Ah yes, the most beloved music in my brain. Hardcore is my favourite music genre. And although Neophyte isn't the best DJ out there, he certainly is one of the better ones. I got this song yesterday, and I have listened it for about 10x now.

Tasmanian technical death metal band. It's like the flow of each song changes every 5 seconds. Drum fills come out of nowhere, and then suddenly there is this pounding double bass and the most headbangable riff ever. Great music.
Vocals are good too. He goes as low as Dsicgorge and Cannibal Corpse, then pulls off these high screams like he is being stabbed, it's awesome.
And I saw them live! And I have a t-shirt. I really hope they come to Melbourne again. The drummer and the guitarist are also in The Amenta, another Australian band. Good ****.

Great album though. Orchestra + Rock = Excellent music.

Say Goodbye
I stole my friend's iPod (not LITERALLY) on the bus because I was being deprived of music (MY iPod died >>; and I happened to stumble across this song and it made my day a bit more happier :)
"Say Goodbye"
You don't know me
Like you knew me
You stopped listening
The moment that I needed you the most
You can't see me
Like you saw me
Truth comes easy
But it's hard for you to pull me from the ground
So I scream, scream cause it hurts
Your every word
Cuts me inside and leaves me worse
There's no way back
And what if there was
You'd still be you and
I'd still need to say goodbye
Maybe you don't
Love me
Like I love you baby
Cause the broken in you doesn't make me run
There is beauty
In the dark side
I'm not frightened
Without it I could never feel the sun
Nothing will ever change no matter what you say
I'm still gonna be the same
The hader we try, the harder that we fight, can't get it right

After watching the 3 hour Killadelphia DVD I have a new found respect for this band. They are everything American metal should be. Hard working, hard drinking, sweaty, hairy Americans putting everything they have into their music, and trust me, the result is phenominal. This is the tightest album I have ever listened to. The drummer is my most respected drummer now, he practices non-stop and every hit and double kick is perfectly in time. The riffs are punishing. They rip through you in terms of technicallity and sound, and Randy Blythe is such a brutal vocalist. His deeps vocals are amazing, and then in parts he unleashes these powerful piercing high vocals. Anyway, enough ranting. This is definatly a must-have for any American metal fan, these guys are the best American metal band since Pantera.

36 Crazyfists - A Snow Capped Romance (album)
This almost wouldn't be metal if it wasn't for the occasional screamed vocals. There's no solos, no real heavy guitars, no double kick at all really, and the drumming isn't even that fast most of the time. Kind of hardcore/metalcore, I still like this album though, it's good all the way through.

I've been going through a melodic metal phase the past week. I've been playing through all my Norther and Kalmah albums and now I finally have all 5 COB albums so I'm playing through them, I especially like this album now. Alexi Laiho is a god of the guitar. He has to be one of the fastest shredders ever, and he has been doing this since he was only 13. He left school at the age of 17 to focus his time on Bodom and it has payed off. 5 Studio albums under his belt and plenty of shows. Good stuff.

My 'Children Of Bodom' phase led me to discover their keyboardist 'Janne Warmen's' side project, simply entitled 'Warmen'. This keyboard-driven album (2005) is just amazing. It seems that his time in Bodom somewhat limits his skill, and when let loose on his own album you can hear how amazing this virtuoso of the keys really is. Only 6 of the 9 tracks have vocals. A couple feature Timo Kotipelto from Stratovarius, 1 with Kimberly Goss from Sinergy (and Alexi's wife, she is a mole and a bad singer but oh well), and the last track with Alexi himself doing the vocal work. The standout tracks are 'Accept the Fact' and 'Return of Saleri' (a 4:49 keyboard solo basically, it's ****in' mad). Anyway enough rambling, this album is great speed/power metal. I love it.

Indeed. And also, the Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children version is incredible!
I don't really have any specific tastes in music, just a few songs here and there. Currently, I'm listening to The Trooper by Iron Maiden, Boulevard of Broken Dreams by Green Day, and Of Sins and Shadows by Symphony X.
And also a Medli's theme from Wind Waker :P It's really soothing.

