"Cheapens him?" I can bet anything that you will change your mind the second you see him in Brawl. Yeah, he would probably be purple, just as he should be. That hardly means he would look crappy. He could have big wings, or at least like Pit, and I'm sure he would look dangerous and evil and stuff. They do try to make every character in Smash Bros. look good, and many fighters are more detailed(like Mario) and cooler looking(like Bowser) than they are in their games.

His B: Palentula Arrow, which you can aim and then curve the trajectory just like the opening video. I suppose it will be a bit like Din's Fire with zelda.

Yeah, I was looking forward to trying out Pit the most, but I've almost changed my mind now. Those two attacks are completely unoriginal. If these are the attacks they've spent a year making, then this game is going to suck.

It's going to sell, there's no doubt about it. And I think we've all been spoiled by Melee, which has now become a classic that is still played extensively to this day. The question is, are improved graphics and new characters enough to "distinguish" it enough?

I still have hope that Brawl will be amazing. If there's anything in particular to look forward to, remember that there's a "Game Mode" section of the new website. That ought to add some unique changes.

The "Wings of Icarus" allow Pit to fly freely through the sky!

In actuality, though, Pit is an angel who cannot ordinarily fly.
After a while, he will fall, so be careful.

It sounds to me as though this might be similar to Peach's gliding/floating from Melee.

I truly hope that better graphics and new characters aren't all that Brawl will give us compared to Melee, but I'm thinking that's what Brawl will actually be; A Melee 1.5. Having a new control scheme that uses the Wiimote and online multiplayer will be enough big changes I guess. Still, I just can't see how Smash Bros. can work with the Wiimote, no matter how many people try to tell me it can be done. I'm sure it can be done though, I just can't imagine it for now...

My main concern is that Sakurai seems to have nearly confirmed that it'll have a traditional control scheme, with the GC controller and/or the Classic Controller. So it won't have the learning curve for Melee players, because they simply already know how to play.

I'm worried that may detract from the fresh, new feeling of the game, because learning the controls (and becoming better at it) is one of the most satisfying experiences in playing a game, especially one as fast-paced and addictive as the Smash games.

Because then every character will have the same moveset! His arrow sounds a lot like Zelda's Din's Fire and also Link's Boomerangs, because you can partially choose in what direction that will fly. It even sounds a little like Ness's PK Thunder, except you don't have such freedom while controlling the arrow.

Aqua, I think the point is that in general, the movesets should be similar. Think about it; for every character in Melee (except Yoshi), doesn't the Up + B move always result in some upward movement of a character? The B and Side + B moves are a bit more varied, but they are similar in execution depending on the character's style.

Mario seems to have a very faint circle around him, suggesting the bubble shields back, but hopefully almost invisible, as custom block moves would be nice. I think the bubble is therejust to show the shield, and to not be attacked from the back, despite blocking from the front.

You should play as every charcater at least once. I play as a character, and I learn the moves, then I can learn the best way to counter them. I don't use Roy that much anymore, because one of my friends always uses him, Just as another always uses Ness. I've played as each and now I can't take advantage of thier weaknesses eaily. I mostly switch between Link and Marth. Switching between higher speed and higher power. But I mostly use Link, he is srronger than Marth, and can get attacks out faster than Roy's stronger moves. Espisealy with the Fairy Bow and boomerange.

I'm not too fond of 3rd party characters, but technically, Snake isn't thrid party. I'm not so sure I'll use him though. His final smash? He'll be able to plant mines everywhere and blow them up all at once. Isn't it obvious? :)

And Aqua, about the whole "Nintendo going bankrupt if brawl sucks" thing, I know Ninty wouldn't go bankrupt over one game. I'm just saying a lot of fans would likely ditch because of it. The same goes for Galaxy and MP:3 as well. Obviously, that would result in lower sales, but not nessicarily bankrupcy.

What could (and will) result if either of the big three games fail to deliver is that Nintendo misses out on selling considerably more Wii units (not that there are enough of them to begin with). Credibility among the "hardcore" Nintendo crowd might be damaged a bit, and Nintendo might begin to shift its focus to casual gamers.

An extreme situation, I know. But again, I highly doubt we have to worry; Retro Studios is a strong developer, we've seen what they've done with the Metroid Prime games for GameCube. Miyamoto is handling Galaxy, and Sakurai (both past Smash games as his experience) is handling Brawl, not to mention that Brawl is being handled by an entirely new company; Nintendo created a whole new department and company just for Brawl.

To be frank guys, the only way Smash could suck is if they screwed up the controls. Its a low possibility if they plan to use the classic controller. Sakurai has already stated in past interviews that he doesn't really want motion sensing to play a big role in the game at all. It seems like they are actually going to give us better control in Brawl then we had in Melee. The fact that we can crawl and move while shooting guns is a good sign in my opinion.

I've talked to people who I know who have Wii's about Brawl, and while the people who've played before are glad that Brawl isn't using the Wiimote, the people who haven't are like "I bought a Wii because it has motion sensing, so why the **** doesn't Brawl have motion sensing? It's ****ed up IMO."

However, if you're a true hardcore Smash Bros. fan, then you can only have it one way. No motion sensing.

I bet they tried all kinds of contols when making Brawl, and if they think that motion sensing would be good in Smash Bros. then they will add it. Although I can't imagine Smash Bros. with motion sensing, I know that if the game uses it it'll use it extremelly well, because the people making this game aren't stupid. If it did use motion sensing you would suddenly change your mind and say "Ooo, this is cool, these controls are much better than Melee" I'm a hardcore Smash fan, I have been playing Melee continuosly for the past 4-5 years, but I do hope they implement motion sensing, because Brawl will be Melee 1.5 without a change such as that.

