And really, what's wrong with that? The whole saving the world element is the basis of most RPG's, and I think it's a great theme.
It's how the game uses it that truly defines it. Take Golden Sun. You've got the elements and alchemy. Fire Emblem focuses on Dragons and also Quintessence (in a nutshell).
These "unearthly" aspects are what defines a game.

But let's get back on topic.

I think FE is one of the best spent $30 in my life. Its gameplay is smooth and the storyline is fantastic. I also have FFTA and i like it. But its sometimes confusing with the 3-D surfaces, the battles arn't as cool as FE's, and it has a crumy storyline that has been used in a lot of games. Also, FE is making a sequal to its game :D when the creators of FFTA seem to have left it <_< .

Karel is better than Karla. But Guy is generally the best swordmaster.
Bartre, you mean Wario? Go figure. They have a kid named Fir together. Seriously.
I like Harken, since I like heroes. But Karel has the Wo Dao, and Harken comes with a brave sword...
If you are playing Eliwood's story, he is automatically promoted in a later chapter. Same with Hector in his story.

Hom many there are... a lot. Well over twenty. A few characters you can only get in hector's story (Farina, Karla...)... plus, you sometimes have choices (Karel/Harken... Wallace or some other dude...)

19xx, yes. that is correct. But Nils must be level 7 by the end of Lyn's route.

Eliwood/Ninian, cg scene and ending... get a level A support between them.

Legault or Matthew? The former is better as an assassin... but I promote Matthew because I like him more.

Erk or Pent? Hmm... usually Erk, since you level him up and promote him. But Pent is actually pretty decent to. Either one anima user is fine, really.

Best Lord... Hector, possibly... he is a tank, and the most powerful lord in FE history (plus he has an Axe)... but really, Lyn and Eliwood are also powerful lords. Lyn can use bows when promoted, and is quite fast. Eliwood becomes essentially a powerful Paladin (a Knight Lord).

Lucuis or Renault... Lucuis (but beware, he has the lowest defense in the game). But Serra is the best light user, in my opinion.

Edit 2: Doh, one more! (sorry...) Priscilla or Serra... matter of preference. Priscilla more, since she is a mounted unit. But the former is anima, latter is light... Serra has AMAZING resistance... just a matter of preference in the end...

Bartre or Dorcas... I generally dislike Fighters, Warriors, Berzerkers, etc. but I'd go with Bartre, since he is stronger and you can use him to get Karla.

Yeah, you have to beat Eliwood (normal) the first time around. That will unlock Lyn Hard, Eliwood Hard, and Hector (normal). Beat Hector's normal route to get Hector Hard.

And yeah, Guy's the only swordmaster you'll ever need. He and Raven (Hero) are an UNBELIEVABLE duo... shame they can't support...

Con sidering that i hate most tactics rpg's because they're boring, this game ROCKS! I mean i actually like it. I've had it for a week and i'm on chapter 18(Dread Isle) but i lost too many people so i'm starting a new game. This is one of the best games i've played, and i dont even like tactics

Hmm... Marcus, Isadora, Karla, perhaps. But Pent isn't too bad (if Erk ever failed to be good for me, I'd use him). The same for Harken if you didn't train Raven (and even so, Harken is still pretty good, especially for a "pre-promote")

I don't have the game, and I haven't gotten very far in it, so my opinion is uneducated, but I think that Wallace is cool. I liked using Florina as a transport by "rescueing" other characters and dropping them off in other places. and I liked Lucius because he can attack people 1 or 2 spaces away.

Wallace... I've been meaning to ask. If you play Lyn's route (Hard), you don't have to promote him. If you do get him later on (assuming you get him rather than another character in a later chapter... whom I forgot), is he a good unit? I just realized something... I have always trained Kent as a Paladin (this time around, I'm trying to use Sain). But I've always wondered about Lowen. How does he compare?
And, speaking of which, how does Sain compare against Kent? I thought Sain had greater strength or something...

Lowen is actully a really good unit once he's a paladin. He's one of the best paladins you get, if memory serves. But i usually never use him. In the beginning, he isn't that good.

Sain does have more strength then Kent, but he really isn't that good. Kent has a MUCH higher skill then Sain. But Sain is better with lances(D) then swords(E.) Kent's skill with swords and lances are vise-versa. I perfer Kent over Sain.

Yes, I do think it's better then Advance Wars.

1: Better, deeper, more complex plot. Has more to do with simply beating the bad guy. You can get mixed up in politics, other people's emotions, etc. . . The games just have an epic feel.

2: Gameplay: More complex. The way that every weapon you have is good against something else gives everyone a use. That and it's not just brain, it takes brain AND brawn to win.

3: Music: Orchrastrated. I like that in any game (if it fits)

Just to add, Harken/Karel are quite good: if you didn't train either Raven or Guy, they can easily fill in a position for a Hero or Swordmaster. One time, however, I made the error of getting Harken when I had already trained Raven... not that he's bad, but I'd rather have a Swordmaster and a Hero rather than two of each.

Blargh, I'm getting ahead of myself. My favorite magic users are Nino, Serra, and Erk.

