Any of them will work, although finding FE and FE:SS might be a challenge. I'd recomend PoR. If you never played FE before, it has a fairly level learning curve, RD has a high one if you never played it before.

Sacred Stones was great. It wasn't all that hard either, and it was pretty much the first FE game I've owned. Besides, all of the FE titles up until PoR and RD have been in 2-D, so it seems like a logical place to start IMO. But PoR is great aswell, and RD is fun once you get aquainted with the series.

Wow, my Micaiah's team really sucks! XD I'm in chapter 3-13 now, and the Laguz soldiers are ****in' doubling Nolan, almost One Hit Killing my Edward and Zihark (who'll critical them afterwards, causing another soldier to kill them), I didn't recuit Aran (or Meg for the mather), Laura and Leonardo died, Tauroneo is worse than the NPC Generals, Micaiah can't leave her spot (lucky her, otherwise she'd get killed FIRST) and Sothe's Spd is just 22. Jill WAS good, but I recuited her with Haar and now's she's in Ike's team leaving this whole chapter up to the NPC soldiers, how much do I suck?

However, my Ike's team is ****in' awesome and is actually fun to play with! Whenever I need to do a mission with Micaiah again, I feel myself enjoying the game far less. God, even my Mist could probably solo my Micaiah's army... >_<

Anyways, 3-13 really isn't that hard. As a matter of fact, if you don't have any good units, keep them behind the green line and depend on the ballistas and Micaiah's Purge to prevent the hawks from trespassing the line. Doing this, it isn't hard to persevere.

I'd heal him, or kill the weakened enemy with Micaiah but if does a critical (which he does a lot thanks to his Adapt skill and Killing Edge) he'll get killed by the next laguz... O.o And yeah, I shoudl've kept Jill in Micaiah's team. Also... does Ike or Soren actually move in that chapter?? I'm screwed if they do... They support each other, Ike is lv 20/20 (which he should) maxed all stats besides RES and Soren's about lv 20/20/6...

They won't move until the second to last turn, when the rest of the Greil Mercenaries show up. Even then, they won't make it to the green line. If you had Nolan and Zihark at Third Tier with an A Support, they wouldn't be able to get hit (+45 Avoid is ridiculous).

It's the last chapter you use them in Part III, anyways. If you want them trained, then...try your best. :lol: Make sure every area of access to the green line can be prevented.

FE6 also can be played in english via Emulator, but unless you have the japanese FE6, it is illegal to possess the ROM for more than 24 hours. That being said, I've had the ROM on my computer for a few years..

Make sure to play PoR on normal or hard. If you have easy data, you can't do a compleated game transfer for RD. And keep any Coins you find in PoR, don't sell them. They transfer over too and can be used latter in RD for weapon forging. I plan on starting a new game in PoR to do just that after I beat RD for the first time.

I don't think that I'll play PoR again after beating Radiant Dawn... I dunno but, the visuals and the way the game plays is so addicting that I don't want to return to playing old PoR again.

The characters look a lot more personal in RD (like mounted characters don't always wear helmets anymore) and the battles are more lively in RD. That, and some character's backgrounds (like Ashnard, the Black Knight and Sephrian) are reveiled in RD that sort of ruin their apperance in PoR.

Anyways, I'm in Chapter 4-1 now. I play this game too fast... T_T Don't wanna complete it yet.

Naturally. Edward becomes difficult to train in Hard mode, seeing as the weapon triangle doesn't take effect on that mode and the enemies will one or two shot him pretty much always. Zihark is easier to train, has the Earth affinity, and is great all around.

I'm basing most of my opinion off PoR, so I like Zihark and Stefan best. I'm still working my way through RD, but I'm still on Part I, and have started a second play of PoR, as well as recently restarted FE7, and possably restarting SS soon. I'm working on fanfics for all three stories.

Anyways, the character difference between PoR and RD is noticeable. Mia and Titania got a lot better, but Oscar and Lethe got nerfed. Those are only a few examples, of course.