Today's update is the Cracker Launcher. Sounds great.

After you grab this item, it'll rapidly release blast after blast of firecrackers that explode gaudily.

Control Stick. I was starting to believe the game will be controlled with ONLY the Wiimote, held sideways, but it seems it'll either use the Nunchuk too, or just the GC/Classic Controllers.

The first thing that poped into my mind when reading it's title, was a bazooka of sorts that launched saltine crackers. Then I pictured white people being shot across the map, but I didn't think ninty was that ganster, so I stuck with the crackers.

But seriously, this looks like a pretty cool weapon, but more of the kind of weapon that can be weilded equally by everyone. You know, like it doesn't take a lot of skill to use it well. The bob-ombs on the other hand, you have to know just when to throw it, especially if in the air, to be able to hit your target. The same goes for all projectiles, really. Still, it'll be fun to mess around with. ;D

On the subject of SSBB controls, I think that they should give options to go both ways. If you want to try something new and play with motion sensing, go ahead and do that. And if you want to plug in your GC controller, go ahead and do that.

However, to promote the Wii's unique controls, the advantage should be for people who master the motion sensing. In racing games, it would be the equivalent of manual being a bit faster than automatic. This way, the best players could use the GC controller out of the box, and then learn to use the Wii controls over time.

For the record, the website won't come close to revealing all the new stages, characters, items, etc. in Brawl. In fact, this is what happened with Melee; I believe all the 14 starting characters were revealed before the game was released, but all the secret characters remained so.

I'll get fairly frustrated if I get stuck and cant work out where to go or what to do, so i'll use a guide for that part. The only exception is Metroid Prime, where it is awesome and I never used a guide because it is the best game ever.

Anyhow, a few days ago something suddenly sprung to my mind. A character that I'm almost certain will be in the game, because it's one of those ones that not many people would expect and is another female fighter. Palutena. What do you think?

Yeah, she's some kinda godess Pit must save. But I don't agree with the idea. Retro characters who haven't been in a game so long should only come alone. It would take a spot for a more deserving character. Besides, do we even know how Palutena looks like? ._.

I hope she doesn't make it too, but she's just perfect for what Sakurai wants, so I believe she will be in the final roster.

Anyhow, the new update is quite simply crap. Maybe the worst one. Yoshi's Story music. Sure, this pretty much confirms him, but I doubt there was even one person in the world who thought Yoshi wouldn't be in the game. His egg emblem from Melee can also be seen, and his voice in the song be heard.

According to my latest EGM Magazine, Brawl should be comeing out this Fall. In fact, a direct quote from the articale is,

Also, chikorita confirms the return of some Gold/Silver/Crystal pokemon. Though I doubt we'll see Entei and the rest, or even Zapdos and his crew. They might include Ho-Oh and Lugia though, seeing as they were the ring leaders and all, kinda like Rayquaza.

As for Yoshi's ending theme song, I do believe that that is what you'll hear after beating Yoshi's adventrue mode (remember, what's his face said they'd make Brawl's adventure better, and possibly make a different one for every character).

But anyway, a few days ago I was playing against my friend in Melee, and I was using fox while he chose Marth. Anyway, the first mtch I lost, and pretty badly too. In the second match, I kept hitting him with fox's fire move thingy in the air. Neither of us touched the ground until after my 6th attack on him missed. But it was AWESOME!

This game's gona have a LOT of stuff to do in it. On top of a (suspected) longer adventure mode (possibly a different one for each character), you'll be able to play in 4 different ways.

And BTW, I still have all of my GC stuff. All the games, controllers, memory cards, etc.

And if you're looking for a GC controller, Mad Catz and other 3rd parties still make 'em, or you can get a used one from GameStop/EB Games. You might even be able to order one from Nintendo's official site, since they have listings of any part they've ever made for any console.

So far we have Smash, Kirby, Pokemon, Zelda, Mario, Yoshi, and Kid Icarus represented with icons. If Kid Icarus is icon #18, that means there are at least eighteen franchises represented in Brawl, including Smash Bros. itself.

We know that Wario, Metroid, Metal Gear and Star Fox will all be added. So that's another four.

If we think back to Melee, Donkey Kong had its own franchise symbol, as did F-Zero, Earthbound, and Fire Emblem. And if they bring back Ice Climbers and Mr. GAW, that's another two franchises. Which means that, if ALL of those franchises are accounted for, there is AT LEAST one new franchise on Brawl's roster.

That's 14, and since it's possible that Wario's symbol will be the same as Mario's, then that leaves 4-5+ new franchises. If we see FE characters, which is possible, then it's 3-5+ new franchises. But still, that's a lot. I'm curious to see who else they'll be adding.

Not ment to cut down on your excitement but wasn't the Ridley boss battle music also in SSB64 and Melee? If not, well I still can't say this confirms Ridley... Baloon Fighter also had his music in Melee, and Diddy Kong was also mentoined in the DK Rap remix but neither made the game (or atleast the final cut).

Yeah, Mewtwo still is a very awesome character to play as. Besides, potential wise Mewtwo surely isn't the worst character in the game. An awesome Mewtwo player from Smashboards pretty much proved that with this! Look at him owning Foxes and Sheiks like their nothing...

Good news for Aqua; Samus has now been officially announced as a playable character. It might seem a bit obvious, but they've only really mentioned Zero Suit Samus so far...
