There used to be only one level 80 2-handed sword, the Heaven's Gate (my sword). The Blue Screamer was a GM-only weapon. Then in Korean Maple Story, before we even got level 80 items, Wizet thought it'd be cool to release the Blue Screamer. So they did. And we copied off them.

How's this for a killing pattern:
1. Fire Boars until I level up
2. Cellions until I level up
3. Repeat until Savage blow becomes of more use to me than Lucky 7.

Damn this method is expensive, but it gets the job done very fast. 20% in an hour at the Cellions today (approx).

jms exp is 50% more for each monster, so like fireboars give 90exp and stuff, and everyweekend they get 2x exp, which means, fireboars give 180exp, cold eyes give 80 normal? or something which means they give 120exp on normal days in jms, and on weekends they give 240exp. And you wonder why jms top player is lvl 192 =\ I mean think of the other worlds they have, and also those lycans give over 2k exp when they are in changed form on weekends...just imagine...level over twice as fast...kthnxbai D:

They explained what taxes were for YESTERDAY.

Following the patch v. 0.17, we received many inquiries regarding a new update to MapleStory, the Tax System.

 

What is it?

 

Since the latest patch, trades or purchases from personal stores in the free market now deduct a tax from the total purchase price.  The tax is collected after a meso involving transaction between two players and is inclusive in the total selling price. A small percentage of the price paid by the buyer will be taken as TAX before the money reaches the seller.  The seller should always be aware of the tax, and needs to include it as part of the asking price.

 

For example, if player A sells an item to player B for 100,000 mesos, Player A will receive slightly less than 100,000 mesos after tax.  Player B will pay 100,000 mesos as the tax is deducted from the selling price.  

 

The tax is not deducted from every purchase and effects larger purchases following a tax table (refer to tax tables for trades and store purchases in the game).

 

Why?

 

Please understand that the tax system is not an evil collection agency.  Also, it is not unique to the global version of MapleStory.  The tax system is put in place to fight a critical danger that plagues many online games, INFLATION.  Without the tax system, prices for items will gradually increase creating an imbalance in the game.  When the tax is deducted from a trade or transaction, the mesos leave the world curbing inflation.

 

The tax system takes place after every transaction between two players. A small percentage of the price paid by the buyer will be taken as TAX before the money reaches the seller. 

All prices that are displayed should include a small set of tax rate. 

 

Why is the tax lower for personal stores?

 

The tax rate is slightly lower for personal stores available now using regular store permits sold in the cash shop.  Why?  Sure, we want to make money, but the lower tax is not the main reason why people buy the store permits.  Store permits are really excellent ways to deal in MapleStory and store managers play an important role in MapleStory's economy, game play, and community.  Some of you have voiced that we should lower the tax for trades to be fair.  If we were to make the taxes the same, we would raise the taxes in the stores before lowering the taxes in trades (because of inflation).  In some ways, you can think of stores getting a volume discount in taxes).

 

Another reason we lowered the tax for personal stores is to promote the Free Market (Stores must be opened in the Free Market).  

 

The Free Market plays an important role in MapleStory in many ways.

 

1)  In decreases lag.  (Perion Channel 1?)

2)  It makes trading easier.  (In Perion, players would overlap making trading very difficult).

3)  Increases community.  All the free markets are connected.  For example, if you go to the Free Market from Ossyria and your friend goes to the Free Market from Victoria Island, the two of you will be able to meet in the market (when you leave the Free Market, you will go back to the entry of origin).  It's a great way to meet your friends and trade when playing from distant maps.

I think the only people I've caught up with from here are PDM and phantom. On my Bera Bandit, I ran into Anubis once, but he was afk or just plain ignoring me, so that doesn't really count.

I try to keep up with most buddies that I have, but most don't seem to interested in the idea. I had a culling the other day though. I went from 17 down to 9.

But this one guy I meet way back that I won't delete. I know he's deleted me, but I want to know why. We were great mates and having a race to lv 30. I haven't heard from him since about lv 28-29.

I'm starting to think that I've messed up my bowman. At level 21 my damage range is just too broad. I can be doing anywhere from a 15 normal to a 225 crit.

And even still, it seems kinda low for a level 21 bowman.

I have critical maxed, Eye of the Amazon is at 7 and Blessing at 4. (IIRC) Double shot is at 2 and Arrow blow at 1. (I'm leveling DS)

Well, that 13 luk screwed you up alittle, or alot. You should have 4, so that is 9 points that should be a couple points on str and the rest on dex.

I got my warrior to level 15, there is a level 27 out there, jeez, and I am so low on meso I can't buy all of my equiptment.

More LUK = less EXP when you die. That's why thieves only lose 5% or so.

Well there's no right or wrong way to do your stats really. There's just a standard guideline to the way you should do it.

Musicman, if you're stats become too much of a hassle on your character, just restart. You're still in the "newb-ish" zone so you won't waste TOO much time.

