In the Wake of Determination IS SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much better then
Page Avenue.
For one, the first four tracks on both cd's is great but I don't think that some of the better songs, like in the shadows can compete with the newer stuff, like: is this my fate? He asked them, or pay your enemy, hell 'wake up the voiceless' is ****ing awsome.

Man this is different to Days of the Pheonix, both of them great songs.
Hey Miss Murder can I?
Hey Miss Murder can I?
Make beauty stay if I take my life?
What's the hook, the twist within this verbose mystery?
I would gladly bet my life upon it that the ghost you love,
Your ray of light will fizzle out without hope.
We're the empty set just floating through, wrapped in skin,
Ever searching for what we were promised...
Reaching for that golden ring we'd never let go...
But who woult ever let us put our filthy hands upon it?

The album 'Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia' by Dimmu Borgir is a symphonic black metal masterpiece, get into it, you won't be dissapointed. 'Death Cult Armageddon' isn't bad either, but I compare everything they do to PEM.

#2689
Posted 16 July 2006 - 10:59 PM
For death metal is may just be beneficial to listen to some metalcore acts first to get used to the vocals. Such bands as All That Remains, Unearth and As I Lay Dying would be good choices, then move onto soem heavy thrash (Pantera and Lamb of God), then to melodic death metal (In Flames, Dark Tranquillity and Children of Bodom). After that I was used to the vocals / harsh guitar and so should you.
For real death metal, Cannibal Corpse, Decapitated and Necrophagist would be a healthy mix of brutal and technical.
It all takes time. I didn't go from listening to Punk / Emo to death / black metal overnight, it took a while of listening to both and realising which I prefered and which was better (metal won both).
*Still listening to Severed Savior*

DragonForce are quickly becoming that way by joining Roadrunner and subsequently attracting a legion of ****** fans. Though 'Inhuman Rampage' IS a power metal masterpiece. Probably the metal 'line' would be drawn at thrash metal (Testament, Metallica, Megadeth etc.) or bands such as Lamb of God or In Flames (pop metal). Everything else (emo, hardcore, metalcore, punk) is just mallcore ******ry, and gives the real metal (black, death, power, progressive etc.) a tainted reputation, which I absolutely abhor.
Twin Obscenity - Bloodstone (album)
Everyone needs a band that only about 5 people in their country have heard of. This band is awesome, I was into 'For Blood, Honor and Soil' for ages, but I just recently (tonight) got their third album (2001), and it's not bad. I don't know what happened to them, as I can't find much information besides lyrics and an interview or 2 on the internet, I can only hope sometime in the near future they will come back with a fourth album.
Rating: 8/10 (at this stage, need to give it a proper listen a few times though)
Oh, and the avatar is a Baphomet, or Goat of Mendes; a fairly well-known heretical / Satanic symbol used for mocking Jesus, I love it, though you need a full view to properly appreciate it.

I don't listen to Story of the Year, but the name, their image, their fans and the bands they play with just scream emo / screamo / pop punk, and I think I saw one of their videos on an all emo / screamo episode of Rage one night (I was drunk, tired and bored at the time though...).

Very catchy, addicting song. I find Yellowcard a lot better than bands like Simple Plan, because Yellowcard's songs are actually different from each other.

Totally agree with you there, that song is awesome.
Ironically enough, I was just listening to Ocean Avenue, which is also a fantastic song from the band ;)

The Ataris - The Night the Lights Went Out in NYC
This CD was much more centered on the whole Mary-Jane/Peter Parker thing than the actual action, so this is another slow rock song. Very good, but not too memorable when you have other bands like Yellowcard, Jet, Dashboard Confessional, and Train on the same CD.

I've been listening to lots of In Flames stuff as usual. Right now Trigger, Metaphor, and Eye of the Beholder recently. In Flames roolz. I've also been listening to Dream Theater recently. Strange Deja Vu off the album Scenes From A Memory is a great song.

Apart from the horrible scream the guy has (it sounds horrible) good band, I'd love it if they stuck to maybe just normal singing or got someone else to do their screaming.

Ignore the complicated name (he's associated with the band Hari Mata Hari, from Bosnia). This song is amazing. Listen to it in either its native Bosnian or the translated English version (it's just as amazing :P)

This Is Love, Utada Hikaru.
It's from the album "ULTRA BLUE", which has the well known single Passions (the song from Kingdom Hearts 2). If you love Passions (Sanctuary) I suggest you try out this album, it is great and has the same music style (Jpop).

The song I posted above, and Emina, are two of the songs I recommend by Hari Mata Hari.
Since you mentioned Utada Hikaru, another good song from her is Sakura Drops. Not sure if it's from the same album, but it's a very nice, soothing song.

