I just beat chapter 25, and those boulders pissed me off. Of course, before I managed to even start the climb to the top, all the boulders but the three far right ones were lured out by my units. I had an easy time from then on. Ike grew three levels, and his skill grew on each level up. I'm gonna be unleashing Aether more often now (yay!).

Who here beat the Black Knight. I hate that battle with all my heart. It's all based upon if you can unleash Ike's skill Aether. If you can't against him your mostly screwed.

Anyone here have Fire emblem: Sacred Stones. I am currently playing it and I am enjoying but not as much as the FE game for the GC. I am on chapter 10.

I HATE chapter 26. Having 19 units is cool, but would be hell of a lot better if it had enough good members. Only half of the units I have are good. The rest are ok, but not good enough. Probably the main reason this chapter pisses me off is because of the Meteor caster at the top and the laguz that come from the left. Laguz have good defense as well as attack. My blitzkrieg strategy only ended up having to sacrifice Ulki, so I'm gonna try to revise it and tackle the chapter tomorrow ><;;

I don't have Sacred Stones, but I've played it before. Pretty cool, but not as cool as PoR.

Before I take on chapter 26 again, can someone tell me if this strategy is good: Have only Ike and Titania move up and lure all the northern units and their attacks to them, while the rest unleash the blitzkrieg from the west, and then go north towards the final boss.

There are four occults in this game

-You get one in a chest on chapter 13.

-You get another one from Stefan once you check up on him in the info page. Chapter 16.

- You get another one from Tauroneo once you recruit him. You can also steal it from him if you want.

-You get the last occult from the boss(Not the BK) on chapter 27. You can also steal it from him as well.

I suggest give the occults (master skills) to, Volke, Ike, a paladin of your choosing, and a general of your choosing.

If you think about it, the swordmaster occult skill seems useful for all those swordmaster-happy guys. I'm for sure giving Aether to Ike, swordmaster occult skill to Zihark, and lethality to Volke.

The Black Knight is such a cheap boss. Being a General with over 24 speed (I think it's 27, don't quote me on that) is pretty broken. His Alondite is great. His stats are amazing. And he has Luna. With max defense, Ike takes 49 damage if he activates Luna. Not good at all. And with a low bio-rythm, Ike will only deal 6 damage to him. <_<

I did manage to beat him, only because Aether activated 3 times in a row. It's the only possible way to do it. :silence:

No, it been calculated that if you can do 9 damage to him every turn ansd counter-attack every turn, and he doesn't get healed you can beat him.

ED's right. You actually do 9 damage with maxed Strength. I just won yesterday, and it all comes down to pure luck. Even though the bishops healed the BK on one turn, I still managed to pull off 3 Aethers to win.

With low-biorythm, I said. On an average, Ike should do nine, because both playthrough's, my Ike's had once strength, but the first time I defeated him, Ike was dealing 6 because of the low (negative) biorythm.

He has Renewal as well. More cheapness. <_< The only other unit I can think of who is that cheap (as an enemy) in FE History was Reindhart. . . giving out monster support bonuses to all his troops. And a beastly PRF weapon.

I can't remember any Legendary FE weapon of the past games that I've played that didn't have profound effect on those other than a great enemy. In FE:SS, the S level weapons (Seigmund, Seiglinde, Ivaldi, Nidhogg, Vidofnir, etc) were a major threat to monsters, so yeah.

Oh, and is it true that all main character weapons have a bonus against armour and cavalry? (Rapier, Wolf Beil, Mani Katti, Regal Sword, Reginleif, etc)

Pretty much, ever since Marth's Rapier. The Reginleif is the best of the bunch, by far.

PRF stands for Perferred. MT stands for Might.

The Ragnell does 29 or so damage pretty regularly. It's an above average legendary weapon, IMO.

I got Mist promoted as well, now. I'm probably not gonna use her much, but I'm probably gonna replace Reyson with her, seeing as Reyson is a pretty low level and all.

I would advise against that. Actually, why do you use Reyson solely as a healing unit? It is true, when he is adjacent to other units, he will restore HP, but his true worth is allowing other units to gain another turn.

And when he transforms, up to four adjacent units will be able to act again! Surely...

