*slaps forhead* How could I forget the ever lovable Mercenary/Hero class?
Oh, I was just wondering; what are your favorite songs from FE7?
I love "Rise to The Challenge" (29) and "Softly With Grace" (30).
(Oh, and anyone who says "Together We Ride" will be shot)

Uh, my favorite non-Lord class is probably Great Knights (can only use axes, coming back in FE9). Also, Swordmasters rock, though Guy isn't anything special. . . .
Hear about upcoming FE 8 and 9? What are you wishing/looking foward to?

Thanks for the info; I guess I'm doomed to a life of fighting Kenneth; this time I really focused on my physical attackers rather than my magicians...
(My Raven owns!)
Oh, speaking of which, I was reading some of the old support convos, and stumbled across Raven and Pricilla's. He WAS joking about the whole "take you as my bride" thing years ago, right? It was just a child's game?

Picture this.
Me = 3 lords, Florina, Fiora, Serra, Erk, Canas, Rebecca (I ALWAYS use her).
Them - 53 units, mostly Valkyries, with Sleep, Berserk, and Thunder. All level 13 (with GOOD stats).
You have to kill every unit on the map.
That's the kind of stuff HH (Hector hard) makes you do.

My team is very balanced this time.
But I have some questions:
Which is the best Cavalier?
Kent, Sain, or Lowen?
Fighter?
Dorcas or Bartre?
Archer?
Will, Rebecca, or Rath?
Do you prefer Raven or Guy?
#834
Posted 23 September 2004 - 02:04 PM
Fighters = Bartre, though Fighters are utterly and horribly useless, Bartre has high speed and strength. And thats it. V_V *remembers HH*
Archer -REBECCA!!!! (If you have Fire Affinity, she'll be even better!)
I like them both, so I alternate. One play I'll use Guy, the other I'll use Raven. I prefer Raven though, they weakend Swordmasters so much. . . .

Eliwood stat growth, the percent is the chance it has for going up. If it's above 100%, it will definately go up.

Oswin- (General)

Pricilla- (Valkarie...holy crap! She is good! :))
Guy- (Swordmaster)
Raven- (Hero)
Matthew- (Assassin)
Will- (Sniper)
Canas- (Druid)
Lucius- (Bishop)
Well...those are my good units...and I don't remember their specific levels; they're probably lingering around in the fifteens and such.

Hmm. . . Interesting team, actually. I personally dislike Guy, the RNG HATES him, but maybe you got luckier then I did. . . yes, Priscilla IS really good, worth getting her Anima Magic level to A. Lowen is. . . Ok. . you do have weapon triangle for him, so that works. Oswin, tch, I prefer Wallace, though I don't like armor units, you always have to use the boots so they can GO somewhere.
Raven is good to, but his Def and Res growth is always HORRIBLE for me, hopefully this came out better for you (above 10). I don't like Matthew the Assasin. His stat growth isn't that great, he always comes out REAL bad for me, so I use Legault, especially in Hector's Hard mode, though he may come good for you. That, and you took who I call the "safe" Archer, Wil. Rebecca is "better" you can say, but some times, she comes out horrid, in which you'd rather you use Wil.
Your team seems more prepped for Hector's Hard mode, your using a lot of magic user, and units you get from the enemy. . .
I like it!

Isadora and Marcus is horrible...
Isadora: Overall good character but stat growth and attack is bad...
Sain, Kent: Good characters. High movement rate and stats maxed out for me...
Mathew: Very good character...Level him up good and he shall become good...Promote him and he will be even better than Jaffar.
Wil: Bad archer...
Prescilla: In my opinion, a pretty good character. But Serra can outdo her easily...
#896

Isadora does have potential though, she can have quite high speed, enabling for easy double attacking. . .
Marcus is a good meat shield for early in the game, and he's most useful in Hector's Hard mode, where he fulfills his Jeiganess by having a Silver Lance

What affinitys are good with Wind affinity as i'm born in may?
#901
Posted 13 October 2004 - 01:12 PM
The thing is, FE7 growth rates aren't that great, they really make you rely on affinity. Which is why characters like Rath or Florina, who have affinities that are only 1 month, are not as easy to use as someone like Nino (who has 2 or 3 months with a Fire affinity).

