The only thing Soren needs is strength, because in Path of Radiance, strength and the weight of a weapon can hinder performance. But yes, out of all the magic users I've seen, Soren is definitely among the most powerful.

And Nino from FE7, if you took the time and effort to really train her (she joins late in the game, and even then, you potentially already have two Anima magic users: Erk and Pent).

Nino is an Est archetype, much like Astrid. High growths, strong potential and comes late in the game.

Ilyana was pretty good, she having strength growths, meanign that she can handle the tomes' weight easily. Soren is basically a very good mage, too.

With Soren, it's simple; with most tomes, even if they aren't the most powerful, he'll be able to do insane damage with them. And the fact that he has great speed and the Adept skill means he'll be able to do more than enough damage to wipe his foes out.

Astrid is much easier to train compartively with Nino, because her skill (Paragon was it?) makes it very easy to train her, and Path of Radiance has the whole bonus experience thing to boot.

I've restarted Path of Radiance for another run on hard mode; this time, Random Stat Changes (as opposed to fixed, which I attempted last run through). I'm on chapter 7, and this time I plan on using Mia instead of Zihark, either Shinon or Rolf (I've never included them in my final line-up), and instead of Oscar, another Paladin (perhaps Geoffrey?)

Just for some nice changes.

Astrid was a joy to have when she was stronger because an extremely mobile archer is great to have. She was easy to train and I got her to a Paladin in almost no time.

I started playing through again to get characters like Oscar and Boyd more training instead of just casting them off like I did the first play-through.

I never really cast anyone off. If I neglect them early on in the game, I go beack to the easier battlefields, or the tower (I'm talking about FE:SS)to do some more training. I also try to get as many different types of units too. For instance, If I already have a Rogue, but I have theif ready to go up in rank, I'll make him an assasin, even if it's good to have two people who can pick locks and chests.

There are4 people that I will never cast of in PoR: Ike, Oscar, Titania, and soren. they are ALWAYS included in my lineups. Other than them, I've tried almost every single character except for: Ilyana, Brom, Kieran, and Astrid. Once I've used them, I've used every character in that game. =D

I always forget Soren is a he. I liked having Soren as my number one Mage, but I try to stay away from magic users just because they have less upsides in my style of play. I like to move fast and seperate my party, and if mages or sages become stranded, they have a harder time fending for themselves. I just don't like that.

But Soren doesn't have that problem. He seems to dodge attacks well on my file. He ends up killing them, anyway. He's never dies.

It depends on the person, but you'd want Might, which is the base power of the weapon itself, Crit is the critical boost it gives, a yes to this too. Hit is the percent it adds onto the chance for a hit. Weight is one you should decrease because it makes the weapon lighter, thus easier to use. If the weight is above your strength, then you'd subtract the difference from your cahracter's speed, making them slower.

Well, I know that. I just wanted an opinion. But I finally got some playing time (six hours straight ^_^ ), and it's awesome! The graphics and detail are amazing! FE9 is basically a toned down version of FE4. Same way to play, but it's limited compared to the latter.

FE4 originally had 5 types of magic - Wind, Fire, Thunder, Light and Dark. FE9 made it simpler and cut Dark out. It balances out the Weapon Triangle, seeing as there are three weapons (sword axe lance) plus a neutral one (bow).

Another change is that all units have STR and and MAG. This gives them a visible calculation of damage using magic weapons. The STR is now the factor that determiens the speed of the character based on how well he/she does with the weight of the weapon.

Which actually makes more sense, and adds a more physical reality to the characters.

And Mars Djinni, you make a good point about the Weapons triangle; don't forget that this also holds in FE9, with Wind, Fire, Thunder comprising a three-way system, and Light being neutral (just like bows for weapons).

Fire Emblem 4's base system was pretty nice. It remains active during battle, but units had to be inside to get what it had to offer. You could practically do whatever you could in FE9 minus the bonus experience and plus a whole lot more. You are able to deploy or withdraw any unit regardless of the occasion, for example.

But it's a blessing and a curse, like all things in this world. You have to guard it, 'cause just as you can sieze enemy bases, enemies can sieze yours. That's why you send a guard to keep it safe. He'll perch himself on the castle's battlements and challenge anyone who goes near the castle's gates.

