Those are you hardest gears actually. getting into 3rd and into 4th is a piece of cake. You usually don't have to worry about higher gears unless your on a highway or your racing some one. xD

I'd suggest just having fun with the game at the start, then when you start to get into the thick of the storyline you might want to occassionally take an hour or two to stack on a few levels. And make sure you train your party equally, you'll need them.

One flaw that I've seen through the latest games, pretty much starting with ffxi (or tactics advanced, whichever came first XD): they've become too obsessed with their own world. Like they've obviously spent a ton of time creating intricate races and traits and ways that the world works and the civilizations, but really, you can't just put that in front of us and expect it to be enough. We actually need...plot. *sigh* that's why ffx is the best thing EVER. Incredibly well thought out world with impressive details, but an amazing plot and likeable (or loveable <3 tidus) characters.