I've been meaning to get something by these guys ever since I saw Alexi Laiho played guitars on a couple of their album (not this one though). They're a Finnish black metal group, the only one I have ever heard of it. It's different because they incorporate the style of Norwegian black metal, and the elements of Finnish metal as well. I just looked up the meaning of the name too, which is very cool. I would have though Nazarene had something to do with Nazi's but it turns out it's something I'd like to see impaled even more :P .

Now all that time later I finally have the album 'Deliverance', this song is the standout track for me, though all 5 full songs plus the intro are great. Devin Townsend
Ocean Machene - Biomech
Devin Townsend is amazing. When he was 19, Steve Vai got him to do guitars and vocals on his album, Sex and Religion. later, Devin made a band called Strapping Young Lad (who are a bit heavy for my taste, but are still really good). He has his own record label (HevyDevy records), and this is his first solo album (he's had a few since, and then eventually, instead of releasing solo albums, started releasing albums under the name "The Devin Townsend Band"). His solo stuff (as well as Devin Townsend Band stuff) is absolutely amazing, and he has developped a reputation as Metal's most insane musician (seriously, he's freaking mental). This is best observed on the DTB's latest record, Synchestra, which he himself describes as "Sunshine Metal"; it's all happy and major key, but still REALLY loud with heavily distorted guitars, screaming, etc. Also, the album goes everywhere, from metal to more folky stuff, to one section which is banjo/bluegrass-esque, and there's one track on it that's a polka.
all taht and he's Canadian, too!

My flaws are open season
For this I gave up trying
One good turn deserves my dying
You don’t need to bother

But once I hold on I won’t let go ‘til it bleeds...

I got this (their first) and Beyond Abilities (the second album) last night, making their discography complete. Fantastic speed/power metal. I enjoy the first 2 albums a lot more though because there is more instrumentals which means less of the wanky power metal vocals, and more of the insane finger-work of Children Of Bodom's own Janne Wirman. He's a fantastic keyboardist, the best I have ever heard. Good stuff.

I was happy in this fortress,
in my exile I remained
But the hours grew so empty
and the ocean sent her waves
In the figure of a woman
and she pulled me out to sea
[Chorus]
When you come down to take me home
send my soul away
When you come round you'll make me whole
send my soul away
On the altar of a sunrise
was a wedding in the waves
And inside her shown a young light
from her labor I was saved
Though I've traveled long in darkness
in her harvest I'm embraced
[Chorus]
When you come down to take me home
send my soul away
When you come round you'll make me whole
send my soul away
Now the spires and the gables
grow in orchards to the sky
And the blessings on my table
multiply and divide
[Chorus]
When you come down to take me home
send my soul away
Yeah when you come round you'll make me whole
send my soul away
Yeah when you come down to take me home
when you come round you'll make me whole
Yeah when you come round to take me home
Send my soul away
send my soul away
Send my soul away
send my soul away

Satellite [Radio Edit] - Ocean Lab
Francesca just sent it to me, and the lyrics make me feel like driving to her right now.
My love is like first steps in this snow, baby,
I follow you everywhere you go, baby.
The pain as light has come to wake you
But you will never realize
That I inspire the dreams that guide you baby.
I follow the winds that bring the cold, baby,
I light a fire in your soul, baby.
The lightest touch of feathers falling
My love might be invisible
But I inspire the dreams that guide you, baby
You're a half a world away
But in my mind I whisper every single word you say.
And before you sleep at night
You pray to me, your lucky star, your singing satellite.
Your singing satellite
You say a prayer
You say a prayer
You're a half a world away
But in my mind I whisper every single word you say.
And before you sleep at night
You pray to me, your lucky star, your singing satellite.
You're a half a world away
But in my mind I whisper every single word you say.
And before you sleep at night
You pray to me, your lucky star, your singing satellite.
10/10 because of how its making me feel right now.

omg, I can't wait for their new album "The Great Cold Distance". Only a few more weeks until europe and america starts getting it. Then I have to go bug JB HiFi like I did for Come Clarity ;P.
Meanwhile, i'l just have to live with this song and "July" on loop ;P. I have a few others but these two are the best I have.