About the bonus EXP, how do you get more? Is it by allowing members to escape first before Ike?

Yeah. Well, it differs per chapter. Some chapters you earn it by avoiding units, others by just completing the chapter fast. It's real worth it if you've lacked the time to train someone, especially an Est like Astrid (although it is a lot better if you train her properly, since her weapon levels will be going up too.

That can be rectified by using Arm Scrolls.

Also, as an interesting note for the Bonus Experience, later in the game you receive a unit (Tanith) who has the skill, Reinforcements. It calls up three Pegasus units (one of which is promoted) and can be Directed by Ike. Their quite useful as decoys, and any experience they would normally get from attacking/defeating enemies, goes into your pool of Bonus Experience.

The defense stat and growths takes care of choosing armour. Fire Emblems 4 and 9 had a build feature, where the armour type would be displayed. It would either be light, heavy, or scales, feathers, fur if dealing with demi-humans. I don't think it's needed.

What they really need to do, in my opinion, is to change the character's appearance after promoting (not just on the battlefield, I mean during story events and conversations and whatnot).

I just finished chapter 9 I think. I tried to upgrade Ike's status, but it didn't work with the master seal, same for Volke. I assume there's a special thingamabob for them? And is there any other kind of seals/crests besides the master seal?

All units automatically promote one level after level 20. The master seal is just there to promote them earlier. (Aside from Ike and Volke, that is)

But that's probably pathetic compared to most of you. :) Oh, and Ike's already at lvl 20, and since he can't upgrade, it's getting hard trying to decide if I should have him attack the tougher guys, or if I should send weaker units in to get more exp.

I certainly didn't find it as challenging as 7, as I could complete SS fairly easily.

In Fire Emblems 4 and 9, and partially 8, there are Skills you can get.

In FE8, Skills are like Pierce, Silence, Big shield. Special effects that occur because of one's class. Silence is an Assassin's skill, which enables a chance of a one-hit-kill, for example.

In FE 4 and 9, the skills are obtained via a scroll. There are a variety of skills that enhance the player's ability to fight and overall interaction in the game. Occult Scrolls give characters a chance to do a special attack or option that is more effective than regular skills. Blossom halves the rate you gain EXP, but double's growths. Gamble sacrifices half your hit for double critical. Provoke lets enemy units go for the unit that has Provoke given that the enemy has a choice of two or more of your units to attack.

Hmm, that's a good strategy. And by the way, I have counter, miracle, and Occult, and I don;t know who the bes people to give them to would be. I thought of giving occult to Boyd, since he's a warrior now, but I don't know what Cn means, and that's what determines it's effectiveness with him.

Colossus (Boyd's Occult) is useless. Boyd can do insane amounts of damage on his own. Cn is physical size of the unit. Determines who can carry him and who he can rescue. You only get 5 Occults, so you have to use them on the characters that suit your style. Use Miracle on Ike, it works just that, miracles. Sell Counter, you don't need it. It's useless as well.

I wouldn't recommend roar unless you choose your targets carefully (i.e. you immobilize one enemy unit so you concentrate your efforts on another).

I tend to hold my ground, and push forward, while having my weaker units deal with any of the enemy untis that go off of my path.

Classic Greek moving shield tactic. I fight like a swarm. All my units can either attack twice with powerful weapons or OHKO with immense strength and speed. Self-recovery and mobile healers-fighters are in the group also. From the tiny, clustered point, I start celaring out enemies like a flood.

Useful skills are Resolve, Wrath, Adept, Vantage, Guard, Renewal, Sol, Luna, Lethality, Aether, Cancel, and Canto.

Yeah, two of the guys that I usually bring into battle (Soren and Mia) Have vantage and Adept (duh). But they're also the only ones I've seen work. I haven't seen counter, or miracle work yet. But I guess I will eventually.

Miracle only works if you're pitted with the situation it calls for. Counter rarely works (percent chance = Skill/2), and it promotes low defenses so taht you can deal more damage using it.