In Chapter 26, I'm keeping Reyson, Elincia, Rhys, Soren, and Ilyana dead center in the formation. My formation calls for the paladins leading and the otehr powerhouses surrounding. the healers are in the middle, placed so that only longbows can get to them, of which only one sniper posesses. That way, healers don't get smoked while healing and the otehr units stay to defend. I'm going all defensive there just because all out attacking isn't much of a plan. <_<

I already know about that. It actually took me a while to think about whether I should use Mist or Reyson. I may actually use Reyson instead...and that's what I'm gonna do. I just remembered that Soren can use staves now. Why use Mist? XD

I repeated very few chapters. I repeated chapters 8, 17.3, and 26. 8 because Oscar got raped, hard. Chapter 17, 3rd round because Gatrie was bombarded with magic spells. 26 because I was simply searching for a strategy until I found one that was right. In my case, that'd be Ike and Oscar/Keiran. I'll probably switch to that strategy on one condition. Do you gain EXP from Black knight? If so, I'm pulling Ike back, so that he can take those. It's no point wasting away experience on Ike while others need beefing up.

I didn't find Chapter 26 to be to difficult at all. It was all luring them to strong units and have my weaker ones finish them off (if the strong units didn't take care of them).

Bishops come at the end of the 2nd or 3rd turn, I believe. They use Psychic Staves to heal the Black Knight, so you just need to pray for those Aethers, and that the Black Knight doesn't activate Luna too often.

I'm excited to finish the game, but I'm a precise person and it takes me longer to beat a chapter than it would you guys. I just lost Mist on Chapter 21 so I'm starting over. It'll be weeks before I'm finished. <_<

I just found out that I made a critical mistake as well. When I changed Mist from a Cleric to a Valkyrie, I gave her the power to use swords rather than magic. I'm seriously regretting that decision now that I only really have two sages, and Mist's strength is a lot lower than her Magic Power. *shakes head*

Actually, she never gets the power to use magic. She automatically gets the ability to use swords, along with her staves. Well, that's what happened when I promoted Mist. Never got a choice in weapons.

I just finished watching the epilogue and credits. This game took me almost a month to beat, ever since starting it at the beginning of this month. I also did the first trial map, which was, unfortunately, another boulder map, and I could only use 7 units.

Oh SNAP! I killed black knight! Ike did Aether twice in a row to finish him off, first one dealing only 8 because the second attack missed. Next time, it was 8, then a big 28, killing him.

I'm just curious, but which did you choose? All three are incredibly powerful, and among the only units in the game that can actually damage the last boss. I've replayed the chapter several times over using Giffca, Tibarn, and Naesala, and they really all have different strengths.

You want to use flying units (like Jill or Marcia) to take out the enemies who are covering the boulders as quickly as possible. Besides that, just keep your advance cautious is all I can say.

And on a side note, all units regardless of defense, will receive ten damage (or at least that much) when they are struck with a boulder, so necessarily using units with high defense may not work. As Blade Lord Lyn suggested, you'd best advance quickly with any of your flying units to take out those enemy units who push down the boulders.

If you're worried about bow users (I can't remember if there are any in that level), then equip your flying unit with a Full Guard.

I remember the first time around, I challenged myself to beat the final chapter without calling on a Laguz Lord. It's very feasible... but certainly more difficult.

I can't wait until I attempt that again on Difficult mode. I am currently at Chapter 23.

My brother lost Kieran so badly it wasn't funny. On Chapter 26, he abandoned Kieran in between a mage, a myrmidon, and a wyvern lord. Kieran's only got a steel axe and he's a newly-promoted paladin.

Oh, and what are your views for best Laguz Lord?

I tried Naesala, which didn't fit me much. Dragon bit him bad while he was carrying Ike out of the way. Giffca wasn't bad, but I was unsure. That was also the time I fooled around and killed off my characters. I didn't try Tibarn yet, but his negating-enemy-attacks skills seem useful as of Chapter 28.

Well, Naesala's best attribute is his speed, so naturally, having him carry another character hinders him there. Also, his Vortex skill allows him to attack from two spaces away, and while not terribly powerful, is quite useful. In fact, he is the only laguz in the game who can attack from two spaces away, so that's a good aspect.

Giffca has a monstrous attack (40 when transormed) and is well rounded, and you can certainly have your fun with Roar.

