Seriously though it doesn't look great does it? Even for something from 10 years ago. It seems a bit lazy to take a bunch of characters from well known games and put them into one fighting game just to get money.
Anyway back to Smash Bros... :)

Smash is some kid playing with toys. I cant complain.
And no, it's not because it has mario. It's because it has Cloud. Cloud deserves to DIE. He's way over rated.

At first I thought it was a massive level with loads of platforms and I was all ' HELL YES!!!' but then I realised it was an ice climbers level replacement. As glad as I was to have ridded myself of the ice climbers staged, they made it bigger. At least this one goes up and not down, and hopefully all at the same speed.

Also, I expected him to have Marth's moveset, but it seems he doesn't. Does this mean that some other FE character will have that moveset, possibly Marth again? I think it would be stupid to have both of them in the game, the second FE character in Brawl should be Mikaya from Goddess of Dawn. She would be awesome.

"No way! The Pokémon Trainer has finally arrived. And it looks like he doesn’t do his fighting directly.
Instead, he uses the three Pokémon with himâ€â€Squirtle, Ivysaur, and Charizardâ€â€to do the fighting for him."
I don't know, it's my job to criticize everything.
Anyway, hopefully this character doesn't suck.

They need to attract a lot of people with demo's at stores, so the starting lineups gotta have some characters already accessable.
Since when did Nintendo have demo's of major games in stores? And who would play them? I want to save the whole experience until I get the game.

Like WD mentioned above, there is a stamina meter for each Pokemon. That means that you can't rely on any one Pokemon for too long, but you also can't keep switching them back and forth quickly... there's a balance, and a pretty unique one at that.
It's an unusual addition to the cast, but it's so different, that I think it should be welcomed.

As for the Trainer guy, it's exactly what I've been looking for in Brawl. Something fresh and new, that hasn't been overdone millions of times. I'm still hoping for a more origional level. I mean, sure, the FE one has like, three levels that you fall to every now and then, but I want something dynamic like Hyrule Temple from SSBM. Not just a flat stage with a few floating panels, because we've got tons of those. I want something that has slopes and pitfalls, and different levels, just like Temple had. But I don't want it's layout to be like Temple's I want something new.
Basically, I'm for whatever they put into Brawl as long as it's new, unrepetitive, and not totally retarded.

Stickers? I was hoping the new trophies would be trading cards... And that each copy of Brawl would have some that many others wouldn't and you would have to trade online to get them all. Sort of like Wild World.
And finally something about F-Zero! Samurai Goroh and Red Gazelle are there. I was starting to wonder what has happened to Captain Falcon... and I'm still wondering.
Nevertheless, stickers look interesting.

On one hand, Isaac was in the top ten of the most wanted characters for SSBB, I believe, GS and TLA both sold really well, and had great reviews, many people remember GS and it's characters.
On the other hand, GS isn't a mainstream Ninty brand like Metroid, Mario, or LoZ, he seems like he'd be more of a 3rd party character (in my opinion) even though he isn't, there's still a lot of people who don't know who he/they is/are, so he wouldn't be the first person to come to mind when adding characters to Brawl.
Many pros and cons. It's hard to decide.
#958
Posted 17 August 2007 - 11:28 AM
But that's just my perspective. It's really that there hasn't been word on a future GS3 that's hurting their chances... bah.
#959
Posted 18 August 2007 - 11:15 AM
And, not many people knew who the hell Marth and Roy were when SSBM came out, but they were popular characters anyway.
So with that logic, I can't see why Isaac or Felix wouldn't be good additions. But I don't know if Nintendo knows that.
#960
Posted 18 August 2007 - 05:56 PM
However, I doubt he will make the cut.
Anyhow, it's good to see Peach back, and it's even better to see Toad is still one of her attacks, since that probably means he will not be a playable character. And that is a good thing.

Smash Attack: Uses a weapon unleash.
Special Attack: Attacks with Flint.

Grab Attack: Catch.
Final Smash: Judgment.

Special Olympics entrees > Ridley.
And WD, that's pretty much what I was getting at. But, FE characters had a higher chance of getting into Melee because they had future games comming out. Golden Sun, on the other hand, doesn't (as far as we know) have any future titles in the works. So the only thing that will get GS characters in is fame and fans. Fortunately, Isaac scored high enough in the polls to stand a chance. Unfortunately, GS isn't as famous as others like I've mentioned before. But then again, when Melee was out, that was true for FE as well, but still, *points to previous refrence of FE in paragraph*.
Anyway, Isaac's moveset:
A: Slash
A side: Stronger Slash
A up: Stabs the air (just like Marth/Roy)
A Down: Same as Marth/Roy
A Smash up: Stabs the air + Stone spire rises quickly out of the ground
A Smash Side: Quick Strike (psyenergy)
A Smash down: Same as Marth/Roy + small, short earth quake eminates around Isaac
B: Titan Blade (Gaia Blade's unleash)
B side: Uses Flint
B up: Megiddo
B down: Grand Gaia
Final Smash: Judgement
#966
Posted 19 August 2007 - 06:09 AM
Isaac's B moves(and I made up exactly how they would work, intending and succeeding in making his attacks different to any others, but I can't bother explaining now):
B: Shuriken(would work exactly like Sheik's Pin Missiles, since Sheik won't be in the game that's ok)
B Side: Ragnarok
B Up: Hover
B Down: Condemn
Decided on giving him a little more diversity, instead of having him use only Earth moves.

