Luna didn't make THAT much of a difference either. +80 HP is still +80 HP, and you're risking getting killed (Luna weighs a ton) from it. But hey, what could it hurt.

Ya, I especially hate it when they rate the game good on sites, then you go buy it and it sucks. I really dont go by ratings anymore, I watch clips and stuff, if there is no walking in any of the movie clips I will not buy unless i try it myself and find it fun or if you can really walk around.

True about Canas, very true.

Lilina's speed was higher than expected, I was hoping for 16, or 17, and I got 20 (potentially 21, I can still level up against Mamkoot's in the Final Chapter).

I'll level Sophia up in the Final Chapter as well, and see how she turns out. I'm expecting GREAT things from her.

It is slow for a promoted unit. Most people expect Lilina to be that slow. (I checked her average stats = average speed is 17 x_X;;;, Luck is 24 =P). Twenty isn't to bad. . . and she actually does damage (unlike Lugh).

I've been playing Monshou no Nazo. (The third). What do you think about Marth? With the Fire Emblem, I think his stat growths grows, as he's gotten better. He's a beast. Kind of annoying that only Marth can go into villages.

Four was the best. Nothing else.

Five, I'd save for last. It annoys me to death, the only FE I don't like to much.

One thing - have you been playing FE1 on NES, or FE3, Book 1? They're slightly different.

Hurrah for fire emblem. I finally got the ROM (sadly, I don't have the legitimate game. Stupid Kmart doesn't sell it here), and I really like it. Im only about 20 min's into the game (just after Lyn get's the minna..mini... that special sword, and the gameplay seems great, easy and alround brilliant. Im a little disappointed that you dont actually use yourself..er.. your character, but it's different and something easily gotten used to.

There are 33 Chapters in the game if you play none of the sidequests and play Hector's Story.

You should really focus on leveling your charters first, for example get a stronger person to weaken a foe then send a weak charecter to finish him off :wub: a strategy that always works.

Ive found that Sticking an Archer behind say, a Cavalier is good. weaken with archer (No counter attack), then finish off with the Cavalier.

I just keep losing it at the end. Like someone sneaks up and kills a unit. Gah. I'll get it one day. lol

Yes, the Mani Katti does break. Save it for when you need it. Like that chapter. What I do, is after getting Dorcas, I send Lyn after the boss. Once I kill the boss, that ends the chapter (but usually Lyn's about level 10 for me by then. . . .)

I always have a smaller group then they give you because, you get less experience with more people and more people means more maintenance and more money spent also...

Besides, there are only a handful of useful units anyways...

I whole heartedly agree with IZ2. I'd rather take about 10-15 units than 20-25; it gets way too confusing, and in the end, you're only going to need about 10 characters that are fully leveled up anyways, so why waste your time and EXP with an additional 15 or so?

Yes, that's true. In easier modes where they let you take 15 or so units, you'd probably need no more than ten. . . and by the end of the game, you'd be only taking your elites. Really, one elite unit of yours could/should be able to take out 10 or so "elite's" of the enemy.

Not really. Assuming that you are forced to bring your three Lords (which is often), that's only giving you a choice of three other people. And they'll be other chapter's where other units you never use/will use (Genesis, anyone?) will be forced to accompany you. Then again, in harder mode's, they'll force you to cut down majorly on units (Hector Hard mode gives you eight/nine, some side quests, six). So, basically, pick who you will use ahead of time, perhaps.

Oh, in Hector's Story, on the chapter after you defeat Denning (31x? I'm not to sure), she'll be standing on the Arena. Take Bartre to her, equipped with a bow, and talk to her. They'll fight. You have to have both Bartre AND Karla survive the battle. If either dies, you don't get her.

Well, if he's level 5, you can try to risk equipping him with an axe against her for a real fight. Mine was 20/20, so I equipped him with an Iron Bow, so he couldn't fight back.

Well, in Lyn's story: If a non-hero unit dies here, it will come back in Eliwood's story.
Eliwood's/Hector's story: If a non-hero unit dies here, it will be gone forever.

Yeah i always tried to conserve all my characters cos you never know when you might need them. I always had to be careful about enemies that i THOUGHT would have say a lance, and turned out to have a sword (ths my axemen would be in trouble). I hated it when i sometimes forgot to check and lost a character. I would force myself to restart.

My Farina was the worst of the three. Fiora was the best, but Florina was close and higher in luck...

