Wow, I have to say, these Final Smashes are plenty of eye candy. And just to make a point, the E3 trailer had very specific, cinematic angles for the Final Smashes, but from the recent updates, it seems like they are going to occur in the middle of the battle, just as if you had gotten any other item.

One of my favorite things about brawk has to be the graphics. It's WAY more detailed than Melee, and that's saying something.

Well no. A character with an item has a clear advantage over the one who doesn't. Take the Homerun Bat, Starman, Pokéball or Bob-Omb for example. Way too powerful and random. Fast characters like Fox and C.Falcon become even better cause they only need to camp and wait for items to win from characters as Mewtwo and Bowser.

Sure items are fun once in a while, but they have no place in competive tournament play.

The real reason being that tournaments are designed to determine the most skilled, whereas if you use items, then someone might win simply because they obtained more/better items, regardless of skill.

Sheik is a good character if you know how to use him. You have to balence his lower attack, with his higher speed. And knowing when to switch between Zelda and Sheik is critical as Zelda has some really strong offencive moves but is slower than Sheik.

Oww please cut it. Sheik is easly the best character in the game, even though the Tier List might say otherwise. She's extremly easy to get good with, and she DOES has a finishing move and it's broken as hell. The fist of God; aka her Forward Aerial is the best edgegaurding move in the game and is far to easy to set up. Just Forward Tilt any character -maybe twice- and shove them away mercilessy with her Fair.

Sheik has a clear advantage above every character except for the Ice Climbers and Falco which might be her worst matchups. Every other character Sheik completely rapes. Bowser, Donkey Kong, Mewtwo, Pikachu, Roy, Yoshi, Young Link, Pichu, Kirby, Link and every other character not called Fox, Peach, Marth or the characters I mentoined earlier WILL lose to a Sheik player if they're not FAR more skilled than the other player.

Switching to Zelda isn't even needed. Noone plays as Zelda, that's why I was really looking forward to have a totally revamped Zelda without Sheik. Sheik ruined the almost perfect balance Melee had, and seeing that after 2 (and 3 counting Phantom Hourglass) Zelda games Sheik still hasn't returned we can easly asume she never will be in another Zelda game anymore. So why would she be in Brawl??

In truth, there is no need for Sheik, most newbes to the Zelda universe woud not even know who the hell Sheik is. So she really don't need to be in the game. It is likely that her moves are more powerful versions of what she had before.

Has no one else considered the possibility that Zelda's smash attacks might have the Rapier? Imagine charging up her Side + A smash attack, and she slashes the opponent with a Rapier.

I agree that her design is great, very detailed, not to mention very pretty too :) As for her moveset, keep in mind that we don't know what her Down + B move is, which could end up being something completely different, not to mention her other techniques might be more refined, etc.

Pretty good news, it shows that Sakurai can throw us the curve ball every now and then.

Well, that just adds some credibility to the debate then. Just because Zelda and Sheik are considered two separate characters, should Sheik be in Brawl? Link and Zelda have their updated models from Twilight Princess, and since Sheik isn't a part of that game, wouldn't it make more sense to perhaps include Midna instead? Maybe even have Midna's adult form, and adapt Sheik's moves to her (though that would seem out of place, since Midna is definitely not a ninja in any way).

Super Smash Bros Brawl is a game coming out for the wii, right? Yeah, it has nintendo characters in, from many popular series. Now Metroid has recently become a very popular series, and many people were dissapointed with Super Smash Bros Melee ( The prequel to brawl) with it's lack of Metroid characters.

Now Ridley, you see, is an awesome space dragon who commands over the space pirates. He comes from Metroid. He is NOT a Bowser clone. Ridley is popular, awesome and eats people like you for breakfast, brunch, lunch, lupper and supper. Lots and lots of people want him in. You are among the 0.1% who dont.

Now, if you're going to go about the realism factor of the game, consider this:
A racing driver with muscular man boobs grabs a bird out of the sky, and punches the balls out of a sexually confused buffball that sings into a microphone to make people fall asleep. An oldy dressed lad in green with a pointy hat and a magical boomerang uses his magical shield to dodge away from the singing, into a humanoid fox. Now not only is this fox humanoid, it also talks and is scottish, and comes from the far future. He has a gun and shoots the green elfish bloke.

Well it doesn't seem to look like a real effective move to me. The move launches you up after loading it up, but who's dumb enough to walk or jump above Wario while he's obviously charging up this move? It might be useful for recovery though.

That's not quite how it works diddy, the move isn't a charge move like Roy's 'sploding sword thingy. It's just that the longer he goes without using the move, the more powerful it gets. So you just wait for it to gather energy, sorta like waiting for the BBQ beans I just ate to digest, and then you can launch the attack. But you don't have to wait for it to be completely charged.

Ahh, completely forgot about Vaati. He'd definitely be a worthwhile addition, as would a Cel-Shaded, childish Link to replace Young Link, and represent the Four Swords games, Wind Waker, and Phantom Hourglass.

I am reasonably certain Brawl is almost complete. Kojima himself played it and said it felt complete, not to mention that E3 is coming up, and it needs to be in a playable build by then. It's just Sakurai is slowly building up the hype - he wouldn't want to give everything away a full five months before the game releases.

