Playing LittleBigPlanet a lot lately. Making a level for ****s, I don't really have any set ideas on what I'm doing but I've managed to:

• Make a waterfall, complete with a splashing water effect and a rickety bridge that goes past/over it, and a cliff with a tunnel you can move through to get to...
  
• a forest-like area, with a tree you can climb to reach a treehouse that has a couch in it.
  
• Create a day/night cycle using a piston with some key sensors on it. As the piston moves back and forth, the key sensors touch the global lighting switches that are placed at both ends of the piston and one in the middle. These three switches are, in order of left to right (the piston moves horizontally) one for morning, one for dawn/dusk, and one for night. The piston and key sensors moving left to right across these, and back, gives the level the impression of a day/night cycle.

How was it not good? It's something that hasn't really been done properly in video games, and it definitely had a unique art style and fairly legit story line. It's different, linearity doesn't really bother me when the gameplay is so fun..! Every game in the world is linear, just to different extents.

Just tried out the Burnout Paradise trial.

Have to admit, it's a thrill to drive around the town as fast as you can, and the jumps and tricks are really cinematic. But I dunno. Seems like stuff that gets old fast.

Battlefields 1943 is ridiculously fun. Most fun I've had on a console shooter in a long time, and I've played Orange Box. And I'm good at it to, one match got 21 kills and about 600 points in total, when the average is about 10 kills and 200 points.

Red Faction Guerrilla. Fun game but the difficulty level jumps up ever time you go to a new area. I would prefer it if I was into harder situations slowly, instead of going from easy to anal rape in 5 seconds.

the wandering dungeon in Star Ocean 4 is ridiculous, what could be more fun than the hardest dungeon in the game that has no save points, atleast 20 floors to it, no way of recording your progress (ie you leave you have to restart) topped off with a boss battle that can supposedly wipe your party out in minutes completely negating your 4 hour trek to get to it. Did i mention there were no save points?

Me and my friend Dan were hiding in a bunker trying to capture a flag, and an enemy scout just casually walks in, sword above his head and stabs Dan to the ground and walks out again. That does sound pretty weak.
So far the whole 'secret achievements in a boss fight' is the only thing annoying me about Vesperia. I mean, it seems like a silly thing to include as you're unlikely to know exactly what you need to do to unlock it in the boss fight. It's not a real problem unless you're an achievement nut though. I'm not too desperate to repeat a fight just for an achievement.

To put it into perspective, Eternal Sonata, which is barely a year old, was £40 on release, and is now £5 on amazon. Star Ocean whatever it is was released only a few weeks/months ago at £40 and its £17 on Amazon now.

Although I'm kinda out of single players atm so I need something to occupy my console needs.

Also, ****s sake, I was having fun playing Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood and suddenly YAY 360 CRASHES AGAIN BECAUSE ITS AN ANTI SEMITE.

Though from what I've played, CoJ:BiB is pretty fun. The cover system is pretty cool because instead of just being either out of or behind cover, you can poke out just enough to see an enemy, shoot him and retreat back.

Although, one thing I do have to complain about is the whole scripted event thing. 5 times, no joke, I've had to "defend this point for X amount of time" and it's only the first level. They tried adding variation with Gatling guns, which worked alright, but then with a cannon? Come on.

Other than the scripted events, it's really fun to play. The slow-down mode is a lot of fun to use, if very easy to charge up, the guns feel solid when you shoot them and its easy to die. Yes, its difficult which is a good thing. One part of the mission had me hunting out sharpshooters in a forest and 2 shots will kill you. You have to constantly dive behind trees to avoid getting shot and even then they'll shoot body parts of you that are poking out. Very good game so far, and it can only get better with a free-roam later on.

Morrowind has confused the **** out of me. Went into this cave near the starting village, starting hacking at a bandit with a sword for a while. Couldn't figure out what block was, and although I was repeatedly hitting this person with a sword, there was nothing to suggest their health was going down, so I ran out before getting killed.

So I'm installing Bloodmoon and Morrowind Graphics Extender while Galactic Battlegrounds installs.

My character is a Redguard Halberdier (custom class lolol) and I dont know if yuo can tell by the name, but he specialises in spears and halberds.

Also, lol, It's pure coincidence that I chose a black guy to have specialisation in spears haha.


Right, after playing for a while this is what I ahve to say:

The setting is far, far more interesting than Oblivions. Vivec is the coolest ****ing city ever in a game.

The interface, I feel, isn't as good as Oblivions. While it's easier to organise things, armour in general is just not as good as Oblivions. Pauldrons are all very nice, but having to buy left and right gloves and pauldrons seperately is weird.

I've not really used the magic system yet, only to heal and I failed 3 times, which is weird.

Combat doesn't feel as smooth as Oblivions, power attacks are omitted and you cant block without a shield, which seems odd.

It just doesn't feel as immersive as Oblivion. While the setting is awesome and much more interesting than Cyrodiil, I just cant 'get into the game' as I did with Oblivion, so I'll be downloading Morroblivion to get the best of both worlds.

You probably figured this out already but you need a shield to block in Morrowind, and your character will block automatically. How often he successfully blocks is dependent on his block skill.

And you can't see the enemy's health.

EDIT: Lol editted post. Power attacks are in Morrowind. It's the same as Oblivion, you just have to hold down the mouse button for a little longer then let go.

Currently playing Kingdom Hearts (FINALLY) on my PC. It's really not too bad to be honest. When I can get 8x AA without dropping to 30FPS, it looks fantastic. Most of the time, though, I'm stuck with 2x or 4x AA. Bilinear Filtering is an absolute must though. It makes my eyes bleed without it.

First off DMC3 had a weapon selection that was out of this world. The combat was much more in depth. Trickster got nerfed to all hell, and I never used Royal Guard and hardly ever used Gunslinger.

I'm getting an appreciation of Vesperia that's not too dissimilar to that which I held for Symphonia. I've got that 'wanna play it all the time' mentality. I even managed to get one of the secret mission achievements, though it was so obvious what you needed to do that I would have struggled not to ge it.

Got a little bored of Oblivion, but I'm still feeling like doing some sandbox loving so I'm playing Fallout 3 and trying to stay neutral, mostly so I can have Impartial Mediation cause that's awesome. It's not quite as easy to do as it should be in a way that makes sense.

I'm trying to just act like a mercenary towards people (doing stuff for the money), which kinda works but early on in the game it's hard to take a neutral stance towards everything. It's like even as a neutral character, you won't want to destroy and kill everything (blowing up Megaton) but you aren't really doing it out of the good of your heart. But when you DON'T kill and destroy shit the game treats it like you're being a good guy.

So I balance out my apparent good deeds but stealing anything that isn't nailed down. I get negative karma and free stuff for doing so, so win-win I guess. Currently have a karma level of Mercenary lol

With the megaton thing, do the speech challenge to get paid more for disarming the bomb which neutralises the good karma you get.
