I never even knew about wavedashing and shineing until after I lost most interest in the game. I haven't had skills since.

I think I like the new set uo for the handicap. With the old one, I think it just ment more damage was delt, but this make it more balenced imo, when playing against less experinced players. I'll use it to start with once I get the game and play agianst others that don't play as much, but I plan to use my GC contoler to play, after I try the Wii-mote for a little.

That's not the case for me. I can easily adapt Wavedashing in my play, but the people who've played Brawl also say that Wavedashing would feel odd in Brawl if it was still there cause Brawl's not as fast paced as Melee was.

There was more a complicated way to do it, but it had not-so-desirable results for the effort put into executing it.

DI is well... the thing you do to controll where your going after being struck by a powerful attack or throw. You move your character while suffering with your controll stick to a direction to prevent the other person from either comboing you, and you can live longer by it if you press up when your about to die sidewards. Take a look around Smashboards or other profesional game sites with Melee info for more.

When it was slated for a spring '07 release, as PDM said, barely half, if even that, of the work was done. The understanding I have right now is that they're just putting the final touches on it. I see absolutely no reason for the release date to be pushed further.

There are many other titles that hav been pushed far more times than this. LoZ:TP for example. It was delayed numerous times. Besides, they have no reason to stop it from being released. It's practically finished now.

Sakurai's really trying to pack as many things as he can in the updates, huh? The more filler stuff means the more time he can bide to release info on some new characters, which is what everyone wants at this point. At any rate, the Ice Climbers' FS looks good and deadly, just what it should be.

I know it's frustrating, but it's better like this. We don't want the game's biggest secrets (the characters) to all be revealed right away - besides, some of these updates have been pretty good. Today's, for example - look at how much effort Sakurai's team has put in for the controls. There are so many customizations and options for us, and being able to record our own controller scheme and using it at a friend's place? That's seriously awesome, and we wouldn't take the time to appreciate all the amazing work that's gone into this game if we just keep on asking for new characters to be revealed.

That said, I don't think we'll be getting a character revealed this week. However, next Monday is December 3rd, the anniversary of the North American release of Melee as well as Brawl's former release date - it would be the ideal and best way to kick off the new month.

It was in one of the eralier updates. He said that the design of the menues weren't going to be the same as the ones in the screens. Though I'm not sure if this still applies since they'eve since released the demo.

For me graphics are just important as gameplay. If you go on the basis that you'd play a game no matter how crappy the graphics are, you'd be playing Pong and Pac man all the time. However I still think Brawl looks impressive, though that comes from not having any real PS3/360/Wii experience.

These graphics AREN'T the best the Wii is capable of. The Wii is capable of much better than this so I wonder if Nintendo is just slacking off and/or just aren't willing to budget more money in that department.

There's more to graphics than just the sheer technology behind it. Brawl is a major step up from Melee in terms of polygon count, shading, etc. but no where close to PS3/360/PC levels, true. However, even the most high-end, graphically impressive games suffer from inconsistent frame counts or slowdown, and that's one thing that definitely is impressive about Brawl technically - even with four characters on the biggest stage with tons of items, Final Smashes, etc. to process, it stays a fluid 60 fps - which is something that even the highest quality-graphic games on other consoles suffer from.

Being a "major step up" from a predecessor doesn't mean much, at least to me. It's pretty much a given in the video game industry that sequels will look better than the games before them. With that said, even with more advanced shaders, poly counts, the basics of making a game look better... Brawl still looks boring. Hell, Twilight Princess looks more interesting than Brawl, even if Brawl is a more technically advanced game.

What I'm saying is, even if Brawl has "more" it still looks like "less".

noob, I cant play n64 games because of the slowness of them. Playing Melee next to smash is painful, OoT next to TP just is crap. They were good for their time, but now they're realy dated. I play Snes stuff and nes stuff because it's not slow, and it's 2d sprite graphics. I would play LttP over TP any day.

With that said, even with more advanced shaders, poly counts, the basics of making a game look better... Brawl still looks boring. Hell, Twilight Princess looks more interesting than Brawl, even if Brawl is a more technically advanced game.

What I'm saying is, even if Brawl has "more" it still looks like "less".

It doesn't look amazing, but it does look better than melee. You can't ignore that. Plus, every once in a while, Melee would lag or me. So with only slightly better graphics, and far better processing resources, Brawl will look better, and perform better.

Besides, haven't you heard? Less is more. :D

Twilight Princess is a good example of that. At it's best, Twilight Princess is actually more interesting and eye-catching than Crysis at it's average (Not to be confused with Medium settings, I play on High settings). :P When I say it it's best, Twilight Princess looked strange and beautiful in the Twilight Realm or parts where Hyrule was captured by the Twilight.

Maybe Brawl will look better in action as opposed to screenshots. I hope so. I mean, either way I'm buying it.

I thought it was comming out in the spring. I'd actually prefer that they release a lot of crappy updates, because I'd like to have at least a few things a surprise. And yes, I could just not check the site, but it'd be a pretty crappy move by Nintendo to release a whole bunch of "OMFGFREAKINGAWESOME!!!11!1" updates just to leave the people expecting more when it's released. But there won't BE anything more if they reveal everything.

I think an awesome update every other week wouldn't be a bad idea. Maybe even once a month.

I'd also like to add to that and say that these updates aren't as bad as they seem - if anything, they're amazing because they show just how much detail and effort has gone into Brawl's development. Every little addition, every little update is a sign of how much the development team has truly gone out of its way to make sure that every bit of the game is as polished and refined as possible. It all adds up, and I don't think we'll truly be able to appreciate that until we have the game for ourselves to play.

Yesterday's update about player rotation gave me a neat idea for Smash - what if there was a "tag team" mode? Imagine each player being able to select three characters. The Brawl begins and when one player's character is KO'd, it's replaced with the next character in that player's roster, i.e.

P1: Link, Pit, Metaknight
P2: Mario, Ike, Ice Climbers
P3: Sonic, Lucas, Bowser
P4: Pikachu, Pokemon Trainer, Snake

When the match begins, you'd have (Link, Mario, Sonic, Pikachu) all in the Brawl. But say player 2 is KO'd - his next character in his roster (Ike) would replace Mario, so it would then be (Link, Ike, Sonic, Pikachu). If P4 is defeated next, it would be (Link, Ike, Sonic, Pokemon Trainer) in the ring, etc.

Well, that might be too complicated, especially since someone could just keep switching between characters and make it confusing for the other players. But if Sakurai could work around that (maybe imposing a minimum time limit that you have to play as each character), it would work.

And I agree, I'll be very upset if the Mute City stage is gone. I definitely prefer that to the Mario Circuit stage.
