. Mario is a lame character... He's just a Mario clone. I can find anymore difrences between then uleas the Smash > and B attack....

I do! Roy is too slow somewhat... He runs good but his attacks are easy to dodge. Sure his counter is annoying. But it needs timing and it keeps your back open for an attack.

im pretty sure i've been killed by the reciol of mewtwos shadow ball more then it has killed anyone else...you'll dl it in midair and then it'll send you off the edge..resulting in frantic attempts to get back and then death via snidey opportunist

There are different counter moves in a the game. Marth/Roy and Falco/Fox Mario/Dr Mario and Zelda. I really like Mario's counter move, his cape is long plus it can turn anyone around which gives you a great chance to do some attacks on your enemy.

Heh I remember a close battle I had with my sis. We were kirby's and I had a bomb in my hand. Well I tossed my bomb at her and we were both blown of off the stage(also we both had only one life) We didn't know who won but my sis was sure that she beat me and was doing her happy dance.(yes her happy dance shes only 9) To bad for her at the end of the game it announced me as the winner -_-. That was a good match.

Its hard to say. When I reflect the item usually gets blasted off above my head. Sometimes though when I reflect the item still hits me in the head. I guess as long as you don't reflect an item at the bottom of your sword you wont get hit with it.

Jigglypuff's only good move is her B+Down move. It does 20% damage, which is pretty good.

Nooo the B+Down move of Jiggly does may more damage... And I don't like counter at all. For projectiles it's almost useless because the hit with the sword doesn't work. And Pichu is not bad. He's one of my faves. And Jigglypuff's B+Down move is not her only good move. B+Up is also good with your enemy with above 100% damage. THen use B to KO them.

The opponent sleeps longer when you have given them more damage. It works the same as with Mewtwo's Disable and DK's headbut.

he's the best evasive charcter in my opinion cos he seems to stay "dodged" for that bit longer then the rest....plus his up and B is uninterruptable apart from right at the start. Jigglypuff i would only ever use in a fun match. Its always amusing to see the computer try a last ditch attempt at survivng by using its up and B though^^

Pichu is useless...When you set items on the field, that's when he becomes useful...
The purpose of him being in SSBM is to collect items...

Mewtwo's dodge isn't so quick and his teleport leaves you vulnerable for a few seconds when you are landing...
No matter which side you control your land, you have a chance of getting hit by a quick character...

I like using ganandorfs ^ B move, I workes really well, and you can do it on the ground, he also has a really good move where he lifts up his leg then smashes it on the person, That is definetly his strongest move.

Whats also cool is when you press ^ on the D pad, they do a cool thing, like ganandorf spins aroound, can't explain it very well, and Young link drinks milk :smile:

^ on the D-pad works for every character-it lets them taunt! Ganondorf's leg explosion move isn't his strongest; it's B. Peach is actually a pretty decent fighter. She can do the explosion move (B+>), pluck veggies out of the ground (B+Down), and she can float in midair!

Peach's smash attacks are weak but her midair-attacks are powerful. Also her up and down smash attacks are pretty powerful as well. Anyways she can also stay afloat above the air for a good period of time and float back down with her umbrella.

Well in my oppoin he has a long dodge. His dodge is amasing! His sideways dodge is what slow and his air dodge too but the ground dodge where you go after the back is soooo good! Use Shadow Ball in the back and away they go. If that don't work... try Disable.

The answer: No characters are better than one another. Many people have brought this up...
It just depends on your fighting style and the way you play...
If you prefer power, maybe you'd say Ganondorf is better...
If you prefer speed, maybe you'd say Fox is better...

It just matters how you play and the way you string together your attacks...

I agree with Mr. Dude. You have to exploit your opponents weaknesses using your own special abilities. Myself, I am very good at weak attacks during mobilization. Others are good at timing their powerful attacks so they will hit every time.

ultimately...i have found...that the most powerful players are the ones who are incredibly fast. If they have a fast characters they're a joy to compete with. It is one of the key factors (although i accept not the only one) in defeating good players

I have the timing for useing strong attacks too. You must use it when someone is off guard or is running at you. Take Samus and Luigi in a fight... Luigi uses his B Smash> attack. Then it's the time for Samus to shoot her Charge Shot. Or when Luigi uses his running A attack, Samus dodges to his back and shoots the Charge Shot. That's the way I use the strong attacks.

Ummm... If that's gonna happen that the blow is reflexed... Well then I get hit... THis is embarasing but, how can you reflect blows with your sheild? It's the only technique I can't in SSBM. <_<

you just have to put the shield up at the absolute last second...its risky and difficult to master but a real pain to everyone else..you may also have to just tap the shield button rather then hold it in - i do that but it might not be a requirement..i have never tried without it so i dont know.

And i always fight luigi but thats more cos he's freaking annoying and ha sa silly voice then cos i like him or anything. I like to really hate the characters im fighting.

Actually, quite bizarrely, i absolutely refuse to fight Zeldas..its a wierd loyalty thing and its the reason i always lose to my friend (who uses sheik) - i will fight if its a human zelda but i have not the experience of fighting them so i struggle. Im also very reluctant to fight link...young link on the other hand...hehehe

Yeah Zelda is annoying! I don't like her much. She is like a not-so-good clone of Mewtwo, well in some ways. Mewtwo's teleport is better than Zelda's Faore's Wind.

Luigi is a strange kind of person... In much games he's well around. But in M&L SS he's the slow defensive guy while he's mid weighted and just as speedy as Mario is SSBM... Weird. :S
