Sure, but I can't get connected to Wi-Fi... =/ Still, Blue remember that Brawl's a total different game than Melee. You might have completely mastered Yoshi in Melee, but that doesn't mean that you've mastered Brawl's Yoshi at once. As for myself, I'm much better with Diddy (no suprise) than Donkey Kong, and I even find myself feeling more comfortable playing as Snake, Ness and Marth in Brawl while I've mained DK for years! Can't get the hang of Ike though, and even though I tried to like him... I just DON'T like Lucario! I miss my Mewtwo...

In the giant maze thing in the SSE, I mainly used Mario, Pikachu, Lucario, and Marth. I've actually started to like Mario's fighting style in Brawl. Pikachu was great in the SSE because he had a +20 something electric attack sticker on him. He's still good in normal use, but it's a lot easier to use him on bigger foes.

I use mostly Marth, and then Ike. Dedede if it's a double damage match (pretty much all of his moves KO in one hit in DD). I've unlocked everyone except for Toon Link and Wolf.

TOON LINK IS AWESOME. You have to unlock him, it's not like it's hard after completing SSE. Wolf, on the other hand...

Toon Link is definitely my favorite character right now, his moves are better than Link. Falco is in a close second, and then there's game and watch. I absolutely hate King Dedede, he's my least favorite character right now.

The way I got him wasn't so easy. There's a room in SSE with him in it. And if you lose against Wolf you have to go all the way back to him again.

Anyhow, I got a new gamepad since then. Wireless. The C stick is occasionally unresponsive during Brawls, but it works fine in the menus. Which is weird. Other than that it's fine, and you don't really need to use the C stick anyway.

That's only because we're used to playing with the GC controller. It's been said that for people who've never played Melee (or don't play video games in general), the Wiimote is very accessible and easy to pick up.

The Wiimote really isn't that hard to pick up, whether you're a Melee player or not; it all depends on what's more comfortable overall for you. I actually played with the Wiimote a good amount of time, but I never liked it. There were a couple people I saw who never played Melee yet were more comfortable with the GCN controller.

I just couldn't find a configuration, even with the nunchuck, that didn't confuse me. I'm used to A being the attack button instead of jump for both Melee and LoZ,and the B button (which is the trigger) as being either the shield or grab function. And then when I switched it so the A was attack, and B was jump, I still got things mixed up, and couldn't figure out a good place to put the special attack button. And grabbing sucks for the nunchuck. However, since you can trigger a grab (or an attack/special/etc.) by pressing one button, holding it down, and then pressing another, it could make combos easier. Or harder, either way.

I just found the GC controller to be more fitting. And my "purple bannana" has rubber grips built in. Goes you're Wiimote have that, Split? No? Didn't think so. :P

Ike is EASY to use. All his moves will launch you, ALL of them. Even if he's slow, it doesn't matter because his attacks, while melee, still have a huge range with a sword that's bigger than he is. =/

An official tier list won't be made for quite some time. I wouldn't expect an accurate one until at least sometime during or after July.

Also, Ike is NOT easy to use. In FFAs, OK, he's usually not that hard to use, but you can't honestly expect the same thing to happen in 1v1s. Ike, despite popular belief, actually has one of the harder learning curves when compared to the other characters in the game. You need to spend a lot of time getting timing and spacing down as well as utilising his quick moves and only using his smash attacks when you're absolutely sure they'll connnect.

by my own play experience, my main, Pit, will probably fall under the high lower tier, or the low mid tier. Although he is versatile, his smash attacks are fairly weak, and like most of the 'flying' characters, he is very vulnerable in the air. But I still like to play as him cause I think he kicks ass.

The only people who hate Ike have either never actually tried to use him, or still stick to the faster=better rule. With Brawl, that rule kinda went half way out the window.

Ike is easily among the best fighters if you stick to using his standard A, Arial B, and a few others.

I prefer Marth though. I've developed a few techniques with him, though so far I've only had the chance to use one.

He's not overpowered at all. The moves that make Ike overpowered are almost impossible to land in 1v1 battles unless your opponent makes a bad enough blunder. Ike's tilts aren't overpowered, although they rival the strength of most characters' smash attacks.

I haven't played him 1 v 1, but in big battles... it wouldn't hurt if he had LESS power. Being knocked off the stage at 50% just isn't nice.