BATTLE FORMULA'S!!!! (MAJOR THANKS TO ECW)

Should we want to fight each other with our units, here's how it goes!

The three main things we need are Damage, Hit, and Critical. There are several steps to get this.

TO GET HIT:

HIT % = Weapon Accuracy + Skill x 2 + 1/2 Luck - Evade.

Evade = Skill x2 + luck.

To get DMG:

DMG = Str + Mt - Def.

Critical = 1/2 Speed + Luck + Weapon Boost (if any) + Class boost (if any) - Enemy Crit Defense.

Enemy Crit Defense = Luck.

RNG SITE, VERY IMPORTANT

RNG determines hit or miss. If the number rolled is less than the number you have for it, it is a hit. So, if you have a 50% hit chance, and you roll a 49, you hit. If you roll a 51, you miss.

Now, for other things. I'm sure you know the weapons triangle. If you have a weapons triangle advantage, you add +2 to attack and +10 to Accuracy.

ACC = Weapon Accuracy + Skill x 2 + 1/2 Luck

So just add ten to that total.

Atk = Str + MT. You add two to that total.

Con = If a weapon is heavier than your con, then your speed will be lowered.

CON - WT = Speed Reduction.

When a weapon is effective against a class, it is

First Tier = 2(Str)-Def.
Second tier = 2.5(Str)-Def.

That's all you need to know!

Well, first you should know where all the morphs spawns up. Then, place a unit who is good against each of them at each spawn-place. Swordmens for Brendan etc.

Well, bring someone with a legendary weapon to attack the dragon. (Eliwood with Durandal, Lyn with Sol Katti or Hector with Armads) Now, after your unit have attacked let someone rescue him/her and run back outside of the Fire Dragon's range. Now, let Nils play for the unit that rescued Eliwood, Lyn or Hector. After Nils have played for the rider, let the rider drop the unit it carried. Have a healer heal your lord that just attacked the dragon. Now, just repeat this technique a few times and the Fire Dragon will be dead soon.

Sol Katti dosen't work on the Dragon. I checked, and even if I criticaled the dragon with Lyn - Lv 18/20 Blade Lord [Sol Katti] - I still got nuthin.

My Lyn did 13 without critical. . . . (she had support backup, but still).

You can, if you feel cheap, equip Athos with Luna, and use Thor's Ire to increase his critical, and kill the dragon in one hit.

I re-started FE for the sole reason of leveling Rath right up (favourite unit) at the beginning. You, uh... DO get him back though don't you? I havent gotten very far in FE in the first place...

I'm temporarily dropping FE3. I want to finish FE5. It's very hard, and it's been pushing me to the limit more than once. . .

There are 4 types of chapters. . .

1: "Let's go conquer the castle!" (Self-explanitory)
2: "RUN FOR YOU LIFE1111!!!!" (Escape from the enemy. Leaf has to be last)
3: "We are here, they are coming, and they can't get in." (Defend)
4: "You can see me, but I can't see [most of] you? That's not fair." (Night)
5: "We are over here, they are coming, and we have to block AND run at the same time? O_O;;;" (Defend a castle, but you have to escape into it)

Defense is the easiest. . . running is definately the most difficult. And there is a lot of them.

I kinda need help though. I'm stuck on chapter 8 ( I only got it yesterday, dont expect miracles!!!), and Erk and Dorcas always seem to die. Then I get the sword that reverses the weapon triangle for lyn, and she gets butchered! Florina died in chapter 3, and i need a strategy!! Also, do dead people like my Florina come back to life at any stage? I really need help.....

Yep, I did it. The fog level is pretty hard, as Sain and kent always stayed at the back and got chased by the bandits that come out of the mountain forts. I used Florina as a scout, and walace up front, a killing machine. I also did the last level of Lyns story, with all the characters folowing wallace. I love this game!! * hugs*

I always send hector, marcus and oswin upfront to defeat the enemies, but after they are all defeated ( which takes a lot of turns), loads of enemies cime out where Eliwoods starting point is, and all my people die, because they are sucky. What shall I do???

Take up a different Strategy dude. I can't say what to do exactly becau I myself do not know. Namely because I don't know what you do in chapter 15. Sure; Im up to 22, but I can't remember what you do.

Let Oswin and another strong unit stay behind. One of them needs a horse slayer. Let another strong unit(like Hector) lure the archers into your own range. The rest is quite easy.

