Yay, a new trailer.

Someone on GameFAQs found something really neat. He compared the new trailer to an existing Halo 300 video, and when you mute the SSBB trailer and watch it with the sound in the Halo 300 video, they synchronize perfectly. It's pretty cool.

The Angel Island music was nice, I thought they'd have gone for the Green Hill Zone.

I thought it was a pretty good update, and a double one at that. Keep in mind that we're not supposed to know anything from the E 4 All event where Smash was playable - which means that we shouldn't have known about Sonic's final smash anyway, for example.

At any rate, the graphics/animation for Super Sonic seems pretty good, and the Angel Island music is too - perhaps it's for the Sonic stage?

But ya I use Link and Falco. Link mostly. And sometimes Ganondorf/Captain Falcon.

Also one thing I never got about SSBM, is why ANYBDOY would ever play as Pichu. All the other clones have advantages and disadvantages, like Ganondorf is slower than CF but he is also stronger. But I see no advantages to Pichu, and he is insanely weaker, plus is also emo with the lightning.

And about the tier list, I've never been fond of that and other "elite" techniques such as wavedashing. It's not that I don't want people to use them, it's when people start basing the game's worth on whether it exists that's bothering me (i.e. so-called "professional" smashers are already bashing Brawl at the simply possibility that wavedashing might not return). Those techniques don't make or break a game, and I am content with using any character if I honestly enjoy using it to battle - not being limited to the elite few with the same advanced, morbidly boring techniques over and over again.

There was never supposed to be any video from E4A, it just happened that way. We saw some other FSes before they were announced, too.

I'm almost completely positive that Sheik is going to still be in, so I'm going to be maining her like I did in SSBM. I'm also definitely going to main Ike as well.

As for wavedashing, SHFFL'ing, etc., they may not be gamebreaking moves, but they're pretty fun to use if you know how to excecute them correctly, especially wavedashing.

I enjoy switching off between zelda and shiek depending on the current situation. Like long range I might use zelda for her side b and in combat I might use shiek for her superior agility and power.

I used Kirby, then siwtched to Roy, and now I use Fox. My thunbs just started slowing down or something, because I couldn't keep up with anyone after a while when I was using Roy. I just switched to Fox because he's faster.

Zelda/Sheik was my favourite Melee character ^^.
Runnerups are Link, Roy, Samus, Fox and Mario.

Marth and Falco were always my top choices for "competitive" battling, especially Marth because his agility and long range suits my technique. I also enjoy using Zelda very much because her special moves are aesthetically cool and unique.

Yoshi's up there too, swallowing the opponent into an egg on the side of the stage is always so amusing. :lol:

I really like using Link because he is fairly strong without being super slow, and his long range attacks can come in handy. Plus his ^B move kicks ass when you're getting gang rapped by 3 other people.

G&W I just found to be, well, not strong and still really slow. His attaks weren't that good. The bucket thing only worked well with strong projectiles. And well, I just didn't like him.

Marth all the way, followed by Roy. I like Marth because he's fast and I like using the counter attack but he's weak when it comes to basic attacks but dangerous when charging that sword blow thingy (the attack that can destroy shields) and Roy, slow but strong and the charging attack sword thingy is awesome but rarely I land a hit but funny when i do (Kirby is very fun when sent flying with it or jigglypuff even more fun!)

Marth overpowers Roy in 95% of their moves when comparing them. Marth is definitely better than Roy, also because he's faster and can chain throws better.

Oh, I also found out something about Ike that I overlooked a long time ago: Despite what I thought before, he actually is slow, and looks a lot faster if you haven't played as him. Ike apparently lags before he attacks. He literally does nothing for about 4-5 frames before he attacks, which makes him slow, although the attacks themselves are fast enough. You pretty much really need to master Ike in this aspect to use him in the metagame well.

Ike is out of Roy's class. Ike can freakin knock Bowser off with a smash attack when Bowser is at 40-50%. Ike is really strong, no lower than one of the top 5 most powerful.

Ike isn't REALLY slow, if that's what you thought I said. He's just...slow, simply because of those couple frames of doing nothing. However, like I said, the attacks themselves are as fast as Link's attacks.

There's another complication though. Japan and North America have their release dates set for January/February, but Brawl's release for Europe and Australia has yet to be confirmed. It would be unfair if we had a tourney or something when the PAL countries don't, but having a few quick rounds with the folks who do wouldn't hurt.

So, just out of curiosity, what's the first thing you guys are gonna do once Brawl comes out? I'm definitely going to tackle the Subspace Emissary first, although not before training with Ike a little. Hopefully, the hidden time frames will be resolved when the game comes out.

I still think the dragoon is too much effort just for 1 KO. 3 pieces that could take however long to get, and even having to fight others to gain a piece- it's all way too much for a shot you might even miss. 1 KO, big woop, you could get about 5 KOs in the time it takes to get all those pieces.

I think that's only true for his Final Smash. Super Sonic is really fast and pretty strong, but it's rather useless if you're too reckless with his speed.

Magic is definitely fun to play with, shame there aren't more characters like Zelda though - that's why I'm really hoping for Midna (from Twilight Princess) or Micaiah (from Radiant Dawn), who'd be great choices for magic users not to mention adding more female members to the roster.

At any rate, updates finally resume tomorrow! I can't wait (there's still that missing spot for the Newcomers, ought to be interesting to see who else is revealed before the game's release).

I don't know if we're gonna get any more character updates until the Japanese release. Everyone revealed, save Sonic and Snake, are the starting roster. I heard that the rest of the characters won't be revealed on the Dojo until Japan's release, due to being the other unlockable characters. I'm not sure about it, though.

Oh, and I highly douby Micaiah will make it. She and Ike are both part of the same game. Granted, Ike's using his PoR model, but his inclusion alone decreases her chances as playable.

If you have a Wii, or are getting one, get Melee too, and MAKE SURE you play it before Brawl or it'll suck balls. It'll be dirt cheap by now, and you won't regret paying what little money you did to get it.

Isaac has a decent chance to be in Brawl, he was a highly requested character in a poll Sakurai gave once. And yes, the DS icon being revealed definitely messed up the icon theory, though it still could support Isaac's chances if it means that Golden Sun will be one of the new ones.

I've never understood the sense in pre-ordering. This isn't a console, it's a game disc which can be produced easily - not to mention that with such a high-profile release as this, you can bet there will be many, many copies to buy.