On the archer/bow topic. . .
It doesn't hurt to get Lyn to a respectable C in bows, so she can use Killer Weapons. I just perfer keeping her sword pure.
Wil is generally a decent Archer, his growth is always solid, and you can rely on him no matter what.
However, if you're willing to take the gamble on Becca, it's well worth it. For a Fire Affinity (such as myself) Strength, Skill and Speed max easily, while she has a respectable Res and Defense. For a non-fire Affinity, her speed and skill still are maxed easily - you'll need a support to make her even deadlier in battle. My preference (as I finished her supports) is Nino - two deadly teen girls with S rank weapons, lovely. O_O

I know this question is pretty much "blasphemy against FE", but, how do you get all of your units at 20/20 at the end of the game? I've beaten it 3 times, but each time, I end up at roughly 20/10 or 20/15. And this is WITH Arena abuse (around 80 phases of it in Ch. 24 :P).
Please don't hurt me.
#924
Posted 17 October 2004 - 12:25 AM
EDIT: @ Forte
Actually. . .
Arena abuse is not needed. At all. My personal method of leveling up is "Ambushed by Morphs" abuse, or "Victory or Death" abuse.
On the chapter "Victory or Death", it takes a good 15 turns to reach Limestella. Afterwards, the chapter will seem empty.
If you haven't defeated Limstella, after several turns, a large amount of reinforcements appear in the top left corner, the 5 forts in front of Limstella, and the bottom right corners. These appear every turn. I use these to level up, and I'm not sure if they stop coming.

Is it a waste of time for me to level up Bartre or Dart? Warriors are good because of their brute strength and ability to use bows, and Berzerkers have a good critical hit rate...but...

Meh. . . I know you can get a Light Brand somewhere. . . Just use normal magic.
I don't use Dart, and I don't LIKE Bartre. It's up to you, Forte.

(Oh yeah, the Pirate upgrade item, the Ocean seal, is found 2 spaces to the left of Merlinus on Hector mode, I recomend you use a theif to find it)

Hawkeye is a very slow and weak character...The only reason why he seems powerful is with his Killer Axe...

The rest of my party is really unbalanced, too, focusing everything on Kent (Level 16/3), Oswin (Level 18/1), and Rebecca (Level 11, 12, or something other)
(Note: When I give info in a Level x/y format, x = maximum level for their original class and y = current level for their promoted class)
Maybe I should just restart.

It's OK, musicman. It doesn't help that the "Pros" at Nintendo Power push Marcus use as well. It took me a little while to realize Marcus paled in comparison to everyone else. . . .

I hope you're joking Link.
Kishuna HELPS you. And using Magic against a Sage is like hitting a General with a Slim Sword. No Damage.
The reason he's dodging your attacks Silo, is because he is sitting on a terrain advantage area. Use someone with High Skill, like Lyn, Rebecca or Eliwood to drain his HP. If you are using a Pegasus Knight, it'll make life even easier.

In which stages are the hidden shops located?
#977
Posted 23 October 2004 - 09:37 PM
The first two are located in the chapter "The Dragon's Gate". There is one in an indent towards the upperleft corner, and there is one in the very bottom right corner - a forest.
The next one is located in the chapter where you get Heath (doesn't stick out enough for me to know its name). It is in the upper left room, a decorated tile.
The next one is located in the chapter "Four Fanged Offense". In the Linus version, it is in the forest on the Island. I don't know where it is on the Lloyd version, because I never fight him O_O.
Those are the ones I know the most.