My favourite unit is Hector, level 20 Great Lord on Chapter 29. He is invincible, no enemy can hurt him. A Sage attacked him with Elfire once and only did 6! My other two are Guy and Lyn, my two most fastest sword people.

I find Rath almost better than Rebecca. He turned out VERY good for me. And no, his skills with the sword is not limited to the Iron Sword. You train him with the Iron Sword and then he can use other swords.

That having been said, I have not posted here in a long time, as I haven't been playing Fire Emblem often. However, since the recent talk is of a comparison between Rebecca and Rath, I'll start there.

Rath is, of course, a mounted unit, and when promoted, he will gain the ability to use swords. He isn't too effective with one, as CBK stated, but Rath does have a pretty high critical hit ratio; give him a Short Bow, and you will see.

Rebecca I prefer, as she has pretty high agility, and is an excellent Sniper. You'll have other mounted units with Rath, but Rebecca, in my opinion, is the best bow user, followed by Lyn (when promoted).

On the topic of Rath VS Rebecca. . .

Rebecca is the game's best foot archer. It's as simple as that. Rath does have the sword advantadge, but most don't refine it. At best, getting him to Level C so he can use Killing Edges would make him more effective. But, Rath can only support with three people, Rebecca, much more, making her better when paired with someone (Nino =]). That's just my opinion, I think Becca's better.

I've beaten Fire Emblem: The Sealed Sword with that crappy ending! My first run was bad (I lost a lot of characters). I'm playing the game over again so I can get all the divine weapons, gaiden chapters, characters, and the real ending.

I'm glad so many have played the other Fire Emblem games on here. FE 6 is now playable in English through a rom patch that the FESS forums have made. I won't link to roms though seeing as that is illegal for message boards.

I only start the chapter over if I lost a character of great importance that I feel the need to defy the laws of life itself, or if I feel the need to achieve an S rank on all categories.

That's your opinion. Unless you want to play FE fully, you're going to need all the help you can get, whether one character's priceless or not. A wise man said, "Fools rush in whilst angels fear to dread." In other words, an unprepared fool is most likely to die a quicker death. 'Sides, those weaker characters are good for storage of weapons if Merlinus is full. :D

The only problem I see coming with FE8 is that you can just go out and battle monsters between chapters to build them up. To me, this is just mercy for n00bs that forget to level their lords because they're so weak in the beginning.

We may be cheering that we've gotten Fire Emblem here now, but I'll bet the Japanese are complaining that this line of games, which is supposed to be very hard, is getting easier and easier by the game.

It shouldn't matter. In the extra chapter, I get Ephraim to level 15, and get Eirik to level 16 by the end of the first group of chapters, it's not to hard to level.

And Souen no Kiseki's gonna have a Extra hard mode. That should make everyone happy.

Yeah. It's an average length Fire Emblem, FE1 topped at 20 chapters, Thracia at 25. There's an extra chapter in Seima, so I guess 24. (Rekka had that tutorial to make it seem longer)

My first playthrough in Fire Emblem games is always to continue no matter what fate has inflicted on you. I'm sorry I gave the impression that I ALWAYS play without starting over when I loose a character.

I've played and seen many things in Blazing Sword so I think I'll know what it's like to completely beat the game some day (if I haven't already, although, chapter 19XX changed the way I thought about the game immensely. It feels like there is no end to the plot twists.)

Mania is harder than FE5. That's pretty crazy. I hope they let you pick 5 units for the average chapters, and give them all Killer weapons or something. Borderline impossible. =].

Easy mode should be a bit harder than Seima's, but not to much. Normal should be about as hard as Eliwood's Hard. Hard mode should be slightly harder than Hector's Hard mode, about Thracia difficulty, and Mania should just be 3 units vs 75. =] Just my opinion.

I'm looking for a good challenge and I don't believe mania mode will be anything beyond possible. Luck is part of the experience and tactics will still be a huge part as well. War isn't always that simple to get by.

Guy is way overrated. He's a poor Swordmaster, and though I'd hate to say it, I'd say Raven's better.

Wil also makes a poor Sniper, though I can admit he's an excellent Archer. His average speed is 6 below max, that's not a good thing. I'd go with Rebecca if you ask me.

Perhaps you should try adding Serra to your team as well. She's a better Bishop than Lucius, and maxes luck, speed and resistance very quickly, and her magic is impressive. Only downside is somewhat poor skill. . . But then you'll have two healers and a light magic user.
