He's going for speed,
She's all alone,
(All alone)
All alone,
In a time of need ...
'Cause he's racing and facing,
And plotting the course,
He's chasing and pacing,
And riding on his horse."

- Must post song, band and album
- Must post a short excerpt of lyrics
- Must give a rating
- Must give a blurb, or short description
Because some people are just posting song and band, which is close to spam, and highly discourages real discussion.
Anyway, just an idea, and I can’t really enforce it being just a regular member, but it would be nice if people did at least a few of these things.

Another rule also: It is better not to post a song/piece of music you have currently commented and rated before. But you are allowed to post your own comments and rating for a song if it has already been rated by someone else.
I think that's a better idea. I'll update the first post if everyone is happy with that. Thanks for the suggestion Agatio.

Hall of the Mountain King - Cult - Apocalyptica
(song, album, band)
Most of you would have heard this song in some form. It's an old orchestral piece. They used it as the theme song for Rat Race.
Anyway, this is, like, a metal version of that song done with the usual cellos. It starts off slow and gets faster and faster as it goes.
Not the best song, but interesting. 10/10 for creativity ^_^.

Static X - Push It
From the album Winsconsin Deathtrip
corrosive tainted by my sin
i'm spilling blood and i can hardly contain it
corrosive hallowing the hand stiffened
i eat away eat eat into the surface
yeah you push it
explosive more violent more violent
all consuming throbbing strait to the circle
Fast paced song. Me and my mates used to play this at my house. It's dead easy instrumentation, same basic riff and beat the whole way through.

Song:Mad World
Artist:Gary Jules
CD: Donnie Darko Sountrack
I have the soundtrack on an mp3 disc that a friend gave me [@Agatio, Sofia gave it to me ;) ] And I have just been listening to it over and over and over... and Mad World is one of the best songs IMO.. <<; It's a nice piano-ey piece with lots of nice effects...
And I just LOOOVE the lyrics so, here they are:
All around me are familiar faces
Worn out places, Worn out faces
Bright and early for the daily races
Going nowhere, Going nowhere
Their tears are filling up their glasses
No expression, No expression
Hide my head I want to drown my sorrow
No tomorrow, No tomorrow
And I find it kind of funny, I find it kind of sad
These dreams in which i'm dying, Are the best I've ever had
I find it hard to tell you, I find it hard to take
When people run in circles it's a very very
Mad World, Mad World
Children waiting for the day they feel good
Happy Birthday, Happy Birthday
And they feel the way that every child should
Sit and listen, Sit and listen
Went to school and I was very nervous
No one knew me, No one knew me
Hello teacher tell me whats my lesson
Look right through me, Look right through me

This is a great song and one of my favourite by Muse. Starts off with a gentle tune on the keyboard and then after a short and well sung lyrical piece, it bursts into (heavier then i usually go for) thrashings of eletric guitar - co ordinated thrashings mind! Its just a great song - my little sister once described i as "psycho music"

song: Torn
album: left of the middle
"I thought I saw a man brought to life
He was warm
He came around
And he was dignified
He showed me what it was to cry
Well you couldn't be that man I adored
You don't seem to know
Or seem to care
What your heart is for
I don't know him anymore
There's nothin' where he used to lie
My conversation has run dry
That's what's going on
Nothings right
I'm torn
I'm all out of faith
This is how I feel
I'm cold and I am shamed
Lying on the floor
Illusion never changed
Into something real
I'm wide awake and I can see the perfect sky is torn
You're a little late
I'm already torn
So I guess the fortune tellers right
I should have seen just what was there and not some holy light
But you crawled beneath my veins
And now, I don't care
I have no luck
I don't miss it all that much
There's just so many things
That I can't touch
I'm torn"
(thats not the whole song though)

I got the message long before you said you knew
There was no chance of us at all
With no velocity an empty heading hard and far too long
I spent two years alone with you
Just when I thought I had forgotten
You came back soft without a sound.
You said we were an accident
With accidents you’ll never know what could have been
So we were an accident
You’ll always be my favorite one
These guys have such a unique sound. They're a punk band, with keyboards with a wierd effect. And the drums are what makes the band IMO. They stand out above the other instruments. I don't know why, but I seem to be slipping into a punk phase lately.

