I just got the game (Path of Radiance), sadly enough (I only got a GC for my birthday last month), but I like it. The other games in the series I adore are FE 4, 6, 7, and 8.

Marth is in 1 and 3, and Roy is only in 6. ^^ A shame it wasn't translated officially, though. (Though roms work wonders. XD)

FE 6, The Sword of Seals, was indeed FE 7's sequel. :angry: You can tell for a fact who Eliwood, Hector, Rath, Nino, Pent/Louise, Rebecca, Farina, and Bartre/Karla's kids are; it makes things interesting.

Even more so is the fact that Rebecca's child, Wolt, looks like Wil... even though she can marry Lowen. Plus, there's no evidence that says that Raven couldn't be the father, either. XD

Lyndis seems to have vanished from the equation, though Sue, Rath's daughter, shares an uncanny resemblence. :3

Ah, that sucks. Lyn was one of my favorite characters of any game. She deserved to be in any sequel that there would be.

As for E3, I don't see much of a chance now to see any idea of FE6 coming to North America. The GBA is fading slowly to the background of gaming, and I don't think they will be translating this game to the DS.

Online FE would be great. I'd prefer them to use proper maps rather than the collisuem (that was spelt wrong wasn't it?) for multiplayer. It just seemed small and dull compared to the rest.

Anyway... would you like a new Fire Emblem to be linked to any of the previous games? I'd like a sequel, or prequel, to Path of Radience. In the game they always talk about the events that happened before. Surely they could make a prequel from that!

I was kind of underwhelmed by the whole mercenary aspect of PoR. I actually enjoyed FE7 more because you get involved more with Eliwood and Lyn as characters. I guess I just never got that connected with Ike.

But if there was a sequel or prequel to FE9, I would probably buy it.

I think if FE7 had been on the Gamecube, I would have liked it more. Surprisingly, the thing I got sick of in that game is the repetitive stabbing noises everytime someone would fail in their quest to bring down your party. The squelching noise just got on my nerves.

Because of the storyline, they took out Mercenaries -> Heroes becuse of the confusion with the story line. An Online FE should have the traditional FE7 classes plus Lagus/Mamkutes.

My main gripe with Path of Radiance was that among the unlockables and extras, there was no Support Room, which severly detracted from the game's replay value (at least for me).

An online Fire Emblem game (or Advance Wars) has such amazing potential for Nintendo. Alas, E3 remains so close, yet so far...

You know, they could make it something like an MMORPG, where you go around to different towns and areas with different landscapes so that when you challenge people to a strategy battle with your party, the battle field is always different (and sometimes challenging). He appears to be the main character. I can picture it: Thief -> Thief Lord. He appears to have found his friend that he was looking for - a thunder mage resembling Ilyana (but I'm pretty sure she isn't). (I'm gonna level him to 20 later on just incase I'll need him then.) This title is for Wii and apparently, IS has granted our request and given another chance at the FMV system.

Fire Emblems 1 - 6 were Japan Only. I currently have 6, 7, 8, and 9. If I get the Wii, I'll shark around for 1 - 5 for downloads if possible. I might also get the ROM for sprite purposes. Let's not get into depth of ROMs, though. FE 10 is really something, I have that on my list.

It's interesting that you mention that. There was a Fire Emblem game that was a "sidestory", or Gaiden, to the predecessor; the protagonists were in fact secondary characters in the first game. I'll try to find specifics, but I believe it was the game that comprised five major maps/chapters.

I'll have more concrete information soon.

If Sothe were to be the main character...I wouldn't like that fact. There's two reasons I don't like Sothe:

1) I just didn't like him. He just never appealed to me and Volke was the only thief that was worth using.
2) He doesn't promote. That definitely wouldn't be the case if He were the main character in (presumably) Tellius in FEX, but it still made him absolutely useless in FEIX.

Ive bought PoR today and its AWESOME. I love the cutscenes. Still I cant understand a damn from what the Black Knight is saying in the cutscenes... O_O; And the battles arent really flexable as they where on the GBA. They are a lil but like Pokemon Stadium/Colloseum.

In my opinion, Path of Radiance was easier compared to Sacred Stones. I don't know why, it just seems like it. Also, with Sacred Stones, I have the worst luck with hit rates. I miss an enemy with my 96% hit rate, but he hits me with a 14%. It's weird.

Sacred Stones' system is more sensitive than other Fire Emblems. You can hit with as much as 10% and can miss with as much as 90+ percent. As long as there is a chance to miss, there really is a chance to miss.

Yeah but the Sacred Stones is my favorite FE game. Ive played 6, 7 and Im playing PoR rite at the moment. I really liked the rookie characters like Ross and Amelia. And Epraim was the first lance user I really liked.

That's the main problem with Fire Emblem. When a character dies, you pretty much have to start over unless you're feeling really lucky. It does make the game more difficult, but on harder chapters, it's downright annoying.