I more or less stopped using Titania right about after the prison break level. By then, I had other units to replace her with, and I stopped using her altogether after she capped, untill the last level where I used all my maxed characters. I mostly used swordmasters, sages, and snipers through the latter half of PoR. And Sothe.

How would you guys who've played it rate it, as far as Fire Emblem games? How does it compare with Path of Radiance?

I'd say both PoR and RD rate about the same. Both PoR and RD are actually my favorite FEs that I've played so far.

I have to agree with gsn, I like PoR, and so far RD a lot. They have more character development than the FE7 and FE8, which mostly focus on a very small core of three or four characters. And Por and RD have nice cut scenes with fairly good voice acting, which both FE and SS lack.

Actually, RD has the least character development of the FE games starting from FE6. Virtually all character development comes from supports; due to the fact that RD's support system didn't have any meaningful conversations between characters, character development is pretty much non-existent for all characters except the main ones.

I've been thinking, as dangerous as it is, that an action RPG of FE might be kinda interesting. You take your party and lead it through 3D environments to victory. I just don't knoiw how well it would work out. As big as FE is, taking a succesfull game and moving it to a different genre often is a mistake. I heard C&C Renagade, a FPS editon to Comand and Conquer, sucked balls. So takeing a TBS game to action/adcenture might not work out to well.

What do you guys think, and PDM and Laharl, keep your comments to yourself.

Wait....why does the earth affinity matter (I'm guessing it influences stats), and the weapon triangle becomes null and void in hard mode?

What about a real-time based strategy RPG? Imagine if each character in Fire Emblem was in command of a "unit" of actual troops, and you actually had entire armies clashing. It wouldn't work well if it was turn-based, because it would take a long time to move and attack with so many troops, but if it was real-time and you can select where the entire unit of troops go (each one led by an actual character), I think it would be pretty neat.

Maybe if you were able to comand the troops, but from a first person view? i.e. you'd see it through Ike's eyes, and you'd direct your troops to do things while you yourself would be running around and killing people.

Damn it, I remember seeing a game kinda like that. You set up and place your army in a god mode setting, then start the attack and lead it from the front lines.

Perhaps a battle system similer to BW, and you can jump from character to character.

The Earth affinity is, by far, the best affinity in the game because of it's great Avoid bonus.

-When Earth is paired with Fire, Heaven, Light, or Water, the units gain +7.5 Avoid for each support level.
-When Earth is paired with Dark, Lightning, or Win, the units gain +10 Avoid for each support level.
-When Earth is paired with Earth, the units gain +15 Avoid for each support level.

When two units who support each other both have the Earth affinity, their rank A support with grant them a +45 Avoid bonus, which is extremely awesome. There is absolutely no affinity better than Earth.

Also, yes, the Weapon Triangle essentially disappears in Hard mode.

Save your Master Crown for when your first unit reaches level 20. I highly suggest using it on Shinon, Titania, or Mia, depending on who hit level 20 first.

Yeah, it's only for second tier to third tier. Also, you'll play as the Dawn Brigade right off the bat in Part IV, so don't worry about recruiting them. Everyone joins up in the final chapter of the game anyways, but you'll se what you need to do in Part IV before then.

Anyways, even I had a ****ton of third tiers in 3-Endgame, so it was awesome. 3-Endgame is also definitely one of my favorite chapters in the game.

I lost my copy of SS a while ago, and it sucks because I had a kickass team. I think I was at the part where you have to defend tbe northern-most castle (can't remember the name).

I had spent a LOT of time in the Tower of Valni (or whatever it was called) leveling up two of my three underclass units (the ones that have two class changes instead of one). Thanks to that, I had a level 10 berserker with a killer axe (or battle axe, or

. He carried all three), and a General with one of the sacred lances (along with a few other lances). Those two were able to handle most of the enemy units at the front thanks to their stats. The first thief that you get was an Assassin who either OHKO'd or critical'd almost every time, and he backed up those two after taking care of the units in the bottom-left corner.