Yeah, she mastered the chants orally from her real mother. You learn that in Erk/Nino support B. And she's a great Mage, great speed and magic. She is well worth the training. But Erk or even Pent will do if you don't wish to (that rhymed :o )

FE does the same to me too..... This does sound embarassing to people that have beaten Hactor's Hard, but how do you get all the item that are in the ground without dying?!? To tell you the truth, i've tryied this chapter like 10 times already... :( Its hard to get the guilding ring from that guy and stil killing him in the same turn. Then theres like 6 or 7 sages and shamans that come in and wipe the floor with my Guy and Raven... :D I have tryied keeping my guys back until i defeat all the reinforcements, but someone ends up died all the time. :o .. Any tips that will help?
Just so you know, my party i brung is as follows: Eliwood-L15, Lyn-L14, Hector-L17, Guy-L11, Raven-L12, Owsin-L20/2(im thinking about not bringing him next time), Serra-L3, Canas-L15, Erk-L14, Legault-L13, and Florina-L12

Yep. Nino's well worth the training (easier with the Afa Drops). She is the best magic user in the game (in terms of stats), like Eugine said. All your Anima needs!

Now, for light, I'd go with Serra- she has great resistance, decent magic/speed, and her personality is HILARIOUS!

Well, I agree with Fiora and Guy... Oswin (until BLL informed us that Wallace is better *still in shock* :!: ) and Canas. Pent is good, but Erk and defintely Nino surpass him. However... Dart/Hawkeye? well, they are the best of the bunch of axe-weilders (Pirates and Warriors and such). But I have never trained one (except for Bartre, to recruit Karla... which I failed :agitated: )

Redo chapters? Well, Chapters are just a part of the plot, really. You can't redo them. And to get characters to 20/20:

First of all, decide on a few characters to level up and focus on them. Some characters I have never used, for example, say... Dart, Geitz, Isadora, Renault, etc. But don't have too many other characters... like... arrgh, can't exain it. But there is no point in having, for example, Pent, Erk, Nino, AND Priscilla; they are all Anima users, so decide on one, maybe two max.

Okay, then... make sure to fight all reinforcements, use stat-increasing items wisely... use Arenas... and such...

and thanks MW, guess I'll try Wil/Rebecca.

Wallace is NOT better than Oswin, A level 2 General Owsin has better stats than a level 4 Wallace, Wallace only has better luck... I don't know where you got that from BLL...

The only possibility that can be is that Wallace has a higher growth rate than Oswin, I'm going to max them both to make my final conclusion.

Well, what about your other units? I used to train Snipers, especially Rebecca, but as I progressed through the game, I started using them less and less. So, if it's only Rebecca (among units that you'd use), then don't worry about it, restart the chapter only like Eugine said.

I always level my long range units for castle levels, levels with walls, and so forth. They are also useful for taking out flying units (Wryverns anyone?). But Nomads, though a bit weaker, have better movement and use swords when they promote. I usually bring Rebecca and Rath for archer support.

I have maxed them both out (20/20).

Generally what happened to me was that Oswin's luck and speed didn't max out. Wallace's did. And all other stats basic for General's (str, def) were equal. My Wallace also came out with better Res, not maxed out, but still higher then Oswin's.

It's just luck. Like a 50% chance to increase speed per level, a 25% chance to increase resistance per level, etc. You just got lucky and hit the spot a lot with Wallace and not with Oswin, Lyn.

OMG you guys are so wrong. Fire Emblem is a load of crap. Slow, boring, unoriginal storyline. Crap Gameplay, graphics could be way better, sound is ok, in battle visuals are ok I guess, but the gameplay is shocking, very little gameply. BIG waste of 70 bucks and I really do regret it now. EVERYBODY raves about this game, but I can't see why, it is a load of tripe. FFTA is ten fold better, much better gameplay, graphics, audio (music and fx), the only flaw is the semi-unoriginal story in FFTA. Trust me on this people. FE is garbage, FFTA rules!!!!!!1

Im just ganna restart the game and put my other file in a different save slot, so if I do worse then before, I'll still have that file. But the proplem is, after a while I start to lose focus and I usually die. Also, my Florina dies sometimes and it really frustrats me, so i don't really play till like 2 hours later... Another thing, is Florina really worth lvling up? Why?

And Florina is defintely worth it (her sisters too). She is weak in the beginning, but like Eliwood, she does get better. Give her a Delphi Shield to protect her against Archers/Snipers and I like giving her Angelic Robes to boost her HP. And a body ring to boot.

Which one has the best growth rate though? Farina, Fiora, or Florins though? I know that Fiora's growth rate in skill is good, but what about the others. Can someone rate thier growth rates for each attribute?

Edit: Is it true that if you triangle attack with all three sisters, the last one will always do a critical?

I have something to ask, can a 20/20 Falconight defeat a 20/20 Wyvern Lord? I think a Wyvern could mop the floor with the Falconight... All though i perfer Falconights better because they can use swords when promoted :D .

And GameGuy... there are only two Wvern units you get... Vaida is the Marcus of Fliers (read: useless) and Heath... I've never used. But I think he is similar to Florina in stats...

It's all about perference.