So I should get rid of counter then. And Sothe is becomeing a pretty good fighter. He doesn't deal a lot of damage, but with his high HP and average defense, he can withstand quite a thrashing. B)

Oh, and you might want to remove Tempest on Boyd. It hidners more than it helps. Biorythms have a habit of being negative when you don't want them to be. Not that it has any profound effects, it just tweaks the RNG a little.

Yes, and yes because of his blossom. Even though he cant promote, his blossom allows him to have greatly increased stats when leveling up. So after 20 levels, his stats would be at a 40 level standard. He's only at level ten for me now, but he can take on a lot of damage. (34HP, 10 Defense).

Not quite.

Blossom exchanges EXP for higher growth rates. That means he'll be more liekly to max out hi stats only for the first tier. His maxes are still according to a thief's, not an assassins. Sothe is not able to achieve the stats of a 20-20 thief. He is only able to have a better chance at having his stats boosted on level up.

Exactly. All Blossom does is increase the chance of each stat being raised, not necessarily raising them. And because the limit are the stats of the thief, it will not really be worthwhile.

What I'm wondering is whether Sothe would have Blossom in Fire Emblem 10. It seems to me that it would be a pain to level, and since he's a thief, it's gonna be a lot harder, as he is exposed in every single battle of the game.

A thief/assassin as the game's "lord" is definitely novel, but somehow unusual, since the main character should rightfully have a unique, powerful class to himself. After seeing Ike's insane stats, I'd think it odd to have such a different main character in terms of stats.

But at any rate, I think they'll change that. I'm sure that when Sothe matures, he'll gain new abilities, and definitely will be able to promote.

And remember, that is if Sothe is even the main character. Yes, it's likely, but still speculation.

Well, the class names could change. It'd be the first lord that was based off of a thief, rather than a thief himself, then. Rogue to Thief Lord would be a lot better, linking with Sacred Stones' Thieves.

Sothe could be quite older too, you know. With FE, there's really no predicting what the plot or classes will be like until you actually play the game.

What I don't get, is why would Sothe be the main Character in FE10? But all I know is that it's going to be for the Wii.

And I choose to use Sothe because of his high chance of maxed out stats. Even if he's limited to a theifs low max stats, I still think it's worth it. He can almost survive three turns on the front line with continuous attacks. ;)

This is without including Blossom. So, with the skill, we can expect Skill and Speed to be maxed out at 20, Strength to reach 18/19, Magic 11/12, Defense 15/16, Resistance, 11/12... (just my estimates)

Not bad, I guess. He is average in all areas, with slightly higher skill and speed than most units.

Even so, he takes up more experience points than even Titania.

Well his hp is already at 35, so it's been growing too. And almost all of his stats go up each time, so I'd expect to see an overall growth of close to an estimated 15 points for each from the beginning stats. But your estimate seems promising to me as well. Anyway, why would he be the main character in FE10? I don;t see whay he would, he's not that much of an important character in FE8.....well, at least so far....(Chapter:19)

My brother just shattered my expectations of all things Fire Emblem.

First off, he got lucky against the Black Knight. First turn, Aether, enemy's turn, BK misses, a second Aether.

Secondly, I first laughed when I saw that my younger brother had a level 20 Princess Elincia. Then, I saw her stats.

Elincia is a vertasile unit. I'll save a sonic sword for that lady, I will. A healer with a sword means that she's gotta be good with magic swords. (cha-ching) Amiti is a brave sword with lighter weight. She's all too good. I'll train Marcia and Tanith so that they can triangle.

Most of the time, the main characters have potential to be extremely strong units, even if they don't start out that strong.

Also, I'd just like to add that triangle attacks are under-rated, it can really change a battle to have three flying units that together, become very powerful.

I've yet to do a triangle attack (I will on this playthrough), but from what I can tell, while it's powerful, you can only use it to finish off one unit per turn, correct?

You can only attack one unit per turn, at least that's how it was in FE7. I've yet to do a triangle attack in FE9.

Too bad FE9 did short cuts and didn't add animations for them. It would have been spectacular. More or less, the triangle attack is a critical hit from each of the trhee units. I would have asked for a better system, but yeah, it's still worthwhile. Come to think of it, they didn't add animations for Healing and long-range magic.... I really wanted that...

If an enemy attacks Rhys or Mist, then they do have a battle model. And yep, they sure did.