I also had the underclass magic user as a Druid, and he along with Seth and my Bishop take care of stragglers and heal.

Everyone had nearly max stats except for Ephraim, who I had just promoted.

Raidant Dawn was awsome. Better then PoR in some parts I reckon, but not as good a story. The tower wasn't that hard as long as you were patient and healed everyturn pretty much. I did hate the little wrap up at the end, 3 puny lines for each character? Lame.

Aside from PoR, every single FE game ended with several lines explaining what each character did after. I do agree with you on the last part, though.

Well of course, you get an assasn that high, and his speed makes him untouchable. Acctualy, in PoR, thats what happened with Sorren for me. His speed got so high, no one could lay a finger on him while he droped spell after spell. Soren+vantage skill+adept skill+high speed = killer unit.

I never really focused on Soren that much in Radiant Dawn. In PoR though I had him super high. I think I maxed him out, but I am not sure I would have to check.

PoR was the first FE game I finished. My copy of FE7 kept screwing up and restarting, and I never bothered with SS.

I made Joshua a sword master in SS. I already had an assassin, and the swordmaster gets that awesome +30 critical hit bonus. Couple that with the killing edge, and you get the picture. :D

Paladins aren't as overbearing in FE10 than in the FEs before. Before Radiant Dawn, a Paladin-heavy team could destroy anything and was actually recommended. =P It's not a good idea to have more than one or two Paladins in a Radiant Dawn team.

Marcus is so Jeigan in FE6. I just looked at his growths for the first time and he doesn't have one growth above 20%, lol.

Ah, that level was nice. If you decided to hold out and defend the whole 15 turns instead of going after Ludveck, you got a good bit of experience.

By the way, now watch the game get a lot easier as Ike and the Greil Mercenaries kill everything.

I see they're trying to use 3D almost everywhere there's a character. The mugs should stay as 2D drawings imo, and the style used on the units in battle (when they're fighting at least) looks fairly similar to that of AW:DoR. It's not surprisng, but I'd rather see 2D stuff on a handheld and 3D stuff on a console, since the DS isn't capable of doing 3D FE justice. That's my opinion at least. I'll still get it as long as I have a DS though.

Finished Radiant Dawn today. What an amazing game... Definitely my favourite Wii game yet.

Overall, I had a lot of fun with it, I certainly liked it more than PoR(the only other FE game I've played). Better class and weapon availability, a ****load of playable chars. and chapters, a story ten times better than that of PoR... Still, I definitely disliked some things about RD.

For instance, the biggest problem about it is the absence of the old supports. I loved the PoR supports... That's what made that game good, while what makes RD good in my eyes is the much improved quality of the chapters.

Next up, it was really quite easy, mainly because of Battle Save, but also because all characters join you with HUGE stats and weapon levels, and they can pretty much all max all of their stats.

I also really disliked that so many of the old characters were playable, and the only one who wasn't was one of my old favourites, Largo! They could have had him as a Warrior or something, since they obviously dislike the (amazing)Berserker class so much, but noooooo, they had to go ahead and have ALL SIX of the old Paladins playable, ALL FOUR of the Swordmasters, and even have all pf the crappy hawks back, not to mention the completely unnecessary Giffca! Jeez...

Oh, and absolutely no character development. That kinda ties in with my support moan...

I actually didn't find any part of Endgame to be that hard. The only thing I worried about in the third part were

the white dragons, since at least most characters you bring along fare a lot better against Strength than Magic. While Red Dragons usually won't pose much of a threat, White Dragons can easily deplete your HP.

Oh yeah, Zihark + Nolan support totally saves your ass in Hard mode, BTW. I beat Hard mode once and it was because of their support that I could actually get through the DB chapters in Part III.

On the topic of Kurthy, I don't know, I visit a rather 4chan-esque Fire Emblem board where everyone is close-minded about what characters to use; I've developed a habit of only using Ike + Tibarn supported (rescue Micaiah with Tibarn, he has saviour) for the first chapter of the tower. For the second, put Tibarn at the top of the wall and Ike at the bottom of the wall so they can support and pwn BK with ranged attacks. Solo part 3 with Kurth and Ena. Chapter 4 and 5 just have fun with your royals and Ike (I bring Caineghis occasionally).

