Obviously, being the ridiculous biased Sonic fan I am, I'd disagree. I know the voice acting is pretty poor, but I thought 'Live and Learn' would be good in the game. I think it would work well as background music.
Still that's just my opinion.

I don't know if that means much, though.
If that that icon theory is true, Isaac's chances are ridiculously low. There are other characters that will fit into that spot, like Captain Olimar of Pikmin which has a huge chance of making it. I'm already pretty much convinced that Isaac isn't going to make it (and I'm not buying a Wii!), so when Captain Olimar is revealed under the 19th icon it won't be a big surprise to me.

As I said before I have something else that I want to get with that money as well (or more of saving it.) To be specific it's a saxophone. Which is something I REALLY want. Trust me, most people that know me would think I'm crazy that I'm even CONSIDERING buying a Wii over it.
There maybe plenty of great games on the Wii in the future. I'm planning on getting a job in the summer, so I can buy the Wii then if I really find it that worthy of my money.
Anyways, on the topic of Super Smash Bros. The DK video was actually slightly amusing to me. Really not worthy of a full update, perhaps... but I don't stay up for them anymore, so what does it matter? The PictoChat stage was pretty amusing as well... It would be better if you could draw the stages, though.

And personally, I highly doubt captain olimar will make it. He just doesn't seem to fit the part. Of course, there are other characters that got in who don't seem to fit the part. One of them being Mr. G&W.

Talking about Smash Brothers, I would be really happy if they add Isaac. However, I do realize the chances of that happening are rather slim indeed. I think he has a less of a chance than Lloyd from Tales of Symphonia. -sighs-

Holy hell your signature is massive.
And if you check gametrailers, there's an extended version of the DK video where you actually see Diddy and DK play in the Subspace. It's a cross between DKC and Tekken, where you have to eliminate all enemies before you can move on.
Dedede! Yay! Well it's settled, Sakurai is clearly playing by his list. We'll have Ridley net for sure.

I don't believe it's that slim. Sakurai had a poll, and there were two votes for Isaac. I'm hoping that Sakurai took an interest in him from that.
Anyways, Isaac needs to be revealed soon, if he's in. (although I doubt it. a lot.)
On another note I'm happy to see King Dedede. He's one of those characters I've wanted in the game for a long time now. (and the first to be confirmed.)

Metaknight: fast
Kirby: medium
King Dedede: slow
We've got all the weight classes covered, plus giving more representation to the Kirby franchise which is one of Nintendo's flagships (not to mention Sakurai himself created the series, or at least the character designs for all three, I can't remember which).

Exactly. Besides, having new characters never hurts either.
And look at that - 23 characters, new and old, are now up on the Dojo. 23 unique, 23 different characters that have been revealed four months before the game's release - considering Melee had 26 characters, and half of them were clones, this is a huge number. It really makes you wonder just how many will be in the final roster.

The ONLY thing I'm worried about, which is actually something that wouldn't have even taken any time off their hands, is more unique stage designs. The graphics and events are all fine and dandy (and both are done well too), but I just hope that they have some interesting designs or I'm gonna be angry. The stages in SSBM had more differences between them than setting and number of platforms, so why shouldn't SSBB's? As far as I'm concerned, the only differences between the already shown stages is just that. Setting and # of platforms. Save for about two or three of them.

Kirby's had quite a few games, which consist mostly of adventure games where you go around and suck up your enemies to gain their powers. In an N64 game, you could suck up more than one enemy to make special powers that had different effects than just one by itself. For instance, you could suck up a snowman and an electric guy to become a refridgerator which would spit out health recovering food that you hurt your enemies on impact and allow you to recover.
But I'd definately suggest getting Air Ride. It's a pretty fun game. =D
#1667
Posted 28 October 2007 - 09:30 PM
But that said, Kirby has always been an important Nintendo franchise, even if it was never as popular as Mario, Zelda, or Pokemon. Also keep in mind that in Japan, Kirby is a lot more popular than Samus is as a character, since Samus' appeals more to the Western markets whereas Kirby's quirky pinkness goes well in the Japanese market.

Just look at Kirby, Metroid, Donkey Kong Country and the F Zero franchises... Their main character was their sole representitive untill Brawl (and F Zero probably still will only have Captain Falcon) and then a third party franchise comes in and takes up two character spots while they didn't even got a thropy or anything in other Smash games. :(
Lyn is overrated and only popular in the western countries. Lyn also got the least important role of all the lords in FE7 as she didn't appeared in FE6, and after her prologue she wasn't as involved with the ain story as Hector and Eliwood. That she's even an Assist Thropy is already good fan service, since I doubt we'll be seeing a lot of different Assist Thropies, especially for Fire Emblem.

We're now at 25 characters counting ZZS and the Pokémon Trainer's Pogeymanz, that's just one less than what we had in Melee. Asume that we get Marth, Captain Falcon, Mewtwo, Luigi, Ganondorf, Mr.Game & Watch, Falco, Jigglypuff and (even though I'd hate to say it...) Sheik back. Then we have 34 characters. I doubt Sonic and Metal Gear will get another playable character, and I'm guessing we'll be gettin 1~2 more characters we never heard of...
And that'll be it.... Probably.