Long range magic is magic whose range isn't direct or indirect. Most likely the distance of half of the user's magic. I'm talking about Bolting and Luna. In FE9, I'm referring to, Meteor, Bolting, Purge, and Blizzard.

Okay, I got Sothe to lvl 20. Here's his stats:

HP: 40/40 (maxed out)

Strength: 19

Magic: 3

Skill: 20 (maxed)

Speed: 20 (maxed)

Luck: 21

Defense: 14

Resistance: 12

He has 27 attack with a Stiletto.

I think they're pretty good for now at least. He can survive for quite a while with his high HP and fairly good defense, but I regret not training Volke more before he "evolved". Right now I'm on chapter 24. I'm still confused with this "triangle attack" thing. Do you send in three people to attack, and then they all get criticals or something?

They each have to be Two squares away, and in a triangle fashion. Send any one to attack with a bow, and given that they're all using bows, aligned so taht one is in front and two are behind (diagonal) or beside, and two squares away, they'll have a dialogue and start criticalling, taking turns shooting the enemy.

I think they're pretty good for now at least. He can survive for quite a while with his high HP and fairly good defense, but I regret not training Volke more before he "evolved". Right now I'm on chapter 24. I'm still confused with this "triangle attack" thing. Do you send in three people to attack, and then they all get criticals or something?

Looking at those stats, I have to admit I'm rather surprised. They're not phenomenal, but they're more well-rounded than I anticipated, which I suppose isn't bad.

I've begun to like PoR again. I've found myself playing it on and off again. So far my second file has got up to Duke Tanas section. I'm still in his villa at the moment. I've got the fun of Serenes forest yet to come. :blink:
I find that I can only play FE in sections. I'll do so many chapters, then I'll leave it and won't come back to it for months. Is anyone else like this or is it just my nutty way of playing?

Nah, it happens now and then. Particularly after I've failed at a chapter a number of times, I'll just give up the game for a week or two, then go back to it (and usually, when I return back, the chapter is THAT much easier :blink:).

Happens to everyone. You just have to let it sit for awhile, let your brain just run. I take out my frustration in the link arena in the GBA games or go watch a cinematic on FE9 if I'm frustrated.

XD When I'm frustrated with anything, I play SSBM for a while against a lvl 9. Oh, and a I lost one guy in the Serenes forest. He was the axe knight in red armor. You get him in the dungeon/prison place where you free those dudes from captivity. And he was doing so well too! I would've shut it off and re-did it, but that was in the third section, and there was NO way I was going to do that all over again. The most attack I have with Boyd right now (he's a warrior with maxed out strength) is 51. I forged a silver axe and gave it max stats, but I don't ever change the weight if the character it's intended for can weild it withought penalty. I did that for Ike too. Silver sword, maxed, he's got 44 attack.

You do realize you only have to repeat the stage, right? If you're up to stage 3, you stay at stage 3 until you beat it.

.....oh.....I feel stupid now.....on the bright side, I have more than enough people with incredible stats. Lethe can be on the front line the who;e time, in the way of all attacks, and barely be touched. Mordecai's fairly the same way. I also have quite a few people who have more than 60 HP.

Bah, it's all right. I personally never liked Kieran (that knight in red you mentioned).

Lethe and Mordecai are both strong, yes. Lethe has the speed and skill, Mordecai the strength and HP.

Also, the Serenes Forest plot marks about the halfway point in the game. Make sure, by this point, any characters that can promote are promoted.

So there's about 40 chapters then? And I don't have everybody promoted, but Rhys is a Bishop now, and Rolf is a sniper, but what is so great about Mist? Is it that she can become a Valkyrie?

Any mobile healer is a good choice to have. A healer that can run from teh front lines is worth having. Save a Sonic sword for her. Use up Arms scrolls on her, sot aht her sword level is D or higher. Give her the Sonic Sword. Watch her take out the enemies quickly enough to make a break for it.

I see....But she can't do a triangle attack with anyone though, can she? But besides that, as mentioned ealier, since she's a magic user, she's bound to have a high magic stat, so the SS would do a lot of damage.

Not a magic user. Valkyries use Swords. No magic. Staves don't count as magic anymore.