Why I think they might be playable from the start:
- Brawl is going to have more characters than Melee. Melee's starting roster had four new characters(not counting Sheik). If Ike and Trainer are hidden, this would mean that Brawl will have only three new characters playable right away(not including Zero Suit Samus). Snake will be hidden, that's a fact now.
- Pokemon Trainer is 'different' to other fighters in the same way that the Ice Climbers and Zelda were different, and they were both playable from the start. That is why I believe Trainer may be in the starting lineup.
Why I think they might be hidden:
- The "Warning! Character Approaching" signs that appear above these characters on the Brawl site are big and obviously there to warn people of spoilers. But knowing who the starting fighters are isn't really a spoiler, is it?
- The two of them don't seem to appear in any other screenshots on the Brawl site afterwards, let it be a new item or whatever. Probably so that people who saw the above mentioned sign wouldn't and didn't look at the new character wouldn't have it spoiled for them.
So, all in all, I have absolutely no idea what the truth is. What do you think?

Edit: Not an update I care about much, but hey, it's better then nothing.
They changed it to the Gale Boomerang. Cool. Clawshot is now the TP version too.
You can CHARGE the Up+B. Now that's interesting...

Another reason Ike and Pokemon Trainer might be playable from the start: Peach will almost surely not be a hidden fighter, so it's a bit strange to me that they showed two hidden characters before showing all the starting ones.

And what's happened to Metroid? We have samus, Zamus, and a final smash. That's it. Where's Ridley or Dark Samus?
I'm hoping this week that they reveal one of the most popular characters. Either Ridley, Krystal, Dedede or Diddy. Probably not sonic, because if he's in, then they're gonna want to keep him as secret as possible.
That brings me onto another idea: Who do you think the wtf character for Brawl will be? In the original it was Ness, and in Melee it was G&W. I think it's gonna be ROB, as he has appeared in a few games now recently ( F-Zero GX, Mario Kart DS). If not ROB, then Sonic, which isn't really wtf as people expect him.
And as for Link's moves, sweet! Now we dont have a lame bow that you have to charge for hours, and the boomerang looks awesome. Bombs haven't seemed to change, and the charge spin attack could turn out cool. If you can charge it in mid-air, then it would be awesome for uber recovery.

Honestly, Ridley has been wanted ever since the original Smash Bros. Ridley is just like Sonic. He's so wanted that they're most likely to keep him secret.
Most wanted 1st party character: Ridley
Most wanted 3rd party character: Sonic
The two characters that if they're in, are going to be kept the QUIETEST.
Ridley has a better chance of the two, as he has music, most likely for a second or the only, Metroid level.
Now, if they released even an ITEM with the Sonic logo, whatever that is, or MUSIC relating to Sonic, then they're hinting. So far all we have to go on for Ridley is a piece of music. Sonic, we have next to nothing to go on, at least the last time I checked.

Whos ROB. Hopefully Ness is in by default. He's my favourite and probablery my best character.
I can't access the site...

@Nosferatu: I disagree. I'm pretty sure they'll announce Sonic before the game is released, because that is what everybody wants to see, and many people would be talking about it, which would be perfect for helping the anticipation and even sales of Brawl.
If they were to show just a Sonic item or music they wouldn't be hinting. They would be confirming him as a playable character.
@Caael: Those aren't all the veterans. What about Captain Falcon?
You think that ROB will be the wtf character? I doubt it, and the reason is that you thought of him, as have many others. If they want a true wtf character, they'll choose someone NOBODY could have EVER thought of. I believe it will be a third party character that absolutely no one expects.

"You can use the Clawshot to perform life-saving tether recoveries by aiming at available ledges ... Of course, it doesn't mean a thing if it can't reach its target..."
Made me chuckle.

Somebody who feels the Ridley love! Dark Samus would be a cool addition, BUT, only if Ridley makes it. We have 2 Samuses already, we dont need 3 and no variation. They could confirm Ridley tomorrow and nobody would be suprised. Everybody expects him.

But, seeing as Ridley will almost certainly be in Brawl, I truly hope they include Dark Samus too.

Update
Ever
end.
It gives a lot away about the stages, for example. The first stage would involve you and Kirby battling Petey to get the Princess' back. Do you think that he'll be unlockable? He's a bit big, but my hopes are up : D

New update: FINALLY SOMETHING GOOD! ROB's finally getting some love. S'bout time he had an appearance in a Smash game. And Petey Pirahna would be a cool character. He'd jump almost like Kirby. With his silly little leafs-for-arms/wings.

So, there'll be non-playable bosses in adventure mode, huh? That sounds awesome. I guess Dark Samus's chances of being playable a smaller now... She'll probably just be a boss. Oh, and gsninja, I'll never forgive you for saying that.