I have to agree with GSN. You have to know how to use Ike. Once you figure out how to use him though he also because relatively easy to fight againist. Most people do use his slow powerful attacks way to much. So in an all out brawl just avoid Ike until it is 1v1. then he is MUCH easier to beat. All of his attacks are pretty easy to dodge with a moderate speed charater.

Or better yet, if you're character can counter, turn all of that attack power back on him.

Anyway, I found something pretty interesting.

In a special Brawl, if you set it to 300% and metal, then you can deal massive damage with Lucario's B charge. Just get close to someone, and start charging. They get stuck and can't do a thing for quite a while, while the charging just continues to deal damage. When they're about to get free, dodge away and hit them with the charged ball for an instant KO.

This probably works at around 200% damage aswell, but I don't know.

Just to clarify, I'm by no means a Ike hater I just dislike his phrases in Brawl. He's still pretty good though, but he has his flaws. He's a sucker for projectiles for example, and he's ofcoarse quite slow (the fastest heavy character is still DK, followed by Wario).

But Ike get's sympathy from me, cause he prepares himself and fights for his friends. ^^

You shouldn't buy a console just because of one game anyway. But it's hardly Melee 1.5/2.0/whatever. It might take a bit more than playing it for a day to realise it, but it's a completely new game. At first glance, it looks like Melee with a new menue and more fighters & stages, but there's more to it than that.

Like I've said before, you can be awesome in Melee and suck in Brawl (or vice versa), regardless of your controller. I use Fox in Melee, and I'm pretty good with him. I can't use him very well in Brawl.

Call it fapping or whatever you please, but if you play it with an open mind for more than a few hours, you'll notice the difference.

Brawl is pretty horrible online and if you don't have a good connection it is ecspecially horrible, but I have really always played smash games at home with my friends and that is what I think that nintendo is trying to go for. I do wish that online was better though. At least it is free.

The friend codes aren't really all that much of a problem to me. If no one's on, you go to a random match. The only difference, is that you can't customize it other than the items, and even then, it only counts as a suggestion. I honestly don't care. Some items annoy me, but that's bound to happen. You can't always have everything the way you want it. It's fun to just fight against people.

Besides, if you want a bunch of people to fight against, just go to youtube and look for the Brawl FC video or whatever. There's a lot of FC's in the comments, and 64 people ought to be plenty enough to fight against.

The only thing I hate about the online is the lag. Nintendo needs to spend some money on upgrading their servers and bandwidth. It seems to me like their just using the extra power available from their current servers that are running things like their website and forums. That's just not going to cut it. They need a lot of servers dedicated to online gaming, otherwise it's just going to suck.

I enjoyed Crash Bandicoot more than I did the old NES and SNES Mario games, but they have nothing in common with eachother, other than they're both videogames. It's not a good comparison in the slightest.

And I actually prefer Melee's combat mechanics. The moves feel smoother and more refined in Melee than they do in Brawl. However, Brawl has more items, characters, and stages, and even though the online service is lacking, it's far better than nothing at all. Brawl has so much stuff in it, there's little that can be improved upon.

But you dont base a sequals quality on what it had that the previous one didnt but what it should have. And thats why brawl fails. I wasnt that angry at the fact that they only added 10 more characters to the roster, I was angry at the fact that the roster was filled with clones and un wanted characters, while extremely popular, unique and deserving characters got neglected.

Even if Melee was rushed (I don't know if it was or wasn't), it only showed it in the cloned characters.

Brawl has EVERYTHING Melee had with the exception of a few stages, and the lottery. The coin launcher is way better than the lottery anyway, and they still kept the best stages from Melee, so it doesn't really matter. The ONLY thing that I think Melee does better in, is that the fighting seems a little smoother and refined than Brawl's.

Melee had Trophies. Brawl has Trophies and stickers. Melee had 25 characters, 6 of which were clones of the origionals. Brawl has 35 characters, 5 of which are semi-clones. 15 of the characters in Brawl are brand new, and there's only three in there that could be considered unwanted, because they're the least liked out of the 35 characters, but I guess that's your opinion. Its not a bad game its a good game. But a sequal to Melee and a game with such a large fan base that has done so much shouldnt be just "Good". But alas maybe the next smash bros game will have someone better than "Moar wun playa!" Sakurai.

