We're not so sure yet about the full story, obviously, so we may still be seeing lions as enemies as it's still a posibility. As of now, we only have two videos and several scans and screenshots to base our assumptions on.

Personally, I never used laguz, so it doesn't really matter to me.

BTW: Notice that the 8-note Class Change tune is present in each and every game. In FE4, it's also in the level up theme song.

I used laguz in almost every battle. I maxed out Lethe's and Mordecai's levels. They just have so much strength and defense!

Those aren't teeth MD, the second word mean teeth but I think the phrase actully mean claws.

Well the icon does look like teeth rather than the claw that I know of. I'll do a sprite comparison. Kind of like the Ryuuseiken thing. I mistook that it meant Holy Dragon Sword, but really it's Meteor Sword (Astra in PoR).

Now take a look. Muarim and Caineghis' weapon shows teeth as a sprite, and the name of it is 牙. Over in a Souen no Kiseki screenshot, we have Lethe with a claws sprite and the name 爪.

And yeah, I hope that you'll get a lion early in the game to, however I doubt that. Ohh and is Sothe still the main character in the game? I heard rumours that Miyaka would be the new lord...

It's a gaiden chapter, and yes it is very difficult. Your Wil/Rebecca must be very powerful to defeat Somia like that.

Yeah it was my Rebacca, she was like lv 15 promoted.
I was able to double attack Sonia because of her rather heavy Bolting tome.
I used Ninian to let her attack twice before the throne healed her. ;)

But, this was just on Medium in Hector's road. So I guess it's not that difficult. :)

And MD do you use Jaffar? To be honest, I find him horrible.
His cricital hit % isn't nearly as good as an Assassin should have, and I think he lacks alot in Luck.

The best unit in FE7 I think is Hector. Well Im honestly 99% sure he is.

Mist carried Lheran's medallion. That's important enough. The only other people that can do so without going berserk (because of their purity) were either slaughtered at the hands of one of the four riders of Daein, or are only going to be realized during Goddess of Dawn.

I only used Jaffar to work on his and Nino's supports. Matthew and Legault took care of the Assassin job.

I tended to use Mordecai a lot as well. He's a good character. I never really used Mist. I never thought of her as that important, though I can understand now why she would be.

Also, I picked Lethe over Mordecai simply because she is faster. I didn't have enough space on my team for two laguz really.

I used all three of the strong ones, Mordecai, Lethe, and that other tiger (can't remember the name) I found them to be a priority towards the end.

Same here. I max'd their levels, and they all had incredible stats. I split into three groups, with Ike going down the middle with Lethe and Elincia. Rhys mordecai and the head of the pegasus knights went left, the General with the stache', the dragon girl, and the first myrmidon you get (though she was promoted by then). I also sent anyone else I didn't mention down the middle. Worked out fine.

I should point out that actually getting Mist to use her high magic is difficult. She uses swords, which relies on strength. The only magic-based weapons Mist can use are the Runesword, and one other one I can't remember at the moment.

But I do remember that they were at least a 'B' weapon ranking, which means it'll take some time for Mist to use it, even with Arms Scrolls.

The other one was the sonic sword. But even then, she'd be the best qualified to use it, besides Elincia, of course.

Elincia's Amiti Sword is good enough, especially since it functions as a Brave Sword too.

I might be wrong, but Amiti did also have similar stats to the brave sword. IF that's the case, then it's Elincia's own strength that's hidnering the damage.

The Amiti is weaker than the brave sword, but easier to weild and lighter. At least that's what I remember.

I'm pretty sure that when you change Mist's classes, you can choose between swords or magic. I chose swords, but she could use magic. Is that right?

Both the Amiti and the Brave Sword are identical in might. The only difference is the weight.

Yeah, SoT's right. It's Stefan (Soanevalche in Japanese) and he also comes with an Occult scroll and a neat skill called Astra (Ryuseiken in Japanese). His supports reveal a lot about the relationships between Laguz and Beorc in a different sense than portrayed in the main events of the game.

UPDATE.

Fire Emblem: Goddess of Dawn is going to be one of the better Fire Emblem games. I can feel it.

The graphics are a few steps up. The movement is more dynamic in battle, spiced up with more flashy dodging, and the ability to knock an opponent down onto the ground with an attack. Also, each character now has a pose at the beginning and the end of battle, should it survive or kill the enemy.