From their new album 'Lost and Found'
This band just keeps getting better with every album. And you can bet me and my brother will be first in line to buy this new release from Mudvayne. This song is everything their particular genre of metal should be. The droning of the guitars, the excellent bassists, the insane drums, and Chad's vocals are top notch.
GO, SO F**KING DETERMINED, YEAH
YEAH GO, YOU BETTER BELIEVE IT CONFIDENCE
GO, SO F**KING DETERMINED, YEAH
YEAH GO, SPIT OUT ALL REASON, YEAH
I'm tired of holdin' up the weight,
the weight of the mother****in' world.
What I wanted to do, but just can't wait
DO RIGHT NOW !!!
We could start a little fire just to get in the flame
The type that'll blow away.
I'm speakin' of my 15 minutes of fame
Come on now 1 2 3...
GO, SO F**KING DETERMINED, YEAH

I don't usually like songs where people scream the words...but this is catchy...and its not all screaming.
"Graffiti decorations
Under a sky of dust
A constant wave of tension
On top of broken trust
The lessons that you taught me
I learn were never true
Now I find myself in question
(They point the finger at me again)
Guilty by association
(You point the finger at me again)
I wanna run away
Never say goodbye
I wanna know the truth
Instead of wondering why
I wanna know the answers
No more lies
I wanna shut the door
And open up my mind
Paper bags and angry voices
Under a sky of dust
Another wave of tension
Has more than filled me up
All my talk of taking action
These words were never true
Now I find myself in question
(They point the finger at me again)
Guilty by association
(You point the finger at me again)
I wanna run away
Never say goodbye
I wanna know the truth
Instead of wondering why
I wanna know the answers
No more lies
I wanna shut the door
And open up my mind
I'm gonna run away and never say goodbye
(gonna run away gonna run away gonna run away gonna run away)
I'm gonna run away and never wonder why
(gonna run away gonna run away gonna run away gonna run away)
I'm gonna run away and open my mind
(gonna run away/mind gonna run away gonna run away/mind mind gonna run away mind gonna run away/mind gonna run away gonna run away gonna run away/mind)
I wanna run away
Never say goodbye
I wanna know the truth
Instead of wondering why
I wanna know the answers
No more lies
I wanna shut the door
And open up my mind
I wanna run away
and open up my mind
I wanna run away
and open up my mind
I wanna run away
and open up my mind
I wanna run away

Dimmu Borgir - Vredesbyrd
From the Album "Death Cult Armageddon"
Reis deg opp
La oss bestride
Den tanke fra vår lend
Og dyrk
På en forbannet jord
En smertens ætt
For så og tynge
De barmhjertiges skjød
Som har tiltro til
Den sjelloses brød
For den tro du besitter
Er intet annet enn avsmak og hovmod
Og din nøden etter viten
Er en overflod av hån og skjend
Smerten i mitt hjerte er ikke tørste
Etter himmelsk legeme
Ei er det sviktende søken etter englemakt
Det er ilden og den brenner
Det er bare det at du
Skjemmer for den
Ta del i skyldens skygge
Behag din sjel med syndens under
For hvor er vel du
Når lampen slukkes
Men døden kommer ei
Med vårt bud
Gjenklang fra den prektiges arv
Vil innfri det endelige forderv
Bring dom over andre en ditt eget hode
Der du gjemmer din skam i lovsang
Så skal du få smake frukten
Av din egen bortgang
Som en flokk av helveds opphav
Og forvaltere av foraktens sønn
Parerer vi deres list med avskyens prakt
Med beviset på vår tunge byrde
Ligger deres sinn i åndenød
Skamfert tilbake uten makt
This song is just pure awesomeness. Insane guitarist, inspiring vocals, unbelieveable drums. Everything you would expect from black metal. And it's 100% Norgwegian. Anyone here able to translate?