Sorry, I confused myself. I was thinking abotu Light magic. It doesn't have a magic level, but is influenced by the staff level.

Mist has a Staff level and a Sword level. In no way is Mist able to cast attack magic tomes, like past valkyries. (Sonic Sword is a sword)

Mr. T, you are thinking probably of the GBA Fire Emblem games, where Valkeyries used Anime magic.

Mist can only use two magic based weapons (but both are swords); the RuneSword, and the Sonic Sword, which are levels A and B respectively.

And Mr. T, there are roughly 30 Chapters in the game.

When you're facing a creepy green-moustached, black armoured character (Can't be good! =P) he's gonna have the runesword. Meet his request and kill him.

On the mountain level, just play the chapter several times, study how the boulders move. Just don't get into the way. High mobility characters are a must.

There are a few magic based weapons in the game. The Sonic Sword, RuneSword, Bolt Axe, Flame Lance... and perhaps the Double/Bright Bow?

Yes, Bright bow. The Double bow was just an S level weapon, kind of a Longbow upgrade. VERY VERY Useful. :blink:

There's also a Devil's Axe, but the video I saw wasn't promising. Boyd just switched to the unarmed animation and nothing else happened. Guess it was unfinished in the database before the game's release. Oh, and I saw a video where you play as Greil and be able to use Urvan, his axe. Looks nice.

I'll make it a must to try and steal Rexaura and Rexbolt somehow.

I ALMOST had Rexbolt (the sage at the tower place has one that he'll drop if you kill him), but Tibarn killed him before I could, so I didn't get it. That would have been so awesome too! And are you sure there is 40 chapters? It says "End Game" instead of "chapter 29". Or are there some sidequests I didn't unlock? I also didn't kill the black knight. AAAGH!!! I fled instead because I didn't get Aether to work. I also didn't give Mist anything because I didn't use her in the previous battle. And does anyone know what kind of attack Nasir used on the Black Knight? It was some kind of yellowlight collored breath.

She was only level 2 for me and I still did it. Unlike Toasty though she had a heal staff. It was still tough though.

I've always wondered whether the Black Knight attacks Mist if she's in his range. Not that I've ever tried (I did once, but I realized I gave Mist "Shade"), and I've been curious ever since.

And yes, with Mist, it's very likely to win the battle, as you have the four turns (eight exchanges) to wipe him out, which is statistically possible. Without her, you'll have to rely on Elixers, which severely limits your attack.

I really can't remember too well. It was a while since I did it. I think she was next to him but the turn I healed Ike was the turn that I beat the Black Knight.

Without Mist, it's actually not too difficult to kill the Black Knight if you know what your doing. I never, ever trained Mist, so I depended on Elixers, of course. I also always stayed close to the Black Knight, so I could use Aether. I beat the Black Knight on every one of my playthroughs. He was never totally hard.

What I said is that Chapter 17, with the four stages, is roughly the half-point of the game (a little past it). I just said that at this point in the game, you should have your party figured out, and that most, if not all, of your characters should be promoted. It's a "checkpoint" of sorts.

Dont worry, as far as I know the Black Knight wont attack Mist. Still after a while other enemies come and they WILL attack her.

Ike is ignored by the other enemies, and Mist is ignored Black Knight. Story-wise, BK says to leave Ike alone, and let the two of them duel. The enemy then says "Take out the girl!" or something. If all holds true, Mist'd mop the floor with them anyways.

Well, yeah, if she had good enough stats, which in my case, she didn't. I beat PoR the day before yesterday, then hooked up SS for bonus material. It's all pretty interesting really, but I'm deffinately playing through again. I messed up too many times, like attacking the BK from afar.

My SP is getting kind of worn out. The R button (or was it L?) doesn't work very well (you have to press it a certain way) anymore, and the screen is fadeing a bit. Now I only use it for the GC, or when my DS get's taken away.

My GBA is alright. The buttons are fine, but the control pad needs a hard push to get characters moving. It's especially annoying in GS when you're trying to run places and you can't go in some directions.

I'm fine with FE though since the movements are mostly linear.

