yeah i mean solid ground...it happens when im just running along the arena and all of a sudden ive died off the bottom of the map. Even if i half expect it and start trying to get back up, the arena re-solidifies above me and i cant jump back up through it. Its called "the arena hates me" ^^

Poke Floats is such an annoying stage. The music is nice, but I hate moving around constantly, especially before Squrtle pops up, I always have to jump across the Unkowns to avoid falling.

pokefloats is fun stage though! Sure there's te added challenge of staying alive across a constantly changin environment but i think that adds a nice bit of variety to the game as many of the arenas are built to a similar format

Poké-floats is okay. I use it for Super Sudden Death every once in a while. It's good music to battle to, also. I haven't really had any problems keeping myself up on the Unowns until Squirtle pops up. The first couple of times was a bit harsh, but what I really find tough is the Seel (white seal-lookalike)/Goldeen (red and white fish)/Wobuffet (blue... thing) section.

As for the other pokémon stage (Kanto: Pokémon Stadium), it's a bit small, and listening to the pokémon main theme over and over again can get a bit dull (Until you earn the alternate Johto (Gold/Silver) Battle Mix), but having the stage change on you on the fly keeps things interesting, I guess.

My favorite is still Hyrule: Temple. It's a big and complex stage, and the music is fun. (Especially the alternate Fire Emblem mix, which I dubbed "Together, We Smash!", after the first part of the FE mix (Together, We Ride!))

yeah hyrule temple is a very good arena although can be hard to see where everything is if two people are standing on either side.

i still think Final Destination is my fave cos there are no arena based advantages and it comes down to pure skill - which is the best kind of match.

When the screen starts moving fast, it's better to switch to Sheik and avoid being K.O.'d. I play with Zelda/Sheik the most, and it's better to use Sheik in that situation in my opinion.

I don't like moving stages. Final Destination is my fav because there's nothing to get in the way. otherwise Hyrule is awsome. DK's one would be cool if it wasn't for the dreadful music >_<.

Pichu's purpose in the game is to collect items, as he is not a technique kinda guy...

Speed is what makes him good and use that to your advantage...

Pichu is a weaker version of Pikachu, to put it simply. Very difficult to use as well, in my opinion.

Marth and Falco are the characters I use mainly; many have argued about Roy's superiority to Marth, and while I can play as Roy quite well, Marth's speed is magnificant and suits my technique.

As for SSBM online, rumours have abounded that the Nintendo DS will have a port of the N64 version, and since the DS has Wireless Fidelity capabilities...

The fun part about them is hitting them. The just go flying if you hit them hard enough, and it's really fun!

It is cool in practice mode, if you use sheik's chain, you can get the enemy up to 999, then just totally OWN them.

Sheik's chain can be fun to use, but it's not too good to use it in a battle (especially in a 1 vs 1 battle against a Level 9 comp.). I just like doing smash attacks .

Samus is a good all rounder. Grapple onto the edges, charge shot when an oportunity presents itself, missiles (cheap! :(), smash down-a in the air for meteor KOs, backwards-a in the air for a reasonably powerful attack, grapple for throwing people, smash down-a to hit people into the air, down-a for a cheap attack to hit people into the air and interupting them (followed promtly by a backwars kick, mwahahaha), and a very good smash attack with nice damage and reasonable reach. Too bad they weakened the screw attack for SSBM. Useless now, does little damage, leaves you vulnerable in the air right next the them and it's better use the grapple for getting back onto the stage.

You need to be a very offensive player with Samus. Get int ehir and thrash your controller, leaving no room for attack. To get the most power out of her moves you need to time them, but often it leaves you too open. I find that she isn't very good at countering attacks with her own (link is best at this)

i agree that samus is a very good all round character like Neon said. Certainly its one of the hardest computer controlled characters to be up against, but i just cant stand to use her, although same as VM1, im not sure why that is. Possibly cos shes slow in comparism to the others that i use.

Actually, Isaac Zero, I do not see how a portable version of the original Super Smash Brothers (for the N64) is unfeasible. Of course, it won't be able to match the GameCube 'Melee, but it should provide the N64 experience and beyond.

Those are Final Fantasy characters, are they not? I believe that, unless Sony has some licensing rights that I am not aware of, Square-Enix's characters would never appear in an SSBM related game.

I’m also quite fond of Young Link’s arrows (burn!), and his spin attack more or less traps your opponent in multiple hits. Link can achieve the same thing, but it is rarer and not to the same effect.

Marth can be a lot stronger than he appears. One technique that I have grown accustomed to is to charge up while in the air. Since Marth’s Charge Blade is weaker but charges up quickly, you can do significant damage this way if you get used to it. Sound unconventional? It is.

Roy's takes longer, but to a much greater effect. While he can knock off enemies in one hit with that move when they're at 0%, he also does 10% damage to himself.

I've said many times that i use Marth cos he's best suited to my style as far as agility and overall maneouverability goes, BUT i have to agree with gsninja. I would never really take any other character as my favourite, but sheik is just that bit better then marth. Shes faster and her moves generally are a class above marths. I have a friend who plays as her, and although im tchnically the better and moroe experienced played, he still manages to defeat me purely cos i annot compare with sheiks speed and breakdancing

Her smashes become deadly, even though if you don't charge it...

Marth is a worthy opponent, especially in the hands of a skilled player...

Yeah but there is an easier way to get him.

Fight a 4 player math in PKMN Stadium. Make sure you have 2 controllers set on. You must kill the CPUs and your buddy or yourself in a other character go inside the Pokeball place. Player 1 in white and 2 in red. Then let em stand for 15 hours and one of you needs to be slaughed of -_- ! The winner is challenged by Mewtwo!