Roy destroys Eliwood. Absoulutely no comparison. Roy is a really, really bad Lord. True, Eliwood IS the better Lord. However, upon promotion. . . Roy's stats soar. He's almost as easy to max as Eirik. And add in the Funin no Tsurugi, and he's a god.

I already know the effects of Kishuna's magic seal, and I used it to my advantage. I'm too smart to let Aion use his Bolting magic, since I tested on Kishuna to see what would happen, and Aion barely missed Lyn.
I'm already on Chapter 24 (having killed Fiora and deciding to level up Florina instead), and I have the Heaven's seal. Well, my best bet is to give it to Eliwood, since he's possibly much more powerful that way than a level 14 Hector (I know, I've given him the "stereoids of experience points" there). Right now, Eliwood and Lyn are both level 7, so I've got some work to do.
Well, not without asking which Lord is best for giving the Heaven's seal to. So, any advice ... ?

For shame, for shame. Fiora is dead. *sniffs*
Anyway = You have a problem. I think I've said this a few times throughout the thread, but in FE7, your Lords are the centerpiece of your army. They should be at level 20 each, give or take one or two (usually, my Eliwood is a level or two behind - its just positioning). It'll be difficult from here on out from the way you've been playing - your best bet is to take less units than usual (two or three less), and attack with your more powerful units, then let one of your Lords finish off the enemy, preferably on a terrain that gives them an advantage. Eliwood should be your main focus - he'll promote no matter what after a certain chapter (as Hector in his story), and he CAN be one of the weakest or one of the strongest units you can get.
Your first Heaven Seal, I suggest, should go to Lyn. She's your most powerful Lord, learn to send her alone into armies.
---
@ Venus Man:
This is a pretty easy chapter, you have to beat Linus. If you've been using an Archer (and they're promoted) good for you - your life is that much easier. Rebecca is the better choice, she can evade the attack of just about anything, so that isn't anything to worry about. There is a house on the very right with an Earth Seal - send a flying unit, or mounted unit to take care of the units over there, and grab the house. The rest of your army should be fighting overall defenisvely, eventually the reinforcements will slow as you approach him.

It is because storyline wise, Fire Emblem 6 takes place after Fire Emblem 7. Fire Emblem 7 is the prequel to six.

Either way, I'm doing fine on my own. I've killed off Bartre so far (I've used a seperate save file after the desert chapter just in case I want to get Fiora back), but it doesn't stop me. About the Lords, I'd say you're a little too obsessed, since I was right on the nose when I thought you'd choose Lyn. No offense or anything, but what if I can finish the game my way? I've got the basic concept for not killing units and using items sparringly, etc., and from there, I might prove you wrong about my problem ... ? :P
Sorry, I sound like Agatio. Just the thought of being told that the way I fight "sucks" in the sense is a rather annoying aspect. Who knows? Maybe I'm doing better than you, maybe not.
I've been keeping the less units aspect in mind, since I've tried it once, but I never felt any fulfillment about it ... like I'm missing a part of the strategy. You know how the fortune-teller says to use those with winged-beasts (preferrably Heath & Florina/Fiora). But, I guess you'll say that what she tells you isn't good enough to finish the job. So? I'll find out my second time around ...
Here ends my rant/explanation for my dissapointing fighting style in Fire Emblem.

In my opinion, the first priority, which stands over everything, is keeping your units alive. I don't know why, but I get kind of sad if one of them dies. Normally, I wouldn't care to much if your Lords were underleveled *looks at Marth*, but FE7 has a big problem. It's "legendary" (I.E. Rienfleche, Excalibur) weapons AREN'T effective against the final enemy. This poses a large problem, as Hector and Eliwood do large amounts of damage at high levels (Lyn hits for 3), but at low levels, the enemy will attack twice, which doesn't help the fact that no matter what, it'll do 37.
Of course, it's perfectly possible for you to go through the game in any method, and I'm not going to impose on you.
@ Venus Man = What I meant was, play and move defensivley. That's all I can say, I basically laid out that chapter.
