Pokémon aren't useless I think. Pikachu is good for a battle with 4. Pichu does too (I don't understand why they maked him in the game though.) Jigglypuff sucks somewhat. And Mewtwo is good for 1 agains 1 battles.

And you are right about that Mewtwo blows away FAR too easily... Nintendo weakend him allot for SSBM. Thats a shame I think because I would like to see him use attacks like: Psychic (instead of Shadow Ball) and Recover (instead of Disamble). Butt he isn't bad! He's my best character! His throw is very good and his Confusion shoots back beams like Samus' Charge Shot (it's a shame that it doens't does damage) and Disamble lets your opponent the stunned for a few seconds. He is good... Butt vey hard to handle.

Oh that one is easy!! Use DK or Pikachu!
For DK use this:
Ground pound (under B) the hole time.

Pikachu:
Use that non-smash up tail attack. It send everyone of those strange creatures away.

And you can always use Kirby to dodge all of them using his ability to fly! ;) Altough it's lame. :P

I think Pichu is a bad character...The downfall is that you have to add to your percent total if you use one of his electric moves...If you didn't have to sacrifice, then he would be better than Pikachu...Disable is one of my favorite moves for Mewtwo but going up against Humans with Disable is a bad idea...

quite an immpossible question to answer. no wait, you could cheat and use a gameshark, but i highly suggest against that. or any other kind of cheating.

for me, i used roy (my best character) and just hit them and hit them and hit them........and hit them until they died. his smash attack is fairly decent, and using the charge, when the stupid computer jumps back onto the platform, BAM you knock them away. here's a strategy: don't try to attack all of them at the same time. separate them. they come at approximatley the same speed so it's like knocking only one of them except it's a line of 1's.

I think that SSBM is very unfair... Nintendo weakend most of thier powerfullest characters and made fella's like Ice Climbers, Mr. G&W and Dr. Mario superstars! And Kirby knows to many moves I think!! He didn't even used most of them in his game!

Butt I think it's unfair the most for: Ganondorf, Bowser, Mewtwo and Samus... They could blow away Mario with one attack if they had full power... Butt it's a shame they haven't.

Yea it does...But a skilled opponent wouldn't fall for such an obvious head on strike...

That's what I like about facing Humans....You must use mind games in order to beat them, not just your skills...

Roys (< or >) smash attack is very powerful...You get about 2 seconds to charge it up before your opponent gets up from your last hit...

Trust me, when you are facing against a human you will never get a chance to power up your move...
Humans never fall for such obvious attacks like that but it you string it together with a variety of combos (which is hard for Roy) you can easily raise they damage percent...

Of course Pikachu has got the time for chaging his attack!! Humans are not superior (or something)! Humans also have weaknesses! I take out all my friends (who are experiend as well) when they use Roy or Marth and I KO them with Pikachu without much stress. Pikachu is a good character!! His smashes are very good! His special attacks too! Butt he only lacks in weight and in physical power... Butt with his speed, he is much faster than any Human. His trows are perfect for useing combo's! So I think... Afther Mewtwo, Pikachu is the best!

And I have an idea... Shall I make a board called: Super Smash Bros. 3? I would love to discus about a game like that! Well shall I? Shall I?

Even though Shiek has no "K.O" moves, I find her very easy to use...
You can K.O enemies easily even though Shiek has no finishing moves becuase of her speed...
I love moves that swing an enemy up high becuase it K.O's the enemy without effort at high percentages... :ph34r:

Yeah I love to trow to! Especialy with Mewtwo, Ness and Pikachu. When you do with them, they got time to use Shadow Ball, PK Flash and Thunder. Those moves are very powerfull when you got over 100% of damage. But I also use trow with Mewtwo as a offense! Mewtwo's trow ^ is very strong. I think that he can trow the fartherst in the game.

They would have to be fast and their jump has to be high...

When i first started with SSBM, I used fox. He's fast, and his smash attacks kick a lot of arse.

Now i use samus. You just fire millions of missiles at them, then smash attack/jump kick them to death when they get too close, and shoot a fully charged beam at them when they try to get back on the edge >:)

And I find his charged beam very cheap becuase everyone charges it up...But you can easily dodge it by using (L or R) + (< or >) air doge...

You think it's useless but it's a kick ass move! When you smash you opponent almost out of the screen, use that Charge Shot! No-one can reflect that blow when he/she is recovering from another blow!

When I use Samus, her downward smash, forward smash, kick while in the air and downward smash in the air are perfect for destroying people in close combat. Then you just use missiles to annoy them and throw them if you can.
Her charge shot is very cheap. I rarely use it. But you do get a certain satisfaction when you kick someones arse with a fully charged shot. It's very hard to kill people with that because they have plenty of time to dodge or reflect.

Her grapple beam is awsome too. especially on levels like the fountain where the level is solid all the way down. It takes much more timeing to save yourself on, say, final destination (my personal fav level).

Well Samus is ok... You CAN defend with her, just run away and shoot a missle! That's very cheap and annoying! That why I use it! And the Charge Shot is NOT cheap because it's powerfull I mean 25% of damage with 1 attack is high, I like Shadow Ball better because it turns with a crazy loop so it's harder too reflect or block and when charging Shadow Ball, you can damage your opponent while loading.