This is how I go through each Endgame chapter:

1) I send two units to the right and two units to the left to take care of the enemies there. As for the main path, I send strong units to form a single file line that blocks the Generals' way as my units advance. I have Micaiah on hand with a Restore staff to cure Sleep in anyone is affected. It's a fairly easy chapter; plus, you get the Double Bow, which makes your Marksman rape. <3

2) Have you tried giving Ike a Hammer? Max Strength allows him to deal 33 damage per hit on the BK compared to the 15 with Ragnell. Take the Wishblade from Levail before it's too late and kill the BK. Either that or you can stall the BK while your other units rack up experience.

3) Lol, blessed weapons FTW. If Soren and Micaiah have blessed Blizzard and Purge, respectively, then the Red Dragons get pwn'd easily. Physical attacks wreck White Dragons themselves. As for the boss, a Marksman, Ike, and two other powerful units (Maybe one of them with Dragonfoe) can murder him.

4) Super easy. The spirits are a joke and so is the boss.

5) You can beat this stage in four turns. Have

rescue a weak unit so that the boss can target all single unit attacks on him while Micaiah constantly heals him. Have your strongest units take down at least two walls a turn (Which is actually pretty easy) and then take down the boss by finishing her off with ike.

I don't get why FE7 gets so much praise. The difficulty is ricidulously easy in every mode except for HHM and the first ten chapters of tutorial are completely unecessary and could have been used for something better. Not only that, but the story really isn't that fantastic, although it's in no way bad.

I just solo'd chapter 8 with Ike at lvl13. I only had to use a vulnerary once, as he dodged litterally 90% of all attacks. He was at level 18 by the time all was said and done.


I'm going to do it over with more characters though. Ike really doesn't need the exp.

You know, transferring data from PoR to RD doesn't really have a point. The only thing that happens is that some of your characters have slightly better stats, and it's not like you need the stats since RD isn't all that difficult.

Oh, you also get to read all of the old support conversation whenever you like, but you will probably have one look at them and never approach them again.

EDIT: Oh yeah, for you to actually be able to transfer character stats your characters have to be level 20 of their promoted class.

^ I think that's only if you got to a level 'A' Support in Path of Radiance. Transferring that file will mean those characters will get a bonus +5% Critical (or other stats) if they're near one another.

That was probably the least favorite part of Radiant Dawn for me, the incredibly artificial and generic one-line supports between characters.

I could have ike at level 20 by then, but I prefer to let my other units get experience. I mean, seriously. What's the point in getting Ike up to level 20 so early, when it'll only be a waste of experience for every unit he kills?


And I can't remember. It's one of the chapters with the Greil Mercenaries. the one where you've just infiltrated some enemy camp, and you have to rout the enemy. It's in the dark, so you have to light the posts to get better visibility.

Lethe and Lyre join you as well.

There's also a few houses that you can visit.

Yeah, but once he's level 20 I just keep him on defense for my weaker units/healers. Trust me, I'm not stupid enough to waste EXP like that.

I know what chapter you're talking about; it took me like 4 restarts due to various people coming from the dark and killing a unit. I don't remember exactly what I did in the end, but knowing me I just boxed in my weaker units and progressed slowly through the map.

I think you're only given a certain amount of turns to rout the enemy, and with reinforcements, that makes things a little bit hard. I basically have been trying to keep the middle area more or less secured, and sending out Ike to the right, lethe lyre and someone else to the bottom left, Gatrie and someone else to the bottom right, boyd and Soren tot he top left, and having Rolf kill whoever he can on the other side of the wall.

But someone (usually Rolf, Boyd, or Lyre, iirc) always ends up dieing. Or I can't kill them fast enough. Or something.


And I find that if I let Ike get too much exp, my other units don't get enough, so they suck, and I have to send Ike out more to take care of things. But w/e