GnW was the WTF character, I don't see his return. Falco isn't going to come back, even though he was far better than Fox. Captain Falcon will be announced again, most likely. The Ice Climbers have returned, so I doubt they'll cut Mr.Game & Watch. That's probably means that every character with an original moveset will return that includes Mewtwo who deffinatly SHOULD return cause he's awesome but waaay underpowered in Melee.
Ganondorf will return. No doubt. Same for Jigglypuff. Falco I don't know it could go both ways I guess, same for Sheik who unlike Mewtwo should deffinatly NOT return. :(

Methinks he will have be his TP incarnation, complete with the Sage's Sword. Final Smash lets him transform into Ganon for a while
Ike has replaced Marth and Roy
Ganon is being completely reworked, all the other clones are being dropped to my knowledge
no sure about Jiggly, they would have announced it by now...
#1750

And no, Ike isn't replacing both Marth and Roy. He most likely only replaces Roy. Ike is slow, and then I mean REAL slow! Slower than Bowser some people say, but also stronger. Which doesn't really suit him I think but whatever. =/ And his moves are nothing like Marth's, so most likely Marth will return, but nerfed to hell like Fox. :(
Jigglypuff will most likely not get a profile on the Dojo cause it's became a tradition to have Jigglypuff being the first character you unlock in Smash Bros. by completing the Classic mode. Jiggs must stay.

Don't get me wrong, he was my best character to use in Melee - but even if Ike is as slow as Roy (perhaps slower and heavier even), and Marth is a speed demon, having two blue haired human characters that attack with swords... it just wouldn't feel diverse. I would rather another character came to replace Marth (Sothe?), or even bring back Roy and have him be the faster one.

Why Roy? If Lyn is an AT, maybe Eliwood will show up as playable.

Marth has a staring role in 2 FE games one being the very first FE, which is as much as Ike and he got pretty much begged into Melee by the Japanese fans so I doubt they'll remove him. Also, Marth's the main character of FE11 on the DS which will probably get international release.
And having 2 blue swordsmen isn't as bad as you make it sound GL. Ike has dark blue hair, and Marth's hair in Melee is more greenish so there's still difference between them.

Does that mean Ness is not in Brawl? I'll be cut if he isn't.

Basically, they might have time enough for one character, but he/she'd be half-assed and what's his face already said that he didn't want any of that. The only way we'll get more characters is if they were already in development.
And as for the characters, there's 23 confirmed, and probably about 6-7+ characters returing from melee tht haven't been annnounced. That's 29-30+ characters, and they're definately not going to just leave it at that. We'll have nearly 50 characters when this comes out. I can pretty much guarantee that.

They would have finished that ages ago. It's too far into development now to start adding new characters. He hasn't revealed all the characters of course, why would he do that?

It's not FE11. There's no new story-line.
What does color have to do with anything, too? Roy isn't coming back, though, that's for sure. He was low tier anyway. That's why Ike is so ****ty.

Does that mean that awesome characters as Mewtwo shouldn't return cause they aren't as good in tournament play as others? Surely not, otherwise we wouldn't have seen Bowser in Brawl, and Melee surely wouldn't have had DK, Link, Samus, Luigi and Jigglypuff return...
How "good" a character is shouldn't affect their chances of returning. Yes Roy sucks, but if he had more importance than Marth, he'd be the one who was returning not Marth.
Hopefully they fix Ike in the final version. They can't pull a Mewtwo off me again. >_<

That said, fantastic update today! Sakurai can always surprise is, and having multiple taunts for each character as well as a quote should make the game feel that much more personal and it should make it that much sweeter to finish off your opponents.

Falco and Fox were top tier in Melee, according to the so called "officials", though I could care less about that. Like I've said before, I started with kirby, switched to Roy, and now I use Fox. My thumbs just couldn't keep up anymore, so I went with a faster character. And Fox/Falco are far from Top tier if you don't know how to "shine" people with them. I think Fox is the strongest mainly because that's who I'm best with. But, I also used to suck with him. I was good with Roy (and sometimes I still prefer him) before I was good with Fox and so on. So, I guess I can't really say whose strongest. But, I do think Marth is better than Roy, even though I prefer Roy.

That's like saying Marth isn't High Tier if you don't use his sword... Just saying there.
Fox according to the NTSC Tier Lists is the best character in the game and this is why. Although I personally think Falco is the best with Sheik being second but that's me.
My favorite character in Melee is Donkey Kong. I just love the grab combo's! <3 He's also a LOT faster than he looks, and even though he's Low Tier he's got much potentail as shown by lots of pro players.
The worst character in Melee was Mewtwo, dispite being uber awesome and fun to play with. Hopefully he'll get buffed up a lot in Brawl -that's if he's returning which he should!

Well it's a lot easier to swing Marth's sword than it is to shine someone off stage. I, personally, can't shine someone unless they're still on the stage. And that's pretty pointless.