I've really enjoyed Brawl. I think the only thing I don't like, is the limits on what songs are available to play on which stage. If that makes any sence. I wish there was more freedom to it. The GS soundtrack can only be played to on Norfar(sp). Its a good song that I wish could be heard on other stages.

No matter how you look at it, though, Brawl's online IS bad for the current generation. Although it usually gets the job done, it doesn't excuse the fact that Nintendo really needs to update their servers and whatnot to reduce lag. It was also not a great move to leave out voice chat, since a lot of people wanted that. I didn't care about it, but many others did.

I think Brawl is better than Melee overall. I don't feel like reasoning at the moment, since I'm tired. =P Online doesn't fail for me, at least, since I'm fine 85% of the time.

I agree totally, it's not a bad game, it's a bad sequel. If you'd never seen the dojo or played melee you'd love this game because you have no previous Smash games to base your expectations on, however if you've played them and have been eagerly awaiting Brawl, to find out it's missed out on everything you were expecting, thats not good.

Anybody who says the online is good needs to be shot; the online is abysmal, even Mario Strikers Charged has a better online and it's almost 2 years older. This might sound fanboyish/biased, but if you want a good online, take notes from the 360.

Anyone who tales any videogame seriously is lacking in the social department. I play both casual and serious. I don't go to tourneys, because I don't care about tourneys. The only reason why I say the online isn't crap (other than lag), is because I really don't care what the rules are. I bought the game to play it, and have fun playing it. Not to dominate people in it and then laugh at their failure. And it's not bias, it's opinion.

And of course Brawl could've been better. pretty much ANY game EVER MADE could be made better. There's always room for improvement. Sure, Brawl probably should've been better than what it is, given the development time, but it's still better than Melee. That's good enough for me.

The only reason you laugh at casual tourneys is because you've never played one. Have you ever even tried to have a tournament with just your friends? Have you ever even played a casual game before? Items ARE important to the game. It's not a sport, it's a game. It was designed to entertain and be fun. You can have serious tournaments with no items, but that gets boring fast.

And for the record, I haven't really played any videogames for a good two or more weeks. That kind of gets rid of any bias, as that means I'm not obsessed with the game.
I'm also no pro at it, but I'm definately not a n00b when it comes to playing it.

uh...that's a clone, the only person who could be a semi clone is Wolf and that's pushing it.

Playing competitively while prize money is on the line doesn't ruin anything. I say it's the casual elitist players that ruin things more than anyone else. They're the ones that try to force their opinions down everyone's throat more than anyone else and say stupid stuff like "Items make up 90% of the game!" and "Playing competitively takes the fun out of the game."

Playing competitively, whether in tournaments or not, is just as fun as playing Brawl as a simple party game. Setting up a tournament with prizes or cash makes it fun as well because that's when you get to play with good players, which is much more enjoyable than fighting scrubs.

In the GC era, most people had PS2's and, correct me if wrong, Gamecube was the worst selling console of that era. Seriously, what is the point of it? The story is superficial and meaningless at most. There is absolutely no point other than: go through an area filled with the same enemies. Repeat. Repeat. Boss battle with something that takes no skill, just button mashing, to defeat. Watch short, confusing, silent, unnecessary cutscene. Repeat process.

The enemies are some of the most irritating things ever, and you can die way too cheaply. The levels are samey, with very little variety. Blarg.

Getting a bit bored of the game to be honest. My 3rd party wireless GameCube controller having analogue stick issues isn't helping.

If I had just bought the frikking 1st party $50 wireless controller, I would have saved money. I've gone through three controllers, two Madcatz and one of another brand I can't remember, all $20 wireless controllers.

The Madcatz ones have the same analogue problem appearing. The other one just doesn't maintain connection for some odd reason, probably interference with something like our wireless house phone.

I'd play more if my gamepad actually worked like it SHOULD. The Nunchuck + Wiimote actually works okay, but I like the gamepad more.

I'd also play more if the CPU opponents in free-for-alls weren't annoying in the way they gang up on you and follow you around. Real human players don't gang up on you. Well, unless they hate you.

So controller issues? And how often do you play with human opponents?