Tibarn is especially well-rounded between the two. That, coupled with his Cancel skill to negate enemy attacks and Savior to rescue units without receiving a drop in his stats, makes him probably your better choice if you are really unsure (another advantage being, of course, that he is a flying unit and unhindered by terrain).

But again, you really can't go wrong with any of the three. I should point out, on a side note, that if you do not choose Giffca, he will be absent from the Illustrations available from the Extras menu, after you beat the game.

I decided to play through the game a second time. I just beat Chapter 6. The bands that the characters get help, especially since I gave the Fighter Band to Ike. His HP and Strength are pretty good already, and he's already at level 11 now.

Oh, by the way, for Chapter 25, the best way for me to get through was to lure as many boulders as possible on the first few turns, heal up, then begin the trek up. It made things much easier.

I kinda left Oscar behind in the first few chapters. It would probably have been worth it to train him but whatever. I like my swordmasters. I have three level 20 swordmasters in my party. (Ike is almost a swordmaster he would be 4)

I use Mist over Rhys for one reason: Movement.

By the end of the game I just use her and Elincia for healers, Rhys just tends to fall behind.

Her movement is definitely a great help. Combine her movement with Physic and she's a great healer that can heal anyone on the map.

I have Rhys, Mist, and Elincia as main healers, and Ilyana and Sopren as backup because they are in the fray, too. Elincia and Rhys serve as backup kill if ever the enemy penetrates my line of paladions and attacks my healers.

EDIT: Another question. A lot of people, most noteably Ike and swordmasters, seem to ahve moe than one critical.

Example: Swormasters have one where they tilt the sdword to one side, slide to the enemy, sword under enemy, then jump upward. A second critical is when swordmasters raise the sword horizontally and face it to the enemy then slide and horizontally strike.

I stopped using Rhys when I got Reyson, which was chapter 18, never used him again. I only used Elincia on chapter 26 because I had to. I got Mist to become a Valkyrie only for the BK battle. My healer eventually became: Soren. Yes, Soren. I gave him staves, and he actually became very competent using attack magic and healing at the same time. Gave me the opportunity for more powerful physical attackers.

I like the fact that some characters have more than one form of a critical n.n

Don't advance to quickly, first off. Usually that ends up being enough. Move cautiously, and check the range of your enemies constantly.

I'd say split into two groups - one going to the right, one going to the left. Keep your strong, attacking units in the front, while keeping your support units in the back.

When facing Ashnard, make sure you have the Psychic staff, so you don't have to have another unit besides Ike close to him.

Hope that helps.

Alternatively, you could sweep up one side of the field (left or right side, or up the middle garden) with all your units, remembering to keep the stronger units in front as BLL suggested. Remember to have Laguz-effective weapons, and also remember the magic types effective against each class:
Wind is effective against Flying units (i.e. ravens)
Fire against Beast
Thunder against Dragons (this is one is especially important in this chapter)

When facing Ashnard, remember that only a few units in the game can actually harm him: Ike, the dragon you have (either Ena or Nasir), and one of the Laguz Lords you choose in the chapter (Tibarn, Giffca, or Naesala). Yes, use psychic staves, or use either Elinicia (or a promoted Mist) to heal the attacker, and then to move afterwards.

I've been a bit curious about the song of release after I completed the game minutes ago, it sounds like a new language made up by IS. Pretty cool, if that's so.

My strategy for Ashnard is probably one that will least likely be used, but it worked excellently for me. All I did was send Ike and Naesala up the middle, tearing through Bryce and the other units until I reached Ashnard. From there, I took him out using only those two. As for my other units...never moved them. I was way too lazy. In other words: Ike and Naesala virtually solod the map.

The bad thing about this strategy: No one but Ike and Naesala get exp. (unless, like me, Ike was level 20). It would probably be best and split the others into two groups, like BLL said o.o

That was my original strategy as well. I sent Ike up the middle to fight Bryce but he ended up getting surrounded. It really slowed things down.
I haven't played for a few days as I went back to Sonic Rush (damn special stages). I'm gonna try and beat it today.

Well I've done it now. I wish I'd used Naesala from the start rather than Tibarn. He just seemed more useful. I wish Ashnard was a bit more diffucult as well. I guess that's what hard mode is for.