EDIT: Plus, you probably know where to train for each lvl anyway. You'll gain time on your new character.

I saw someone doing that in Henesys. They jumped really high and then came slowly down the screen. Their excuse was that a GM said they could. :)

Because of that i haven't been able to play MS for a week!
The "hacking treat" is my virus scanner (Bit Defender), and something else.

It's annoying when I get accused of hacking when I use a glitch in the game. Just outside of Henesys there is a bench which you can sit on. If you wait for awhile snails will come along and attack you. They knock you off the bench, but you're still sitting so it looks like you're sitting on air. I'm not gonna spend $40+ US to change a 9 LUK stats to DEX, though. Then again, I usually put about $5-10 in every month when I have extra. It'll most likely take a looong time with AP reset scrolls this way but I can fix it. :P

The main problem isn't that it hasn't been built correctly, just that once I realized I wasn't building it correctly there was 9 more LUK than there should've been. In that case you might say it was built wrong at the start, because it was. <_<

However, I've heard perfectly built bowman also having like 10-120 dmg ranges, so it's not THAT bad. The main problem however is the fact is once I get to level 30, 40, 50, etc. I'm going to be significantly weaker than most, and that gap is going to widen at every level.

Final attack for an archer sucks. Think of iron-arrowing or arrow bombing a mob. Final attack kicks in and only hits one. Look you just got mobbed. It'll even kill you at boss/later monsters.

However, every warrior, unless you're a hybrid spearman, gets final attack.
They usually do it in this order.
Fighter:
Mastery -> 19
Rage -> Maxed
Final attack -> Maxed
Power guard -> Maxed

Pages:
Mastery -> 19
Final attack -> Maxed
Threaten -> Maxed
Power guard -> Maxed

Final Attack is a skill that's more flashy than useful. Although it is still kind of useful. It reduces your MP consumption by 50% if you use it right. Also, you can spin (if you're not a spearman) and wow the noobs. =P However, some enemies will render Final Attack quite useless. Take, for example, the Yeti. If you hit it with a normal Power Strike and the Yeti proceeds to slam you in the face, then you'd better hope a Final Attack doesn't come next so you can jump out of the way. However, if it does come, then there's no choice but to take the Yeti's 500 damage.

Archer's Final Attack is altogether useless no matter what though.

x_x Had my first ever death today.

Level 24, last stage on the PQ, and because we had a weak party I went down to try to take on death eyes. My HP gets low so I try to get up the ladder and fiddle around for a high-HP healing item, get knocked off the ladder and died. x_x

One member had already dropped out before, so I couldn't revive until they got through or else we'd fail the PQ. Another player died and the leader had to solo the king slime.

Out of all the successful PQs I've had, this was definately the longest and worst.

Fortunatley for me, my extra LUK, which shall be reset to DEX slowly as I get money, cushioned the EXP loss.

I gained alot of % thanks to him. n.n It was pretty cool to cuz you could make Orange Mushroom float and he could controll monsters. There are weak adorable creatures on the surface, but once you go down to the "dungeon", there are menacing monsters beyond imagination that will lead you to question Maple Story's cute appearance. Well I can say it wont disapoint you. Ludi has alot of quests, the monsters give around the same amout of EXP (the most even more) as Fire Boars but they come with bigger groups. I think they have less HP then Fire Boars and the mesos drop is around the same, a little bit less maybe. And Mana Elixers are somewhat cheaper there which I think is awesome since im always broke. Also Ludi PQ is fun and gives you alot of EXP. For now I think Ludi is the perfect place to train.

Heheheh. Thats why im in Windia. Scania may be lively and active like a big city but Windia is more like a village where you see common faces once in a while. Noob population is limited and training areas are moslty free. Oh yea btw me and a friend of mines are cutting down the the lagg in the Free Market Ch. 1 by both mass defaming people with stores. Sometimes my guild the KoolKidsKrew helps us out and I can say we scared away some good 20 people by now. By doing this everyday Windia will even become more peaceful and quiet. :D

OMFG I'm so pissed...

So, I was checking out Ludi with a couple of friends and guildmates on Bera, and we're all hanging out at the pharmacy and such. Suddenly, one of my friends megaphones...

THIEF SHIELD LV26 (inster uber stats here) WHISPER MOOFEY!

God, I could've killed him. Next thing I know I get a flood of whispers and invites for a shield that doesn't even exist.... even my guild leader was like "WTF YOU HAVE A SHIELD?!"

I spent the next hour telling everyone that whispered me that it was a joke and that I didn't have a shield. I am so freaking lucky I didn't get defamed at all. I wish I didn't use my fame up already.

xD I've done various microphones calling my guild leader Chris a hacker and if everyone could please report him. He get's pissed so I have to spend an extra 30 cents saying "KIDDING PEOPLE, JEEZ."