Also, the magic triangle has been upgraded to include dark magic once again. I'm guessing wii now have:

(Fire -> Wind -> Thunder) -> Light -> Dark -> (Fire -> Wind -> Thunder)

Just like in Fire Emblem 4, if I can recall.

I thought that each FE game auto-saved after every turn in order to stop people from switching off the console when a character dies, but that doesn't seem to be the case in Path of Radiance. Now, my question is thus: does the game by chance auto-save only after one of your characters dies? In other words, do I have to hurry and restart my GC if I don't want to save a death(not that I'm going to do that all the time, only until I get the hang of everything you can do in Fire Emblem, since it is my first game afterall)?

Your question confuses me, but if you save after every chapter, then if you lose your character, you will have to restart your Gamecube and therefore the chapter. I believe that answers your question.

Well he'd better be, since he's a main character. His stats are a lot stronger and has a special dagger called the Kard. By what I've seen, he moves like Volke does as an assassin, so I'm guessing he'll be a special thief.

Just because he is the same character as the last game, doesn't mean that he won't be significantly different in battle. Fire Emblem is unpredictable in many ways, I'm sure his movement range along with other things will change if Sothe does become the main character.

The one thing that interests me the most so far is the idea of a Thief as a main character. That's what you would call unpredictable. =P Still, it was also a bit weird to put a Ranger who becomes a Lord as a main character instead of a main character who goes from Lord to something like Great Lord.

But a "Ranger" was a completely new class, at least for the American games (I believe, would someone correct me if I'm wrong). A thief has been used in most titles and will certainly be a surprise choice for a main character.

Yeah, I think the Ranger was a new class. It was still a bit surprising, because the FEs before Path of Radiances had the main characters start of as Lords only. The Ranger still seems more likely as a starting main character class than a Thief, though.

EDIT: I'd also like to note that the original Greek pronunciation of Nike is really "NEE-keh" as opposed to "NAI-kee". This rumored character in FE10, knowing Japanese pronunciation, would be reasonable to be pronounced as its Greek origin.

The game takes place 3 years after Path of Radiance Begnion takes control of Daein, the people of Daein unhappy with this change goto war against Begnion.

Sothe is Miyaka's younger brother; they are not blood related.

**** Dark Magic! We have 3 NEW weapon types! ;) I'm not too found of magic users mostly, exept for the generic "fast but fragile" Sage and Bischops. What could the new weapons be? I don't have any hopes or wishes, but it'd be nice to have crossbows or poleaxes, but those could also be classified as a bow or axe. Anyone has better ideas?

Magic users normally don't fall within my favor that well, either. However, there is only one magic user that really fell into my favor: Soren. He's just the best magic user there is. Pent and Canas are good, but Soren just outperforms them in every way. =D

I'll point at that this list is based on which character I liked the most rather than anything else. I preferred Ike over the others.

I voted Ike over Hector for two reasons:

1. Ragnell. Although both get superior weapons, Ike gets his earlier than Hector gets his. Also, Ragnell has infinite durability and the ability to attack from two panels away as well.

2. Aether.

If not for either of these, Ike would be equal to Hector.

It's not fair to give Ike the greater advantage though, simply because FE7 (GBA) didn't have any sort of skills.

Though I'd imagine if Hector did have a skill, it would probably be Luna or something, like the Black Knight.

That would probably be true. Or maybe because Hector is a Lord, he may have been given a special skill like Ike if he was placed in FE9. But, if it's unfair to give Ike the advantage because of Aether, then I give him the advantage because of Ragnell, and the fact that he performs better than Hector in the beginning. After all, Ike double-attacks a lot more in the beginning and has a better hit rate.

There's 29 chapters in all. Chapter 17 consists of 4 separate stages and Chapter 27 contains a powerful enemy to fight after you beat the actual chapter. It's a pretty good-sized game.

Chapter 17 isn't too fun though. It took a lot of will for me to complete that chapter.
However the good points of the game far outweigh the bad points, such as fighting that 'powerful enemy'.
I bet Aqua's done that and is thinking 'Guys I already beat 'that powerful enemy'. :)

The game is not short, that is unless you are extremely good at predicting and beating FE games. It took me forever to beat PoR, and I had to keep walking away from the game and convincing myself to continue. It certainly was a challenge, and a game that ended up being one of my favorite Gamecube titles.

