It's been awhile since anything went 'wow!' to me. I worry that they may add to much to the mix and the fighting screen gets cluttered. In other fighters like Tekken, it's the simplicity of the fighting that impresses me.

If they don't want any clones, then they either have to completely revamp Ness's moveset, or cut him. And I doubt that they'll revamp his moves.

Look at the screens. He's got at least one of Ness's moves (the psychic shield thingy that absorbs projectiles and uses them to replenish health), and I think he's got Ness's bat too.

Oh, heavens no. First off, SquareEnix makes most of their games for the PlayStation systems, and Final Fantasy characters have a pretty slim chance of making the cut. Second, I hate Sephiroth. Zero Suit Samus's B moves are a tad stale for my tastes too. Non of them are even offensive, except for one. However, I do think that she's meant to be weaker than normal anyway, due to her suit being blow to bits. Weaker, but faster and more nimble.

I can see Sonic coming from a mile away. If he isn't in there I would be surprised. How many spoofs have people made about Sonic being in the past games? Well, Isaac would be awesome. Nintendo would do it to build popularity back up so they can get a new game more attention, like what they did with Marth and Roy. Keeping them in Melee was a great idea, and it worked on getting Fire Emblem attention that it needed in America.

It was because of Marth's and Roy's inclusion in SSBM that Fire Emblem gained popularity outside of Japan. That's why FE7 and onwards are the most known Fire Emblem games. Isaac's inclusion will do the same thing for Golden Sun. Not only that, Camelot would have to make a GS3 from the increased attention.

Definitely agree there. I'm surprised that the magnitude of the announcement doesn't seem to have sunk in yet (or has already died down) for some people. This is by far the biggest SSBB news ever, not since the inclusion of Snake have we seen anything remotely like this (the Subspace Emissary and Wi-Fi, however, are definitely important too).

Zelda's got her own profile up for a long time now. I can't wait to see her Special Moves, cause that will hopefully confirm that Sheik isn't in the game.

Basically it talks about the image URLs for the icons ( Like the mushroom, triforce, warp star) and it has all the original characters from Smash as 01 02 etc, the melee characters from 12 onwards, ( Fire Emblem, Ice Climbers) and then it gets to the Brawl characters and there's a gap where G&W should go.

Interesting update today on Sonic's moves. I'm somewhat disappointed that the Down + B move is only a charge up for the Side + B Spin Dash (someone clarify that for me), but being able to use it in midair as a form of recovery is amazing.

Yes actually. I'm being serious. I have other things I could spend my money on than a Wii. Those things are kind of expensive. :/

It sounds silly not to play the game if a single character doesn't make it, but seeing as I have to buy the console as well, Super Smash Bros. Brawl has to be completely totally worth my money to buy the Wii.

On the Metroid stage I heard it's called "Norfair" (whatever that is, I don't play Metroid games that often. ;)) in the IGN Hands On Preview.

"...you charge up your spin and do a Spin Dash."

I think it's just a more powerful version of Spin Dash.

According to IGN's hand-on with the game, Brawl is beautiful to look at, far exceeding anything we've seen yet (except for, perhaps, Super Mario Galaxy). But even considering all the insane stuff going on, the characters, the items, Final Smashes, the stages, etc., it stayed at a silky smooth 60 fps, which is great considering it is just a demo.

Let's face it though. Releasing Metroid, Mario, and Smash all in one year... it's a bad business move, especially considering the Wii is practically selling itself now. Super Mario Galaxy and Wii Fit will definitely be enough to carry it through the holiday season, supported by other titles for the hardcore (the new Fire Emblem, Soul Calibur Legends, etc.)

But hey, at least there will be a (nearly) worldwide release for Smash early next year (late January/early February).

Yeah, I agree completely. Releasing a bunch of good titles within three months is not exactly one of the best moves. Spreading them out a bit is better, so Brawl's delay is actually good in that sense. It's best to spread the games out a bit so that you'll be excited for a longer period of time.

Toasty, Radiant Dawn comes out November 5th. Less than a month!

Someone explain what "breaking the smash ball" means? I've read about it in the previews (haven't see the videos yet), but I'm not entirely sure.

Ok GL, here's how I can explain it:

When the Smash Ball appears on the stage, it bounces around, much like the Starman. When people are talking about "breaking the Smash Ball", they mean hitting it. To gain the power of the Smash Ball, one must hit it enough times to gain its effect. After that, whoever has the Smash Ball needs to press the B button to activate the Final Smash.

It doesn't bounce arond though, it floats around the stage. In one video, it actually went under the stage ( Pokemon stadium) and was inaccessible to anybody.

The entrances last half a second each, I dont think they're going to spend time creating a giant god soldier to shoot Isaac down. But I do think Judgement will be his FS.

I am not impressed with today's update. The stage may be as big a the Temple, but it is no where near as good as far as I can tell.