I just think it's weird how some consoles never seem to stop working despite their age. Even our old ZX Spectrum (Super duper old games console from the 80's) still works.
I've got to have another go at POR soon. I lost one battle in it and I haven't felt the need to go back to it yet. To be fair I'm one of the most annoying sections of the game (Serenes Forest). The first two battles are fine but the 3rd is annoying.

Sounds mystical. Nintendo released the new screenshots of the game, 20 in all. The gameplay footage looks like FE9, but spiced up Emeril Lagasse style. The face sprite depiction is the same, so we can expect FEP to give us a rip from that. The interface looks very elegant, and I'm real eager to see how this turns out. Release date for Fire Emblem: Akatsuki no Megami is February 2007 in Japan.

This is the largest Screenshot. I'm sure you can draw some speculation from that, but don't jump too far ahead.

I sure hope we get another glimpse at the FMVs. More to come, I'm to excited to post anything else. XD

Ike was never a royal lord unlike past Fire Emblems. How is Sothe any different?

Sothe moves like an Assassin, by the looks of things. It is not known about the availability of other characters. Looking back at how Karel and Bartre appeared in FE6, it is possible.

And we've got enough "Disguised Thief" from Volke. I wouldn't expect Sothe to do the same.

I have indeed heard speculation about Begnion being the new enemy. Some have even suggested that Zelgius is in fact the Black Knight, a theory I doubt, but it definitely holds with the Pegasus Knights being the next threat (note also, what is their affinity? Dark.)

Sothe is one of a kind. You were praising him for his Blossom ability a few pages back, weren't you? Tell me what kind of thief has stats like his and DOESN'T have a promotion into Assassin. Pre-FE7 thieves were all frail and died very easily. Plus, you don't have to be a totally unique class to be a Lord. You just have to be a main character. It's a Strategy-RPG, the main character is the main character, not the armour he is in.

Eliwood was a Paladin in FE6. Hector was a general in FE6. In FE7, they were a unique class. It could change. Only a hint of Sothe's potential was seen as he was portrayed as a class that isn't much of a brawler, despite his stats which made him a little more able than most.

Zelgius is a Begnion general. It's a nice suspicion that he is Black Knight, with a lot of proof to boot. I don't see it as true, though. Just as some beleive Lord Renning was reused for Bertram, I think Black Knight was reused for Zelgius, except the tweaked his stats and gave him a new model/sprite set. Keep in mind that a lot of graphics were either scrapped from the story or duplicated. Nintendo was rushing FE9, apparently...

No, you can't. He's still left in the game's coding, however. Lord Renning doesn't appear, yet he has a body sprite. Neither do all the assortments of non-generic soldiers and bandits. The reason may be that they were last-minute changes or were eneded for the game's flow, much like Missingno in Pokemon.

We have named the girl. She's Mikaya now. As far as we know, she and Sothe are part of a Greil Mercenaries-ish band called the Company of Dawn. I'm hoping for a Zihark reappearance as a godly swordmaster. (Karel, anyone?!)

The rest of the revealed company is Leonard (archer), Noyce (Warrior), Laura (Cleric), and Eddie (Myrmidon). No sign of the Cain and Abel knights yet. The Jeigan is nowhere to be seen. Unless Sothe is the Jeigan, which in that case, how do you like the look of a Mage Lord instead of a Thief Lord?

Or, you can just scrap the whole thing and say that They're jsut main characters and Ike can make a reappearance.

Notice that they're all Paladins.

When I first played I fell into the trap of relying too much on Paladins. My other characters were weak whilst I used the Jeigan.
I guess it's about striking out the right balance and not using them too much.

I'm not defensive at all, so I get rid of the Jeigan unless it has potential (like Titania, Seth) Forget the human shield, that's what Armoured units are for, plus, they gain more exp.

Jeigans are invaluable in the first few chapters of the Fire Emblem games. They have around twice as much strength compared to your early units and they can protect your units when they're in trouble.

However, this is for the first chapters. After that, the Jeigans lose their invaluability, and they become just another member of your army. Still, those like Seth and Titania have nice potential, so they can still prove themselves better than most of your other units.

Just as an interesting fact, I'd like to point out that Ashera, the goddess of Tellius (Fire Emblem: path of Radiance) is a reference to two dieties. One is Asherah, the female equivalent of the god Baal whom the Canaanites turned to when they felt that Yahweh had abandonned them. In the Japanese version, the Goddess was named "Athena". It's fitting, since Athena was a goddess that blessed a few articles like weapons and armour in Greek Mythology.