Yeah, I only got to Chapter 2 last night and Chapter 1 wasn't significantly harder in Hard Mode. I assume it will get more challenging though. I was almost too wimpy to try it, but playing the whole thing again on Normal would just be too boring.

Now Metroid Prime on hard mode? That's crazy.

I hate fog in FE and AW. It's just ruins he fun for me. Yes it means that you have to plan your strategy differently but if you don't have a torch or theif, then you're screwed really.

Yeah, I'm on Chapter 10 now and the difference is not that great. But my characters are doing great. Boyd is about to change classes, and so is Oscar. Ike is lv. 19 or something around there. I haven't been using Titania, and have only been using her as a diversion. And of course, none of my characters are dead.

Well, the reason new characters mostly come under-leveled in FE9 is probably because of the bonus experience option. :angry:

Sacred Stones is actually pretty good. Sure, it could be the easiest game, but it was fun nonetheless. Seth is probably the best Jeigan in FE that I've played with. =D

The only reason that Sacred Stones got lesser reviews is because critics were comparing it to FE7, saying that while a new story and some new mechanics were in place, it was basically the same game and presentation, with nothing dramatically new.

That said, I've played Path of Radiance on Hard Mode. As gsninja said, it's more annoying than difficult, with Fog of War maps being the main difference. However, it is tricker; in some levels, bandits/thieves are MUCH closer to villages, so you have to work a lot harder to get to them before they are destroyed. Also, in the later chapters the amount of enemy reinforcements is huge; in Chapter 6, I remember there being well over 50 enemies, outnumbering my forces at least 3:1.

And of course, in the final chapter, there is an "additional" battle after you beat Ashnard. You'll see.

The Thieves/Bandits also appear several turns earlier in Hard Mode than Normal mode if they aren't on the map when the battle begins. I remember losing about a fourth to a third of the items I usually got on Normal mode while going through Hard mode.

The enemy count in FE9 is nothing compared to FE4. It's an all-out war there. The first chapter had 40+ enemies IIRC. Although, you did have 11-12 of your own units that you can deploy. Oh, and there is no limit to the amount of allies you deploy from your base in FE4, so you can have as many as 30 characters on field. Pretty darn awesome, seeing as there are two generations playable =)

I recently begun a new file in PoR to. I'm now trying Hard Mode for a change, and yeah as GL said it's more frustating then actually difficult. Still, I lost my Rhys in Chapter 7... =/ Guess I'll have to train Mist this time.

Nah, you don't have to train Mist. As a matter of fact, even in Hard mode, one healer is still good enough. Mist is good for getting places faster, though.

I'm mad at FE. I got through everybody in Chapter 11, then the Black Knight comes in and kills off three of my guys. So of course I had to restart.....after 11 turns. 11 turns of micromanaging!

It makes me mad because I micromanage so much, and try to get everyone in the right spot, that I often overlook one character and they die. The chapters are too hard for you to make any mistakes now and the only way to win is either insane strategy skill or luck.

I let my guard down at a time where I thought that it would be okay. Sadly, the Black Knight's appearance caught me completely off-guard since it's been months since I played this chapter last. I still have to plug away and beat that chapter again. But I know I will eventually.

Ooh, and judging by one of the scans I found before... It looked like bows can be used close-range or something. High chance I can be wrong, through. As well, the knife is a separate weapon.

Yeah I really would like to know who the Black Knight really is. And I doubt he died in PoR... However, his overworld model did disapear after Ike defeated him, and that wasn't being the case when you defeated Ena and Muarim (sp?).

Still, Zelgius being the Black Knight?? I don't know... They are similair, that's for sure... Maybe they are related, or did Zelgius also train under Greil? But I always found Begnion to be a little vague, and I didn't liked the whole atmosphere of that country in PoR... That's why I like that in FE10, Begnion is the enemy. >:3

I also would like to see Ike back again. But this time, also as a Hero like Greil. I almost know for sure that Ike would side himself with Gallia... Perhaps Astrid makes an apperance too, since Sothe could support her in PoR.