I use young Link most of the time, because he is quicker and I use Link sometimes ( mostly when i am fighting bowser) because he is stronger. It's almost like using Ganandorf and Captain Falcon. Gandorf is alot slower, but more powerful than C. Falcon, but on the other hand C. Falcon is faster than Ganandorf.

CF is a very well-rounded character with great speed and power. But a disadvantage I have when playing with CF is that he runs so fast that if I do a smash attack in the air (he knees), he goes flying. It's bad for me because if I'm close to the edge and I miss my opponent with that move, I might not be able to make it back to the surface after flying off.

Well, I kind of have a habit of wall jumping, but I don't use it for recovery. Sometimes, I use Link's hookshot to recover.

The only stage I am missing is the CLASSIC "Dream Land" stage. Anyone know how to get it? I forgot how to get a hold of this stage. I am to lazy to look it up.

Clear Target test with all characters.

I myself still have 3 more stages to unlock (Past Stages: Dream Land, Special Stages: Final Destination, and Past Stages: Congo Jungle.) I'm pretty far away from getting them, too.

Since I used Jigglypuff in Event 51, the only character that was easy to beat was Giga Bowser. Mewtwo and Ganondorf hit hard and were pretty relentless. Since Jiggly doesn't have and good moves, the best thing there was to do was to throw items at them. Mewtwo was lighter, so I killed him first, but Ganondorf was heavier (and a bit more powerful). I had a tougher time with him.

Well, I've been playing PS2, so let's say rusty with SSBM right now. Three level 9 computers, no items, and on Final Destination? Nah, I've never done that, and I won't be able to until I'm back to being better. I've defeated three level 9 computers on Saffron City in SSB, but I used items (except Home Run Bat, Hammer, mines, and Bomb-ombs).

i think the array of moves are varied but simple - thats part of the beauty of the game. You can get good at it quickly, but it takes ages to become...

Cheat..... I like the level ' hyrule temple' best cuz it is so big and there is a lot of places to go around.

my fave is, and always will be, Final Destination. It's the fairest arena to fight on cos its just flat. Ultimate tests of skill come from fighting there IMO. The other arena's like hyrule are very good and all, but they are just a bit too easy to get out of trivky situations on.

Heh, I agree with you all the way RB. I hate it when in Hyrule temple you winning a battle against your friend and he jumps to the bottom floor so your smacking him around but he just bounces around and hits you back. Then out of no where you get hit and out of chance you can't recover and you fall to your doom. Final Destination is a stage where you can't run and hide. It's all about skill baby.

the Battlefield is good for that too i guess, and is a touch more varied, but even so i still think FD is the main test. Plus, is it just me or is th battlefied in versus mode a little bit...floatier then other arenas? By which i mean less gravity.

the only thing I don't like about Hyrul Temple is the bottom left. No matter how many times you smash, throw, bomb or shoot the other player, they just hit solid wall and come bouncing back for more :P.

I beat event 51 using Ness' up-b attack. you jumb off the stage and pk thunder yourself back into bowser,mewtwo and ganondorf who are crouded on the edge. Sometimes giga bowser just falls off too, so that helps :P.
I also found Link's double smash attack to be very effective, but never actually beat them that way.

It is fun, you damage them a lot, then go to the edge, smash attack, they hit the wall and bounce off and die. XD

I prefer to use the Beam Saber the most. Just an ordinary bludgeoning weapon with no additional side effects. And it looks so darn cool. B)

Crates and other storage items are fun, too. Gotta' love that 12.5% chance of a violent explosion.

im pretty sure it varies at critical points in the match. Like right before you're about to smash someone, an explosive something or other will lodge itself under your sword, causing immense pain and inevitable death.

Or am i just unlucky?

Going quickly back to items, I have to say Marth, Roy, or Link using a charged up Smash Attack with a Beam Sword looks unbelievably cool. And there is nothing more satisfying than deflecting a bomb back at your opponent with Falco or Fox B)

I love to use that to my advantage. And I love to use the fan; since, upon striking an opponent (when thrown), it causes them to fall at a downward angle. A good way to prevent recovery. :agitated:

Gah! Yes, that's what I meant, Raven. ><! I can't believe that I forgot. Been a while, but yes, the Star Rod. Green Koopa Shells are pretty effective like that, too, though. The red ones are just a nuisance; they do a lot of damage, but they don't have that force to cause a knockout.

i agree about the star rods though - i use them frequently for exactly the reason you stated. Green shells are ace, especially when Bobombs are on cos they can fly across an arena, hit a bomb and come straight back which causes no end of panic and amusement^^

SSBM is the perfect game for raising hell. I think it's BETTER when your opponent enlarges, because it makes them a bigger target. Giga Bowser, anyone? :agitated: I hate Mr. Saturns, though; they seem so useless.

mr saturns do major damage to someones shield. You can break it in two hits o.o!

thats the only use i found though. And yeah its more chaotic when you enlarge characters certainly.

I only use Mr. Saturn in Adventure Mode, because if you use him alot you will get Mr. Saturn Fan, When your done with the battle, and it's worth alot of points. :agitated:

Ah! I remember the bumpers, those were fun. The flippers really do pale in comparison, though. Funny; I thought that they had successfully carried over all the old items ALONG with adding more. Guess some got lost in the transfer.

yeah it seems they did make alterations, although i cant thing of any others off the top of my head. The bumpers could kill instantly on 200% damage (the setting, not the amount of damage). Flippers just cant do that.

I disable flippers for the most part. They're just a bother UNLESS you cleverly place them on the edge of the stage, preventing your enemy from making a recovery. :P