A guy at school gave me 6 albums by Dream Theater. I suppose after listening to this album I can understand all the fuss about this band. Petrucci is an amazing guitarist, Portnoy is a fantastic, tight drummer, and the use of keyboards is well used as well. I also actually don't mind the vocals this time around (I hated them the first time I listened to DT). Great band (so far, still 5 more albums after this).

I've got another puzzle for you,
oompa, loompa, doompadah dee,
if you are wise you'll listen to me.
What do you get from a glut of TV,
a pain in the neck and an IQ of three,
why don't you try simply reading a book,
or could you just not bear...to...look?
You'll get no,
You'll get no,
You'll get no,
You'll get no,
You'll get no commercials.
Oompa loompa doompadee dah,
if you're not greedy you will go far,
you will live in happiness too,
like the oompa loompa doompadee do!

Another six months I'll be unknown
Give all my things to all my friends

Holy crap! I love that song. In my opinion, not the best song done by Nightwish, but still damn good.

"Dark Chest of Wonders" - Nightwish
Im testing my new speaker system for my bedroom. Having the sub-woofer right in front of me isn't the greatest, and the surround sound isn't fully compatible with my PSP docking station, but it's still good. And it can shake my desk if the woofer's volume is on maximum. Which is the main thing.
As for the song: 8/10.

Gum chewing's fine when it's once in a while,

Bal-Sagoth - Starfire Burning Upon The Ice-Veiled Throne Of Ultima Thule (album)
Long album names, even longer song names. This is a really symphonic, melodic, folky, battle, goblinish metal band. Hard to describe. They have a very unique sound. I have 4 of the 6 albums, and I like them all.

A very matured Kalmah emerges in '06 with a new album containing 11 spectacular melodic death metal masterpieces. This is a great album, the 3 year wait between albums was so worth it. So many great riffs, so many great solos. The drumming has improved a lot with faster and more technical beats, as well as more blast beats with is always good. And the vocals are a lot deeper as opposed to the more screamy vocals on the previous 3 albums. All in all a fantastic album for any true metal fan. Standout tracks at this stage (only the third time through) are 'To The Gallows' and 'Bitter Metallic Side'.

--I HAVE to post the lyrics. They're too cool to not be posted O:!
This may never start.
We could fall apart.
And I'd be your memory.
Lost your sense of fear.
Feelings insincere.
Can I be your memory?
So get back, back, back to where we lasted.
Just like I imagine.
I could never feel this way.
So get back, back, back to the disaster.
My heart's beating faster.
Holding on to feel the same.
This may never start.
I'll tear us apart.
Can I be your enemy?
Losing half a year.
Waiting for you here
I'd be your anything.
So get back, back, back to where we lasted.
Just like I imagine.
I could never feel this way.
So get back, back, back to the disaster.
My heart's beating faster.
Holding on to feel the same.
This may never start.
Tearing out my heart.
I'd be your memory.
Lost your sense of fear.
(I'd be your memory)
Feelings disappear.
Can I be your memory?
So get back, back, back to where we lasted.
Just like I imagine.
I could never feel this way.
So get back, back, back to the disaster.
My heart's beating faster.

This song is from the album "Does This Look Infected"
http://images.windowsmedia.com/img/prov_u/300_80/00044006349121_800x800.jpg
"What happened to you
You played the victim for so long now in this game
What I thought was true
Is made of fiction and I'm following the same
But if I try to make sense of this mess I'm in
I'm not sure where I should begin
I'm fallin'
I'm fallin'
Now I'm in over my head
for something I said
Completely misread
I'm better off dead
And now I can see
I think it could be
This hypocrisy is beginning to get to me
It's none of my concern
What is luck to me I don't believe in fame
I guess you never heard
I bet the makers they don't even know your name
But if I had to say goodbye to leave this hell
I think my time has served me well
I'm fallin'
I'm fallin'
[Chorus]
This came all before
Those who suffer more
I'm too awake for this to be a nightmare
What's with my disgrace
I lost the human race
No one left for this to blow up in you face
Who said it was so easy to put back all of these pieces
Who said it was so easy to put back all of these pieces
[Chorus]
Over my head
Better off dead
Over my head
Better off dead
ALRIGHT!"
AMAZING song, a tad short but its simply incredible. Im going to go out and buy this album ( I know for being such a fan I only own No Killer All Filler and Chuck, 2/3 but I have all of this album downloaded) the song is probably one of my favorite Sum 41 songs. For sure a 10/10