Also I think PoR is daaaaym hard. Dude im playing Easy mode and I already lost more units then I ever did on any other FE game. And I figured out that thieves cant promote without a Master seal... Yay I sold them both earlier in the game because I like to forge all ****ed up weapons. No assassin for me I guess... B) And if I happen to make a good one the character cant equip it cuz they dont got enough mastery. Why the hell goes this so damn SLOW!? O_O

There's more depth in PoR than any other FE game, I'll give you that. But the cut-scenes make it more graphically pleasing as well. I really enjoyed the final scenes and being able to play them back.

I lost 3 units throughout the whole game.

Eirika's route isn't too difficult. It wasn't that long before I met up with Ephraim again.

And when I played PoR I only lost 2 units.

I've played 7 before. It was the first one I played, my friend owns it, and he let me play it for a while. He doesn't have a GC, so he's begging me to get PoR. I always went with Eirika's route, it seems easier, and you can get a rouge on that route easier than on Ephraims route. You also get a few more rare items.

I think it's 25, when you're in the prince's manse. I did it before and I know how I do it but when I get near to the end I always end up placing someone to near to Ursula, so she can bolt them. To be honest I did want to do SS again anyway to get Ephraim's route. I'll come back to 7 later.

Well, just don't go down the left side and you'll be fine.

If you want Jaffar, and you have Nino, send a small pack of your best units down the left path and have Nino talk to Jaffar. He'll still be a green unit, but at the end of the chapter he will be yours. On the right path, just fight through the units. That's what I did and it worked out.

Those are authentic. In the game database were sprites for every single character that made even a slight appearance. It's just that soem weren't used. Take a look at Lord Renning's sprite.

Weeeeeeeeell... Sothe couldn't promote, he was looking for someone and after Path of Radiance he returned back to Daein together with Ilyana (sp??) so its very likely that FE10 will stare them both.

Anyways I beated PoR yesterday. Poor Ashnard, I killed him in two turns. Aether really rocks! :P

Sorry to make my little assumption sound ambiguous. I did a sprite match and just as the Sothe sprites matched, Bertram's sprite matched Lord Renning's sprite. That could mean one of two things. Bertram IS a corrupted Renning, or that Rennign was used as Bertram's base sprite.

...I am forgetting, does Bertram have a regular Paladin sprite or has he a unique hemlet?

Not that I'm taking sides or anything, but I recall Soren describing Bertram to rise into the Four Riders just after Crimea's fall, when Renning was "killed". Also, their sprites have a pose that is similar, as with a rapier-type sword that is also pretty much similar.

It's during Chapter 26, I beleive. At the beginning of the chapter, Soren is analyzing the enemy and gives Ike background info about Bertram. So yeah, part of the storyline. Sorry for the confusiin, it has nothign to do with Sothe, it's a comparison that ED made with the sprite look-alike-ness.

I watched a movie on Google video a while back. Some guy recorded a hacked game and was able to use Greil weilding his faithful axe, Urvan.

The weapon designs are like those fit for a king. Alondite and Ragnell are very finely crafted. Ashnard's sword is cruel, though, if you think about it.

It wouldn't work for me at first but you just have to be patient, and lucky.
I don't think it has anything to do with Mist. I had her at about level 5, unpromoted, and I still won.

Aether activates as Ike's skill as a percent. He should have about 25+ skill, meaning 1 in every 4 attacks should be Aether. If Ike's skill is low, it might activate as much as 1 in every 10 attacks. Make sure Ike's skill is at a decent point before facing BK.

Thats the problem. His strenght, skill AND speed are all maxed and defence is around 22 and Ike has 50 HP. However my Ike's sword mastery is still at level A. Perhaps I should train him till he has lv S mastery?

Weapon level only determines Which weapons he's able to wield. I guess it's just luck, then. FE sometimes feels like it's being controlled by karma...

Yeah I know... This especially sucks because the last time I beated PoR I defeated the Black Knight in 3 attacks. It was like, Ike attacks and uses Aether, Black Knight attacks. Ike attacks, Black Knight attacks, Mist Heals. Black Knight attacks, Aether then killed the Black Knight... It all happend in less then 2 minutes... :P

EDIT: YES YES YES YES YES YES! I ****ING BEATED THE... ****ER!! XD Whoa thats a relief. Although I needed to kill all unites in the prev chapter with only Ike and Soren its atleast all worth it. :D

Soren is one of the best characters in the game. My best characters in PoR are Ike, Oscar, and Soren. Those three alone could clear any map by themselves. n.n

My brother squashed Black Knight again. That was so crazy. Ike unleashed Aether once the first turn, so it wasn't too bad. Next turn was an exchange of normal blows. The turn after that, Ike made a normal attack and got hit by a Luna. My brother didn't heal Ike. Black Knight Luna'd again. Thank God Ike had Miracle. It chopped the damage in HALF. Ike Aethered and kileld BK. You got it.

Exactly what I mentioned before. Fire Emblem, at the earliest, would be released in late 2007, and that's not even considering the fact that it takes a long time to translate the text. For Path of Radiance, that process took an entire year and a half before it was released outside of Japan.

It's always hard for a game as text-heavy as FE to get translated. When you include cut-scenes that have to be reworked as well, it becomes an excruciating amount of work. I wouldn't doubt it would take even a large team a year and a half to translate that text.