That's really awesome, that you can change Bowser to Giga Bowser. I never really hoped that he would be playable after the nightmare of Event 51 from SSBM, but after seeing his power, I'd be more than happy to try it out.

They are very easy, just use Ganondorf and spam his Up Smash. That move easly does around 60~70% damage every time you use it since it's a 4~5 hit move.

It would be stupid not to include him. If you think about it, F-Zero hasn't really changed the face of gaming, where Donkey Kong has; Donkey Kong Country was a new era for graphics and really showed what the SNES could do.

Sounds lame. A perfectly flat stage has 95% of it smashed to pieces every few moments, before being reformed by a wierd portal. I never played TP but it seems pretty crappy to me.

Bridge of Eldin is a great choice for a stage (assuming it's very long), and I love the touches they add from Twilight Princess, very nostalgic indeed. :(

What i'm loving about Brawl most at the moment is the music. Totally epic tunes, which we'll have little time to concentrate on during battle, which is a shame.

One interesting discussion I saw on the Smashboards - are Brawl's environments aesthetically pleasing and distracting? There's no denying that the graphics are great - but will we have time to marvel at the environments as we're playing, and if so, could it be a hindrance?

Kirby's is probably that big cooking pot Mario was standing it, Wario's is an atomic fart, and I bet Samus's is the huge blast she fires at Pit and Meta Knight. Which, according to the video, is likely the 'circumstance' which transforms you into Zero Suit Samus, if she is not a directly playable character.

Nothing has been confirmed about Samus' final smash. All Sakurai said is that ' She will transform under certain conditions'.

With the update from Monday, that clears up a few things. Towards the end of the second brawl trailer, pit was spinning his crazy sword around at uber speed. I'm guessing this is done by the new combo's.

How can a game like Smash, with minimal text and speech, take so long to localise? Melee took 6 months! I would understand if it was a text-heavy RPG with voice acting, but Brawl? All it is to translate is the announcer and the menu text. Why does it take so long to translate?

Caael- It's always like this. Pokemon came out last Sep in Japan, and then after it's American launch it took about 4 months to get here. Kh2 took a good 10 months from Japan to Australia.

Also, unfortunately, I think online isn't happening in Brawl. If you noticed during Nintendo's Press Conference, they had a whole section dedicated to online gaming for Wii; Mario Kart was revealed, but Brawl was NOT mentioned (even though Reggie had just talked about it, when he confirmed the date.)

It's not an official no, but the chances have definitely declined.

The one thing I hate, is that they keep using the same basic stage design, but they just dress it up in fancy decorations. I mean, come on already! Give us something that isn't just two floors one above the other! I wan't to see something like Hyrule Temple or Planet Zebes. Or even Big blue. I can't think of any two stages that were alike in geometry off the top of my head in Melee (not including past stages), yet we already have THREE pairs in Brawl. Smashville and that yoshi one, lyat cruise and battlefield, and the LoZ bridge and Isle Delfino. The first two are two platforms, the next two are a main platform with three small ones above it, an the other two are just flat.

I don't care about any fancy season/time changes, because I'll be too involved in the game to care anyway. It's not like I'll by the game just to look at the scenery, because at this rate I'm sure nintendo will have a game out like that eventually.

My point exactly. Big Blue was one of the most unique stages out of both games, my favourite second to Hyrule Temple (the really big stage?). Sakurai had better come up with something good soon or I might just lose interest in this game completely.

I guess I won't be all that pissed as long as they bring back some of the stages from Melee, like Hyrule Temple (yes, it's the really big stage) and big blue, and I'm sure there's a few others I'm forgetting right now, because those are pretty much the only two I can remember. But they're still two that I want to see return.

I'll still buy Brawl even if it has a lot of crappy "cloned" stages, but only as long as there's a few good ones, and if they bring back some of the Melee ones.

As for the stages so far, I think they're trying to keep the game more focused on the fighting, and less gimmicky stages. But there's still more stages that haven't been put on the site;

The Halberd ( Meta's ship)
Angel land ( Though that's also just 3 platforms)
Snakes Level ( Which we've only seen a background for)
The Fire Emblem castle ( A possible favourite stage, if it turns out well.)

So dont get angry yet, toasty, we have more stages to come.

The Bridge of Eldin looks to be the coolest stage so far.

Plus if you look closely, on the right of the screen during the 15 second video, on Eldin bridge before it blows up, you can see a bokoblin, who ends up falling down the whole. Dont know wether it's a stage hazard or a AT though.

I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't included, or, if it was, region limited like Mario Strikers Charged. Which is just *** because I'm still getting lag playing only Australians, where as people are playing internationally via FC and getting no lag...

I couldn't care less about online Smash. There's 2 major groups you would get caught up into:

Ubers, the majority of people at Smash World forums; the people who play the game like their life depends on it, and they get all their income from winning tournaments.

Noobs, the people who dont understand the game completely and get slaughtered.

Unfortunately, most of us are in the inbetween, where we know how to play the game, but we just want to have a laugh. I dont want to play a game where the match will end in seconds, both ways. I'd rather have friendly matches where people can just muck around if they want, rather than having people who worship the game, or people who dont play the game properly, and always muck around.

So I couldn't care less if online was left out.