Roy is great though. So is Falco. Falco owns :P.

I was also dissapointed that Diddy wasn't in it, lol. Back when I was a huge DK fan, Diddy was my fav :D.

MEWTWO WEAK??? :wub: He's NOT!!! He's one of the powerfullest characters I know! Yeah he is easy to set flying... But did you even tried to throw with him? Yeah his throw Up moves lets eveyone fly high! He can throw the best of all in the game! His throw down and Smash down is a perfect combo. Mewtwo is cheap. I have a friend that uses Mewtwo to just "Up + B" all the time to avoid actually fighting.

I prefer Link, then Marth for a good smash.

Well Link is not really a very speedy character. His smash > takes a LONG time to load. I like his bow the best. His bow is faster, and stronger than Young Link ones but they don't have fire (which is cool) and Young Link's bow is faster use... Link's boomerang is weird! It does more damage when you stand before your opponent... Bleh weird!

Actually, everyone's smash takes the same amount of time...
I love Links and Young Link's smash becuase it propells him foward and it is a 2 part smash...

Yeah the the 2 blow smash works good! But the second is easy to dodge or block because you already know what is coming after you get the attack in your face. Link's hookshot throw is not good. He can't throw far and if you dodge the grab, Links back wil be open for a strong attack... That is why I don't use Link much, I love to throw!

Well, DK, have you tried using Link, Young Link, and Samus' throw functions to catch onto a ledge right before you fall off the stage? That's a pretty nifty maneuver, but it's hard to accomplish just by practicing it. Try using it as a substitute for using the special save move (A.K.A. B+Up).

If you check out Super Smash Bros.: Arena (the website; not a new installment), they have so little on the sequel that it's hard to know if Hal Labratory is able to get up on their sorry rears and work on it.

As for me (and I can just feel the hate shedding off from you unto me), I'd rather use Mr. Game&Watch.

For one thing, it took a lot of time to get used to his bizzare array of moves, but I pretty much know the conditions of getting a level 9 hammer (I know it's random; so I use the hammer sparringly) to the mid-air A attack (the parachute). The parachute is powerful on it's own, but it's great for finishing a turtling combo (after hitting the normal A attack rapidly, flip them up with Down+A, then finally time the parachute). Normally, his directional and normal A attacks are excellent, but to use them to their full potential, you've gotta knock around the opponent more often, then execute them.

Anyone got good ideas on Team Battle match-ups?

I went over to my friends house, and we were playing, and sometimes we would pause the game, and look at our characters in funny poses. But when someone stops the pause, someone always has fox...THE PERSON ALWAYS DOES FOX ILLUSION ACROSS THE FIELD! So basically were all flying in the air over and over.

But whenever someone tries to stop in using the Fox Illusion, T_T Somehow, a Bomb just comes and blows us all off the field!

I am pretending that the tournament is Colloso and I only let sword fighter dudes join and other Middle Age characters like Ganondorf and co.

Mewto should be faster and heavier and have a STRONG move... Link must be faster! (I didn't know he was so... slow) And make Mario weaker! He's just too good for a fire-ball throwing plumber/hero... Link is definately powerful...
When I mean powerful, I don't mean "strong"...
He has nice variety of moves, ranging close to far...
His attacks aren't the strongest, but he is truly the ultimate swordsman character becuase his moves are balanced...
For Example:
Link has a strong spin slash (Up + B )...If someone dodges your smash attack, you can counter that weakness by doing a spin slash...

Example #2:
If you shoot a boomerang against someone, and they dodge it, they can still get hit by it when it comes back, but if they dodge that too, they'll be too distracted, and that's when you have an opening to a strong smash attack...

See? Link is a powerful character becuase of his moves and if you string them together at the right amount of time, you can defeat your opponent easily...Speed plays a major role in this too, because if he is fast at moving around the stage, he could kill the opponent more easily and quickly...

Yeah if you look so at him, he's pretty good... But playing with a heavy character like DK is Link's dead... They can't be kicked out fast and because of his slow speed he can't escape (I do that often and shoot arrows at my opponent =P)... Especialy DK and Captian Falcon because they can run fast.

Actually, against huge enemies is what Link does best...
(^ + B ) is useful to hitting their huge bodies and since they're so big, Link's long range attacks can easily hit the opponent becuse of his huge body...
Captain Falcon will be a challenge but Link's dodge is enormously fast (for a slow character) and his 2nd smash slash will do wonders once CF misses with a Falcon Kick or Falco Punch...

I must admit that although i dont use link (i use marth cos he best suits my fighting style) he is very powerful. His second smash swipe is incredibly annoying as i have a tendency to forget about it and only make an effort to dodge the first one. The one reason i dont use link though is that in order to carry out arial attacks i press "Z" instead of "A" as its also easier to catch items with. Unfortunately if you do this with link he fires his hookshot which is not very desirable for me usually.

His second swipe is easy to dodge and when you are behind him I use a strong attack. That's why I like Mewtwo. He's good only not againts Pikachu op Pichu. Agains Fox I use Throw down and Smash down and that combo work always good to your enemy with 70% +.