It's been confirmed that FE10 will have at least twice as many cut-scenes as its prequel (so, at the minimum, 12).

Also, the game is said to be about 1.5 times, or roughly 44 chapters, long.

on average: 1 cut-scene for every 5 chapters

Goddess of Dawn:
44 Chapters
12+ cut-scenes

on average: 1 cut-scene for every 3.6 chapters

What do I do? I want and need Shinon.

I hadn't used Rolf at all in the game so I just kept him out of the battle until I was right next to Shinon, then I let him out. He nearly died though.

Shinon, even though the fact he's a pre promoted unit is awesome! He has low base stats, so in the beginning he's weak but his grows are great! On par with the laguz units I daresay. Too bad he died on my file... But the next time, I'll use him and safe some Bonus EXP up for him.

Heheh, my Brother started playing my old FE7 recently. He got to the final chapter and got slaughtered. I kept telling him to never use Marcus but that boy dont listen. His funeral. Well it was as his units all got massacred.

I started a new game on PoR a while ago. I messed up on quite a few things, like attacking the Black Knight Night from afar, and not giving volke any exp. I had quite a few very strong units by the time I finished, but I wished I'd had better.

I think you're giving Shinon too much credit. Yes, as a pre-promoted unit, he's quite good; but Rolf definitely has more potential than him to grow stronger. (of course, Shinon is definitely cooler - no denying that :P).

That said, yes, Marcus is horrible. Seth and Titania, when used later in the game, are easily solid units in your line-up.

Rolf can whip up just about 90 damage with a single arrow using what I did. If both happen to hit, that's 180 damage right there. As well, he's an archer, meaning that he's bound to be a good dodger. I don't use him 100% of the time, but he's still a valuable part of the team. Chapter 26 is a great way to prove his worth since it's an open field and you can group up into many formations.

You could also give him a brave bow. That's four attacks instead of two. Ike was easilly my best unit (excluding the lion dude), with that one axe guy you get early in the game being my second best.

Okay, the stats make sense now. That is really awesome, but I'm not sure if I want to devote all that time into training Rolf. Though maybe this could be where those extra experience points will come in handy.

I could be giving Shinon too much credit. =P But I still think he's better than Rolf in every way except evasion. In all the playthroughs that I've used Shinon and Rolf, Shinon always turned out better. Rolf always gets better avoidability, though.

Well to me it doesn't appear that only Begnion and Gallia are at war. Yes it was the Lion king with Ranulf standing there, but in the sky there where hawks and ravens. Also at Zelgius's side there where Wyverns, so maybe Daein is with them to?

You should also check around a little at the main site, you'll see another small movie with Sothe and Miyaka. Btw, Miyaka seems to be the main Lord not Sothe.

And I'm happy there are more Lion Laguz out there! Lions are by far my favorite Laguz types. I wonder what happened to King Caineghis though, Ranulf was at the side of Schriml, so I assume he agrees with the war...

Maybe Schriml is the new King of Gallia? Since it was mentoined in Path or Radiance that the Laguz Leaders are choosen by power, not by bloodlines. Schriml sure looks powerfull! I don't know for sure if it is him but, in one scan Micaiah is fighting an huge Lion Laguz with 75 HP, hit rate of 100% and would do 42 damage. o_O; Micaiah had 60 HP btw.

I'm also happy that Jill returns. However, what happened to her wyvern?

This is footage of the Opening scene and battles in FE 10. IMO it just looks like a slightly updated version of FE9 for the GC. There doesn't seem to be any new gameplay mechanic that would revolutionize the FE series which might be a good thing. Take a look.

That said, this is still the same FE we all know and love - most of the "upgrades" seem to be in the detail in the game, things that enhance the presentation. For example, some of those new battle animations are freaking sweet (my favorites are Sothe's and Devdan's), there seems to be more customization in creating your new weapons. Also not really shown in the trailer is that the game will be divided up into parts, similar to how the original Fire Emblem for GBA was divided up into Lyn's story, and then Eliwood's/Hector's.

I'd agree that it looks like they're building more on the style of play from FE9, rather than changing it altogether. But is that really a bad thing? It was fun to play before and will probably be more fun now.
Not only that but you could argue that there are only so many ways in which you could change a strategy game like Fire Emblem.