When I get to Ashnard for the second time, I'm going to choose Giffca instead of Tibarn or Naesala for two reasons: First, he's the only one I've never seen fight. Second, he's the only Lion you get in the game, so he's all good n.n

I heard that Eliwood is Roy's son, my friend told me that. And ME111, I've never played the first one, but if I could'nt beat a map in the second one(Sacred Stones), I just stayed on defensive all the time( Kept people with low health in back to be healed, high HP, high Def. in front) always worked for me, but you have to stay on defensive until all enemy units, including boss, are defeated. Hope this helps.

It's basically the same as the Black Knight, except it was Mist who healed rather than Rhys.

Berserk Ashnard does not appear in Normal mode (I've already played through that myself). I am currently on Difficult mode, and as far as I know that is when he uses the medallion to become more powerful.

I never knew he went beserk. I assumed that he would use the medallion but I thought it would be on all game modes. Looks like I'll have to play it again.

I must have skipped that part in the walkthrough, then. Anyways, I gave Soren a thief band for a few levels for the sake of good speed and skill (Adept all the way!) then gave him a mage band. I didn't bother giving Ike the fighter band because his resistance is rather poor, which is sad. Very much so.

It's not that bad. Ike averages a resistance of 16~18 at 20/20 (in my first playthrough, he was actually able to max it out at 22), and that's a lot better than many other units, for sure.

Ike's probably the most well-rounded character through most of the game. None of his stats are really bad.

I kind of got to an off start in my sencond playtrhough, though. Still level 14 Ranger and 1 resistance. It seemed bad at that point in time.

He's level 14 and only had a Resistance of 1? Wow, Ike's Resistance really does suck in your game o.o

When I used Ikeon my first playthrough, he maxed out Strength, Skill, Speed, Defense, and Resistance. Now, I'm on chapter 25 on my second playthrough, and his Resistance is 21 n.n

Currently near the end of my second playthrough, I have tried the Fixed Stat mode, and I have to say that I recommend it. To be honest, there isn't usually that drastic of a difference between the RNG and this mode; any way you play the game; as its name suggests, character's stats go up by a set amount. So in other words, try adding experience point to a character to gain a level and the same stats will have an increase.

There are factors that affect it, such as the type of enemy defeated and the weapon used and whatnot. Overall, I notice that a character's stats will be above average, but not necessarily the best. The typical RNG gives your characters the potential to be overly powerful, but at the same time the risk of being weak (i.e. your Ike with one resistance).

Strategy games would have to be my strong point. Most of the games I own are either strategy, or strategy/adventure, with the exception of GS, GS2, DKC3, KCC(kirby canvas curse), and Super mario DS. Pertty much the only action game I have that I'm good at, and I mean REALLY good at, is SSBM. Anyway, back to Fire Emblem.

Indeed. So again, as a side note, if you are worried about your character's stats, and that they may be weakened by the RNG, then choose Fixed Stat Growth.

Ike's recovering now. I gave him a talisman, it's like 8 now. It's still not too much, but it'll do for now. I'm trying to resist all temptation possible and only luring the Vigilantes out using Brom and not smacking the hell out of them. 2nd playthrough's very fun.

Yeah, my strength is probably sports games, which isn't all that much of a strength. I just lack motivation when it comes to strategy games like this where if a character dies you have to start the chapter over.

Plus it feels great when you complete a chapter that you've been stuck on for ages. I nearly went 'YES!' when I beat the Black Knight before I realised my parents were still in the room.

I haven't tried in a long time, so I'll take your advice and try again the next time I get my hands on the game.

Go up the left of the cliff. If you notice the map, there are fewer boulders there that roll down the path, so your characters won't be hurt as much. Don't worry too much about the boss; he has a Bolt Axe and a person with a high resistance (especially Soren) can handle him no problem.

Once you get to the top, clear out the enemies there and then push the boulders on the right side down to soften up the enemies down there, and then sweep through them.

Be careful about the Ballista at the top of the map, which tends to get criticals more often than usual... if you've leveled up a flying unit (namely Jill, Tanith, Marcia), equip them with the full guard and have them advance up on either side.

Marcia seems like a repeat of Florina with an inverted personality, really. I'm gonna try levelling her now. Peg knghts didn't seem useful to me in past FE's. With birl laguz in, I guess it wouldn't hurt to press on with a new class variety.