Mewtwo is slow, and he's not my type of character...
Roy and Link is nearly the best fight I've ever experienced...
Both almost equally as fast, and equally as strong...
Marth is a sinch to beat against my friends (they are very good) becuase he's fast, but his weakness actually lies in his speed...
I attack them, they dodge, I dodge back, and etc...
But power plays a major role in the battle...
If you keep dodging, you won't get anywhere, so you gotta attack them first...
And Roys attacks hurt alot...String it together and you got a killing machine...

i dunno - ive played people as Roy before and never had too much difficulty - the real pain for me in melee is sheik - i know it doesnt sound that bad but when the person you play against uses her sideways and a in the air all the time it gets very hard to do your fave attacks (if like me they involve attacking from above)

Sheik is my favorite character to use. She's one of the fastest characters in the game. Her B moves aren't powerful, but I find the chain attack to be amusing. Her A moves, however, are pretty powerful.

Roy is strong against other swordsmen characters...
Roy is definately the best IMO...
He feels comfortable when I play with him...and enemies can be easily smashed away...just dodge and kill...

curiously, unless you put his shield up just before it hits, the star rod doesnt get reflected ( i think - its been a while) it may even go on to do normal damage to him. It also great cos it sends people flying downwards. ^^

I like to Meteor-Attack my opponents! Thats another reason why I like Mewtwo... Throw down and smash down... Or throw down and jump smash. Such a good combo's with throwing... Or throw up and Meteor Atatk work good as well! I always throw with Mewtwo!

Well Marth's one is not a powerfull down push move... I prefer to use it with Mewtwo, C. Falcon, Falco, Ganondorf and Luigi because those attacks kick anyone down with power! =D And with Mewtwo use throw -> and Meteor Attack at a edge of a platform and you will KO anyone if you are fast!

marths still packs quite a punch - i very rarely see people get back from it. To be honest though if people know that you're going to do that throw then meteor why dont they just prepare for it and either dodge the meteor or allow it to hit and up and b straight away? I think the most annoying way to die is when yo get eaten by kirby right at the edge of the platform and then it walks off the edge and spits you out just as both of you are about to die.

Sure, Marth lacks strength. But he has speed. Agility. He can dodge effectively, his Dolphin Slash (B + Up) is an excellent move to use in Mid-Air against opponents. And then, of course, there is his counter (which Roy, of course, has as well).

Simply put, if you are using Marth or Roy for the first time, follow this rule:

No! Hyrule Temple is a good level! I like it because you can hide and play cowardly in that stage :) I like Fourside too... Especialy when I battle with Mewtwo. And I like the old skool levels too! It does seem to be the case that a lot of the experienced gamers think that items are a cheap way to win a match...I think if you're playing someone who isnt as good as you then it levels the playing field cos they might get 5 hammers ( i love it when the heads come off hammers - they're so powerful to throw around). Also, yeah if you're playing to see who seriously is the best then it has to be done on final destination with no items...but playing for fun surely they add to the madness? i always thought so even if i do lose by being homerunned six times in succession. ^^

The items are a great inclusion and make the battles a hell of a lot more frantic, the only really cheap item is the hammer.

PK Fire is a stupid attack! I HATE IT! It's hard to dogde and if you block ot you can be hitted by it which gives Ness a good change to SMash you.

My favorite character now is... PICHU! I like that little fella!

If pichu gets 70 damage or more he can be blasted out of the stage. I mean like one good smash attack and flaoting above up and turns into a star. Plus he does damage to himself. His only good qualityis that hes fast but fox is fast to and he doesn't go flying with one kick at 70 damage.

Well if you play with Pichu, NEVER let your opponent attack! Go in the offense! Not in the defense! And ofcourse dodge as many as you can and flee from your enemy! Always use Hyrule Temple so that you flee you can use Skull Bash! Hahah cowardly, but his way to survive! :lol:

sadly pichus offense tends to do more damage to him then anyone else but i take the point - the game suggests using him as an item character cos its fast and small and stuff

Huh even if you used skull bash it still does damage to you. plus it takes time to recover from using that move and by that time your opponent has already caught up to you.

Anyways, even though Roy isn't the strongest or fastest in terms of stats, he's still the most comfortable for me (even though I mentioned this plenty of times earlier...)

Mr. Game and Watch is too light! If he was middle weighted he would be OK... He is bad in recovering from blows, and if he is send flying it's hard to come back! Pichu and Mewtwo are the best characters! And that will never change!

EDIT: Did you knew that Pikachu is heavier than Fox? Since I knew that, I think that Fox is a weak character! He's only good at speed.

i love the fact that not everyone goes for the characters who would typically be classed as the best such as roy and link and marth etc, i do use marth but fox is my second character purely because if you're good with him then you can be a real threat. However i do agree that he goes flying way to easily

Yeah... I always thought Fox was a middle wieght. I prefer using Falco, he's slower so a bit easier to control and he has a higher jump.

I tried using Falco and Fox, I prefer fox, but I don't know to use him properly.