Anyone find chapter 14 (Ephraim's side) of SS to be incredibly annoying once you've reached the Sages with Berserk Staves? Wow, that made me waste a lot of time running from Dozla, Gerik, and Gilliam. D= All of them were promoted, too, so it made me even more nervous. @.@;;

Nah. I tried it on my friends file. I stayed out of their range most of the time, and only one of my guy's went beserk.

I actually did that once my three characters went back to normal. I used Cormag, Seth, Kyle, and Tana for this:

First I would begin by staying out of the Sages' ranges. Then, I would send Tana and Kyle to rush and unlock the gates that protect the Sages. Then I sent Cormag and Seth up, since their movement was so good, and had them take em out. n.n

I'm replaying PoR with random stats. I'm also replaying it on another file with fixed stats. I want to see if I can get some characters more rounded in the random one. For instance, I'll try to get Rhys to have more defense. I'll compare it to the fixed stats to see which one is better.

Fixed stats can make a bad character's stats good, but leaves a good character's stats good.

Random stats have the potential to make character's stats perfect, good or bad. But of course there is always the catch. It makes the game a lot more challenging when you have to focus on your units and develop hsi strengths arccordingly. Diligence, indeed.

Really, Cormag actually worked for that? Whenever I try something involving Cormag near magic units, he gets eaten, chewed up, and spat back out in a very bad state. His resistance is always around 3 for me...at lv 5 Wyvern Lord. Thats pretty much the reason I keep Vanessa/Tana with me, to kill magic units. By the way, is Tana a better unit than Vanessa?

I don't use Pegasi as much, since my strategy revolves around sweeping the area with powerful tank units and units that mass-kill.

I plan to, in later playthrougs, just to give myself mroe mobility than just paladins.

I rarely use them as well. If I see an archer on the field, I know there's little point in bringing them out.

As far as I remember (I haven't played Sacred Stones in a long time), Tana is more difficult to train, as she's pretty weak in the beginning, but she has the most potential. Vanessa is more balanced, and a "safer" choice, and a solid, but not necessarily a spectacular unit.

No I don't like Pegasi either. =/ I mostly don't bother with them.
They are so frail and weak in the beginning... I surely hate that! Monks are hard to train to, however they often are already pretty fast in the beginning and can attack from a distance.

A pegasus knight needs to kill thiefs and already damaged units... I tried Florina out once, but I lost intresst when she was lv 8. :P

She nearly decimated an entire map on her own as a FalcoKnight.

I trained Arture up to a bishop. I never fight monsters withought him. I draw them in close with higher defense, then pick 'em off with his incredible attack bonus (He does damage in the 70's against monsters). Sometimes I'll put him out in front since he also has great evade. He hardly ever gets hit.

'Nuff said. Oh, and the damage that you do is displayed on the spot the character hits the enemy, as you can see from the scan. Neat.

Hmm interesting. It would be better than just waiting for them to change into their laguz, like PoR did. It would be a hypocritical as well, as they spend the game moaning thatweapons are human things, rather than Laguz things.

They would do anything to add another aspect to the game. Even though this is just a little piece, as MD pointed out, it does reveal a lot. Does this mean that Laguz can actually attack in their human form?

Sorry, by laguz weapon I meant claws, beaks, and breath. The fact that they used teeth this time made me have to cagtegorize it.

They still can't use weapons, but they can now attack by bare strength alone.

Which definitely adds a new dimension to the game. This means they aren't entirely defenseless in their human forms, which was definitely an issue in the first game.

And of course, a reasonably restriction is that they act on strength stat alone, without the bonus of their laguz weapon. That means it's just skin and bone, no steel. Just proves the very hardy, non-weapon-reliant nature that is the laguz.

EDIT: Hm. It seems that the Appearance of Gallian lions may just be a test battle for demo purposes.

Well that sucks, but hopefully we'll get to use one or two later on in the game (before the last battle), but Laguz being able to attack in their human form sounds great. Mordecai had 29 strength in human form on my PoR file by the end.