I just beat the game a second time, using Giffca this time. I have to say, the lion looks really...freaky looking, but still pretty awesome.

The only Pegasus type unit I ever used was Tanith (Falcon Knight).I never bothered with Marcia, since everyone could still handle bird Laguz on their own. Tanith and her reinforcements did an awesome job fighting Wyverns n.n

And remember, the experience that the reinforcement units get when they attack/defeat other units gets added to your Bonus Experience at the end of the chapter. Very useful.

Yes, but try not to overuse them. I prefer to use them only to take care of reinforcements that appear, usually at around the area where your units were first deployed. They take care of those units in the rear, while your main force proceeds forward.

Interesting choice for Reyson. I usually had Tanith equip it in my first playthrough, to negate the effects of Wind Magic and Bow users, and now in my second playthrough, I tend to give it to my beast laguz (Ranulf and Lethe, mainly) to offset their weakness to fire magic.

Reyson has a lot of things he's weak against, so it's only natural to let him have the full guard. Namely arrows, wind, and laguz weapons.

True, but also keep in mind that Reyson's resistance is high enough so that Wind Magic isn't as large a threat, and also, why would Resyon have to face arrows and laguz weapons? He's mainly used as an auxiliary and support unit, and as such, he probably doesn't need to ever even face an enemy in combat.

The Full Guard is infinitely more useful for Jill or Marcia (especially Jill). It turns Jill into a Mage/Archer destroyer. It's better let Lethe keep her Beorc Guard instead.

Yeah, the only weakness of flying units is eliminated with the Full Guard, it would be much better at least on one that can attack.

Comments: Yes, I am using Titania this time around. She may be this games "Jeigan", but her stat growth is phenomonal, and she proves to be fairly useful. Likewise for Mist; many might argue that she's weak, but promote her and raise her sword level to the point of being able to use a Runesword/Sonic Sword, and you have one powerful fighter.

Also, as a recommendation, a very good combination for skills (for Zihark) is: Vantage + Adept + Miracle, and equipped with the Brave Sword.

This means that Zihark will always attack first and at least twice (four times if Adept activates), and if he is fast enough for a second round, that brings him up to eight possible blows to the enemy, and all with a high chance of criticals. It's a sight to see, let me tell you :P

Knowing Zihark's speed, he'll msot likely attack 4 every time. He could also dish out an infinite hits so long as each hit gets an adept.

I just got Sacred Stones yesterday. It's a pretty good game, but I find the mounted units in the game to prove less useful (except Seth) than those in Path of Radiance. I think Seth is better than titania except for the fact that titania's stat growths are better. Joshua's pretty good, too n.n

Seth is a traditional Jeigan, though. A complete EXP hog. Don't let him near too many enemies.

Yes, the same with Titania, although she can actually prove to be fairly decent later in Path of Radiance.

Seth's growth's and stat averages are superior to all your other Paladin choices (Amelia doesn't count). If used in moderation, you don't need to use any of the others, and saves a valuable Knight's Crest. Along with already being promoted (thus having multiple weapon types), and already having A level in them both, he's a good unit, period.

I still need to buy Sacred Stones. Whilst I wait for my money to increase (veeeery slowly) I'm gonna ask you a question. Do you prefer Fire Emblem in 2D or 3D? I thought it worked well with PoR but I think I prefered the 2D look of the GBA games. I just thought I'd ask.

FE was presented very well in 3D. Cell shaded was the way to be. If only they stuck to the original styles of the characters, plus more cinematics.

Both are really fine. The presentation in Path of Radiance is good, but I feel it certainly could have been better. As Mars Djinni mentioned, there could have been more of those fantastic cel-shaded CG movies (they're absolutely stunning). The menus, the controls, etc. are just as refined as in the GBA games, and even more so in certain ways, especially with the ability to lock onto the ranges of multiple enemy units.

However, the animations in the battle sequences, for the most part, are stiff and lacking in detail. I actually prefer the animations in the 2D games.

Overall, however, both styles are quite fine and well suited for the Fire Emblem experience.

Critical hit variety was pretty cool, though. I think I mentione dthis before. It still puzzles me how this works. Ike does this spontaneous critical by jumping and somersaulting, hitting the enemy Zelda jump-attack style. He pulled off a complex version of that when he fought Black Knight at Delbray, at the end of the chapter where you had to protect Geoffrey. Geoffrey did a one-handed version of the Paladin lance critical, as did Oscar. The swordmasters have that raise-the-sword-at-eye-level-and-slash critical.