The song is released? Oh my god, when I get home that's the first thing I'm doing is downloading that song. *is huge Evanescence fan*
Disturbed - Land of Confusion
This song is definitely my new favorite from them. It's topical unlike their other songs but the essence of Disturbed is still there. But it's just missing that "awesome song" quality that prevents me from giving it a 10.

"Vreci Pleci dar numai numai-aa" or something like that...
"When you leave my colors fade to gray,
whoo-ai whoo-ai-ay, whoo-ai-whoo-ai-whoo-ai-ay,
every word of love I used to say,
now I paint it every day"

I love this song. Right now, this song is saying all I need to say.
How can I just let you walk away
Just let you leave without a trace
When I stand here taking every breath with you (ooh..)
You're the only one who really knew me at all
How can you just walk away from me
When all I can do is watch you leave?
'Cause we shared the laughter and the pain
And even shared the tears
You're the only one who really knew me at all
So take a look at me now
There's just an empty space
There's nothing left here to remind me
Just the memory of your face
But take a look at me now
There's just an empty space
And you coming back to me is against the odds
And that's what I've gotta face
I wish I could just make you turn around
Turn around and see me cry
There's so much I need to say to you
So many reasons why
You're the only one who really knew me at all
So take a look at me now
There's just an empty space
And there's nothing left here to remind me
Just the memory of your face
But take a look at me now
There's just an empty space
But to wait for you is all I can do
And that's what I've gotta face
Take a look at me now
I'll just be standing here
And you coming back to me
Is against the odds
And that's a chance I've gotta face
Take a look at me now
Take a look at me now
(Take a look at me now)
Take a look at me now
(Take a look at me now)
Take a look at me now
(Take a look at me now) [2x]
Take a look at me now
(Take a look at me now) [2x]
Take a look at me now
(Take a look at me now) [2x]
Take a look at me now
(Take a look at me now)

Song: Foolish
This is one of thos songs that, in a bad situation, makes you cry harder. And uh...yeah v.v;
Quote
See my days are cold without you,
but im hurtin while im with you,
and now my heart can’t take no more,
I keep on running back to you.
(Verse 1)
Baby, I don’t know why yah treatin’ me so bad (treat me so bad)?
You said you loved me, no one above me and I was all you had (all you had).
And now my heart is beating for yah, I can’t stop crying.
I don’t know how I allow you to treat me this way yet still I stay…
(Chorus)
See my days are cold without you (without you-ooh),
but I’m hurtin’ while I’m with you (ooh-oh-oh-ohh),
and now my heart can’t take no more,
I keep on running back to you (keep on running back to you).(2xs)
(Verse 2)
Baby, I don’t know why yah doin' me so wrong me wrong (do me wrong).
See, when I’m home, I’m all alone and you are always gone (always gone).
And boy, you know I really love you, I can’t deny.
I can’t see how you could bring me to so many tears after all these years…
(Chorus)
See my days are cold without you (my days, yeah!),
but I’m hurtin’ while I’m with you,
and now my heart can’t take no more (no more),
I keep on running back to you.(2xs)
(Verse 3)
Ohhh! I trusted you, I trusted you.
So sad, so sad what love will make you do-oooo.
All the things that we accept, be the things that we regret.
To all of my ladies (ladies), who feel me c’mon sing wit’ me…
(Verse 4)
See, when I get the strength to leave you,
You always tell me that you need me,
And I’m weak cause I believe you, and I’m mad because I love you.
So I stop and think that maybe, you can learn to appreciate me,
Then it all remains the same ,that, you ain’t never gonna change
(never gonna change, never gonna change)…
Verse 5: Outbreak)
Baby why you hurt me, leave me and desert me?
Boy, I gave you all my heart and all you did is tear it up.
Looking out my window, knowing that I should go,
even when I pack my bags, this something always holds me back…

Ever wondered what Maiden, or Helloween would sound like in spanish? Well, Rata's sound comes very close. As a matter of fact, they're known as the argentine version of Iron Maiden. No, they do not rip off maiden's songs and translate them, they play their own music, the styles are just very similar. Myspacers here clickety if you wanna hear some songs.

Some brilliant and catchy riffs, nice solos, top-notch vocals and drumming as always, and I think it's more anti-religion that politically themed (from what I can tell so far) than 'Ashes of the Wake'.

Okay so I've been listening to this baby and here's what I got.
Song: Water

Song: The Chase Of The Highway
-BWAHAHA! Yay for Techno. This song is all hyper and stuff 8D
Song: One Winged Angel
-Creepy song. Especially at 12 AM :3;;
Alot of the songs are in Latin. <3 I luff songs in latin :3 the choir in the Latin songs are soo cool.
Song: Mama's Room
Artist: Under The Influence Of Giants
<3! This song is technoey and indie like. The music video is scary but the song is good. THis guy can sing high notes >D