For FE9... I haven't played the English version yet =D But I've heard it's overall fine. My cousin's comment was that it beat any translations you see on TV.

The name changes for Senerio and Elaice were the hardest on me though. When I learned of it, I was like, "WHAT?!" Occasionally, though, I find the "mainstream" names to be less mainstream (I can't seem to find my name book right now though...).

Fire Emblem is one of my favorite series. I have all three american FE games and I'm looking forward to the one coming out on the Wii. Fe 8 is my favorite because you have something to do after you beat the game. I should be done by the end of next week.

It's very painful when suddenly, all goes wrong and the enemy you were suppsoed to kill to stop from killing, say, Rhys or Mist was spared due to Oscar's miss with a Silver Lance...

It's more annoying when you've reached the boss of a chapter, thinking that your weak character is out of range. Then you realise that the boss has a bow or hand axe and your in range. I always forget to check the enemies weaponry. :P

The "old ones"? There is a Fire Emblem game in development for Wii, but I was under the impression that it was a sequel to Path of Radiance and not a remake.

Actually, it's just a rumor for now. The Wii might have some sort of backwards compatibility with the past FE's via Virtual Console.

In my collection, I have all the localized ones (7, 8, 9) and I have 4 and 6 both fan translated.

Ahh, I see. The Virtual Console, I hadn't considered that. However, Nintendo would have to go through the process of translating the games, which again takes a considerable amount of time (though probably less so for SNES games).

I also have 7, 8, and 9, but I've never played a fan-translated version, I've always wanted to play 6. :smile:

I have a question; is FE6 ever going to be released outside of Japan? I had thought that it was planned, and it would make sense considering Roy's popularity from Melee, and it being a direct sequel to the game that was first introduced into the West (Fire Emblem 7).

Yes, as the game's Jeigen (or however that's spelled), you shouldn't use her in the early chapters in the game, because she obviously draws experience. However, later in the game, when your characters are promoted and catch up to Titania in level, then she fits in easily with your units.

Titania is balanced, with a slight emphasis on speed. I've used her, and she's been solid for me, if slightly weak defense-wise, but her speed makes up for it.

"A lot of people bash Titania because of her low base stats and fail to see
that her growth rates are exceptional. Her presence is a blessing in the
first few chapters, as she'll be, without fail, your strongest unit.

At the beginning, Titania should be used as a utility unit. By that, I mean
bait for enemy units, as a shield for your army or to weaken bosses for your
weaker characters to kill. You should only permit Titania to get kills if it
is absolutely necessary, as she will steal experience from your unpromoted

As the oppisite and you said, I actully used her in the early chapter as a tank unit for others to gain experience points, and when the other units did catch up, I don't use her any more.

I did realize her growth rate though, but I don't pick my units judging on their actull potential. That's not my playing style.

FE9's supports have really more humour than love compared to others. I remember, in the GBA FE's, a lot of characters had endings with each other, getting married. The story was very deep for those. In FE4, since there's a book two story, you get to play as the children of the book one characters, given that you support them.

As of now, I'm addicted to FE4's battle theme. It's also FE6's arena theme. Fire Emblem's music is superb, with a very very nice array of music, but memorable reccurign themes. The arena battle themes are mostly battle themes from earlier games. FE7's is FE5's. Other songs are present throughout and it's more of a sentimental "classic" feel than a show of unoriginality. The end of Chapter 10 in Path of Radiance has a real nice arangement of "A Knights Oath", named "Vow" in this one. It sounds spectacular.

I never really bothered with support conversations. No idea why, but I never really concetrated too much on them.

Ike really surprised me once he promoted. Even without Ragnell, he could pretty much destroy any unit himself. Heck, in one of my playthroughs of that game,m I soloed chapter 29 with Ike only (until Ashnard, then I also used Tibarn). He's so powerful, it's almost cheap. n.n;;
Anywho, talking about Sacred Stones, I expected Ephraim to be better than Eirika during the first time through, and I was right. He's very powerful, but Ike's better in the end. =3

So as you can see, Eirika's got Skill, Speed and Luck going for her. She's decent enough, but I'd say she runs out of steam later on in the game. Ephraim's got decent growths, and he's got better strength, meaning he's gonna be dealing a good amount of damage. Ike's growths are average, yet he's extremely overpowered because of the way Path of Radiance works and because he has Ragnell and Aether. Hector has the greatest potential, due to his immense growths in strength, with Armads and Wolf Beil to bolster him even further. Hector's defensive growths are really good, too, which make him a tank that can clear the battle field in a single turn if he is within enemy lines.

Side Note: Hector was the one that dealt the most damage against the Fire Dragon.

Ike's growths are pretty good the way I see it. His Resistance growth is pretty good as far as melee characters go. Which Fire emblem game is Hector from, anyways?

Who's do you think is the best Mage you've seen? In my opinion, it's Soren. He maxes out at 30 Magic, his Skill and Speed exceed 25, and once he's a Sage, he wreaks havoc even with low powered tomes.