I wonder how this works...

Ahh, that's a good point. The criticals don't actually differ in attack, but simply in the animation. It's a subtle point, but it is worth mentioning, yes. In particular, watching Zihark raise his sword to eye level looks fairly cool.

Probably my favorite animation in the entire game is Volke's Lethality skill (via an Occult Scroll). Lightning quick, flashing red... very cool to watch.

I LOVE Lethality. That's one of the two best/most flashy battle skills, the other being Aether. Most of the support skills are really good too, like Adept, Vantage, and Resolve.

Now that I think about it, what really would have been a nice thing to have in Path of Radiance would be something like those training towers in Sacred Stones.

I am currently playing FE8:Sacred Stones and it's pretty fun. I like the variety of classes and I actually find it more challenging then FE9 for the GC. I find it challenging because I tend not to level up my characters by going through the tower or fighting in skirmishes.

Of course. They eventually become wearing. Besides, what makes the FE games so fun (and challenging) is the gameplay, not all the flashy battle animations.

Wow. I've spent most of the day switching from Fire Emblem on GBA to Path of Radience on Gamecube. I was on chapter 10 this morning. Now I'm on 15. (This is the GBA Fire Emblem by the way). I deleted my old file as I was going no where. I also decided that I would buy Sacred Stones when I finish this one. I'm gonna have awhile to wait. :P

Chapter 20 was fun. Myrrh obviously owned with her Dragonstone. Having Moulder and L'Arachael out there at the same time really helped. And I used Tethys for the first time. She's got that moving again thing, but Reyson was 50x better =3

I don't know what it is about this Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance game but it just can't hold my interest. I think I might be getting tired of the fact that when a unit dies I have to start over or maybe I'm just sick of Fire Emblem. Whatever it is, I've lost interest in the game for now.

I'm enjoying Sacred Stones. I'm on chapter 10 or 11 and I haven't lost anyone. I did miss out on recruiting one character but I'm sure I'll survive.

It really isn't too hard to keep your units from dying. The most common way a character could die is if all the enemies go for him/her (unless it's Ike, who's absolutely awesome =D).

The key is to play cautiously. The exception, of course, is if you need to accomplish a certain task (i.e Arrive) in a limited number of turns, but otherwise, just take your time to bring your units forward. Path of Radiance has the added useful option of being able to check your enemies' range, and to lock them in place; you can do this for multiple enemies, and you'll be able to ensure that none of your units are in any range for an enemy attack.

Then proceed. Being hasty and charging forward rarely works, believe me... Unless, as gsninja said, the unit is Ike, then by all means.

I think you could check the enemy movement ranges in SS too, but you can't check more than one and you can't lock them in place.

In battles that don't have turn requirements, you should utilize as much time as you need to turn the battle to your advantage. As GL said, if you're hasty and blitz the front lines often, you'll be screwed. Ike is one of the only units who can do that, though. His stats are excellent and he takes the front lines better than any unit except the Laguz kings, who can take front line combat just as well.

It is possible to check the range in all FE games for GBA and Gamecube. the GBA games won't allow you to lock, though.

What I'm saying is that in any FE game, there's no reason not to actually look at your enemie's range, instead of being random and hasty and charging forward. Path of Radiance just makes it that much easier to use than the other games, so there's little excuse there.

The only time I've actually sent Ike towards the front-line units is when he becomes promoted and learns Aether. Then, he truly is a warrior to be feared.

I send my 4 Paladins in the front. That's Geoffrey, Astrid (using a sword), Keiran, and Oscar, plus Boyd and Ike. The second row is occuppied by just Shinon and Rolf. The third are my healers and magic, namely Rhys, Soren, and Ilyana, folowed by 3 back-up generals Brom, Gatrie, Tibarn, and Tauroneo. I rarely use laguz other than the occaisional Reyson and Tibarn.

Interesting. I tend to go for diversity amongst my units. Typically, I send my Oscar, Ike, Astrid, and Zihark up front (Zihark has Vantage, Adept, and a Brave Sword, meaning in most cases, he can wipe out enemies before they even attack him). I do use laguz often, but mainly beast laguz (Lethe and Ranulf).

