Yes, but that's not it.
Think of it this way:
You have a matress, a bowling ball, and a marble. The matress is space/the universe/whatever. The bowling ball is earth. The marble is some object floating around in outerspace.
When you put the bowling ball on the matress, it makes a depression. when the marble, rolling around in outerspace, gets close enough to the bowling ball, it gets pulled in because there's a depression there. The theory of why and how gravity exists works the same way. Heavier objects make deeper depressions, bigger objects mmake wider depressions. Smaller, lighter objects make smaller depressions, and are easily pulled towards bigger, heavier objects who make larger depressions.
Einstein discovered that pretty much on his own.
Does that answer your question, Eugine? :joy:

[EDIT] Anyway, as I'm looking into it further on Wikipedia, my brain is starting to hurt. I wouldn't suggest trying to study this until it just comes to you, and out of nowhere, you suddenly understand it.
Otherwise, there's an 80% chance that your head will explode.

Dangit....D;
I'm a poet and I didn't even know it!
I have junk and not a trunk,
Don't even try and lie.
I'll stand and run around, and then I'll hit you with a pie.
We all know that it's true,
so don't even try and sue,
Cuz then I'll be at your back porch, with a big 'ol bag of poo.

It makes no difference to me,
I laugh and cry all the same,
especially when I pee.
You may not find this funny,
but I sure as hell sure do,
So run along, and walk away,
For pies will soon persue.