This album is insane. Their style is caught somewhere between metal and rock, and all their songs are dark, late night metal. It's the sort of album you have to experience, espeically the songs Deliberation, Soil's Song, My Twin (first single, apparently a hit, as it should be with bass like this), Follower and July. They're all great.
And to top it off, the cd is black.

Really Cool songs. It sounds like an Orchestra at the start, and the vocals are enchanced electrically in some parts, which sounds really cool.
You should listen to it: on their Myspace.

That whole album (Death Cult Armageddon) is great. Though not quite as good as the previous album (Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia).
Speaking of symphonic black metal...
Anorexia Nervosa - The Redemption Process (album)
It just sucks that their production isn't that great, because the music itself is amazing. Synth-laden black metal with themes focussing around anti-religion, melancholy, sexuality etc.
Rating: 8/10 (production is a let down)

The Verve
Bittersweet Symphony
An amazing song that somehow always seems to bring me to tears >.<
It's just so beautifully composed @.@
And I'm starting to listen to Avenged Sevenfold and Underoath and I'm starting to get into metal. If there are any bands anybody wants to suggest then please do.

Nice acoustic piece, not my favorite type of song, but this is an exception.

Avenged Sevenfold
Trashed and Scattered
It's one of those song you need when you're in misanthrope mode D:

Unholy confessions- Avenged Sevenfold
This is the song that made me an Avenged Sevenfold fan. The muted intro is simply amazing, and something i could never play in my guitar. Great song.

Natasha Bettingfield
These Words (I Love You)
D: I caught my brother singing it and I like how it's an attempt at a love song.

Nine Inch Nails - Star****ers Inc.
"my god sits in the back of the limousine
my god comes in a wrapper of cellophane
my god pouts on the cover of the magazine
my god's a shallow little ***** trying to make the scene
I have arrived and this time you should believe the hype
I listened to everyone I know that everyone was right
I'll be there for you as long as you work for me
I play a game
it's called insincerity
star****ers
star****ers
star****ers, inc.
------
how did we ever get by without you?
you're so vain
i bet you think this song is about you
don't you?
don't you?
don't you?
don't you?"

she's got black hair
and she has got a black dress
she's pretending
that her life is a mess
but I cannot rest
with so many worries
I can't lie down
and say I am done
I live 'cause I need more light
I hope I can change today
she would never think of changing
too much ****ing emo, it's false (I know)
she stops me in the street
and asks me to follow
I would if I could
if I wouldn't mind breaking her.

Classical music, anyone? i don't listen to this kind of thing regularly, but man, is this stuff good. No other type of music can express drama/emotion better than classical, or at least that's the way i see it.

That makes no sense. Avenged Sevenfold, Underoath, metal? A7X are emo/hardcore and Underoath are emo/screamo. If you want real metal you're going to need to listen to something like As I Lay Dying or Killswitch Engage to get you into metalcore, then move onto the real metal from there.
Emperor - In The Wordless Chamber
Really cut this band broke up in 2001, though I am interested to hear Ihsahn's sideprojects. This is one of the best songs of their last release "Prometheus: The Discipline of Fire & Demise".

I'm sort of going through a small NIN phase this week >_>.
"I'm just an effigy to be defaced
to be disgraced
your need for me has been replaced
and if I can't have everything well then just give me a taste"
Random fun fact: There's a Helloween concert here right now, present day, present time. :) It's at the same place where Apocalyptica, Therion, Cannibal Corpse and Dark Tranquility performed.

Really. Really. Really. Bad Lyrcis....
Repeating "Yeah" 8 or 9 times does not count as a chorus to me.