Not a huge fan of techno usually, although when they make a good song in this genre its usually brilliant. Came across this while looking for "Smack my ***** up"
It's a pretty good song in fairness, i like it - cant discern enpough of the lyrics to make writing them down worthwhile though.

You know that dancing banana, well, there's a flash animation to go with it called "Peanut Butter Jelly Time". I think it's definately one of the funniest flashes out there. And I managed to find an mp3 of it! Hillarious!
It's peanut butter jelly time, peanut butter jelly time, peanut butter jelly time
(Chorus:)
Where he at 4x
There he go 4x
Peanut butter jelly 4x
Do the peanut butter jelly, peanut butter jelly,
Peanut butter jelly with a baseball bat 2x
(Chorus)
Now, break it down and freeze 4x
(Chorus)
Now tic tac toe (uh-huh)
Tic tac toe (let's go)
Tic tac toe (you got it)
Tic tac toe (let's ride)
(Chorus)
Now, freestyle, freestyle, freestyle, freestyle, freestyle, your style 2x
Where he at 4x
There he go 4x

At last I have found a 'The Used' song that is better than the rest I've heard. This song proves the singer has true talent, and the guitar and drum work is also very well done. A must get for any punk/hardcore fan.
I still remember a year ago
The times we spent
I think that I'm happier now
Up from the down
By all means
It's strange cause I feel the same way
I think of what it looks like
I think of what it tastes like
(Verse)
Same strange
Said it's strange cause I feel the same
(Repeat Verse)
Still remember what it tastes like
What it felt like
Makes me ill
I think of what it looks like
I think of what it tastes like
I think of what it looks like
I think of what it tastes, taste
(Repeat Verse x4)

These songs are just pure mayhem. A chaotic display of death metal. For this reason, I can only really listen to 2 of their songs, as the rest all follow the same pattern. But, these 2 are great. Definately not for Illidian though =) .
I won't post lyrics because I don't want to know what they are, and you people sure as hell don't either (pretty gross apparantly, but I won't go into that here).

Motion City Soundrtack - The Future Freaks me out
I’m on fire and now I think I’m ready to bust a move
Check it out I’m rocking steady
Go!
Betty won’t stop listening to modern rock
How she hates to be alone
I try to compensate her lack of love with coffee cake
Ice cream and a bottle of ten dollar wine she says hey
I rock the Haro sport
I rock the cow girl blues
I rock too fast for love I’m footloose in my Velcro shoes
What’s up with Will and Grace?
I don’t get drum and bass
The future freaks me out
Another good song from MCS, another band I'me getting into.

Album:The Fragile
Nice and angsty like most NIN pieces o.o; Fits my mood right now n.n
all the world has closed her eyes
tired faith all worn and thin
for all we could have done
and all that could have been
ocean pulls me close
and whispers in my ear
the destiny i've chose
all becoming clear
the currents have their say
the time is drawing near
washes me away
makes me disappear
and i descend from grace
in arms of undertow
i will take my place
in the great below

I was really into this band mid last year, then I got into some other bands, and I kind of forgot about these guys. Then about a week ago I thought I would get a few songs of theirs. Now I'm really back into them, burnt both of their albums yesterday, great band. They have an amazing singer (used to be an opera) who can do 3 distinct styles. The drummer is also really good. No amazing solo's or anything, but just the way he plays fits in with the band and sounds really good. Bassist is also a highlight, and the guitarist, well, he makes the band pretty much.

I had forgotten this song existed but i heard it again today and remember how truly awesome it is. The name makes no sense really and the overall song i think is a rant at an ex girlfriiend or something but it really doesnt matter as this song is just brilliant.