My other units have varied in my playthroughs, but Soren usually has a strong role, as does Tanith/Jill, Mist (who is surprisingly effective when promoted), and my laguz general. Oh yeah, and Volke. Lethality is awesome. :P

In my next playthrough (this will be my third), I'd like to try using the archers (Shinon or Rolf) and one of the generals you mentioned.

Gatrie would seem most promising. Tauroneo wasn't bad, but was a huge target, though I never had to restart a chapter because I lost him. That would be a good or bad thing, in a sense.

...That name... Lethality... It could have been better chosen. Silence would have been a more dramatic name, the name itw as given in Sacred Stones.

Really, only when he has the Ragnell equipped. I still think it too risky to send him out with just Aether becuase it doesn't come out very consistently.

EDIT: Also, I'd suggest you drop Soren. His horrible Str growth barely lets him use Wind effectively (as STR = CON in the game). Calil or Ilyana are much more reliable mages.

Ike was level 20 before the merchants and bonus EXP/support and crap options came available. Most of my other units weren't very high though. (6-15 *WHISTLLLLLLLLLE* I got them to 20 later ;_;.)

Yes, but that's all when maxed.

Ike's Averages - Level 1 Lord said:

(Anything in parentheses means it could be that as well since it averages as a .5 or .6)

Assuming you give him an Occult scroll right after he promotes, the chances he gets it is 17% (assuming it follows "Skill X .100" like other attack skills in other FE games). Also, none of his stats are above 20 upon promotion like some other units, making him barely passable as a front-line unit until level 10 or so (But that happens fast anyway).

I don't know about Fixed Growth mode though, I haven't tried it.

Just kill all the wyverns around him, then send a group of four stronng people to kill him. I believe it only took me Ephraim and Forde.

By the way, I made Forde a paladin and kyle/franz a great knight. I thought Forde would suffer and I felt bad for him, but in the end he ****ing pwned.

-_- I finally beat the Black Knight! It was actually really easy with Mist there because Ike was already a lv. 20, and Mist was a lv. 14 Valkyrie. I didn't get any critical hits but just chipped away at his life and healed every turn. I killed him before the other units could attack Mist.

I completed Sacred Stones a few days ago. The Demon King didn't seem that difficult to me. I just used all the sacred weapons as quickly as I could.

I haven't beaten the game yet. I'm on the chapter right after the Black Knight. I've let three characters die so far, which I regret, but most of the deaths have come from carelessness at the end of chapters. By then I just want the chapter done, so unless it is a vital character, I let them go.

I know what you mean. I'm reluctant to let characters go as well. I only lost about two in both Path of Radience and Sacred Stones. They weren't exactly key characters so I let them go.

Congratulations. On a side note, neither Ike nor the Black Knight is able to double attack or get criticals. Skills, of course, are another story (Luna/Aether, respectively).

It was interesting for me, as Ike only activated Aether once, and the rest of the exchanges were just regular hits by Ike... and actually, Mist is fairly powerful when promoted. Just raise her sword level high enough and give her a magic sword.

I managed to get two Aethers in a row, which was pretty lucky.

When I fought the Black Knight, I had Mist escape, since I never used her. I beat the Black Knight three times, each time was pretty much the same. Two Aethers was all I needed each time.

Alright, I finally beat the game last night. Ashnard was a whole lot harder than the Black Knight but I easily beat him the first time like the Black Knight. With Mist and Elincia being able to heal then get out of attack range, I was able to save every unit except Mia, my lv. 20 Swordmaster who was stranded after being put to sleep.

The bonus features are very cool but I don't quite get the Trial Map feature. Is there only one map or can you unlock more?

I think you can get more if you have the GBA games. You need to connect your GBA to the Gamecube to get them. Can someone confirm if this is right?

Alright let me state my troubles to you all.

I am on Chapter 19 on FE9 and of course I am trying to get the Knight ring from Nealsala(sp?). I am trying not to kill any of the crows but one crow starts off real close to me and I just murder him. Also I can't get to quick enough and the ballista fire isn't helping at all. By the way I am playing on hard mode. So help would be needed.

I would just say don't bring any flying units and try to beat it as quick as possible. That's what worked for me!