Farina = High Str and Def
Florina = High Speed and Avoid
Fiora = Balanced

What GL meant was that you get her prepromoted, and your other units will pass her easily once you level them, because she gets no experience.

Yeah, Vaida is not worth leveling up for that reason. And I prefer using Fiora out of all the fliers because she is the most balanced and I like her character personally.

I always thought Heath was like Florina the most, in terms of stats…

Also note that Falkoknights have great resistance, making them very effective against magic users. All fliers are vulnerable to bow users, but Wyvern Riders/Lords are also weak against magic.

Ok good, because the file before last, my first file. I lvled her up and my Eliwood was at lvl 14 or something. Also My Lyn was lvl 2 Blade Lord, and Hector a lvl 5 promote( i forgot what it was called.) Anyway, my other guys, exept Owswin, Marcus, Canas, and Pent stunk. I got to chapter 29 and i couldn't bet it. Now on my third file, im on chapter 16x with A hector lvl 7, a Lyn lvl 8, and an Eliwood lvl 7. My Lowen(lvl 10 and has 10 def!!!) and Rebecca (lvl 7 and has awsome speed). Really the only proplem im having so far is trying to kill all the guys in CH16x.

I almost had it today, but my Lowen died ;) ( I knew i shouldn't have used the horseslayer thingy near those pirates..... :D ) Also now im trying to alternate between using Serra and Prinsilla so that I'll one: have the best bishop in the game that has a high lvl staff skill., and two: have a good Anima user that can move far and has a high lvl staff skill. This way, they both get EXP.

Then, with Hector, lure him into the bottom right of the map, and then when he is at the bottom right, have Hector run up and the falcoknight (which should've been done rescueing Matthew by now) rescue Hector and fly away into the sunset.

Anyway, I find it hard to lvl Florina up. She really isn't that good at the begginning and shes only lvl 10 and im on Chapter 17(Pirate Ship.) I have been trying to train her, but she's hard to. I'm trying to let her kill the swordmans to the left without dying. I put my Rebbeca behind her but it isn't enough. Whatever, Ill just have to try again... :blink:

I tried using Ninian to lure him out (forgot to mention which “her” it was in my previous post, sorry). At a high level, she is almost untouchable (almost, on rare occasions, doesn’t cut it :mellow:, I’ve found out). . .

And GameGuy, Florina does start off weak, but she does improve greatly. Her skill is great! But if you want strength, go for Farina (only in Hector’s mode). But I prefer Fiora, because she’s very well balanced, and I like her character.

Aww, you should remove Canas and put in Lucius :silence:! I usually just train Canas in 16x and evolve him, and use him only on Nergal. But Lucius my brother, is more efficient in normal battles.

Hey, Erk's not in there :P Erk always works for me (until Nino comes in, of course).

Actually, if you use Priscilla, then train Lucuis. If you use Serra, then have Erk/Nino in your party. This way, you always have at least one anima and one light magic wielder...

And I prefer Kent to Lowen (while Lowen is a tank, Kent is more balanced and has nice, at least decent speed).

Yes, but she is worth the training. Ah well, Erk and Priscilla are there for all your Anima needs. Even Pent is decent (despite the fact he is prepromoted...). If you failed to use Erk (or he didn't turn out well), by all means, use Pent.

Erk is all right at best, but my preferred Anima users are definately Nino and Priscilla (though I hate Priscilla's personality).

DON'T TAKE VAIDA IN HECTOR'S HARD MODE!!!!!

Give him a sword or something (perferably iron). That way, his avoid will go up and he can also weaken the enemies so your weker units can kills them. You could also send another unit with him so to share the damage.

Well, you don’t need both Heroes in your party (Raven is slightly better, but only so). So, consider substituting Harken (or Raven, if he turned out worse) for another unit…
Also, about Hawkeye- I myself don’t like using Berzerkers or Fighters, but he isn’t too bad I guess… he and Bartre anyway…I guess it’s just preference…

And by the way, Lowen is also a tank with legs <_<

I have noticed this! The only propblem in he has low resistance <_< ... Also, to tell you the truth, i think Berserkers, Fighters, Warriors, and Pirates are bad. Hawkeye is pretty good though ^_^ .

Edit: You've got it wrong, my Harken carries a Killer and Steel Axes, when my Raven carries a Silver Sword, Light Brand, and a Killing edge. One carries axes, the other swords. Thats why I said they where a good duo.

I don't see any problems with your strategy. The only problems is that your healers aren't level 20 or close to level 20, and Canas isn't promoted. That is all.

I suggest you at least still do Lyn's hard. That gives you an oppurtunity to have a better Wallace and a powerful Lyn (mine's came out at level 17) at the end. Also gives you a chance to level up Nils/Ninian.

Good Things : Your team seems pretty balanced and could survive a good amount of situations. . . but there are some bad things.

Bad Things: 1: Both Guy AND Karel? Not a good pair, as Karel can get killed and hit at level 20. Guy can't. If you didn't use Guy, that'd be fine though.

2: If it were Hector's story, I would've gladly gotten rid of Oswin for Farina. But for Eliwood, I'd rather use Raven, but since you have Guy, then you're fine.