Why isn't it as "good"? Everyone's been asking for a large, unorthodox stage on the level of the Hyrule Temple stage in Melee, and this is it. I agree that the concept of a large city with the billboards and whatnot may not be the "coolest", but it's definitely innovative and it does seem to be a ridiculously fun stage.

You are right, it's not fair to judge the level before I play it, but I said that because I want one that is even more like the Temple stage, or just have the temple stage. Who knows, it might come back as a hidden stage, just like Melee has unlockable stages from the earlier games.

Yes, and I'm at least glad that we have one that's fairly large and dynamic but the temple had more....shape to it. There were more platforms and the whole thing just kind of flowed together. This one just looks like a bunch of platforms stuck together and tilted/raised/lowered/whatever. It's not a work of art, but it is large, and it's not just plain and flat. I may not be incredibly overjoyed with it, but it's good enough for now I just REALLY hope that they bring back Hyrule Temple.

I don't know if it's just me, but I think that the Ultimate Chimera is totally unecessary. It's a cool addition, but a monster that can knock you off in one hit is too much of an obstacle. I guess it adds to the challenge of the stage.

I wouldn't say a lack of the announcement is anything to worry about. We have no idea how big the roster the will be, and who's unlockable or not (though Sonic and Snake are most likely going to be unlockable due to what Sakurai said a while back.)

Though I would like that update really soon... I need to know whether I'm buying the game or not. XD

Chances are we won't get a new character revealed for a while now - Sonic was obviously huge, and Nintendo wouldn't want to have Smash distract from the other games coming out later this year - I expect we might see a veteran revealed in the coming weeks, but no newcomers until at least past November.

That said, I like today's update. The Home Run Contest was always so fun, and co-op should make it even more so (having the shield around it is an even more brilliant idea).

And as far as I have heard, there are supposeidly going to be as many as 50 characters total, and at most, three third party characters. So we will just have to wait and see. If GS3 were to come out, haveing Issac would be a great way to promote it. I hope a new Kid Iccerus game will be coming out since Pit is in Brawl.

Well, if Isaac is to be in Smash Bros., he would be as much of a secret as Sonic was until he's announced. If is not in there, I won't hold it against Nintendo. But yeah, Marth and Roy boosted popularity for Fire Emblem in the states, probably why those GBA games did so well. I wasn't even familiar with Fire Emblem until I got Marth and Roy.

Well it is for me, since I'm an obsessed fan of Isaac. Just kidding... but seriously, as I've said before there's another thing that I want to buy, and I'm probably just crazy to think of buying a Wii over it... So yeah, I'm giving the Wii a chance! I am, seriously, a big fan of the Golden Sun series, though. I think that Isaac would make an excellent addition to the playable roster. He's literally the PERFECT character to add, and he would have a really interesting moveset. If he doesn't make it, it's what I call "wasted potential". The majority of newcomers so far haven't really interested me, honestly. Only Ike and Pokemon Trainer have interested me in the slightest!

Back on the topic of Isaac, and the point I was trying to make... He needs to be in Brawl not only because of how well he fits, and how great of a moveset he could have, but also because we NEED a Golden Sun 3, and having the popularity of the series grow from Isaac being in Brawl, it would possibly convince Camelot to make the sequel.

50 characters is a push. I'm thinking a maximum of 45 characters. I'm hoping 45 characters is what we get. At least with that delay!

I don't know if any of you remember, but way back when Brawl was just beginning to get developed, Sakurai DID mention wanting to add an aspect of Golden Sun in the game, something along the lines of having Djinn as Assist Trophies or something. He's kept Golden Sun in his mind from the start of Brawl's development.

They're assist trophies and poke'balls respectively. Little Mac is an assist trophy (check the site for an explanation), and Meowth comes out of a poke'ball.

The problem here is that in this mode, these match-ups are completely random. You have no information on your opponent, not even the region they're from, and can't communicate with them. Worse yet is that NO records are kept for this mode.

It's basically, in a certain sense, playing anonymously and randomly, but instead of computer-controlled characters, you have human intelligence as your opponents.

Isaac's Japanese name is Robin. However, as you can see from the list, there's already a name that starts with an "R". Now, think about this: part of the theory states that the name can be either the name of the series or the name of the character. Golden Sun's Japanese name is Ougon no Taiyou. There aren't any Os up there.

It's entirely possible for Golden Sun to be the 19th Icon. The 13th could be Mr. Game & Watch.

I agree with you, though. I love the screen frame that appears. :o I think it's a pretty useful Final Smash, though, since you can heal yourself if you manage to unleash it AND you can pummel your enemies while they're asleep. I don't know about you guys, but I rather like it.

In melee your enemies woke up once you attacked them. It's a useful move to position yourself, and get the higher ground, as well as heal.

I think everybody should have a border when they're final smash is activated. Super Smash Bros Brawl: Comic book style. Samus' would blatantly say POW.
